The daughter of Charles A. and Esther E. (Ervin) Van Tomme, Jeanie, was born on July 8, 1931 in Ira, Iowa. She attended Plumber Grove Country School and attended Colfax High School. On July 23, 1949, she was united in marriage to Leo G. “Mike” Beard in Des Moines, Iowa. Jeanie was a lifelong resident of the area. She worked on the farm; milking cows, raising chickens, helping with the cattle and hogs. After retiring from the farm, Jeanie cooked for several years at the Colfax Senior Citizen Center. She loved going to potlucks, her favorite dish to bring was angel food cake. Jeanie was also a 50 plus years member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Those left to honor her memory include her children Marilyn Bowman and her ex husband, Tom; Randy Beard and his ex wife, Jackie; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Born on January 31, 1967, to Jerry Koder Sr. and Dorothy Elaine Koder, Mark grew up embracing the beauty of nature which played a pivotal role in shaping his character and achievements. A graduate of Prairie City High School, he distinguished himself as an award-winning athlete and a star football player for the Prairie City Plainsmen. Mark’s profound connection to the natural world fueled his athletic discipline and success, drawing inspiration from his explorations and the landscapes he cherished.

Mark’s knack for fixing things was well known; his ability to repair the irreparable with minimal resources was nothing short of astonishing. His career as a millwright at Kane’s Construction and Cargill was cut short by a severe car accident on July 7, 1997, which resulted in life-altering injuries, including a frontal lobe brain injury. Despite these challenges, Mark's indomitable spirit saw him relearn basic skills, transforming his life’s work into helping others discover their relationship with nature and their own spirit.

Passionate about the outdoors, Mark enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and quiet walks through the woods—experiences he cherished sharing with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. These excursions became sacred teachings, imbuing in them a deep respect for the natural world and its impact on their personal growth.

Mark had a unique ability to make everyone around him feel safe and loved; his presence transformed every encounter into a profound experience. His affinity with children and animals was remarkable, often leaving onlookers amazed at the natural connection he seemed to forge effortlessly.

Mark is survived by his two sons, Mathew Alan Koder (Carly Heuckendorf), of Dallas, Texas, and Dustin Alan Koder ( Beth Forck ), and their three children Caleb, Karson, and Kolt of Newton, Iowa.His mother, Dorothy Koder (Arnold Cassady); his sister Cathy Hiemstra (Bud) and family; brother Jeff Koder (Julie) and family, and Jill Koder and family; and his sister Stephanie Roam and family. Mark also leaves behind numerous uncles, aunts, nieces , and nephews.

Mark is preceded in Death by his father Jerry Koder Sr, brother Jerry Koder Jr, grandparents John and Dorothy Hudson. Grandparents Elvin and Catheryne Koder, and nephew Gage Koder.

Mark's life, though marked by trials, was a testament to the strength of the human spirit. The profound impact of a loving heart and living in harmony with the world around us.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM CDT on April 21, 2024, at the Colfax Historical Society.

Chris graduated from Colfax High School in 1983. He was joined in marriage to Deanna Good, on Memorial Weekend in 1989 in Colfax.

Chris loved furbabies, especially his two cats Mary and Pretty Girl. He looked forward to mushroom hunting in the spring, and fishing in the summer. He absolutely loved Birds of all kinds, especially Chickens and Ducks. Back in the day, Chris enjoyed clay shooting. Chris was immaculate when it came to yard work and keeping vehicles clean. If you needed a vehicle detail, he was your 1st call. Chris would give his shirt off his own back for anyone in need. He had a great heart and loved many while just wanting to be loved back.

Chris is survived by his wife, Deanna Smith, of Urbandale, and his children, Chris (Tranquillity) Smith of Colfax, and Laci (Joey) Hutson of Urbandale. He is also survived by his four grandchildren; Emily and Jayden Steward, and Braelynn and Anna Hutson. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Glenna (Jim) Penny of Newton, his nephew Justin (Kristal) Jenkins of Carlisle, and numerous cousins.

