Mrs. Marguerite Smith Stephens, 89 of Hogansville, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024 at her home.
Born December 8, 1934 in Hogansville, Mrs. Stephens was the daughter of the late Hulett Leonard “Buck” Smith and Faith Kidd Smith. She was a lifelong resident of Hogansville, where she worked for The Citizen’s Bank for over 30 years and later the Bank of Coweta for 10 years. Mrs. Stephens was the oldest living member of First Baptist Church of Hogansville.
Survivors include her daughter and son in-law, Sandy and Scott Odom; grandson, Nathan Odom, all of Hogansville; sister, Becky Strain of Islamorada, Fl; and sisters in-law and brothers in-law, Earlene Sorrells of Cedartown, Wanda and Michael Hall of Columbus, and Hollis and Norma Stephens of San Antonio, Texas. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by her husband, Huell Stephens.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with Pastor Greg Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Steven Ortmann of Hogansville; mother, Doris Higgins of Sharon, CT; sister and brother in-law, Kathy and Chris Thorsland of Pine Mountain; brothers and sister in-law, Kevin Higgins of Dover Plains, NY and Frank and Mable Higgins of Sarnia, Canada; nieces, Kayla Higgin, Erica Ortmann, and Vanessa Ortmann Sabbagh; and nephew, Hunter Higgins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Bruce Smith; maternal grandparents, Johnny Mack Lockard and Elizbeth Lockard; and his fiancée, Savannah Silver.

Lance was born February 24, 1990 in LaGrange and was a lifelong resident of the Hogansville area. He was a 2008 graduate of Callaway High school and attended Southern Union State Community College in Wadley, Alabama. Lance was a Journeyman Lineman for 15 years. He was a talented artist who loved hunting for arrowheads, playing baseball, and the outdoors. Lance had a big heart and an abundance of love for his children, family, and all people.
Survivors include his wife, Lacey Noles Keith of LaGrange; children, Oakland Keith, Lakeland Keith, Mailee Noles, Adalyn White, and Mason Noles; his parents, Jerry and Melanie Cummings Keith of Hogansville; brothers, Carson (Jillian) Keith of Hogansville, Kane (Elizabeth) Keith of Cumming, Perry (Lainey) Keith of Milledgeville; grandmothers, JoAnne Keith of Hogansville and Glenda Cummings of LaGrange; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Dan Keith and C. O. “Bud” Cummings, Jr.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 22, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. The Reverend Dwayne Perdue will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.

She retired as a bookkeeper from the Elm City Division of Milliken and Company in LaGrange, was Baptist by faith, and had attended Oak Lawn Baptist Church in Newnan. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafting, flower arranging, was a very talented musician, and had been a member of Merrymakers Bluegrass Band. She could play a number of instruments, including guitar and mandolin, but was especially known for her ability to play the banjo.
Survivors include her son, Jimmy and Karen Head of Hogansville; daughters, Vicki and Marty Yeager of Burr Oak, KS, Tracey and Jimmy Denham of Hogansville; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Jo Sparks of Moreland, Alice Arrington of Sharpsburg, and Linda Noojin of Sargent. She was preceded in death by her husbands, George Nichols and Roy Dickey; sons, John David Head and Michael Leon Head; and daughter, Teresa Lynn Luckie. She loved to travel, was a talented soloist, and hosted a gospel show on local television for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Willis Bailes of LaGrange; sons, Billy Ray Toney and his wife Teresa Toney of LaGrange, Ricky Joe Toney of LaFayette, AL; seventeen grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Yvonda Moulin and her husband Christopher Moulin of Pine Mountain; step-son, Raymond Bailes and his wife Shawna Bailes of LaGrange; four step-grandchildren; and a sister in-law, Linda Weldon of LaGrange. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Wiggins.

Born January 11, 1946 in Alabama, Mr. Drake was the son of the late William Hugh Drake and Aribelle Horton Drake. He was a lifelong resident of Hogansville and spent his life in public service. He was a Vietnam Veteran with the Marines, was a Hogansville Police Officer for 20 years, and was a Meriwether County Sherrif’s Deputy for 20 years. Mr. Drake enjoyed working with his hands, had a strong personality, and loved “overseeing” his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Stacy Miles (Jason) of Hogansville, Shana Drake of LaGrange, and Tanya (David) Bennett of Wilmington, NC; son, James D. Drake, Jr. (Brandi) of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Caleb Drake (Paige), Claudia Robinson (C J), Anna Andrews (Bruce), Logan Drake, Emily Drake, Jacob Miles, Taylor (Jordan) Thayer, Jackson (Alexis) Bennett, and Blake Powell; great-grandchildren, Kade Drake, Oakley Robinson, Morgan Thayer, and Andy Anderson; brothers, David Drake of Winston-Salem, NC and Danny Drake of Hogansville; and his faithful dog, Maxx. A resident of LaGrange most of her life, she was a member of Creekside Baptist Church and loved her Lord Jesus. She enjoyed car shows, gospel music, and family dinners. She loved everyone, but especially loved her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Survivors include her sons, Chris Maddox of Pensacola, FL, Tracy Maddox and his wife Aimee Maddox of LaGrange; daughter, Hazel Hampton of Hogansville; grandchildren, Victoria Maddox, Corey Hammett, Haylee Maddox, Rebecca Preast, Michael Hampton, and Wayne Fomby; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Eugene “Jack” Preast; son, James Anthony Preast; and great-grandson, Walker Eugene Hampton.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Massey of LaGrange; his children, Eddie C. Massey, Jr. of LaGrange, David Massey of Marietta, and Angela Massey Booth of Dallas; and grandchildren, Hanna Booth of Atlanta and Leah Booth of Boston, MA.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, at First Baptist Church on the Square in LaGrange. The Reverend Paul Blair and the Reverend Marty Carnes will officiate and interment will be in the Luthersville Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Whitten of Hogansville; daughter, Paula Smith and her husband Dustin Smith of Moreland; grandchildren, Will Brooks (son of Mark Brooks), Preston Smith, Kyleigh Smith, Emmalynn Smith; and sister, Ginny Duchesne of Hogansville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, John David Hosmer, Bud Hosmer, Hub Hosmer, Jim Hosmer, Bernice Coalson, Dood Hosmer, Gene Hosmer, Linda Mitchell, Lee Hosmer, Jerry Hosmer, and Bobby Hosmer.

He is also survived by his brothers, Keith Mallory, Michael Mallory, Gary Mallory (Meatha), Charles Mallory (Kristin); his mother in-law, Martha Davis Stuart; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his son, he is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Anne Mallory; sisters, Lorrie Mallory Seymour and Janet Renee Mallory; and brother, Charles Donald Mallory, Jr.

She had been a resident of Vernon Woods in LaGrange since 2016.
Survivors include her sons and daughter in-law, Bill and Wanda Lowe of Hogansville and Scott Lowe of Bloomsburg, PA; grandchildren, Lewis Lowe (Jessica Kahanek) of Washington, DC, Jessica Lowe (Jake Baigis) of Nashville, TN, Ian Lowe (Carolina Guardiola) of Venice, CA, Alexander Lowe (Katie Lowe) of Philadelphia, PA, Rebecca Lowe (Kyle Stokes) of Bend, OR; great-grandchildren, Joseph Lowe and Charles Lowe of Washington; sisters, Jackie Allen of Lemoore, CA, Joan Gore of Mableton, GA, Vickie Pickering of Syracuse, NE; sister in-law, Mary LeCure of Macungie, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
