Obituary Preview: Viola M. Myers, 89, of Lewisberry went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center, Camp Hill. She was born September 30, 1932, in Fairview Township the daughter of the late Clarence and Velma (Conley) Wentz.
Viola was the widow of Bradley G. Myers.
She was a member of Christian Life Assembly in Camp Hill, where she was the former Nursery Director and His Closet  volunteer.
Viola is survived by one son, Kenneth M. Myers (Teresa) of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter, Julie A. Hoyt (Donald) of Canandaigua, NY; one brother, Clarence Wentz, Jr. of Lewisberry; two sisters, Yvonne Danner of Milton, Ferne Rohrbaugh of Lewisberry; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022, 2:00 pm at the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg. Viewings will be held Monday from 6-8 pm and on Tuesday from 1-2 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Emanuel Cemetery, Lewisberry.

Gerald Leo Ryman - August 11, 1930 - April 10, 2022

Obituary Preview: Gerald Leo Ryman, 91 of Dillsburg and formerly of Lebanon, passed away Sunday morning, April 10th, 2022 at UPMC West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg, PA.
He was born Monday, August 11th, 1930 in West Wyoming, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Marvin and Grace Waters Ryman. He was the widower of his late beloved wife, Margaret "Maggie" E. Batdorf Ryman.
He was predeceased by his two brothers, Charles Ryman, of Michigan and Reuel Ryman, of Hummelstown, PA.
Gerald was a graduate of the Milton Hershey School and was a retired Maintenance employee for the Federal Government, having worked for the former Olmsted Air Force Base and  Defense Mapping Agency where he retired in 1985.
Gerald is survived by his children: Kelly Puccetti and her husband, Clarence (Dean), of Dillsburg; Kim Roberts, and her husband Ron, of Broad Run, VA and Lex Ryman, of Lebanon.  3 Granddaughters and 7 Great-Grandchildren.
Gerald loved his sports on TV,  apple pie with ice cream, his dog Misty, tinkering with electronics, but he especially loved his family.  He was never short on telling us how proud he was of all of his children and grandchildren. He loved cars, never gave up an opportunity to take a ride in a fast car or convertible. He loved taking little excursions and morning drives with his beloved wife Maggie. He loved having his daily breakfast with his buddies. He was a unique man and made friends every where he went.
A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.

Stephen J. Davis, MD - June 08, 1949 - April 07, 2022

Obituary Preview: Dr. Stephen J. Davis, MD, 72, of Camp Hill passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, at the Penn State Health Hampden Medical Center, Enola.
He was born June 8, 1949, at the Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines,  the son of the late Frank Davis, Jr. and Josephine (Habib) Davis.
Dr. Davis was a retired physician. He specialized in Internal Medicine and Pulmonology and maintained his private practice and affiliation with Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill from 1981 until his retirement in 2016.
Dr. Davis completed his undergraduate studies at Texas A. & M. University and medical school at the University of Texas-Dallas. He then went on to do his internship and fellowship at the United States Air Force Wilford Hall Medical Center, San Antonio, TX.  Dr. Davis served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
Dr. Davis was a member of the West Shore Evangelical Free Church, Mechanicsburg. He enjoyed tennis, history, and taught himself Ancient Greek and enjoyed visiting Greece.
He is survived by his wife Karen M. (Nellis) Davis; one son, Stephen Justin Davis (Suzanne) of Malvern; one granddaughter, Lillian Grace; and two step-grandsons, Josh and Sam. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Davis, III and a sister, Kristen Davis.
Services and burial will be held privately in the Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Tim was a retired Warehouse Supervisor for the Mechanicsburg Navy Depot.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Tim was a member and past commander of the Dillsburg American Legion Post #26, Carlisle AmVets Post #274, and was a lifetime member of the Lower Allen V.F.W., Post #7530.
Tim loved his grandchildren and enjoyed Alabama football, Dallas Cowboys and John Wayne.
He is survived by his companion, Shirley A. Brandt; two sons, Sean E. Summers of York, Shane E. Summers of Bunnlevel, NC; two step-daughters, Kim Kelly of Jonestown, Debbie Brandt of West Chester; one brother, Daniel Summers of Lewes, DE; and thirteen grandchildren, Amanda, Zachary, Emma, Jake, Nicole, Cami, Madalene, Parker, Oliva, Kay, Sophie, Ellie, and Remi. Tim was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Summers.
A celebration of life will be held at the Dillsburg American Legion on Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 1-4 pm.

