She graduated from Early County High School in 2017. After graduation she moved to Ellenwood, Georgia to continue her education. She was employed at Calhoun State Prison as a Correctional Officer until she couldn't anymore, due to her battle with Lupus.
She was a great mother to her child Kanilah. She was the oldest sibling, and she acted as a second mother to all her siblings. She will be remembered for her kindness, caring heart, and willingness to help others. She held a special place in everyone's heart and she will be missed.
Keambra will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering optimism, and her profound love for life. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and joy.

Obituary Preview: Larodo Rogers was born on March 25, 1981, in Blakely, Georgia,  to Peggy Rogers-Igles and Barney Lee Igles, Jr.  He departed his earthly life on February 23, 2024, in Burnsville, Minnesota.
Larodo was educated through the Early County School System and was part of the Early County High School Class of 1999.  He graduated from police academy in Selma, Alabama, in 2003.  He served as a law enforcement officer for five-plus years, serving in Houston County, Midland City, Louisville and Newton, Alabama.  He then went on to work in the construction and maintenance industry.
Larodo was a devout Christian and firm believer in the Word of GOD, always willing to lend a kind, comforting word or prayer in times of need.  He was very friendly and outgoing, easily labeled the life of the party.  He had an extraordinary sense of humor. A huge Georgia Bulldogs fan, he would spend most Saturdays watching the games and yelling “How ‘Bout Them Dawgs”.  He loved spending time with his children, family and friends.
Larodo’s presence will be missed by those who knew and loved him.  He was preceded in death by his father Barney Lee Igles Jr., maternal grandparents Joe Grady and Emma Rogers, paternal grandparents Barney Igles, Sr. and Mary Evans, and aunt Josephine Taylor.

Dennis was born September 9, 1988, the son of Willie Charles Cawthon Sr. and Sally Catherine Smith Cawthon.  He was a native of Blakely, Georgia.
He was introduced to CHRIST at an early age and joined the Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church as a youth.  In 2013, Dennis was baptized as an adult when he joined Church Street Church of Christ in Blakely under the spiritual guidance of Minister James E. Scurlark.
Dennis graduated from Early County High School in 2007.  After graduation, he attended ABAC College in Tifton, Georgia;  Bainbridge College in Blakely; and Wallace Community College in Dothan, Alabama, obtaining his credentials as an LPN.  Dennis loved helping people while working at Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center and CSL Plasma in Dothan.
He was joined in marriage to Tonya Smith.  They later divorced.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father Willie Charles Cawthon, paternal grandparents Robert and Edna Cawthon, and maternal grandparents Sampson and Jurrie Smith.
Dennis leaves to forever cherish his memories his loving mother, Sally Catherine Smith Cawthon of Blakely, GA; son, Dennis Brent Cawthon of Dothan, AL; brothers:  Willie C. Obituary Preview: We gather today to honor the life of a remarkable lady, Mary Constance Thornton Washington, also known as “Honey”.  Born in 1928, Mary’s life was a testament to kindness, selflessness, and perseverance.  As a devoted mother and grandmother, her love was unwavering, her strength and guidance immeasurable.  As a caring daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and coworker, she was kind, dependable, and trustworthy.
She was born in Early County to the late Carl Thornton and Pinkie Thorpe Thornton.  On January 2, 2024, she went to be with her HEAVENLY FATHER for Eternal Rest.
She began her education at Early County Training School and then transferred to Washington High School, where she graduated.  She would later marry the love of her life, “the boy next door”, Mr. Zion Washington.  To this union seven children were born.
As a dedicated member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, she worked faithfully in various positions within the church, including Sunday School teacher and chorister until her health started to decline.  Her body may have weakened, but her faith never diminished.
Mary worked as a Nursing Assistant and Respiratory Therapist at Early Memorial Hospital and Archbold Medical Center until her retirement.  In her leisure, she enjoyed traveling, reading, word puzzles, and spending time with family.  She also enjoyed spending time outdoors with nature, especially flowers.
Memories of her will be cherished by those who love her--four children:  Billie (Mary) Washington, Deborah Washington, Patrick Washington, and Kenneth Washington; twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Norma Jean Gadson; one brother-in-law, Will Washington Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three children, and five siblings.
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” was her motto.

