Obituary Preview: Timothy James Placide was born on July 23, 2001, to Ulrick and Kristie Placide. His birth was a joy to all, especially his older sibling. Timothy’s childhood was full of delight, laughter, and love. His parents taught him the value and importance of “Family” from a very young age. Timothy cherished his family and friends. He always brought happiness and laughter to any family event. Tim was very close to his siblings and shared many laughs and good conversations with them, especially his sister Sonia. Being born 18 months apart, these two were partners in crime, where you saw one, the other was not far… Tim also enjoyed the exposure to a great variety of experiences, travel and activities that made him a strong, well-rounded child, full of perspectives, sympathy, empathy, and genuineness. He was caring, accepting, accommodating, helpful, funny, and a true joy to be around!

He attended school in Ellenville where he was well liked, flourished and made lifelong friends. He participated in sports, such as little league, track and field, and football. He soon discovered his love for soccer in Middle School and played for the school team through his senior year. Tim learned from his parents how to be a good friend; discreet, sincere, confidential and was loyal. While at school and during breaks, he also held a variety of jobs, learned new skills, and acquired a good work ethic. He often worked side by side with his father doing side jobs and mowing lawns.

Upon his graduation from High School, he attended Herkimer College, where he continued to play soccer. Tim continued to work and learn, embracing whatever his hand found to do, be it new technology, solar panels, carpentry, and various other jobs.

In 2021 Tim bought home his beloved puppy, Xerxes, whom he adored and loved. Xerxes bought Tim so much comfort, joy, and companionship.

In 2022 Tim started dating the love of his life, Sydney, his girlfriend of whom he spoke highly, with much respect, pride, hope, admiration, and LOVE! Her company, along with her family, motivated him to be and to do better, and to want more of what life has to offer.

On December 5, 2022, Timothy passed away in his sleep. Timothy was predeceased by his grandparents Ulrick Sr. and Sonia Placide. He left to miss him, love and remember him his loving parents Kristie and Ulrick Placide Jr., his siblings Molly and Sonia Lynn Placide, his much loved girlfriend, Sydney Franza, his adoring grandparents Kathleen and Jim Vogelsang, his aunts Tatie Stephanie Placide and Family, Tatie Junia Boutros and Family, Tatie Ruth-Elie Beauvoir and Family, Tatie Anne-Elie Morisseau and Family, Tatie Benjamin Seraphin and Family, Aunt Jennifer Williams and Family; his Uncles: Uncle Daniel Placide and Family, Uncle Samuel Placide and Family, Uncle Len Wheat and Family, Uncle Jeff Durham and Family; a host of cousins; his Godparents, Yolanda Désarmé and Charles J. Reid, the church family and countless friends.

With that smile that lit up any room, Timothy will be always loved and remembered by so very many! We thank God for his life that though short was meaningful and touched numerous others.

He was the son of the late Allen W. and Carol V. (Lewis) VanLoan, born on November 6, 1958 in Livingston Manor, NY.

Allen worked as a truck driver at the end of his career but for the majority of his career he drove a garbage truck. He loved his tools and working on cars and was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and cooking. But above all else he loved his family and a special passion for his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Jane Ross; his children Rena Decker (William “Bill”), Kimberly Rodriguez (Angel), Allen “Herbie” VanLoan, Charlene Ross and Robin Young; grandchildren Anthony Mitchell (Miranda Stickel), William Decker, Jr. (Tavia Heintz), Allen Decker (Aliana Gonzalez), Tiffany Decker (Anthony Marcano), Isiah Rodriguez, Joshua Rodrigez, David Rosario, Elizabeth Quinonez; great-grandchildren Anthony, Eli, Axel, Riley, Remi, Lilli, Summer, Tatianna, Catalina; siblings Robert VanLoan (Sophia), Daniel VanLoan (Vickie), Edwin Lewis, Annie VanLoan and Richard VanLoan (Jean); as well as several nieces and nephews and in particular his special niece Pricella Jones. She worked as a clerk at A&P, Great American and Shop Rite, where she retired from. She was always complimented on her long braid, humor, and quick smile. She enjoyed her family, friends, and gardening

In addition to her parents, Jackie is predeceased by her husband, Eugene, and her brother, Richard “Dick” DePuy.