Chris was preceded in death by his father and mother; Norman and Margaret (Hunter) Smith, his paternal grandparents; James "Glen" and Arminda "Minnie" (Teed) Smith, and his Maternal grandparents; Isaiah and Ada (Miller) Myra. And furbabies, Ol Boy, Minnie and Oddie to name a few.

Obituary Preview: William J. Gannon died March 27, 2024. Known by his aliases Bill, “Mingo,” Dad, and Grampa, he was a lifelong resident of Mingo, Iowa. Bill was from the beginning a black dirt farmer growing up on what is now the Gannon Century Farm with his parents Casey and Teresa Gannon, and sisters Mary Alice, Teresa Ann, Frances, and Joan. In 1964, the 27-year-old kid from Mingo was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives. He served three terms and was the Democratic Minority Leader during his final two terms. He was especially proud of the investments they made in public schools and ending the death penalty in the state of Iowa. He rode across the state on horseback, which made for great campaign pictures and complicated logistics. Bill traded suit and tie for yellow shirts and green pants, owning and operating the Farmer’s Supply Store, the local John Deere dealership for 24 years, before retiring to what his wife Kathleen called the world’s most expensive habit – full-time farming. Bill’s public service continued throughout his life, serving his community on the Colfax-Mingo School Board for 21 years, proudly handing a diploma to each of his three children.

Speaking of three children, Bill married Kathleen Kennedy of New Hampton on January 3, 1970. Fifty-four years later they have shared more than their fair share of laughs in Mingo, Kona, honky-tonks, and fancy hotel bars. Many of those laughs due to the antics or wit of their children Matt, Tim, and Clare. The family was complete when it was joined with Alissa, Emma, and Isabel; Liz, Lucy, and Grace, and Jano and Finnegan.

Monday, April 1 a wake and visitation will be held from 5 pm – 7 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax. The funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, April 2 at Immaculate Conception. Memorial contributions may be made to Colfax-Mingo Scholarships or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. If you really want to honor him, vote for the Democrats this and every fall.

Mary went to a country school through 8th grade and then to Colfax High School. Mary graduated with the class of 1947. The day after graduation, Mary started working for the Maytag Company in Newton, Iowa.

Mary met the love of her life, Harold William Holdefer in Colfax. They were united in marriage on April 9, 1948. To this union one son was born, Harold Wayne Holdefer, on February 4, 1951.

Shortly after their marriage , Mary and Harold purchased a farm in Wayne County near Confidence, Iowa. They moved there to start a farming business with Harold’s parents. Mary helped with the farming business, she was a devoted Mother and Homemaker.

After they sold the farm they moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1960. Mary started to work for the Des Moines Register and Tribune newspaper until she retired in 1984.

After their retirement, Mary and Harold moved to Chariton, Iowa to enjoy their time together. After the passing of her husband, Harold, Mary moved to Prairie Hills Assisted living to be closer to her family. Mary eventually transitioned to living at Calvin Community Health Center, where she was “grandma” to many of the staff.

Mary will be greatly missed by her Grandsons; Mark (Diana) Holdefer, Matt (Kathi) Holdefer, and Jeff (Jason) Holdefer. 8 Great-Grandchildren and 8 Great-Great- grandchildren; Sisters, Margaret (Bill) Anderson and Helen Thompson. She will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Obituary Preview: Lucille Ann (LuAnn) Millburn, age 91, of Norwalk passed away peacefully at Holland Farms Assisted Living and Memory Care in Norwalk. Visitation for LuAnn will be held Saturday January 27, 2024, at 1 pm at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax, Iowa. A joint Mass said in honor of LuAnn and her husband Francis, who passed away October 24, 2023, will follow at 2 pm after which there will be time for fellowship and light refreshments in the church basement. Internment will take place at a later date.

