Obituary Preview: Wanda Catroppa passed away suddenly on May 1, 2020.  After struggling for years with back pain and other issues, she is finally at Home with the Lord, with the Peace she so richly deserves.
Wanda was born on August 4, 1969, in Jersey City, NJ.  She went to school at St. Dominic’s Catholic Academy, where she met many friends who remained close to her throughout her life. Wanda spent 3 decades as a Floral Designer at many shops, and she designed the Floral decorations for one of the Soprano’s Funeral episodes.
Wanda accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior on October 1, 2008.  She married Emil Catroppa on July 27, 2013, and continued living a committed life to Jesus Christ, her husband, and her church family.  Wanda was loved by many, many friends and family members, and will be greatly missed.  Wanda especially had a heart for lost folks, who did not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  She was very bold in her witness to Christ, as she reached out to as many friends/family members with letters and notes of encouragement on a daily basis, in hope of their receiving Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Wanda lived with her husband and 3 dogs in Cleveland, GA, was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Claremont, GA, where she volunteered to look after grade school children during Sunday Services.  Wanda loved worshipping the Lord Jesus!
Wanda leaves behind her husband, Emil Catroppa, her Mother, Dolores Maleszewski, her mother-in-law, Sonia Catroppa, andher brother, Larry Maleszewski.

She retired from the Salvation Army. Jeanette is preceded in death by her children’s father and first husband James Willard Elsey, second husband Ernest Lewis, and son George Elsey. Jeanette’s father, Albert Tindale, was a designer on the “Spirit of St. Louis” aircraft project. Mrs. Lewis is survived by her: daughters and son-in-law: Ruth and Dennis Fuller, Cleveland, Georgia, Joan Elsey, Cleveland, Georgia: grandchildren: Jason and Kim Fuller, Chad and Tabitha Fuller, Michelle and Jon Mobley, James and Shelly Patterson, Chris and Michelle Elsey, Beth and Katie Elsey: a numerous list of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Obituary Preview: Michael Bryon Randall, 66, of 30 Timberwood Cove, died April 29, 2020 .
​Michael’s passing came after a four-year battle with metastatic colon cancer. He died at home surrounded by family and loved ones. Northeast Georgia Hospice provided in home care.
​Born in Stephen’s County, he was preceded in death by his parents; Sara Clarke Randall and Walter Baxter “Dub” Randall and step-mother Viola “VO” Howell Randall.
​Michael is survived by his loving wife Hilary Orr Randall and three sons; Hayden Baxter Randall of Brookhaven Georgia, Hudson Reese Randall of Austin Texas, and Hunter Byron Randall of Denver Colorado. One brother, Clarke Randall of Toccoa Georgia, and two sisters Priscilla Watkins of Rome Georgia, and Elizabeth Crump (Daniel) of Toccoa Georgia. Three step-sisters, Bobbie McCormack, Patsy Chastain (Buddy), and Jimmie Lowery (Marion) all of Lavonia Georgia, along with several nieces and nephews.
​Michael grew up in the northeast Georgia town of Lavonia, Ga. He graduated from Franklin County High School, Carnesville, Ga in 1971. Afterwards he attended the Georgia Institute of Technology where he earned his professional architect degree, a Bachelor of Architecture in 1976.
​After working with various architecture firms upon graduation, Michael and Alex S. Paulson founded Randall-Paulson Architects, Inc. in 1983. Since that time Randall-Paulson Architects, Inc. has become a nationally recognized firm providing architectural, interior design and visualization design services across the country.
​Professionally Michael was a member and active in various professional organizations dedicated to the design, construction and development industries. He also devoted time to civic organizations serving as a long time board member of the Spruill Center of the Arts, Dunwoody, Ga., and the Murphey Candler Little League, Brookhaven, Ga.
​What gave Michael his greatest joy was coaching and supporting his three sons in whatever activity of sports they chose to participate in. Highlights included traveling the southeast with his youngest son Hunter participating in sanction bowling tournaments. Hunter taught Michael the intricacies of the sport, eg: the type of material for balls to use and learning the oil patterns on the lanes, etc. Another big highlight was when his two older sons, Hayden and Hudson played together on the Dunwoody High School baseball team and won the State Championship in 2007. Michael enjoyed coaching and following his middle son Hudson at the University of Florida and later drafted by the Detroit Tigers. Hudson is now a general contractor for The Conlan Company. Hayden continued his sports interest by becoming involved with turf management, Sports Turf and Dirt, located in Dunwoody, Ga.

