Obituary Preview: Clarendon: Geary Shenck, 89, passed away suddenly September 8, 2021. Geary was born April 2, 1932 in PA., a son of the late Clarence and Ruth (Saylor) Shenck. Geary was a resident of Gates, NY before moving to Clarendon. Geary was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Church in Holley. Mr. Shenck was a farmer in Clarendon and at the same time a Milk Man in Gates. When Geary wasn’t farming, he was Town of Clarendon Supervisor, Town of Clarendon Constable and Orleans County Animal Control Officer, retiring in 1997. He is also known for his large collection of antiques and writing a monthly article in the Town of Clarendon Gazette “Tid Bits” by Geary “Moose” Shenck. Geary will be remembered for his love of family, his strong faith and his banter.
Geary is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marjorie; children, Mary (Jeff) Moscicki, Marjorie (Joel) Underwood, Patricia Spychalski, Catherine (Will) Reynolds, Geary Shenck Jr., Edward (Yvette) Shenck and Peter (Sarah) Shenck; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Zona Landis and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Charles was 'home born' in Clarendon, NY. He worked at Bausch and Lomb and joined the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation in 1954. He was a private pilot and traveled with Carol to game warden conventions and outings. He was a member of the Lions Club, Masonic Lodge and several Flyers clubs. He lived life by his terms. Charlie is survived by his son Randy (Joni), sister-in-law Elizabeth Robishaw of Holley, several nieces and nephews.

Deanna graduated from Holley High School in 2003. She adored her dogs Thor, Rosie and Tucker. She enjoyed 4-wheeling, going to the beach, working on her house and cars and loved watching the Buffalo Bills. Deanna had a big heart and would do anything for anyone in need. Whatever Deanna put her mind to she achieved. She loved spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents Willie B and Johnny Russ. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her soul mate Colleen Quinn; brother Duane (Stephanie) Russ; sister Danielle (Miles) Russ; nephews Eli and Jaxson; maternal grandparents Wayne and Diane Howard and several aunt, uncles and cousins.

Cole W. Hardenbrook, age 84, died August 8, 2021 in St. John’s Home following a long illness.
He was born June 18, 1937 in Brockport to William and Marion (Newman) Hardenbrook and had lived in this area his entire life. Cole was a former employee of T.J. Lipton Co., and ran the family farm for many years. He started and ran Hardenbrook Insurance Company for many years and for 26 years, was Chairman of the Board of the United Frontier Mutual Insurance Company. Cole was also a member of the Kendall Fire Department, Concordia Lutheran Church, and a Charter Member of the Kendall Lions Club. He loved playing golf and was a very social person who loved a good party! Mr. Hardenbrook was predeceased by his wife Patricia and sisters: Jane Wainwright and Ann Kleinbach.
He is survived by his son: William (Dorrie) Hardenbrook of Kendall, his daughter: Jan Marie Spates of FL, 4 grandchildren: Cole (Colleen), Jason (Elicia) and Bryan (Brianna) Hardenbrook and Luke (Kayla) Spates, and 8 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 16650 State Rt. 31-Holley, SUNDAY from 3-6pm only. She had lived in Holley since 1971 and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Holley. June was an avid quilter, gardener and crafter having displayed several items at the Genesee Country Museum.
June is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Fred; children, Fred (Lisa)Roeck Jr. of MT., Lori Herbert of AZ., and Rob (Mel) Roeck of AZ., grandchildren, Taylor Roeck, Evan and Troy Herbert and Finn Roeck; sister-in-law, Barbara Campbell and several nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Brockport/Holley: Christopher W. “Hooter” Pratt, age 61, passed away July 26, 2021 after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born November 3, 1959 in Rochester to the late Richard and Mary (Hargather) Pratt.
Chris lived a full life and kept a positive attitude throughout his battle with cancer. He was a huge Cleveland Browns fan and loved to cook on the grill. He was always able to make something from nothing. Chris loved spending time with his family and was always sure to make people laugh.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Michael, and mother-in-law, Patricia Blank.
Chris is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Pauline, his step-sons, Aaron (Melissa Selover) Koss, Joel Koss, brothers, Rick (Carolyn), Tim (Christine), father-in-law, Albert Blank, sisters-in-law, Colleen (Al) Roco, Barb Pratt, God mother, Peggy Commons and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Obituary Preview: Betty Jean Nellist, of Brockport NY, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2021 at the age of 89 after a brief illness.
Betty was born to the late Henry and Freda (Luke) Rachow on June 4, 1932 in Rochester NY. After graduating from Benjamin Franklin High School, she completed secretarial training and worked at Kodak. In 1955, Betty married Robert Nellist and they settled in the village of Barker, where they raised two children. In addition to being an outstanding homemaker, she worked part-time at Faith United Methodist Church and the post office.
A move to Brockport in 1986 provided Bob and Betty with the opportunity to be near family in their retirement years. Betty was very creative and enjoyed sewing, cross-stitch, crocheting, knitting and quilting. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she planned year-round for the big day. She always made it special for the entire family with delicious food and lots of presents under the tree. She was devoted to her family, and her grandchildren were her greatest joy.
Betty was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Robert. She is survived by her daughter Diane (Keith) Woodbridge, son Randy (Carla) Nellist, grandchildren Andrew (Kristy) Woodbridge, Joshua (Anat) Nellist, Kimberly (Derek) Ortiz, Emily (Caleb) Mabry, Adam Nellist, 6 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Richard (late Shirley) Nellist, a niece and nephew.

