He moved to the US in 1994 to Stratford, CT., and continued being a skilled handyman. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Regina Waluszko Jankowski, two sons Mirek Jankowski and wife Katarzyna of Radzie, Poland, Slawek Jankowski and wife Renata of Monroe, CT., grandchildren Karolina, Eryk, Olivia, Konrad, Julia and great-grandson Kacper Jankowski. He leaves behind his siblings Danuta and Tadeusz Jankowski of Poland.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 10am in St. Michael the Archangel Church, Bridgeport followed by interment in St. John Cemetery, Monroe. Stanislawa was always on the go and always had somewhere to be; yet, at the Connecticut Hospice, the care and love exuded by the staff allowed for her to finally rest.She was born on May 1, 1935 in a small village – Małowista – in northeastern Poland. Stanislawa immigrated to the United States in 1965 with her husband and eldest son, arriving in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She then had two more children once in the States. She moved her family to a house in Stratford, Connecticut.If there is one to thing to know about Stanislawa, it’s how strong she was. She found work at Dresser Industries (now Ashcroft), where she was a factory welder for decades. This is just one small testament to her grit, perseverance, and strength. She was proud of her Polish heritage and enjoyed a vibrant community at Saint Michael the Archangel Parish in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Stanislawa always helped those in need – she would send care packages back to Poland filled to the brim with sweaters, pants, socks, and coats. She helped countless people, both relatives and friends, immigrate to the United States. She opened her home without hesitation, clothing and feeding them, helping them find work, and guiding them through their new life here. She loved to garden and made sure that her lawn was always pristine. She maintained the most vibrant garden, lawn, and flower beds one can imagine. Year after year her garden would produce tomatoes, peppers, beets, cabbage, carrots, and more – the grocery store’s produce could never compete. She was also fervently passionate about cooking – she loved making traditional Polish dishes, from gołąbki, to kapusta, and all sorts of placki and pierogi. If you went to her home, you would always be presented with a hot meal – she would never let anyone leave even slightly hungry. Stanislawa built a beautiful life here in America. She leaves us with a legacy of love of family, hope, and strength. Although she left her homeland Poland, she never left her family. They say it takes a village – but Stanislawa built our village. She supported her family her entire life. Her love of her grandchildren was evident. She chose to be with them at every spare moment. During these times we was truly the happiest.She is survived by her sister Leokadia Borowiak of Białystok, Poland, her daughter, Bernadette Gaul and her husband, Ronald Gaul of Milford, Connecticut, her grandchildren, Julia Gaul, Ronald Gaul Jr., and Shawn Gaul of Milford, Connecticut, her great-grand child, Christopher Damiani of West Haven, Connecticut, and many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