Obituary Preview: Patricia Ellen Meyers was joyfully received into the loving arms of Jesus after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She passed away on April 5, 2022, at the age of 63, thanking the lord for each and every day she was blessed with.
Patty was born on March 17th, 1959, the daughter of Gladys (Schucker) Knepp and Calvin Knepp Jr., who preceded her in death. Her Grandparents were Calvin Knepp Sr., and Elizabeth (Elsie) Knepp; and Roy and Viola Schucker.  Her sister Judy Petryshak, with whom she shared a tender bond, also passed on before her.
Patty graduated from Curwensville Area High School in 1977, and attended Harrisburg Area Community College where she earned her Associate degree in Applied Science. Patty was employed at the US naval base in Mechanicsburg, PA, until her retirement in 2015.
Patty leaves behind her loving husband, Donald Meyers, daughter Amelia (Atkins) Burns, foster daughter Brandy Karney and her son Brody, as well as Patty’s cherished pets Clyde and Butters.
Patty is also survived by her brothers, Andrew Knepp and his wife Donna of Schuylkill Haven and Terry Knepp and his wife Judy of Morrisdale. Also surviving is her sister, Wendy Knepp and husband Dewey of Curwensville. She will be fondly remembered by her many neices and newphews whom she loved dearly.
Patty and Don opened up their home to many foster children throughout their marriage and loved and cared for them like their own. They also shared their home with an exchange student from Switzerland, Mia Bandi.
A celebration of Life service will be held at Compass Point Church, 15 East Church St. Dillsburg, PA, on April, 16 at 1:00pm.

Kay was a retired Medical Transcriptionist. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dillsburg and a lifetime member of the ladies auxiliary at the South Mountain V.F.W., Post #6771, Dillsburg. She enjoyed gardening and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Fest, III; two daughters, Tina M. Sauter of Carlisle, Debbie A. Brownawell (Greg) of Carlisle; one son, Terry E. Hughes (Susan) of Carlisle; two sisters, Connie Wagner of Thompsontown, Judy Hilbish (Judy) of Summerdale; two brothers, Larry Benner ( Sue) of Louisville, KY, Curt Benner (Joanne) of Pasadena, MD; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday, April 7, 2022, 11:00 am in the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 South Baltimore St., Dillsburg, PA. A visitation will be held Thursday from 10-11 am at the church. Burial will be held in the Dillsburg Cemetery-Mountain Road.

He is survived by his wife, Janet (Stallman) Bryer; and a brother, Paul J. Bryer, Jr. of South Carolina.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2022, 11:00 am in the Plaza at Christian Life Assembly, 2645 Lisburn Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011. A visitation will be held from 10-11 am prior to the service. Private burial will be held in the Tri-County Memorial Gardens, Lewisberry.

Wetzel of Lemoyne; two sisters, Geraldine Rynard of Carlisle, Joyce Klutz of Mechanicsburg; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was also preceded in death by two sisters, Vivian Boyer and Josephine DeHaas; and two brothers, Gary and Sonny Burd.

He was born July 31, 1946 in Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, the only child of the late Martin S. and Wilma M. Valla Popola.
Marty graduated from Joliet Township High School, class of 1964 and Joliet Junior College, class of 1967.  He also attended Western Kentucky University. In January of 1973, Martin stared working for the PA Department of Transportation as a Cartographic Draftsman and retired from PennDOT as a Cartographic Manager after 33 years of service.
He enjoyed traveling and had been on several cruises, visiting 22 countries and 50 states.  He coached and was an Officer for the Dillsburg Little League Baseball for 6 years.  He also enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, Golf, Bowling, Sports Car Clubs, Motorcycles, Geocaching and Munzee gaming.
Marty is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara R. (Hammel) Popola.  His daughter, Pollyanna Bergseng and her husband, Riley, of Midway, Utah.  His son, Michael Popola, of Camp Hill, PA.  His grandchildren, Jack James and Silas Martin Bergseng.

