David J. Krump - December 14, 1944 - February 15, 2024

Departed: 02/15/2024 (Altoona)
Obituary Preview: David James Krump, 79, of Eau Claire, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with renal cancer.
David James Krump was born December 14, 1944, in Breckenridge, MN, to Lester and Marie Krump. He was the first-born child and was followed by a sister, Marilyn, a brother, Donald, and the last child, a sister, Cheryl. The family resided on a farm in Kent, MN, where they raised cattle and field crops.
Dave attended his first years of elementary school in a one-room country schoolhouse outside of Kent, MN. When the country school closed in 1954, Dave attended a two-room school, District #2, located in Kent, MN, and later, high school in Breckenridge, MN. David entered the U.S. Army on January 13, 1963, where he served in both Korea and Germany as a Military Police officer until his honorable discharge in 1966.
After returning home Dave began his truck driving career that lasted 48 years. During that time he proudly drove well over 4 million accident-free miles for the three companies he worked for. His first job was with Silverline Boat Company in Moorhead, MN, where he met his wife, Marsha. They were married on November 20, 1972, and moved to Abercrombie, ND, where LaNae Denise, Benjamin James and Megan Louise joined the family. He then drove for Pepsi Cola out of Fargo, ND, and finally for Walmart Distribution out of Menomonie, WI, at which time the family moved to Eau Claire, WI, in 1996. Dave retired from truck driving in 2014 to begin a new career in refereeing both the Price is Right and the Wheel of Fortune.
Dave’s special interests included showing two John Deere tractors that had been restored and were left to him by his father, Lester. He displayed his tractors at steam threshers reunions, area tractor shows and local parades where he was accompanied by his right-hand man, grandson, Malik David who aided him as his health declined by driving and helping fix and maintain his beloved tractors. There were also many hot card games of Smear played by the family. As soon as there were at least four or more members gathered in one spot, someone inevitably produced a deck of cards, a pen and score pad.
Surviving Dave are his wife, Marsha; his children, LaNae Booker (Mike), Benjamin Retzak Krump (Amanda), Megan Louise; grandsons, Theodore Loegering (Katie Jaques), Blake Loegering, Malik Krump, Atticus Retzak Krump, Sampson Retzak Krump, and Kendrick Krump; sister, Marilyn Krump (Gloria); brother, Doanld Krump (Jane); several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and many cousins.

Eunice M. Martinez, 88, of Chippewa Falls passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 14, 2024, at Grace Lutheran River Pines in Altoona.
She was born September 5, 1935, to Laura and Maynard Enloe in River Falls, WI. She graduated from River Falls High School and went on to work at 3M Corporation where she dedicated 35 years of service. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling and living in different places including Cross Lake in Pine City, Minnesota, where she loved to take the pontoon out, and 9 wonderful years at The Villages in Florida. One place you could be sure to find her was at the casino, whether it was Vegas, Laughlin, or closer to home at Hinkley or the Turtle! Win or lose she had a good time! She loved going on cruises, stopping at a good garage sale, playing cards – especially 500 with her siblings, and of course puzzles. She was a diehard Minnesota Vikings fan, even if they couldn’t give her one Super Bowl!

Bill was born on October 22, 1949, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, WI to William and Estelle (Muszynski) Beckwith. He became their middle child, with SusanKay being the older sibling and Tom, the youngest. He attended St. Patrick’s school for the first year then continued his education at Lincoln Elementary School, followed by Central Junior High. He graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1967. Following those years he enrolled in the University of WI - Eau Claire, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education (Math and History). He earned his Master of Education-Professional Development degree from UW-Eau Claire, in 1992. His first teaching job (1974) was at Arcadia High School in Arcadia, WI where he taught various math courses, history and aerospace. He also coached basketball, golf and baseball.
He met his soulmate and love of his life, Mary, during this time and they were married on July 23, 1977, at the Ecumenical Religious Center in Eau Claire. Family time was extremely important to him—from early outings with his parents and siblings, camping, spending time at his grandparents cottage on the Totagatic Flowage near Minong, sports, hunting, fishing …….all of these things carried over into his married life. Spending quality time together as a family, instilling in his boys, the love of the outdoors, sports and hunting were all were of utmost importance. He was also a role model as a man of faith, instilling values and truths that he hoped would last a lifetime.
Many memories were made with friends as well, especially times spent playing fastpitch and slowpitch softball (well into his 60’s-playing at several National tournaments), camping with the Pine Point Posse Group, pheasant and deer hunting with the Arcadia hunting group and hitting the links with the Tuesday Golf Guys and monthly lunch get togethers with the retiree luncheon group. Taking trips with friends to Florida, Hawaii, Arizona for spring training and times spent relaxing at the trailer on Lake Holcombe were also highlights. Often found lying on his lap, were springers, Gracie and Maddie and lab, Libby. All held a special place in his heart.

Are there options available for memorializing a loved one beyond the obituary?

Yes, Chippewa Valley Cremation Services may offer several memorial options such as online tributes, memorial videos, commemorative jewelry, and more.

What is the process of cremation?

Cremation is a process in which the body is exposed to high temperatures, reducing it to its basic elements, primarily bone fragments, which are then processed into finer particles known as ashes or cremated remains.

How is a cremation service different from a traditional funeral?

A cremation service may be simpler and involve the direct cremation of the body without a pre-funeral viewing. Traditional funerals usually involve a viewing or visitation and a burial service, although cremation can also include these elements if desired.

What is a direct cremation?

Do religions allow cremation?

Many religions permit cremation, although beliefs and practices vary. It is best to consult with your religious leader or Chippewa Valley Cremation Services for guidance that aligns with your religious or spiritual preferences.