The daughter of Ernest Boles and Thelma (Furry) Boles, Lucille was born on August 27, 1932. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Carl and three sisters, Carol, Elnore, June and her son, Francis Jay Millburn and her husband, Francis Leeson Millburn. LuAnn grew up in Randolph, Kansas. After graduating from Randolph High School in 1950, LuAnn entered the United States Air Force, where she served in Washington, DC before returning to her small town where she met the love of her life on a blind date. Francis Millburn was a handsome Army soldier with a heart stealing smile stationed at nearby Fort Riley. They married in 1954 and started an amazing life together in Colfax which included the birth of five children: Kathy (Thomas) Kaldenberg, Francis Jay Millburn, Karen (Randy) Douglas, Patty (Craig) Shissler, and Matthew Millburn. Their family expanded with grandchildren: Matt and Mike Douglas; Dan, Dave and James Shissler; Austin Kazos, Sam Millburn and Mattea Millburn; Sarah Beth Helton and great grandchildren Gavin Peterson, Isaac Oltjenbruns and Daxton Douglas; Bruce, Kathleen and Marilyn Shissler; Scarlett, Lucille and Conrad Shissler. She recognized each of them as unique and loved them all.

LuAnn was active in many community and church organizations including the Colfax Jaycee Ettes, the PTA, the Colfax Centennial and Bi-Centennial Committees, GFWC LaFemme, the Colfax Chamber of Commerce, the American Red Cross, the Colfax Historical Society, the Jasper County Mental Health Board and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Altar & Rosary.

LuAnn managed the downtown business Millburn Decorating for ten years. It was an outgrowth of her interest in interior design, which she studied in books and the multitude of magazines she subscribed to. The culinary arts and entertaining were her companion passions and she loved planning menus and delighting family and friends with her beautifully set tables and delicious foods.

LuAnn loved to travel, and Francis took her to the places she had dreamed of visiting, including Paris and Ireland. She and her daughters made memories together on trips to Las Vegas, cruises and of course, shopping expeditions which had to include Younkers and lunch. Many summer months were spent at Shell Lake in Minnesota, where she redecorated the rented cabin and accompanied Francis on the boat, fishing for northern pike.

Reading was a source of great satisfaction for LuAnn and rarely was she without a book, newspaper or magazine. Her favorite genre was biographies of strong women from history, and she wasn’t intimidated by thick tomes.

In 2021, LuAnn and Francis moved to Holland Farms in Norwalk, Iowa where they quickly became “the couple that loves each other so much”. Up until her death, LuAnn was unwaveringly polite, with some of her last words being “thank you”. She will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Obituary Preview: Brian Keith Findley age 53, passed away Sunday evening Jan. 14th, 2024 after a hard and long battle with congestive heart failure and struggles with diabetes. Brian was born Feb, 4th, 1970 in Iowa City, Ia He was the oldest of two children to Grant and Patty (Warner) Findley Brian grew up and lived in Colfax his whole life and he was a Colfax-Mingo graduate, Class of 1989. He worked at several restaurants as a cook, including Culvers in Newton. Brian loved camping, fishing, hunting, spending time at parties with friends, always doing something crazy, and getting the name FINDOG. He also loved morel mushrooms and hunting them every year. Brian was a compassionate man and he loved spending time with family.

Those left to honor his memory include his mother Patty Findley, sister Amy Drake, and nieces and nephews, Darian, Payton, and Leah Drake. Preceding Brian in death were his father Grant Findley, grandparents Charles and Beulah Findley, grandparents Harold and Marcella Warner, Aunt Susie DuRocher and Uncle Kelly Warner.

Celebration of life services will be held Sat, Jan. 20th, 2024 at 10:30 at the First Baptist Church in Colfax.  Memorials may be directed to Brian's family and can be sent to the church.

Pratt at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax.  Helen worked at the bank in Colfax for several years and then after the birth of her son, Tim, she stayed at home to be with him.  As Tim grew up, Helen went to work at the Monroe Table Company until her retirement.   Helen had a soft heart for anyone in need and loved to laugh and dance.  She enjoyed dancing and listening to the music that her brother Sam Bankes, David Pratt and a few other musicians played in. With Helen being kind hearted, Tim recalls a time when a customer at a Newton grocery store had fallen and hit their head inside the store and Helen generously gave her coat to the customer to prop the individuals head up until paramedics could arrive.  She enjoyed spending time around the holidays decorating the inside and outside of their house, especially around Christmas. Helen could always be seen attending many of her son’s school band activities. She enjoyed riding with her husband on their motorcycle, camping, boating and anything that was outdoors.  She especially enjoyed taking care of Zoe, Tim’s dog. Helen could be found outside walking Zoe with David or Zoe sitting on a pillow in her lap while

heading into town with David. Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 69 years, David; a son, Tim; a sister, Pat (Larry) Cushatt; a brother, Mark (Fran) Bankes and several nieces and nephews.  Preceding Helen in death were her parents,

