Paul J. Precourt - September 11, 1940 - April 05, 2024

Departed: 04/05/2024 (Oneida)
Obituary Preview: Paul James Precourt died on April 5, 2024, in Hamilton, NY, at the age of 83.
The son of Naomi and William J. Precourt Sr., he grew up in Oneida, NY. A resilient, generous, observant and thoughtful man with an incredible memory, heart and sense of humor, he lived with Cerebral Palsy after a traumatic birth.
Time drastically affected Paul’s speech and mobility, but as a boy, he was an excellent swimmer and active, getting into trouble in all the usual ways, and some unusual ways, as well – his mother was less than delighted to learn that he, his brothers and friends had somehow gained access to a “lot car” that they drove with glee until discovery.
On weekends, the extended family would gather to sing and make music. Those early sessions introduced Paul to his lifelong love of music. He amassed a collection of classic country music, and no one could stump him when it came to country music trivia. He was able to visit Nashville and the Grand Ole Opry, and twice, he made a pilgrimage to Graceland in Memphis.
Paul attended public schools as a child, then schools for those with Cerebral Palsy in Virginia and in Syracuse. As an adult, he lived in a series of homes, most notably the Kemble Street Home, where he resided for 18 years under the extraordinary care of former head Lorri Lawlor. Throughout his life, as much as his body allowed, Paul loved to dance, dress up and go to parties – a highlight was the prom at Kemble, where he was crowned king.
An engaged uncle who knew when a youngster’s sly checkers move wasn’t above board, he always remembered and asked after his family and friends. He was dedicated to sending carefully signed cards on birthdays and holidays, as well as small gifts whenever something reminded him of a loved one.
Paul was predeceased by his parents and a brother, William J. Precourt Jr. He is survived by his sister Linda (Mike) Seamans of Canastota, NY; sister-in-law Marie Precourt of Oneida Castle, NY; and brother Kenneth (Brenda) Precourt of Edgewater, FL; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and extended family members.
In addition to the staff at Kemble Street House, Paul’s family wishes to extend its gratitude to the staff at Paul’s most recent residence, Hamilton House, for their wonderful care.

Douglas L. Lippert - October 09, 1943 - February 13, 2024

Departed: 02/13/2024 (Oneida)
Obituary Preview: At the time and date of God’s choosing, Douglas Lee Lippert passed peacefully from these earthly bounds into the heavenly realm of God where he met the face of Jesus on February 13, 2024.
He was the son of Norman Henry and Beulah “Billie” (Brown) Lippert and arrived on October 9, 1943, in Batavia, N.Y.
A graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, Douglas became a teacher of English at Oakfield-Alabama Central School, but shortly realized his true calling. He followed in his father’s footsteps (NYSP 1927-1952) and joined the New York State Police in February 1966. His assignments were in Remsen, Painted Post, Avon, Clarkson (Brockport), Oneida, and Morrisville. He was appointed station commander in 1976, and after twenty years of service, retired in 1987. He went on to serve as the Madison County Coordinator for STOP-DWI from 1987-2008. In 2009, he was appointed as the Oneida City Public Safety Commissioner and supervised both the police and fire departments.
He was a faithful member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Oneida and later became a Certified Lay Pastor for the Presbytery of Utica. For 25 years he was a mentor, teacher, and guide to the Oneida Church Youth Group known as Jesus Street / The Connection. He also served as a member and former President of the Oneida Public Library.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 62 years, Alicia Mary (Schiffer). They were married June 6, 1965, in Holy Family R.C.  Church, Hicksville, NY and were blessed by the arrivals of son Andrew John (Amy) and daughter Kristen Alicia (Philip) Martin.
For such a decent, law-abiding man, he was a terrible cheater at ping pong and Monopoly and a shocking trash talker when on the basketball court. He played recreational volleyball like the fate of the world was at stake. Once he discovered his true sports passion -- tennis – later in life, he never needed any coaxing to jump onto the court and do battle with his racket. He was a devoted animal lover who spoiled his dogs on an unimaginable scale and always kept his bird feeders full in kindness to God’s many winged creatures and to the benefit of countless overfed squirrels. He had dreadful taste in vampire movies and loved an eclectic array of music, from Mozart to David Bowie to Joan Jett. He showed care by topping off the oil in your car or leaving vitamins next to your cereal bowl. He wrote beautiful, compassionate poems in honor of his parents when they passed - as he did for all significant family events. He was a special person who spent his life in service to others, and he will be deeply missed.
His legacy lives on in the love he had for his children and grandchildren:  Anna, Grace, Nathaniel, and Catherine Lippert; Caroline, Lucy, Emma, and Augustus (Gus) Martin. He is also survived by his brother Stephen (Hallie) Lippert of Huron OH; niece Deborah (Jeff) Gillen and their children, Stephanie, Brittany, and Jacob; his brother Gregory (Ellen) Lippert of Elmhurst Il, and their daughters, Emily (John Matthews) and their children Hannah and Asher, and daughter Margaret. Douglas will be honored at a memorial service officiated by Pastor Michael Yeoman on May 4, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church of Oneida, 405 Broad Street, Oneida, N.Y.  Additional info will follow.  Personal and professional care is being provided to Doug and his family by Jeffrey T. Paul, Director, of the Coolican-McSweeney & Paul Funeral Home, 322 Washington Avenue, Oneida.  To offer a condolence, please visit: coolican-mcsweeney.com The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Champlin Rd., Utica for their compassionate care and friendship, as well as those from Hospice Services, Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY

Brenda S. Radomski - January 17, 1956 - January 19, 2024

Departed: 01/19/2024 (Oneida)
Obituary Preview: On the 19th of January 2024, Brenda Sue Fincher Radomski passed away.  Everyone who knew Brenda would agree that she was caring, supportive, generous, and proud of everyone in her life.  Brenda is survived by her loving partner and soulmate of 29 years, Richard, her sons, her two grandsons that were her world, her sister, nieces and nephew, the many “adopted” sons and daughters that have blessed her life over the years, and her close friends.
Brenda did not want people to mourn her passing.  Instead, she wanted everyone to celebrate her life and remember the moments each of us had with her.  To honor Brenda’s memory the way she requested, turn on Metallica or Guns-n-Roses, raise the volume until you can feel the music pierce your soul, pour a shot of your favorite beverage, raise it high in the air, and toast to the memories you shared with her.  No tears, just smiles, laughter and joy.

Christopher R. Langdon - June 02, 1963 - January 13, 2024

Departed: 01/13/2024 (Oneida)
Obituary Preview: Christopher R. Langdon
Vernon-Christopher Robin Langdon, 60, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Oneida Healthcare Center.
Chris was born on June 2, 1963, in Baudette, MN, the son of Charles and Linda Lou Burns-Langdon. On July 9, 2016, in Vernon, he was (finally) united in marriage to Lori Matteson-Hinman after 22 years together. For over 38 years, Chris had been an independent contractor and a fantastic home builder. For the past 5 years, Chris had been a very well-loved mechanic in the maintenance department at the Oneida Healthcare Center. Outside of work, he held a deep fondness for the great outdoors for its peace and beauty. Chris enjoyed his bird sanctuary at home and all wildlife wherever he was. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who was just as much at “home” in the woods or on the water.
