Jewell (Klein) Goldstein, 91, of Lyndhurst, passed away on Wednesday, September 7 in Cleveland, Ohio. Jewell was born May 10, 1931, the daughter of Leo and Sadie (Kirschner) Klein. She spent most of her life in the Cleveland area, graduating from Cleveland Heights High School in 1949 and later took some business classes. Jewell was employed by the City of Shaker Heights as the Clerk of Court for Criminal Cases for over 24 years.
After retiring she and her husband Shiah moved to Clearwater, Florida. They volunteered at the Clearwater Senior Center in the office and delivered Meals on Wheels. Jewell enjoyed playing mahjong, reading, and weekly card games with friends. Jewell also enjoyed baking and sculpting with clay. Most of all Jewell enjoyed the companionship of a family dog and had one most of her adult life.
Jewell leaves a large and loving family to honor her memory; Shelley (Ron) Kabert of South Euclid, OH, Lesley (Bruce) Berman of Atlanta, GA, and Lorrie Lawrence of Lyndhurst, OH; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Jewell was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Shiah Goldstein, her parents, and sisters Sylvia and Betty Klein. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Mount Olive Cemetery, 27855 Aurora Road, Solon, OH 44139. The family will receive guests at 2202 Acacia Park Drive, Lyndhurst Ohio in the Social Room immediately following the service until 3:30 p.m and Tuesday evening from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. Please feel free to wear your mask if it would make you feel more comfortable. Obituary Preview: Kenneth Michael Robins passed away on Wednesday April 6. He was 77. He died of complications after open heart surgery. Robins was a respected business lawyer, investor and art collector. He was married for 50 years to his beloved wife Judy Robins, who was his constant partner and the light of his life. Together they traveled the world, explored new horizons, experienced great cuisine and discovered - and collected - the contemporary artists of their time. They are noted philanthropists who have focused their generosity on Jewish Colorado and the Denver Art Museum, among other causes. Ken was born and raised in Williamsport, Pennsylvania to Dorothy and Jerome Robins. He studied business at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. He received his law degree from Harvard Law School. He practiced law in Denver for 25 years before retiring to focus on investing and business consulting. He was an avid skier. He leaves behind his wife Judy, his sister Geraldine and an extended family of loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews and a wide circle of devoted friends. The funeral will be at Temple Sinai on Thursday, April 7 at 1:30pm in the Zwerin Sanctuary. All are welcome to attend but those who are not vaccinated must wear a mask. He died on February 17, 2022 after a long and difficult battle with dementia. He leaves his beloved wife of 63 years, Lillian Schlachter, son Scott (Carrie Davis), daughters Cynthia of Reut, Israel and Karyn (Andrew) Hansen of Parker, CO. Adored grandchildren, Drew, Izzy, Amit (Elior) Iton, Omri and Edan Koren, Chloe, Madison and Cooper Hansen, and great grandson Adam Iton. Along with many cousins and wonderful friends. His brother William Schlachter predeceased him.Roy received his BA from the City College of New York, and MSSA from the School of Applied Social Sciences of CWRU. Roy was the consummate clinical social worker. Professionally and personally he has conveyed energy and personal interest in the lives and experiences of many people. He devoted his career to helping clients resume their lives and return to society and their families.He began his long career at the Cleveland Psychiatric Institute and Hospital, then Youth Services, next came Metro Health Department of Psychiatry where he developed and became the Director of the Evening Mental Health Clinic, and Director of Ambulatory Services and Community Liaison Officer. From there he moved to the Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry where he was the Clinical Director for the Community re-Entry Program. Roy has won numerous awards recognizing his creativity and community efforts. In addition to the above, Roy started his private practice in 1980 by beginning to see troubled adolescents in their homes. At the time, it was a novel but significant way to help both youth and their families.Roy was a schmoozer! So he was delighted when he was asked to appear on the "Morning Exchange" with Fred Griffith, to respond to callers seeking approaches to solving personal problems. He was a "hit", so it continued for many years.Roy loved the outdoors. He planted many gardens here, in Parker, CO and in Israel. He along with his family had many camping trips and experiences that took us all over the United States and Canada. Visiting Israel was always special and we did that over 30 times. He would try to say things in Hebrew that caused our grandchildren to have some good laughs. We traveled to many countries where we would rent cars and Roy would enjoy driving on the autobahns going very fast, while Lillian would close her eyes. Cross country skiing became a passion, along with the trips to Jackson Hole and Yellowstone. Roy shared his time and energy even during these difficult last years with his consistent and extraordinary interest in every aspect of Temple life. He participated in different groups, was Haman in many Purim Spiels and called everyone in our Temple directory during Covid to find out how they were. He was honored as Emanu Elite of the year in 2021.Roy's charisma, smile and sense of humor and caring ways will be missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the opportunity to know this special man.The Family wants to thank Arden Courts and it's staff for the compassionate caring and love that they have given to Roy for the last 3 months. He was master of the dad joke, never saw a gadget he didn't love, loved tools and had them all, and owned extra everything just for backup.