The son of Gary E. and Virginia (Owens) Wood, Gary was born on August 30, 1962, in Long Beach, California. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1980. Gary loved his family and was so proud of his grandchildren Shelby and Cooper. He was a very giving person and would drop what he was doing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was passionate about wildlife, cars and photography. He enjoyed just getting out and going for a cruise. He spent many hours taking photos of his nieces and nephews at their extracurricular activities, his camera was always ready at every family function. Gary was a Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan. He loved traveling with his son to different stadiums to see the Pirates play. The daughter of Carl and Alma (Kingma) Terpstra, Ila Mae was born on July 9, 1934 at home near Searsboro, Iowa. On September 5, 1953, she was united in marriage to Joe Gene Sprouse in Udel, Iowa. Ila was a farm girl, who graduated from Lynnville High School in 1951 as her class president. She attended the Des Moines Business School and over the years took various classes at Des Moines Area Community College. She was employed at Maytag from 1952 through 1954. She was a stay at home mother until 1967, when she was employed at the First National Bank in Colfax as a teller. She remained there rising up to the position of Head Cashier leaving in 1989. She then was employed at the First Newton National Bank as a teller until her retirement in January 1994. In her retirement, Ila and Joe took numerous vacations traveling the entire continental United States, even driving to Alaska for a long trip to see the state. The pursuits she enjoyed both prior to retirement and after were camping, fishing, and mushroom hunting. In her youth she was accomplished at the playing the piano. When retired she decided to take up quilting as her hobby, and won numerous awards for some of her quilts that she entered in various contests. She produced a baby quilt that won Best of Show at the Iowa State Fair and had a quilt hang in the International Quilt show in Paducah, Ky in 2015. The same quilt that hung in Paducah was showcased in the American Quilt Society calendar for 2015. She met a lady from Australia who was a quilter and developed a friendship with her (Jude Bond). They formed a collaboration between 3 US quilters and 3 Australian quilters and sent quilt blocks to each other and each of the 6 quilters designed and made a quilt from the blocks they received. The quilt Ila Mae designed and made was entered in the Iowa State Fair, won a blue ribbon and was awarded a special prize for the best use of color in 2005. The daughter of Ted and Leanna (Donaldson) Cross, Donna was born on August 30, 1935, in Colfax. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1953. On July 11, 1953, she was united in marriage to Joseph Hadsall in Colfax. Donna and Joe moved from Colfax to Abilene, Kansas for two years, then Grinnell for a year before settling in Marshalltown in 1964. Donna worked in the offices at the Monroe Table Company for several years. She also worked at Hansen Photo Studio in Grinnell and the Sandy Studio in Colfax as a photo color artist. Once in Marshalltown, she worked in the school food services.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Joe; two daughters, Debra (Steve) Lindeman, Diana (Larry) Couch, 14 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Alice (John Sr.) Borts; a sister-in-law, Linda Cross; and two sons-in-law, Dave Tychsen and Wes Etter. Obituary Preview: Bobbie (Cheryl) Lowry Killion went home to be with her Lord, Friday, November 3, 2023 at the age of 89. The daughter of Jake and Leta Lowry, she was born on April 11, 1934. She grew up on the family farm near Ira, Iowa. Bobbie graduated from Mingo Community School in 1952. She went to Simpson College for teaching and taught sixth grade in North Kansas City for many years. Bobbie and Howard Killion met and were married in 1959 at the Ira Christian Church, which always had a special place in her heart. Howard and Bobbie owned a cabin and boat on Pomme de Terre Lake in southern Missouri. Many of their nieces and nephews spent time there boating, fishing, and water skiing, helping to make them our favorite aunt and uncle. When they were not playing cards, Bobbie and Howard loved traveling the country with family and friends. Bobbie and her brother Jim went to Turkey and the Holy Land later in life, and it was a spiritual blessing and one of the highlights of her life. Bobbie accepted the Lord at a young age, carrying the love for Jesus throughout her life. She was very active in her church and loved doing missionary work. She spent a year in India teaching children while learning their culture. Bobbie went on many mission trips to Texas, local prisons, and Mexico, feeding and spreading the word of the Lord to school children and people of all ages. Her love for Christ touched many people across the world.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, parents Jake and Leta, four sisters, Vyrlee Armstrong, Avis Ruggless, Kitty Thomas, Jo Ann Spillner, and one brother Jim Lowry. She loved her many nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, and friends.