Eugene L. Baker - November 12, 1928 - March 21, 2022

He is survived by a brother, a daughter from his first marriage to Mary Harbold Baker, two step-daughters from his second marriage to Orvilla Blair Baker, several nephews and their families.
Born on November 12, 1928, to Irene M. Forscht Baker and John R. Baker, Gene grew up in Dillsburg.  He was proud to be a U. S. Marine Sergeant serving during the Korean War.  Gene spent his career as a home builder in Pennsylvania and in Florida and returned to Dillsburg in 2020.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no memorial service.
Memorial contributions to any Veterans Association have been suggested by his family.

He was born August 25, 1952, in Gettysburg the son of the late Raymond F. and Gertrude E. (Mantle) Leer.
Gary was a lifelong farmer and a graduate of Bermudian Springs High School, class of 1970.  He was a member of the Chestnut Grove Lutheran Church in York Springs and served as the treasurer and caretaker of the Chestnut Grove Cemetery. Gary was also a lifelong member of the York Springs Fire Company.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Linda L. (Lobaugh) Leer; a son, Alfred G. Leer (Kirsten) of York Springs; two grandchildren, Colten and Casen Leer at home; two brothers, James A. Leer (Anne) of Dillsburg, Leonard E. Leer (Barbara) of Mechanicsburg; one sister, Linda L. Shipman (Steve) of Dillsburg.
Services will be held Friday, March 25, 2022, 11:00 am at the Chestnut Grove Lutheran Church, 1136 Mountain Road, York Springs, PA 17372. A visitation will be held Friday from 9-11 am at the church. Burial will be held in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery.

James M. Gutshall - September 27, 1932 - March 18, 2022

Obituary Preview: James "Jim" Monroe Gutshall, 89, passed away March 18, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family after a ten year battle with cancer.
He was born September 27, 1932, in Lancaster, PA to the late Ola Merle and Ada (Snyder) Gutshall. They moved to Blain where he worked on his parents farm and graduated from Blain Union High School in 1951. He met the love of his life, Nancy, in Harrisburg at a dance being held by nurses. They married September 28, 1957, selling his steer to pay for the honeymoon.
Jim worked for the PA Aeronautics Commission as an equipment operator and mechanic until 1967. He then drove tractor trailers for Central Penn Air Freight, worked for Trans World Airlines as lead ramp supervisor, and started a landscape business. When TWA went out of business, he worked full time landscaping with his son. He enjoyed family get togethers, bus trips, travel to Europe, date night every Friday evening, coffee break and his "kidney medicine" (a glass of wine every afternoon). He was the man, the myth, the legend.
Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-nine years Nancy (McCurdy) Gutshall,  grandson Zachary Gutshall, son-in-laws Ed Poet and Michael Nyhart, sister Grace College, and brother Merle Gutshall. He is survived by three children, Steven Gutshall (Pam), Sherry Caswell, and Vicki Nyhart. Jim has six grandchildren, Rachael (Josh), Nikita, Jose, Shannon, Jamie and Chad and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Braden, Apollo, Luke, Derrick and Bella. He also has a brother, Ray Gutshall and a sister, Jane Orie.
Services will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2022, 11:30 am at the Christian Life Assembly, 2645 Lisburn Road, Camp Hill, PA. A viewing will be from 10:00 am-11:30 am at the church. Entombment will be at the Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Central PA for the excellent care they provided in their time of need and ask for donations in lieu of flowers be made to them at 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Frank was the widower of Claudia E. (Lawrence) Parise.
He was a retired mechanic and served his country in the United States Airforce.  Frank enjoyed animals and especially his dogs Maverick and Hades . He also enjoyed working on cars, eating sweets, watching movies, and spending time in the outdoors but most of all he enjoyed being with his family.
Frank is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Parise of Dover; one son, Kevin Parise (Caitlin); and his grandchildren, Peyton and Nolan.
Services will be held Friday, March 18, 2022, 11:30 am at the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg. A viewing will be held Friday from 10:30-11:30 am in the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will be held at the Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

She was the former co-owner, along with her husband,  of B. Wagner Meats and tended market at the Broad Street Market in Harrisburg. Margaret was a member of the Dillsburg Community Church.
She is survived by one son, Donald B. Wagner of York Springs; two daughters, Barbara A. Wagner of Dillsburg and Brenda E. Barrick (Elmer, Jr.) of Dillsburg; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022, 10:00 am at the Dillsburg Cemetery-Mountain Road.