She is survived by her children; Joseph Pere, Doreen Huebner (Gary) and Colleen Hough (Ed); her grandchildren; Caitlin (fiancé Jordan Merklin), Wade (fiancé Christina Herschel), Morgan, Lindsey, Jacquelyne and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held privately at the convenience of the family at Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery.

Memorials can be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

In his free time he enjoyed watching wrestling and martial arts, and always looked forward to the next family road trip. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him, he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Lisa J. Acton, whom he shared 42 years with; his children Diedre Rodriguez and Darryl Lindsey (Amanda Quattrochi); grandchildren Joseph, Nova, Ayla; and sister Antoinette Williamson; as well as two nephews. He now joins in Heaven his brother Rodney.

Bruce is survived by his fiancé, Linda Boyd; his son, Bruce Aldrich, Jr. and fiancé, Laura Perino; his daughter, Michelle Hallett and husband, John Hallett; his grandchildren, Jessica and Jonathan Hallet, Brianna Aldrich, and Jordan Hoffman; his siblings, Basil, Bernie, and Brenda Aldrich; and several nieces and nephews.

His greatest joy in life was his family. He was a successful trainer and former driver with a current stable full of racehorses at Monticello Raceway. His proudest moments in horse racing were working with Jazz Cosmos for Mickey McNichol and Sundance Skipper for Carl Allen. His favorite horses were Samsawinner and Witch and Famous.

Many remember Bruce for his sense of humor and positive attitude. He was a true hero throughout his life and faced every battle with a smile. The owlrd will not shine as bright without his smile and it will be quieter without his laughter. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Paul D. Miller - October 30, 1954 - April 19, 2021

Obituary Preview: With deep sadness and regret we announce the passing of Paul Miller following a valiant and stoic fight with cancer and related health issues. He died peacefully at home in the presence of his beloved and caring wife Dawn at the age of 66. He will be missed by many.

Paul was born to Max and Sylvia (Bizinsky) Miller in Monticello, NY. He lived the majority of his life on the same property in the Town of Thompson where his parents operated a bungalow colony until 1976. He had strong ties to the Hurleyville, NY community throughout his life and was bah mitzfahed at the Congregation Anschei synagogue there. He graduated from Monticello H.S. in 1972 and continued his education in engine repair at the GM Training Center in Terrytown, NY and soon opened his first car repair shop in Hurleyville.

He was a self-employed businessman with his longest and last venture being Miller's Tire and Carwash in South Fallsburg where he had a very loyal customer base that appreciated the ethical and considerate way he conducted himself until he retired in 2015. He was admired by family and friends alike for his innate mechanical ability to fix almost anything and his entrepreneurial skills and success. He was known as someone that could be relied upon and didn't hesitate to help anyone in need.

He was always a "car" guy who restored and enjoyed a number of classic vehicles. He was a lifelong NASCAR fan and tractor enthusiast.

He was predeceased by his parents as well as by aunts and uncles Lou and Esther Polsky, Jack and Miriam Stein and Irving and Lillian Ainxt. He's survived by his wife Dawn Lyons Miller at home, sister Marilyn Betters (Roger) next door and many cousins including Shelly Fogel of Oakland, Ca, Karen Litvack (Joe) of Delray Beach, FL, their daughters Jacki Roth (Bob) and Andrea Stock (Warren); Alan Polsky (Linda) of Spotsylvania, VA and their daughters Marissa Goldsmith (Stephen) and Lauren Mudd (Jay). He also leaves behind many close and supportive friends including Don Foster, Chris Sutton, Les Hyde, Paul Lounsberry, Otto Schembeckler, Chris Hummel, Kathy Beseth and Jim Manzi and a host of others that appreciated his mensch qualities.