There will be a visitation prior to service from 10 until 11 a.m. at Coburn Funeral home.  Visitation will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to High Prairie Methodist Church and Colfax United Methodist Church.

Dorothy was born on October 11, 1950, in Reasnor, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Anna Stanton Aikin. She grew up in rural Reasnor and lived in Arkansas for several years before returning to Iowa, where she graduated from Monroe High School in 1968. She received her associate degree from DMACC in 1978. Then worked very hard to receive her BSN from Grandview college in August of 2000. She married Lysle ‘Skip’ Hitchcock on May 28, 1983, in The Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa.  Dorothy worked as a nurse and was very proud to be a nurse, especially working on the oncology wing at Des Moines General Hospital and working as a school nurse in the Des Moines School District for eight years.  Dorothy taught Sunday school and enjoyed participating in church activities. She also enjoyed watching her kids and her grandchildren playing sports and other activities, reading, sewing, and making clothes for her children. During the summer she would spend several hours canning produce from the garden. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Skip; children, Michelle Lewis and significant other, Rodney, Duane Cooper and significant other, Kari, Mark Hitchcock, and Amy Hansen and husband, Clint; grandchildren, Brianna Cooper, Jade Warner and her husband, Chris, and their daughter, Alayah , Alex Lewis, Deklan Lewis, and Eleanor Hitchcock; siblings, Rita Maston, Linda Hammock, Mary McJunkins, Charles Aikin and wife, Maria, Raymond Aikin and wife, Denise, and Kendall Aikin; sisters-in-law, Edith Aikin, Vickie Smith and husband, Ron, and Brenda Hitchcock; and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Aikin; sister, Margaret Vasseau; brother-in-law, John P. The son of Frank Leeson Millburn and Margaret (Walsh) Millburn, Francis was born on January 10, 1934. He grew up with his sister, Margaret Ann Clark in Colfax and graduated from Colfax High School as class president in 1952. Francis was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953, where he was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. It was on a blind date that year that his life changed when he met and fell in love with a raven haired beauty, Lucille Ann Boles, who had just returned from doing service in the Air Force. They married the next year and started an amazing life together which included the birth of five children: Kathy (Thomas) Kaldenberg, Francis Jay Millburn, Karen (Randy) Douglas, Patty (Craig) Shissler, and Matthew Millburn. Their family expanded with grandchildren: Matt and Mike Douglas; Dan, Dave and James Shissler; Austin Kazos, Sam Millburn and Mattea Millburn; Sarah Beth Helton and great grandchildren Gavin Peterson, Isaac Oltjenbruns and Daxton, Douglas; Bruce, Kathleen and Marilyn Shissler; Scarlett, Lucille and Conrad Shissler. Francis loved his family dearly and enjoyed countless celebrations, visits, and fishing trips.

Francis strongly believed in service to his country and community. He belonged to Jaycees, American Legion, AmVets, Knights of Columbus, Jasper County Korean Veterans, Colfax School Board, Indian Y Guides, Colfax Little League, Colfax Fire Department, and the Colfax Library Board.

Francis retired in 1996 from MidAmerican and he and LuAnn began to travel. His favorite destination was Paris, because visiting there was the life long dream of his beloved wife. The extra time also allowed Francis to pursue his passion for manicuring his lawn and especially his hedges, which caught the eye of anyone traveling on Walnut Street. Throughout his married life, he supported LuAnn in her interest in home interiors and entertaining. Together they ran Millburn Decorating for ten years and the various parties held at the Millburn home are legendary among family and friends.