Obituary Preview: Mrs. Erma Jean James–a loving daughter, wife, and a mother of five–was born on July 9, 1949, to Mr. Toylee Pittman and Ms. Dorothy George.  She was a native of Blakely, Georgia.
She attended Early County High School, where she met her husband, Lonnie James Jr., in 1967.  She entered a Certified Nursing Assistant program in Albany, Georgia, and received her certification.  As a CNA, Erma impacted the lives of patients and their families in their times of need.  She worked in the Georgia Medical System for more than twenty years and loved every moment of it.
On January 15, 1975, Erma symbolized her dedication to Jehovah God by means of water baptism.  She gave her best in service to God faithfully attending congregation meetings when she could and engaging in the public ministry work.  Erma was a kindhearted and generous Sister; and even despite her health problems, she gave her every ounce of strength to do the work of the Lord.
Erma passed away in the late hours on December 30, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.  She was preceded in death by her husband Lonnie James Jr. and her daughter Tammie Holmes.
She is survived by her children:  Angela AlHattali Bradley, Lonnie James III, Latisha Griffin, and Latasha Gates; sons-in-law: Tomontreall Bradley, Travis Griffin, and Rodney Gates; grandchildren: Calvin Holmes, Jeramey Lee, Christopher Holmes, Kayla James, Melik James, Mateo James, and Nolan Gates; great grandchildren:  Nykeil Holmes, Kassey Holmes, Sage Holmes, Sylus Holmes, and Koi Walton; sister, Lorene Jackson; brothers:  Benjamin Brown, Sam Brown, Charles Brown, and Willie Brown; Brothers and Sisters from the Kingdom Hall; and a host of other relatives and devoted friends.

Having had accepted CHRIST as SAVIOR in her life, she was a member of Stephen Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she was Financial Secretary until her failing health kept her mostly housebound.  Ida was an employee of the Early County School System for ten years before retiring in 2011.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories five children:  Wellington O’neal Henderson Sr., Sharon Davis (Johnny), Michael Henderson (Iris, deceased), Kimberly Henderson, and Kristina Henderson; nine grandchildren: Brandi McClendon Stringer (Mark), Alexia Foster, Christopher Alexander, Kahlil Stapleton (Chasity), Kayla Stapleton, Taneill Henderson, Wellington O’neal Henderson Jr., Deshaun Henderson, and Christian Dozier; thirteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host  other loved ones.

Obituary Preview: Juanita Rainge was born September 28, 1932, in Blakely, Georgia, to Inoes and Rosie Lee Lewis Murrell.  GOD called her Home on Wednesday, December20, 2023.  She attended Union Hill School in Blakely.  She accepted CHRIST early in life and became a member of Mt. Hosea Freewill Baptist Church, where she served as a dedicated member for over 40 years.  In 1980, Juanita joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, and in 2021, she joined Church Street Church of Christ, where she faithfully served until death.
She was a consummate homemaker diligently providing for the well-being of her family.  Juanita was an avid fisherman, never missing an opportunity to fish.  She enjoyed the tranquility of fishing, and it was clearly her most cherished pastime.  Juanita also enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.
Juanita had very close friendships with Dollie Battle and Ernestine Wade, often socializing at church functions, fishing and other activities.  They, along with her cherished loved ones, will miss her presence here on earth but have comfort in knowing one day they will meet again.
Juanita leaves to cherish her loving memories (4) sons:  Louie Edward Rogers, Willie C. Rogers (Virginia), Terry Rainge (Joyce), all of Blakely, GA, and John Rogers (Pam) of Panama City, FL; and (6) daughters:  Mary Lee Rogers-Johnson, Mary J. Wade, Jeanette Gilbert, Helen Francis Rainge, Angela Perkins (Charles), all of Blakely, GA, and Sheila Tinson (Eddie) of Dothan AL; (21) grandchildren; (52) great grandchildren, and a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
One child, Jay Junior, preceded her in death.  She had (3) brothers:  Murray Murrell (Inez), Zelotis Murrell (Ilene), both of West Palm Beach, FL, and Willie Lee Murrell (Dorothy) of Blakely, GA, and (1) sister, Vera Mae Stovall of Blakely GA; all of whom preceded her in death.