As per his wishes he was cremated with no wake or funeral services. A memorial celebration is being considered after the Covid restrictions are lifted. The family would like to thank Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties for their compassionate care during his last days. Donations can be made in his name to the charity of your choice.

Edna was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 21, 1929. In search of a better life for her two young children, she moved to Monticello, New York where she raised them. Edna was a generous and caring mother who worked tirelessly to provide for her family. She worked at the Concord Hotel for over two decades, starting as a housekeeper and retiring as the supervisor of housekeeping. For a brief period after retirement, Edna and her husband, Charlie, owned and operated the “This and That” thrift store on Broadway in Monticello, where they gave away more things than they sold. After Charlie passed, Edna spent some time in Largo, Florida and eventually settled in Saratoga Springs, New York to be with her family.

Edna is survived by her son, John Saunderson, and her daughter, Ellen Fitzpatrick. She is also survived by five grandchildren who loved her very much, Jen Girard, Dylan Saunderson, Brooke Saunderson, Taylor Saunderson, and Brianna Kugler. Edna is also survived by her two great-grandchildren who loved to visit GG, Julian Girard and Ruby Girard. Edna is survived by her four siblings who she loved with all her heart, Ina Clausen, Edward Clausen, Robert Clausen, and Joan Mulhern. Edna was predeceased by her parents Linda Clausen and Harry Lane; and her husband Charles Beaman.

Edna was an amazingly humble person who never forgot where she came from and after surrendering her life to the Lord later in life, always knew exactly where she was going.

Services were privately held by the family. Edna was laid to rest at the Sullivan County Veteran’s Cemetery with her late husband Charles.

Sue fought long and hard most of her adult life and always was searching for a cure and support of her autoimmune diseases which included Scleroderma, Lupus, and Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Born in New York City on December 28th 1924, she was the daughter of Marie J. Quigan and Frank J. Quigan, chairman of Fedders Inc. Jeanne grew up in New York City and went on to graduate from Cornell University in 1946. Jeanne enjoyed spending her summers at the family country home, which she fondly called “The Farm” in Fraser Settlement, Bethel, New York, where her ancestors had settled in 1808 and where she and her husband spent much time after retirement.

Jeanne was married to Walter (Scotty) Scott, architect and artist in New York City, for 44 years until his death in 1992. They met at Cornell while he was in naval officer training during WWII and she was a student. Jeanne told stories about Scotty coming to visit her at home after she graduated and he had returned from military service in the South Pacific and how she would meet him at the old Penn Station platform in NYC.

Jeanne loved to dance. She was trained in ballet and then went on to excel in modern dance at Cornell where she led undergraduate dance classes. She exceled in ballroom dance too, and even in her nineties she could still “cut a rug”. She remembered “dancing across the Atlantic” on the QE2 and the Queen Mary more than once.

Jeanne and Scotty and their two daughters lived in Westchester County and spent their summers on “The Farm” in Fraser Settlement. Jeanne had many friends and was very involved in both communities. After being a homemaker and raising their two girls, she became a real estate broker in Bronxville, New York. Jeanne was an active member of the Liberty Garden Club, loved gardening and bridge, and volunteered for the Sullivan County Historical Society as their PR representative. She remained involved as an alumna with the Westchester chapter of her college sorority Pi Beta Phi and continued to volunteer in support of their mission for many years. She was very active in the Episcopal Church in both Westchester and Sullivan Counties for most of her life and was a member of the Vestry; she remained, as she would say, a “Morning Prayer Episcopalian”. Jeanne loved and passionately recorded her Fraser and Watson family history. Until she died, she lived an independent, active and very full life, surrounded by her family that she adored and the cats and dogs she loved so much.

Jeanne is survived by her daughter Patricia Scott Langton and husband Cleve Swanson Langton, daughter Laura Scott Westcott and husband Peter Thomas Westcott, granddaughter Elizabeth Renwick Langton Zeckendorf and husband Arthur William Zeckendorf III, grandson Cleve (“Kip”) Swanson Langton, Jr. and fiancée Jaclyn Victoria Lawrence, and great grandson Arthur William Zeckendorf IV.
