Jean grew up on a farm near Sulphur Springs, Texas.  She attended Sulphur Springs High School where she graduated in 1949.  During her school years she met her future husband Ben Mynard Smith.  They were married at a private residence in Sulphur Springs on Dec. 30th, 1950.
Jean and Mynard moved to Oklahoma City in 1951 and started their family a few years later.  They had three girls Gayle, Kay and Brenda.  They moved to Yukon in 1962 where Jean was a housewife for several years before becoming a waitress at the Chauteau Inn and The Hilltop Restaurant.  In the early 1970’s she became a Certified Apartment Manager and managed several complexes in Yukon, Norman and Oklahoma City until 1989.
She and Mynard built their forever home at Pioneer Lake in Meridian, OK.  in 1995.  They enjoyed the quiet country life and the private pond (lake) that the area provided.  Things might have been a little to quiet for Jean who found herself with too much time on her hands while Mynard ran their two Country Convenience Stores, so Jean went to work as a Walmart Greeter in Guthrie where she was voted Best Store Clerk by the readers of The Guthrie News Leaders Best of Guthrie in 2005.  She retired from Walmart in 2013 and moved back to Yukon to be closer to her family.
She began regular visits to the Dale Robertson Center with her special friend Albert Buckmaster.  She enjoyed playing Bingo, taking exercise classes and eating there for lunch daily until she could no longer attend due to her health.  She also enjoyed attending church services with Albert at Yukon Church.

Marshall Ross Jackson - October 16, 1921 - December 20, 2021

Departed: 12/20/2021 (Guthrie)
Obituary Preview: Marshall was born October 16, 1921, to Cleo and Ruby Jackson in Dallas, Texas.  Marshall was one of a kind for various reasons. One, he was a Ross, that name coming from his grandmother’s maiden name. This continued a long line of Ross’: Jerry Ross, Ricky Ross, and Ryan Ross.  Another was, he was a second generation born in Dallas, but he never claimed that distinction because he was raised at Point, TX. Marshall was a character through and through and was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many.
When the depression hit, the Jackson’s were forced to move because Cleo was unable to find a job. They moved to Point to live with the in-laws, David Ross Robinson. Marshall was 11 years old at the time.  His grandad was a very influential person in Marshall’s life and was the source of wit and wisdom which Marshall was known for.  One time, his dad and Marshall took the car to Dallas to a sale and happened by the funeral home on Forrest Avenue where Bonnie and Clyde were laid out for viewing.
Marshall’s dad became the Postmaster in Point and eventually a rural carrier. Marshall went to help his dad when the roads were muddy and that brought some interesting experiences. Once he was run over and smushed into the mud. One time he picked up a jackrabbit that had been frightened out of its senses and when the jackrabbit came to and he was holding it, it almost kicked the breath out of him.
He met Eloise Havins at school, and they decided to run off to Greenville and get married on March 23, 1940. After the wedding they worked for Homer Havins, Eloise’s father, for a year and then decided to move to Dallas to get enough money to make a crop. Jerry was born in 1942 and Gary Don came along 3 years later.
Marshall was drafted into the army in 1945. He took basic training in Fort Bliss at El Paso, Texas. He was shipped to Japan in the Allied Army of Occupation. By this time, he had two dependents which was a basis for discharge. He was discharged in 1946 and went back to his employer in Dallas.  A third son, Terry, was born in 1953.
Marshall was employed in the making of paint for 40 years and the sales of raw materials for paint. He retired in the early 90’s and moved to Hamlin, Texas to help on the farm with Jerry.  He later moved for a year to Sonora, Texas, where Eloise passed away in 2002.  He then moved to Anson, Texas and married his second wife, Lucille and lived there until her passing. In 2015, he moved to Oklahoma with family.
Marshall was a member of the Poplar & Warner church of Christ. He had served as an elder in the church of Christ in Cockrell Hill and later served as an elder in the Mesquite church of Christ for 25 years. Two of his sons, Jerry and Terry, served as ministers and Don served as an elder.
Marshall was preceded in death by his parents: Cleo and Ruby Grace Jackson; his sister Hattie Mae Northcutt; and his wife, Eloise Jackson.

Obituary Preview: Joleta (Jodi) Martin November 28, 1954 - December 10, 2021
Jodi lived a beautiful life with multiple everlasting friendships and loves.  When asked days before her passing what her most valuable possessions were, she responded with, “my two girls are my most valuable possessions and accomplishments in my eyes.”  And the love of my husband’s two boys who I loved just as much”.
She was loved by so many that adopted her as their bonus Mom or Nene.  In her younger years she loved to bowl and the friendships that started in the bowling leagues.
Jodi worked hard her whole life and became successful with a bachelor’s degree and being an Office Manager.  Her last employment when she became disabled, was with the Martin’s at Exit Reality.  Her favorite work included, to help people with their business activities when they had trouble with the office routine.  Her favorite things to do were watching reality shows, fishing, cruising on boat rides, playing board games with family, singing to the Lord and playing the piano or keyboard.
She loved worshipping God.  Jodi met her husband Paul, the love of her life.  Before they were married, he would drive to Blanchard to pick her up and bring her to the church to play keyboard and sing songs for the congregation.  Most would describe Jodi as an earth angel.  She was the first to offer assistance to someone in need, no matter the circumstance.
She was a member of the Healing Hearts Church where she, again, worshipping with her husband, Pastor Paul Martin until her health started to deteriorate from Lupus, RA and having problems breathing the last two years she wasn’t able to go anywhere, but, to the many Doctors and Hospital visits.
Everyone in the community knew her as Pastor Paul Martin’s wife and worship leader.  Jodi had a heart of gold and her faith never wavered as she fought a health condition for 5 years.  Even to the end before she was put under life support.
She asked the doctor and staff to remove her DNR, because she wanted to live and go home to her husband and family.  Jodi was in so much pain and COVID-19 though it had her, but God was victorious as he said on December 10, 2021 your work on earth is done.  Come home sweet angel and sing those beautiful songs to the Lord, she obliged.  Her love will be with us forever.
Waiting for her arrival were her dad, Jesse Hazen; sisters, Donita Rae Bentley and Jeanine Calloway.
She leaves to cherish her loving husband and best friend Paul TWJ Martin, Sr.; her mother Coy Darlene Hazen, who loved her baby girl so very much; her daughters, Angela Maxwell and Amy Stinson; her sons, Paul TWJ, II, and his wife, Lisa Martin and Jason and his wife, Regan Martin: her sisters, Linda and her Husband Jim Steele and Judy and her husband Larry Pierce; brother Bobby Lakin; one grandchild, four great-grandchildren, multiple nephews, nieces and extended family.
