He is survived by his wife, Gail Larson Baker, daughters Pari-Ann Baker McDuffie and Heather Baker Cline, and his son Garrett Houston Baker, Jr, sevengrandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Stanley J. Larson, Jr, and nieces and nephews. Before moving to Cleveland, GA and retiring at Freudenberg-NOK, Mr. Baker held managerial positions in Connecticut and S. Florida and owned his own businesses. He was a certified NRA instructor, military memorabilia collector and a volunteer firefighter in Coral Springs, FL, where he also held the office of Vice President of the Coral Springs Volunteer Firefighter Association. A Memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Chattahoochee Baptist Church, for family and friends, from 1 to 2 pm.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Karen Albright Cantrell; children De Anna Cantrell Kelleher (Todd) of Gray, Ga; siblings J.W. Cantrell (Susan) of Perry, Ga; Jo Anne Skellie (Steve) of Warner Robbins, Ga; grandchildren, Mitchell, Logan, Dean, and Ali Kate. Numerous other relatives also survive. Obituary Preview: In 1987, a single available seat at the Collegiate Grill led to a great love affair.  For 35 years, Wanda Bennett and Ray Ward shared a life together filled with love and laughter.

Wanda Carol Bennett was a caring, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Friend, and most importantly, a constant companion to Ray.  Wanda passed away peacefully at her home on February 24,2022.

Born to Eloise and Doyle Porter of Roswell, Georgia, Wanda resided in Gainesville.  She is preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her husband, Ray; son John (Jennifer); son Peter; grandchildren (Madelyn and John-Luke); sisters (Phyllis & Nanette) and many nieces and nephews.

First and foremost, Wanda was a dedicated mother and grandmother.  She treasured her sons and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She had a vivacious personality and quick wit.  A lover of music, Wanda knew every lyric to every song.  A voracious reader, she relished quiet time with books.  An exceptional cook, Wanda was famous for southern specialties including country-fried steak and cornbread.

Life’s simple pleasures (a good meal, a crossword puzzle, or a classic movie) brought her great joy.

Wanda lived a full life and she was well loved.  She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.

Susie was born on March 20, 1939 in New Moorefield, Ohio. She is survived by daughter Beth Eldridge (Randy), Gainesville, GA and son Ray Rosher (Charmain), Miami, FL; grandchildren Sarah Haynes (Rick), Rachel Searcy, Brittany Lovins (Paden), Dakota Rosher and Cheyenne Rosher; 5 great grandchildren; brother Johnny Pierce (Arlene) and sister Nancy Davis (Howard).    Susie was married from 1959-1987 to Richard Rosher. Their love for the outdoors was deeply instilled in their two children, Beth and Ray. Spending time at the camp in the Everglades and summers fishing at the beach was a family tradition that is still carried down to this day. In 2012, Susie met and married Stanley Bagnall. They were married for 8 years, until he passed away in May of 2020. Meeting Stan when she was 73 and he was 88 brought out the lighthearted teenager in both of them and they were truly in love.    Susie was a kind and caring soul who never met a stranger, just a friend she hadn’t met yet!  Her faith as one of Jehovah’s Witness took her to many International Conventions where she met a worldwide group of friends whom she treasured and considered to be family. Susie was so generous and hospitable to all she met. She loved to have her awesome “get-togethers”with a houseful of her friends where there would always be food, wine, music and laughter.

Travel and photography were two of her favorite pastimes. Her pictures and memories from all over the world brought her a lot of comfort and happiness in her later years.     Being a caregiver was one of her biggest passions. She left her job to care for her mother, Dortha Pierce, for over a decade, as well as her mother-in-law, Louise Rosher. This brought the family so much comfort knowing Susie was there for them. In turn, the family lovingly cared for Susie in her later years. She will be missed by many.

A memorial of her life will be held at a later date via Zoom.

Obituary Preview: On Thursday, February 3, 2022, we said goodbye to a dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, Barbara Ann Thomason, 87, of Clermont, Georgia.

Barbara was Nanny to her family. Her favorite color was pink. Her favorite poem Annabelle Lee. Her favorite season summer. Her favorite holiday Christmas. She loved to read, go to yard sales, decorate for Christmas, wear a striped shirt and spray on lots of Estee Lauder Youth Dew perfume.  She was incredibly smart and had an amazing vocabulary, but she was also gifted with numbers. She was feisty and she was stubborn. She made the world’s best pound cake. She treated everyone with kindness. She had the best imagination. She will be dearly missed.

She loved being “Miss Barbara” during her years working in the office at Brookton Elementary School and then at Wauka Mountain Elementary School.  She remembered every child that passed through, every tooth she pulled and every nosebleed she cleaned up. She made everyone in school feel like family and was maybe best known for her Christmas decorations. She spent every Thanksgiving break creating a magical scene to welcome the kids back to school in December.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Harold E. Thomason.  She is survived by her daughters Donna Thomason and Jo Thomason, granddaughter and grandson-in-law Kelly and Greg Sistrunk, beloved great-grandchildren Sophie and Sawyer Sistrunk, sisters Janet Williams and Cherie Sisson and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.   A celebration of Barbara Thomason’s life will be scheduled this spring, in the warm weather she loved, at the Thomason Family Cemetery. Date and time will be announced later. For those that loved “Miss Barbara” and would like to honor her memory, a fund has been set up at Wauka Mountain Multiple Intelligences Academy to help children get school supplies, medical care, shoes, etc. that they need. Donations may be made via check to “Barbara Thomason Benevolent Fund for Wauka Mountain” and dropped off or mailed to the school at 5850 Brookton-Lula Rd, Gainesville, GA 30506.
