Garry Arno Engelberg - March 20, 1958 - January 20, 2022

Departed: 01/20/2022 (Middletown)
Obituary Preview: Garry Arno Engelberg entered into rest after a slip and fall accident on the icy steps leading up to his apartment in Brunswick, Maine on January 20th, 2022. He was 63 years old.
Garry was born on March 20, 1958 in Middletown, New York to Dr. Lazar “Larry” and Thea (née Hoffmann), who both preceded him in death; 2012 and 2004 respectively. He is survived by his brother Dr. Bernard T. Engelberg and sister-in-law Lee Engelberg of Austin, Texas; and his nephew and niece, Kevin and Carina. He was laid to rest near his dear parents at Temple Sinai Cemetery in Middletown, thanks to the generosity of Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home. Garry graduated from Pine Bush High School in Middletown in 1976, and Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, in 1984. He also studied computer programming for a year at New York University. Over the course of his career he worked as a veterinary assistant, news reporter, technical and marketing writer, and most recently as a customer service representative; hanging his hat in cities as diverse as New York, Albuquerque, Houston, Tampa, Middletown, Salt Lake, and San Francisco. His penchant for writing earned him the nickname, “Scoop.”
Garry was delightfully charming, wickedly smart, and stubbornly passionate, with a penchant for 60s and 70s music, vegetarianism and well-crafted humor. He was a voracious reader of modern American literature, avid outdoor sportsman, and seasoned road-tripper. Garry seemed in constant motion, his energy and enthusiasm infecting everyone around him. He was big-hearted and generous to all - even if he might have to borrow cab fare after buying you dinner.
Garry adored his rescue dogs, Murphy, Cody and Sunshine, more than words could express. If he wasn’t at the dog park he could be found hiking, mountain biking, rollerblading or swimming off the coast of Prince Edward Island, where he spent many a summer at the family cabin. He was a longtime fan of the Grateful Dead and the New York Rangers. His cheesy feel-good memes that he posted every morning and every night brightened the lives of many people on his personal Facebook page and his Westies dog lovers’ group, which had over 30,000 followers. He will be sorely missed by his many friends and colleagues. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, Middletown, NY

Obituary Preview: Trisha passed away at home on January 17, 2022.  Her family, friends and the world have lost a wonderful and caring person.
Trisha loved family, flowers and fishing.  Her home was always filled with friends and cousins of Bailey and Maddy…where they came for a few hours but often stayed for days, laughing, dancing and eating.  Trisha had a “green thumb” and the house was always filled with blooming plants.  Anyone driving past her home was lucky to witness her beautiful hanging baskets and flowers.
Her love of fishing began as a young child during family vacations in Canada where she would wake up early with her Dad at 5 am to hit the water returning later with their “biggest Pike”.  In recent years, she and Billy traveled with “Big Bill “and “Grandpa Walter Fedun, Sr.” to Lake Ontario, from where she would proudly send home pictures of her prized catches.  Trisha was also the ultimate lacrosse Mom traveling the East coast with her girls for tournaments.
Trisha attended Delhi and Cornell Universities where she majored in horticulture and landscape design.  She worked for many years at Maples Farm & Garden Center where she helped her Dad manage the family business.  Her contribution and dedication to him cannot be expressed in words.   Most recently Trisha changed careers becoming office manager at Drayer Physical Therapy.  She loved her new job and the many friends she made there.
Trisha is survived by her beloved husband, Billy; her cherished daughters, Bailey and Madison and very special family friend Jared.  Trisha is also survived by her parents, Dan and Linda Keller; her in-laws, Bill and Edna Fedun Sr.; her sister Tebble Cassel, husband Jeremy and sons Jake and Jared; brother Michael Keller, wife Elise and sons Noah and Oliver; sister-in-law Elissa Scala, husband FM and sons Frankie and Evan; also very special to Trisha were cousins Jill and Savannah Gribbin and Billy’s grandfathers, Walter Fedun Sr. and “K-Pa” who celebrated his 100th birthday recently.
Trisha’s home was always filled with love and laughter.  Her loss to family and friends cannot be expressed in words…but in her memory we will carry on together.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 3-7 PM Sunday, January 23rd at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY. Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to share the news of a loved one's passing with friends, family, and community. They provide a sense of closure and allow people to pay their respects to the deceased. Obituaries also serve as a historical record of a person's life and can be a valuable resource for genealogists and researchers.

Who typically writes an obituary?

The task of writing an obituary usually falls to the family members or close friends of the deceased. In some cases, a funeral home or crematorium may offer to write the obituary on behalf of the family.

What information should be included in an obituary?