Obituary Preview: Dennis A. Sprow, 71, of Mechanicsburg, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at the Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center, Camp Hill.
He was born December 25, 1950, in Toledo, OH, the son of the late Donald and Mildred (Baker) Sprow.
Denny was retired from Eastern Lift, Inc. in York where he worked as the Parts Manager and then as a After Parts Specialist.  He graduated from Chambersburg High School, Class of 1968 and later attended Bible College and became an Ordained Pastor by Larry Titus at Christ Community Church in Camp Hill.
He attended Christian Life Assembly in Camp Hill and formerly Christ Community Church. Denny spent fifteen years doing nursing home ministry called Smile Awhile Ministries and in 1993, Denny and his wife, received the Volunteer of the Year award from The Volunteer Center and the Junior League of Harrisburg.  He also did prison ministry and lead Bible studies in his home.
Denny is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Joanne M. (Mentzer) Sprow; one daughter, Heidi J. Knaub (Donnie) of Mechanicsburg; one brother, Keith Sprow  (Connie) of Ft. Loudon; several nieces and nephews and one great-niece.
Services will be held Thursday, March 17, 2022, at 12:00 pm in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg. A viewing will be held Thursday from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Dillsburg Cemetery-Golf Course Road.

Obituary Preview: Pauline "Polly" M. Stine, 84, of Dillsburg went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, while a resident at Chapel Pointe, Carlisle.
She was born February 11, 1938, in Bellefonte, PA, the daughter of the late Charles W. and Florence M. (Henninger) Stem and grew up in the State College area.
Polly was the widow of Herman L. Stine.  They shared 55 love-filled years together before his homegoing in 2013.
Although “Polly” was a nickname, she loved being called “Mom” or “Gram”.  Family was her focus and she modeled deep love and care for her entire family as well as many others. As an active member of Immanuel Church in Mechanicsburg, she was a former long-term Deaconess, choir member, and served in many other capacities in honor to her Lord. She always put others above herself and had a beautiful gift of hospitality.  It was nearly impossible to be around her and not be offered a helping hand or something to eat!
Polly is survived by four sons, Gary L. Stine (Sue) of Dillsburg, Keith P. Stine (Deb) of Dillsburg, Duane A. Stine (Sue) of Dillsburg, Randy J. Stine (Tammy) of York Springs; one daughter, Brenda K. Staub (Ira) of Dillsburg; one brother, Charles W. Stem, Jr. of State College; ten grandchildren, Jeremy (Erin), Heather (Joe), Jamie, Jodi (Adam), Ryan, Amanda, Matthew (Stephanie), Jason (Grace), Jenna (Devin), Jessica; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Derric.
A public viewing will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2022, from 10-11am at Immanuel Church, 800 South Market St., Mechanicsburg, PA. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11am. Burial will be held in the Wolgamuth Church Cemetery, Dillsburg.

Wolf; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Dorothy was also preceded in death by one son, Dennis J. Speck and one daughter, Bonita R. Speck.

Gerald is survived by his wife Carol J. (Reiff) Yost; one son, Chris L. Yost (Dianne) of Dillsburg; one daughter, Jennifer A. Seroskie (Justin) of Enola; four siblings, Gregory R. Yost of East Berlin, Roger J. Yost of Gulfport, MS, Connie L. Otstot of Dillsburg, Ellen M. Orr of Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren, Ashley Galan (Joe), Derian Caldwell, Trent Seroskie, Amanda Fooks (Adam), and Heather Reese (Fiance Jake).
