Born on July 31, 1948, in Hackensack, New Jersey, Dave lived a life marked by service, both in the military and his community, but mainly to his children and his beloved grandchildren.
Dave grew up on a farm in Liberty, NY with his parents, John W. Bromm and Edith C. Bromm, who preceded him in death. As a young man, he proudly answered the call of duty and served his country with honor as a member of the "Pig Iron" company of the First Cavalry US Army during the Vietnam War.

Departed: 04/08/2024 (Cookeville)
Obituary Preview: Lt. Col. (Ret.) Edward “Eddie” Maynard Scott was born on April 9, 1932, in Philadelphia, Tennessee to Maynard and Louise Mitchell Scott. He was the youngest of their four children. His parents separated when he was young, and he was raised by his mother in Cleveland, Tennessee, alongside his siblings Elizabeth “Liz” Scott Thielke, Lillian “Dee” Scott Samuel, and Donald “Don” H. Scott. He graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1950. He received scholarships from Tennessee Tech University for football and an Army ROTC scholarship. As was noted when he was inducted to the Tennessee Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2007, Eddie Scott “made significant contributions to Tennessee Tech as a student athlete from 1950 to 1954, helping the Golden Eagles surface as a power in both football and track & field. As a receiver on the TTU football team under coaches Putty Overall and Wilburn Tucker, Scott was considered a prolific pass catcher who nabbed any ball thrown near him, and he also was recognized for an uncanny ability to run with the ball, turning catches into long gains. He earned a total of five letters as a Golden Eagle student-athlete, with three in football and two in track & field. On the gridiron, he was a starter at end for three years on offense and started two seasons on defense at cornerback. He was named to the OVC all-conference squad in football in 1952, and also earned All-Tri-State honors the same year among small colleges in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama. During the 1951 season, he caught two touchdown passes against SEC powerhouse Kentucky, and in 1952 he established a school single-season record with 579 receiving yards, a number which stood until 1975. In 1953, he played in Tech’s first bowl game, appearing in the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando, Fla. In track, he competed in the pole vault, high jump, and sprints. In 1952, he finished first in the OVC Championships in the pole vault.”
In addition to his athletic accomplishments while at Tech, Eddie dated the homecoming queen, Miriam Eve Gilpin. He received his bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Tech University in 1954, and later earned a master’s degree from Tech in 1966. Following his college graduation, he coached high school football for a year before receiving his commission, based on his successful completion of Tech’s ROTC program, as an Army officer in 1955. He married Miriam Eve Gilpin on September 10, 1955, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Eddie served on the ROTC staff at Tech from 1963 to 1966, and was officer in charge of the Tech Rifle Team in 1963 that claimed the unofficial OVC championship. His military service took him to Ft. Leavenworth, KS; Washington DC; Heidelberg, Germany; Karlsruhe, Germany; and, Ft. Bragg, NC. In 1975, they built their dream home in the woods beside a creek where they happily resided for the rest of their lives. In his retirement, Eddie owned and operated a saw blade business for many years where he sharpened blades and made bandsaws for use in furniture factories in the Cookeville area. He grew a large garden every summer. He and Miriam enjoyed get-togethers with their family and their many friends. Eddie was an ardent supporter of Tennessee Tech Football. He attended his last Tech game on September 10, 2022, when he was recognized as a member of the Tennessee Tech Football All-Century Team and walked out onto the field with several former players including his close friends, Leonard “Sonny” Allen and Ken Broyles, as his entire family watched.
Eddie enjoyed hunting, mostly birds, and participated in shooting sports on multiple continents during his military career. He continued to dove and quail hunt after his retirement to Tennessee. He enjoyed the companionship of many good bird dogs over the years, including Cinnamon, Sage, Janna, Jannick, Bo, and Rebel. In his last years, he was adopted by a neighbor’s Great Pyrenees, Sadie. Jo Ann Clemons - March 01, 1957 - April 03, 2024

Departed: 04/03/2024 (Cookeville)
Obituary Preview: Jo Ann Clemons returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 in Murray, Utah.
Jo was born March 1, 1957 in Montgomery, Alabama, to Keith and Edna Merle (Brooks) Clemons. She was the fourth of six children. Her father served in the Air Force, so she lived in many locations throughout her youth, including Texas, France, California, Florida, Canada, Louisiana, Germany, and Tennessee. One of her interests when she was young was art and she became quite talented at drawing. She had a special love for cats and dogs and had many pets as a child, often taking in strays. She was a special friend to her brother Bill who was just a year older than her and they looked out for each other. Jo was a hard worker and liked to keep things organized. She graduated in 1975 from Kaiserslautern American High School in Germany. After high school she attended junior college business classes and worked as an office manager in Tennessee. Later she moved to Salt Lake City and got to know the nieces and nephew who lived there. They still have fond memories of the fun times they spent with Aunt Jo.
In 1986, at the young age of 28, as she was walking home after a day at her job in medical records at the University of Utah Hospital, a truck/pedestrian accident in a crosswalk drastically changed the rest of Jo’s mortal life. She was left with the effects of severe brain injury, including the loss of her memory and partial paralysis. The doctors did not believe that she would live through the night, but she hung onto life with great tenacity and through hard work over time regained many abilities, and a limited capacity to be independent. Her mother was her best friend and teacher for the rest of her life, and Jo would not have recovered so much without her care and advocacy.
Jo has accomplished many worthwhile things in the past thirty-eight years. She was still able to draw, and also learned to play melodies on the piano with her one good hand. She found enjoyment in reading about things in her encyclopedias, and she became expert at doing word searches. Most importantly, she was a loyal friend and a beloved daughter, sister, and aunt. She loved to help others. She was quick to show love and gratitude, and quick to apologize.
Jo is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has a testimony of her savior and his gospel. She served as a frequent temple patron during the time that her parents were temple workers in Atlanta, Georgia and Nashville, Tennessee, and in the past several years attended the Jordan River Temple in Utah whenever she had the opportunity. She loved to read her scriptures and often read them while she pedaled her exercise bike, as well as reading daily with her parents.
Jo Ann is survived by her mother and her four brothers and sisters-in-law: Richard and Kathleen Clemons, William and Mary Clemons, Phillip and Leita Clemons, and Steven and Bess Clemons; and her sister Beverly Arnason, as well as 23 nieces and nephews, and many grand-nieces and nephews. We will all miss her hugs and cheerful greetings. She was preceded in death by her father.
Jo’s family wishes to express their appreciation to all who have been friends to her through the years, especially many ward and branch members and caregivers.
Jo’s life has been a great blessing to all the members of her family. We have rejoiced with her in her accomplishments and sorrowed with her in her trials. She will be sorely missed.
A brief memorial service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, 7:00 p.m. at Sandy Health and Rehab, 50 E 9000 S, Sandy, Utah. Interment will be in Cookeville, Tennessee, near her father. Graveside service and interment will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 at 12:30 pm at Cookeville City Cemetery.

