Obituary Preview: Richard O. Frey, Sr., “Dick”, 74, of Panama, NY passed away peacefully at his home with his wife by his side on March 24, 2023. Dick was born on November 10, 1948 in Jamestown, NY to the late Leo V. Frey and the late Elma G. Frey.

Dick was a graduate of Sherman Central School. Following graduation, he worked for Blackstone until he purchased his farm in 1969. He became a lifelong dairy farmer who had a great appreciation for the land and being able to be his own boss. He enjoyed the simple things that life had to offer like ice cream on a hot summer day after spending hours in the hay fields or a simple afternoon nap between milking cows. He also enjoyed putting puzzles together with his family, watching western movies, listening to country music, especially Johnny Cash, and in his later years, driving around the country side.

Many that knew Dick can attest that he had a way with words, an endless supply of punchy jokes, a need for speed, and was fiercely devoted to God. In his younger years he spent many hours reading his Bible between chores and in his later years he often quoted his favorite scriptures to his children. His love for his land could only be mirrored by his love for his family and God.

Including his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his half-brother, David Deary, his half-sister, Patsy Roberts and his foster parents of 9 years: Howard and Helen Rater. Dick is survived by his wife of 41 years, Gale M. Frey; son, Richard O. Frey, Jr. of Jamestown, NY; daughter, Sarah M. (Will) Burton of Galena, MD; and step daughters Laurie Bailey of Jamestown, NY and Karen Rater of Westfield, NY. Dick was also survived by two sisters: Marcia (Bob) Brown and Rola (Frank) Miller; three brothers: Douglas (Joan) Frey, Vincent Frey, and Dale (Carolyn) Frey; four step-grandchildren, 2 step-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Burton W. Emory, 92, of Findley Lake, N.Y. went home to be with his Lord & Savior on Saturday May 29, 2021. He was the son of Walter and Lula (Matice Brumagin) Emory. Burton went to French Creek Rural School until sixth grade and then attended Clymer Central School. He retired from General Electric in Erie in 1988 after 24 years. Prior to G.E., Burton worked for his father at Emory Lumber Co. for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and metal detecting, especially with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, coin collecting, completing crafts and woodworking projects. He traveled throughout the United States sightseeing and visiting antique stores with his family. He belonged to Triangle Squares & Dancing Flames, Square Dancing Groups for 5 years. He was a member of Findley Lake United Methodist Church where he was baptized. Burton is survived by: his wife, of 57 years, Margaret Batson Foster Emory; his children: Steve (Debbie) Emory of Tolleson, AZ, Ronnie (Brenda) Emory of Masa, AZ, Randy (Evelyn) Emory of Lakeside, AZ, Clifford (Dianna) Foster of Clymer, N.Y. Obituary Preview: Harold “Hal” R. Johnson, 83, of Ashville, N.Y., entered his eternal home in Heaven on Sunday May 16, 2021 while at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Buffalo. Harold was a born again Christian who faithfully studied his Bible daily. He was born January 26, 1938 in Jamestown, N.Y. to Carl L. and Anna (Berggren) Johnson.

Harold was a 1956 graduate of Southwestern High School. Following high school he served in the United States Navy from 1958-1962. Harold established Topcraft Products in 1971, a countertop manufacturing business in Falconer.

As skilled craftsman, he enjoyed woodworking, carving and wood turning.

Harold was fond of being outdoors, as he enjoyed the woods, being on his tractor, making maple syrup, hunting and a nice sunny day. Above all, Harold loved his family and cherished spending time with family and friends. The family is comforted in knowing they will all be reunited in Heaven with him someday.

He was a life-long member of the Salvation Army and especially proud of his Swedish ancestry. Harold is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris (Fry) Johnson, whom he married January 26, 1963 at the Bethel Baptist Church in Jamestown, N.Y.; 4 children:

Main St., Clymer, N.Y.), on Saturday from 2-4 pm, where Military Honors will be accorded at 4 pm. A Celebration of Life picnic will be held at a later date this summer in honor of Hal.