Francis loved to fish, but only in northern Minnesota, mostly on Shell Lake, where the northern pike were thick. The quiet and the beautiful sunsets were irresitible and frequent trips were made over 50 years of his life.

A voracious reader, Francis always had a stack of books by his chair and he kept a detailed list of all the authors and series that he favored. He also was an early adopter of technology and delighted his family with weekly emails labeled “Another Saturday”.

In 2021, Francis and LuAnn moved to Holland Farms Assisted Living in Norwalk, where Francis was elected “sheriff” and became beloved by staff and residents alike.

Francis was preceded in death by his son, Francis Jay, parents, sister and brother-in-law, Duane Clark.

The daughter of Warren Ayres and Opal (Storm) Cadman, Betty was born on December 21, 1934 in Valeria, Iowa. She graduated from Mingo High School in 1953. On January 16, 1954, she was united in marriage to Tom Owens. Betty worked at several restaurants in the area, including Pat and Mel’s. She also worked at Maytag in Newton and Van Dusseldorps. Betty was a people person. She was the first unofficial neighborhood watch commander in Colfax. She always knew what was happening in the neighborhood. When she wasn’t keeping tabs on the neighborhood, she enjoyed watching Jerry Springer and her tabloids. She enjoyed going on cemetery runs and drives in general with her twin sister, Barb Borts. Most of all, however, she loved the time that she spent with her grandchildren and their families. Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Vicki (Terry) Rector and Cindy (Mike) Cooper; a son Thomas “T.J.” (Barb) Owens, Jr; six grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren. The daughter of Donald “Mike” Jones and Gertrude (Border) Jones, Ann was born on April 13, 1939. She grew up with two sisters, Donna and Patty and two brothers, Gary and Craig. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1957. During her high school years, she worked for Weirick’s Drug Store. After high school, Ann began working as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell for two years. On April 10, 1959, Ann was united in marriage to the love of her life, Larry Shuey. To this union, Ann and Larry had three children, Brad, Shellie and Staci. When the kids were old enough to all be in school, Ann began working again at Weirick & Patterson Pharmacy until her retirement. She had been a member of the Colfax Christian Church where she was baptized.

Ann loved watching her two grandsons grow up and become kind and polite young men. She loved watching Eric play football and baseball and she was always amazed listening to Evan play the piano and trumpet and watching him in the marching band. In addition to watching her grandsons’ activities, she enjoyed an evening out going to the casino to play slots and was a devout Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Ann is survived by her son, Brad Shuey; her daughters, Michelle “Shellie” Shuey and Staci (Roger) Shortt; and her grandsons, Eric Shortt and Evan Shortt. Ann is also survived by her sister, Patty (Gary) Reed; brother, Craig (Brenda) Jones; sisters-in-law, Linda Jones and Deloris (Mickey) Norman and Charlotte Shuey and many nieces and nephews. Byron was born to Donald C Roam, Sr. (deceased) and Loretta (Brant) Roam on March 26, 1961. He was loved greatly by his brothers and sisters, Donald C. Roam, Jr (Jeanette), Tammy (Tom) Wickett, Patsy Roam, Bob Roam, Tina (Clint) Bodkins, Philip (Shannon) Roam. Byron was a father to a daughter, Nichole Malata, 2 beautiful granddaughters, a son, Nathaniel Roam. He also had a beautiful baby boy Seth that passed away as a baby and I know he was waiting in his great grandpas’ arms for his daddy to come home to him. He also had many nieces and nephews that he loved, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His favorite past time besides spending time with his family & friends, was his love of fishing. If we couldn’t find him at home, we would find him at the river or the quarry, just enjoying catching all the catfish he could find. Byron had a great since of humor, he loved to play tricks on his nieces and nephews, was always ready for a laugh.

Byron’s wishes were to be cremated, with no service arrangements at this time. Arrangements of a gathering will be held later, after the family has time to process this loss.

The family of Byron wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Accura Healthcare in Newton & Staff for taking great care of our brother while he was there. They were amazing. Also, to Coburn Funeral Home & staff for their support & compassion in his transition.