Obituary Preview: Marcia Joanne Paris Waxman, a vibrant redhead who loved baking challah, community service, dancing ballet and Motown music, died at 84 years old on Thursday December 30th.
She was the devoted wife of Melvin Waxman for 65 years who survives her. She was the loving center of her family throughout her life, starting with her four younger siblings, to her four adoring children and beyond, a sprawling troupe of 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She died of COVID-related complications after contracting the virus.
Daughter of William and Estelle Paris, Waxman was born March 28, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended Heights High School. A funeral will take place at the Waxman Chabad Center 2479 S Green Rd, Cleveland, OH 44122 on Friday December 31 at 1 pm. Interment will take place at Bet Olam Cemetery, 25796 Chagrin Blvd., Beachwood, OH 44122. Attendees are requested to comply with CDC guidelines for COVID protection, including wearing a mask during the service. Renee Preisler, affectionately known to her nieces and nephews as "Auntum", her grandchildren as "Grantum" and her children as Mom, passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
She shared an unwavering devotion to her family, Judaism and the Jewish community and dedicated her life to the service of others. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, where she lived before moving with her children to California in 1976.
She started her career in public service early when she became the Director of Special Events Promotion at the famed public television station KQED, raising over 1M her first year to support locally produced public television programs.
She put her talent and love for the Jewish Community to work when she became the Director of the Woman's Division of the Jewish Federation of San Francisco. There she implemented over 100 fundraising campaigns and led fundraising missions to Israel, Washington D.C, and New York.
In 1987, her allegiance to family brought her back to Cleveland to take over as President of Preisler Lumber, the family business founded by her grandfather Carl Preisler and her father, Ohio Golf Legend Edwin Preisler.
Committed to continuing her community work, she became the PR and Communications Director for the WECO Fund, a non-profit agency helping low-to-moderate income people and families decrease debt.
Renee, a gifted artist herself, was a lover of the arts and supported many Cleveland Museums including the Maltz, MOCA, and the Museum of American Porcelain. She spent many nights at the theatre singing along to all her favorite Broadway Shows. Her zest for life and learning were infectious and will be missed by anyone fortunate enough to have known her.
Renee is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Seema Preisler. She is survived by her brother, Michael A. Preisler, Sister Lynn Ganz, Renee's three children, Jamie (Sheila)Lease, Tammy Lease and Brian Lease as well as grandchildren Alexandra and Julia Lease, Taren (Tyler) Lewis and great grandchildren, Tristen and Rylee Lewis. Renee Preisler, affectionately known to her nieces and nephews as "Auntum", her grandchildren as "Grantum" and her children as Mom, passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
She shared an unwavering devotion to her family, Judaism and the Jewish community and dedicated her life to the service of others. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, where she lived before moving with her children to California in 1976.
She started her career in public service early when she became the Director of Special Events Promotion at the famed public television station KQED, raising over 1M her first year to support locally produced public television programs.
She put her talent and love for the Jewish Community to work when she became the Director of the Woman's Division of the Jewish Federation of San Francisco. There she implemented over 100 fundraising campaigns and led fundraising missions to Israel, Washington D.C, and New York.
In 1987, her allegiance to family brought her back to Cleveland to take over as President of Preisler Lumber, the family business founded by her grandfather Carl Preisler and her father, Ohio Golf Legend Edwin Preisler.
Committed to continuing her community work, she became the PR and Communications Director for the WECO Fund, a non-profit agency helping low-to-moderate income people and families decrease debt.
Renee, a gifted artist herself, was a lover of the arts and supported many Cleveland Museums including the Maltz, MOCA, and the Museum of American Porcelain. She spent many nights at the theatre singing along to all her favorite Broadway Shows. Her zest for life and learning were infectious and will be missed by anyone fortunate enough to have known her.
Renee is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Seema Preisler. She is survived by her brother, Michael A. Preisler, Sister Lynn Ganz, Renee's three children, Jamie (Sheila)Lease, Tammy Lease and Brian Lease as well as grandchildren Alexandra and Julia Lease, Taren (Tyler) Lewis and great grandchildren, Tristen and Rylee Lewis.