Lyles and the late Mark Lyles.  He was a 1984 graduate of Early County High School in Blakely, Georgia.  He was definitely a faithful worker for Universal Blanchers, where he started on June 14, 1985.  The company became Olam Edible Nuts, and he continued working until his health began to fail.  McAuthor departed his earthly life on Monday, November 6, 2023, at his place of residence.  Two sisters, Eloise Grace and Linda Lyles, and one brother, Johnny Grace, preceded him in death.
A man of extraordinary courage, MacArthur embraced challenges with a spirit that was both daring and determined. His tenacity was not just a trait but a beacon for all those who knew him, inspiring them to face their own struggles with unwavering bravery. As American author Mark Twain once said, "Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear." MacArthur embodied this quote, living a life of courage and resilience.
MacArthur's love knew no bounds. It was seen in his everyday actions, in the way he treated people, and most importantly, in the kindness that he spread. His loving nature was not just limited to his close ones, but extended to every life he touched. This made him a friend to all, someone who could light up a room with his warmth and friendliness.
To know MacArthur was to understand the true meaning of friendship. He was a friend in the deepest sense of the word, always there to lend a helping hand, share a laugh, or console in times of distress. His friendly demeanor and infectious smile made him a cherished companion to many.
In essence, MacArthur Lyles was a man who lived his life to the fullest--fearlessly, lovingly, and friendly. He was a beacon of light in our lives, and although he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. As we remember MacArthur, let his life be a reminder that courage, love, and friendship are the true measures of a life well lived.

Obituary Preview: Mr. Genie Mills Jr. was born on January 16, 1951, to the late Mr. Genie Mills, Sr. and Mrs. Ella Ree Mills.  He was the youngest of their six children.
Genie received his formal education in the Early County School System.  He attended Washington High School, which was integrated to the Early County High School, from where he graduated in 1969.  Upon graduation, he completed an Associate Degree in Accounting.  His career paths led him to work as a paraprofessional at Early County Middle School for several years.  Once retired from the school system, he took on a position as a night-shift security guard for Georgia Pacific.
From his youth until THE LORD called him Home, Genie was a faithful member of his home church, Good Hope African Methodist Episcopal.  As a devoted servant to Good Hope, he served in multiple capacities.  He was the Sunday School Superintendent and a trustworthy steward at his family church and was the Secretary for the Cedar Springs Circuit. Anything he could do to support his church, he was ready, willing and able to step up and get it done.
On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, our beloved Genie departed from this life into eternity.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mrs. Minne Mills Johnson (Eulie).
Remaining to cherish his legacy are one brother, Henry Alfred Mills (Ozetta); three sisters:  Emma Jean Nettles (Allen), Betty J. Mills, and Glynda Ree Harris (Richard); along with a host of nieces, nephews, close cousins, and loved ones.

Born on June 18, 1954, in Blakely, Georgia, Willie's life was marked by a spirit of adventure, a knack for fixing things, and a generous heart that touched numerous lives.
Willie was the beloved son of Willie C and Rheba Russell, both of whom preceded him in death. He was one of a large and loving family, which included four brothers, Willie Lee, C.B., Willie Jr., and Willie Floyd, and two sisters, Willie Ruth and Earlene Pritchard.
Willie is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Young, and his four children, LaVar Russell of Fort Pierce, Florida, Gary Russell of Jupiter, Florida, and Danielle and Stacey of Blakely, Georgia. He was a cherished grandfather to Anthony, Elijah, Bella, and Liam, all of Fort Pierce, Florida.
Willie's surviving siblings include his brothers, Roy Russell (Josephine) and R. C. Russell, both of Blakely, Georgia. He leaves behind three sisters-in-law: Rebecca Lamar of Jupiter, Florida, Cindy Gordon of Orlando, Florida, and Elaine Davidson of North Carolina. Willie's extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, as well as a large circle of friends, will miss him deeply.
For many years, Willie was a reliable and skilled driver for two trucking companies, Empire and J & J Trucking. His work allowed him to indulge his love for travel and explore new places, a passion that continued into his retirement. His colleagues remember him as a dedicated worker who always had a story to share from his journeys on the road.
Outside of work, Willie was known for his adventurous spirit and his handy nature. He loved to tinker and fix things, a skill that often came in handy for his family and friends. Willie was also incredibly generous, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer support to those in need. His kindness and generosity of spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.
In the words of Mark Twain, "The secret of getting ahead is getting started." Willie lived this quote, never shying away from a new adventure or challenge. His zest for life was infectious, inspiring those around him to seize opportunities and live life to the fullest.
We mourn the loss of Willie, but we also celebrate a life well-lived. His legacy of love, adventure, and generosity will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Willie's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the joy of exploration. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. We are grateful for the time we had with Willie and for the many ways he enriched our lives. His memory will always be a blessing.