The family home was decorated with her handiwork which will be treasured forever by her family. She was a member of a variety of groups in Cookeville including the Embroidery Guild, a craft group, an investment club, a tennis group, a mahjong group, a bridge club, and a dinner club. Beginning in 1983, she relished her role as “Nana” to her grandchildren and, more recently, her great-grandchildren.

Martinez; Becky Scott Gray, her husband, David Gray, of Grafenwoehr, Germany, and their children, Erin Gray and Dane Gray; and, Sandy Scott Tinsley of Knoxville, TN, her children, Will Tinsley (wife, Robin, and son, Barrett), Andrew Tinsley (wife, Emily, and son, Weston), and Rachael Tinsley. Eddie Howard Gaw II - March 20, 1972 - March 20, 2024

Departed: 03/20/2024 (Cookeville)
Obituary Preview: Eddie Howard Gaw II, affectionately known as Little Eddie, entered Heaven on March 20, 2024, on his 52nd birthday, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Born on March 20, 1972, in Cookeville, TN to loving parents, Eddie H. Gaw and Joyce Dennis Sutton, Eddie was a beacon of kindness and friendliness in the community he loved and never left. He graduated from Cookeville HIgh School in 1990 and then TCAT Livingston in 1999. His love of horses led him to the sport of Cutting Horses, which led to meeting the love of his life, Calina Barnes Gaw, when he secured the services of her father, Ted Barnes, to train his horses. Calina and Eddie married on August 7, 1993 and enjoyed time together showing horses and traveling. 1999 brought two significant accomplishments for Eddie and Calina -the establishment of their business, Volunteer Heating and Cooling, and the arrival of their beloved daughter, Carley Faith. They soon taught Carley their love of the sport of cutting where she succeeded in reaching the top 15 in the world, to the great pride of her daddy who was by her side every step of the way. In addition to time with Calina and Carley, Eddie especially loved time with his brother Jason, sister-in-law Erin, and their children Luke, Noah, Ellie, and Lucy, including the times when Ellie and Lucy attempted to make him a ballerina. Eddie was known at Cookeville Boat Dock for his love of the lake and gatherings there where he showed off his grilling skills. He also thoroughly enjoyed attending cooking competitions with his competition barbeque team "the Snoring Hogs" with team members Brent Gentry and Tony Smith. He loved serving the community at the annual Lazy G stew cook every year, and his nephew Noah particularly loved the burgers his Uncle Eddie made. The cutting horse community across the country loved to see Eddie, Calina, and Carley at shows and enjoyed the close knit relationships they developed in and out of the show pen. In short, wherever Eddie was, the people around him benefited from his infectious laugh, his ability to fix anything, and his love of serving others.
Eddie is survived by Calina and Carley, father Eddie H. Gaw and wife Frida, mother Joyce Dennis Sutton and husband Danny, brother Jason Gaw and wife Erin, father-in-law and mother-in-law Ted and Anita Barnes, step-siblings Daniel Sutton and wife Rachel, Megan Swann and husband Ben, Christina Slemp and husband Jon, Carl Reece Nash, and Kimberly Nash, and several beloved uncles and aunts and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by grandparents Howard and Flossie Gaw and Dexter and Myrtle Dennis.
Visitation will take place on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Washington Avenue Baptist Church from 5 to 8 p.m., and again on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mark Gaw officiating. Eddie will be laid to rest following the service at Smyrna Cemetery.
The pallbearers entrusted with the honor of carrying Eddie are Daryl Blair, Tony Smith, Chris Fox, Chris Hawkins, Steve Hawkins, Brent Gentry, Mark Brady, and Dawson Davidson. Luke and Noah Gaw will serve as honorary pallbearers, a testament to the special bond he shared with his nephews. Additional honorary pallbearers will be Mike Cass, Greg Cass, Jon Slemp, Bryce Gentry, Blake Gentry, and Will Roberts.
Little Eddie's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his memory will be cherished through the stories of his kindness, his readiness to help, and the countless ways he made the world a better place. He will be remembered not just for the things he fixed with his hands, but for the lives he touched with his heart. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. www.stjude.org