She is survived by her husband, Harley Owenby; daughters Amanda Loggins and AJ Loggins; and sisters Pam Henderson and Stacie Ledford.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Betty Jane Scott Lee of Helen, Georgia passed away April 22.  She lived a long life enjoying her family, friends and the North Georgia Mountains in her later years.  She was 101.
Mrs. Lee was born June 1918 in Macomb, IL to the late Asa P. and Ethel Harlan Scott. Betty spent many years raising a family in Miami, FL with her husband Bill Lee.  She was a homemaker and secretary during her lifetime.  Her greatest enjoyment came from reading, sewing and her painting.  She was one of the original fellows of the Diane Mize Art Studio, enjoying the learning and fellowship for many years. She continued to paint and draw into her 90’s.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William M. Lee (Bill) of Helen, sons William “Monty” Lee, Jr., David Scott Lee both of Miami, FL, and her brother Harlan Scott of Milton, FL.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Arnold Lasris, Helen, GA; grandson, Daniel Lasris(Teresa), New Port Richey, FL; nieces; Sue Bussart(Bob), Dahlonega, GA. Kathleen Shelby(Bud), Woodland Park, CO; Debra Roland(Thomas), Jay, FL. Three of her favorite people were Lynn Percy, Dianne Mize and the late Howard Hanson. Special thanks go to her longtime home caregivers Alice Eades, Rene Boutwell and Marilyn Gregorash.
Mrs. Lee will be cremated. Due to the COVID 19 shelter-in-place requirements no service will be held.

Richard Evans - Unknown - April 15, 2020

Obituary Preview: Richard Carter Evans, 94, of Cleveland, Georgia, passed away on April 15, 2020, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.  Mr. Evans was born on August 13, 1925, in Akron, Ohio to Dewitt and Nora Evans of Gainesville, Georgia.  He was a lifelong resident of Northeast Georgia.  Mr. Evans was a veteran of WWII.
He left Gainesville at the age of 17 to go to Naval Basic Training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Chicago, Illinois.  Following graduation from basic training, he went to northern Scotland to train with the British Navy.  This time in Scotland developed a life-long love of the Scottish Highlands.  He could trace his family's arrival to the north Georgia mountains from 1787 and was very proud of his Scots-Irish ancestry.
Mr. Evans was part of the D-Day invasion of Normandy.  He was stationed on a Naval Destroyer off the coast of France.  During his ships passage back to America, he and his shipmates made and engraved ashtrays out of spent artillery shells used during their support of the invasion.  Following a brief time back in the United States, he was transferred into the South Pacific theater.  He was stationed in the Solomon Islands, Guam, and the Philippines.  He was an eyewitness to history several times during this period; for example, he witnessed the Marines raising the flag over Iwo Jima, and while he was on leave in Japan, Emperor Hirohito signed the peace agreement ending the war.
Upon returning to the states after WWII, Mr. Evans went to work for the City of Gainesville as a police officer.  He was very proud of his badge, which was number 6.  After leaving the police force, he continued to serve the City of Gainesville working for Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Engineering.
Mr. Evans retired from the City of Gainesville in 1989.  He then moved back to the Cleveland area to enjoy his retirement.
Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents, Nora and DeWitt Evans; his sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Evans Caston and Don Caston.; and his wife, Viola Nix Evans, who passed away in January 2020.
He is survived by his children, Dennis Carter Evans of Marietta, Georgia; Richard (Rusty) and Stephanie Evans, of Roswell, Georgia; Elizabeth (Beth) and Thomas Horton, of Gainesville, Georgia; and grandchildren Robert Evans of Marietta; Tanner Evans of Gainesville; Adeline Evans Horton and Emilia Carter Horton of Gainesville, Georgia.