Obituary Preview: Anna Johnson Gray Lawrence was born October 8, 1924, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the union of Dorsey Johnson and Pinley Allen Johnson.  She received her education in the public schools of Houston County, Alabama, where she excelled in basketball.  There she attended and joined the churches in the clay soil of Alabama.  Later in life, she moved her membership to the sandy soil and churches of Georgia:  first to Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, then to Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church.  She remained a member of Mount Olive and attended both churches until her health failed.    To the sandy soils of Georgia, she brought her first child Christine Stovall from a previous relationship.  Here she met and married Simmie D. Gray Sr.; this relationship bore three children:  Simmie Gray Jr., Willie Pearl Gray, and Nathaniel Gray.  Christine, Pearl and Nathaniel preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by two daughters-in-law, Joyce and Eula; a granddaughter, Christina Gray Newsome; and her former husband, Morris Lawrence.
On October 22, 2023, Gabriel sounded his horn and called her name; SHE WAS READY!! She answered his call, bowed her head, closed her eyes and went to sleep.  Her soul entered the Pearly Gates to be with the angels and family gone on before her.
She leaves to cherish her memories three sons:  Simmie Gray Jr. of Plainfield, NJ, Eddie C.  Gray (Gwen), and Jonathan Severson, both of Orlando, FL [sons of Simmie Sr.]; along with two special cousins, Hazel Allen Jacobs (Claude) of Atlanta, GA, and Mamie Gray of Blakely, GA; and a host other cousins and relatives too numerous to mention.  She also leaves grands and great grands–three special grands:  Demetrie Gray (Wanda) of Barnesville, GA, Claude A. Gray of Blakely, GA, and Simmie D. Gray III of Plainfield, NJ; as well as two adopted grands, Mark Kemper (Helen) of New York City, NY, and Orlando Casada (Lisa) of Plainfield, NJ.

On February 9, 1973, Janet was joined in Holy Matrimony for thirty-eight years to her late husband, Tommy Jacobs, Jr. To this union were born five beautiful daughters.
She was also preceded in death by: a sister, Juanita Broughton; and son-in-law, William Grant.

Roxie accepted CHRIST as her LORD and SAVIOR at an early age.  She was a faithful and active member of Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Jakin.  As a lifelong member, she served in many capacities.
Roxie became the beloved wife of Lonnie Davis Jr. on July 17, 1965.  They were married for 53 years.
Roxie attended school in Early County, Georgia, and graduated from Carver High School in 1950.  Thereafter, she attended Albany State College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  She began her teaching career in 1954.  She taught in the Early County School System at Kesler Elementary in Damascus, Georgia, for many years and later at Early County Elementary School in Blakely, Georgia.  Although she retired from the school system, she never stopped teaching.  Being a lifelong educator, she had an impact on the lives of so many people.  She was an inspiration to all whom she encountered.  She had a heart and passion for helping others.  It was her desire to see others excel in life through hard work, education, faith and integrity.  She was full of knowledge, often sharing and reminiscing on the past.  She loved THE LORD.
Roxie was active in the church and community.  She served as a Steward, Chairperson of the Usher Board and member of the Missionary Society, and she worked in the Sunday School.  She served as Co-Chairperson for the Church Family and Friends’ Day, as well as the Church Anniversary.  In May 2013 she was recognized as Mother of the Year.  She was also a member of the Civic-Minded Guardians, member of the Retired Teachers Association and Life Member of the Order of Eastern Star Rose of Sharon Chapter #124.
Roxie departed her earthly life on October 6, 2023.  She was a beloved stepmother, aunt, cousin and friend.  She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; eight brothers Charlie B., Johnny K., Joshua C. Sr, Wilson, John, Samuel, Abraham and Lonnie; and five sisters Irene, Mary Magdalene, Jennie, Susie and Mittie.
She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted and loving family:  Neil Davis (Grant, FL); Gail Davis (Tallahassee, FL); special niece and caregiver Frankie Lewis (Jakin, GA) , special nephew and caregiver Willie Ford (Jakin, GA); three sisters-in law:  Corine Ford, Earlyne Ford (both of Jakin, GA), and Ruth Churchwell (Dunnellon, FL); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