Lois enjoyed canning, watching Family Feud and going for a ride. She worked at T.J. Liptons in Albion for several years and was active in their annual gathering at the Tillman’s Village Inn. Lois always had a great memory and kept her whit and sense of humor until her passing.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Kenneth in 1992, sisters, Eileen Durrant, and Helen Gillette.
Lois is survived by her children, David (Diane) Schepler, Duane (Robin) Schepler, Cheryl (Kurt) Fishbaugh, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson.

Virginia was employed as a Buildings and Grounds Technician for the County of Orleans. She enjoyed going to the lake, loved flowers and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Roe was predeceased by a son: Adam Roe.

Len was well liked throughout the community. He was a great coach and great leader to his family. He will be deeply missed and loved by many people he has touched in their lives.

Danny was immersed in the community and neighborhood of each place he lived. Selfless and strong, the world could rely on Dan for every need no matter how small and would work on anything that needed to be fixed. Danny had a way of telling a story and giving his time and attention to all who asked that of him. He was indeed, the hardest worker you’ve ever met. His zest for life pushed him to always be learning something new and meeting new friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Danny is survived by his wife, Kimberly, children, Randy (Donna) Moore, Andrea (Mike) Geglia, step-daughter, Kristie Yager, grandchildren, Tyler, Lily, Octavia, Penelope, Joseph, siblings, Sue (David) Quarantello, Charles (Cindy) Moore, Paul (Holly) Moore, loyal four-legged companion, Missy, mother of his children, Rosemary Steffen, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Danny’s family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 16650 State Route 31 Holley, NY 14470 on Thursday, May 20th from 4:00-7:00pm. His funeral service will be held at the Disciples United Methodist Church 4410 Holley Byron Road Holley, NY 14470 on Friday at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Please note that face masks are required at the funeral home and the church.
His family gratefully declines flowers, memories will be gladly accepted or donations may be made to the Albion Future Farmers of America C/O Albion Central School District 324 East Avenue, Albion, NY 14411.

He was born February 24, 1929 in Holley, a son of George W. and Marguerite (Nesbitt) Murphy and was a life-long resident of this area. Bill was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War, a member of the American Legion, VFW and Navy Club of Brockport. He also belonged to the NYS Telephone Pioneers, the Holley Fire Department, the Antique Car Club of Batavia and enjoyed collecting, restoring and driving his classic cars. Mr. Murphy was predeceased by his wife Betty (Ward), his daughter: Kathy Murphy Rought, his brother: Bob and sisters: Lois Dill and Betty Rocco.
He is survived by his son: Jack (Judy) Murphy of MD, his daughters: Linda (John) Nielsen of Holley, Roberta (Howard) Knight of ME, his brother: Harold Murphy of SC, his grandchildren: Lisa and Matthew Nielsen, Beth Eisenberg, Rebecca Murphy, his great grandchildren: Ethan, Jessica, Gregory as well and several nieces and nephews and special friend, Eleanor Nichols.
There will be no prior calling hours.

Tom served his country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed watching sports and was always one to have a good joke and keep things interesting with his whit. Time with family, especially his grandchildren was always the most important time to Tom.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Patricia on October 7, 2005, his grandchildren, Antonio and Adrian Trupo, and sister, Helen Hunte, brother-in-law, George Hunte.

Joe will be remembered as a man with great spirit and love for his family. He enjoyed his music and cars and figuring out things on his own. Always ready to lend a helping hand when asked. Quick with a smile and a laugh even at his own expense. He passed peacefully surrounded by family after a painful short battle with cancer. He is already missed and will be rememberedacross generations to come. There will be a family gathering for a celebration of life later this summer where stories will be told, laughs will be had, music will be played and we may even work on a Mopar product or two.
