John “Ron” Hunter, 69, returned to his heavenly home on November 25, 2017. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his final days and he went peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Ron was born to the late John and Betty Hunter August 4, 1948. He grew up in Chicago and attended St. Matthias Grade School and graduated from Amundsen High School in 1966. He studied at Greer Technical Institute of Chicago and later became owner of an auto body shop. In 1999 he switched careers to PC Technician after completing studies at College of Lake County and worked for the Lake Villa School District until he retired in 2010.
Ron was blessed with a loving family. He married his high school sweetheart Evelyn on November 22, 1969. They had two sons; Chris and Tim. He was actively involved at Christian Life Fellowship for 33 years. He loved packing up his camper and going on camping trips, skeet shooting, visiting Antique stores, and watching Sherlock Holmes and Monk.
He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his Creator.
Ron is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his sons Chris and Tim; his grandchildren Isabelle, Caleb and Madilyn. He is preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Hunter and his parents.
Ron’s home going celebration will be at Christian Life Fellowship, 41625 N. Deep Lake Road, Antioch, Illinois 60002. Visitation will be 4:00-5:00 pm; Service 5:00-6:00 pm; Dinner at 6:00 pm provided by the church. Reverend Jeffrey J. Brussaly will officiate the service. The family gratefully declines flowers and donations, but prayers, condolences and memories are gladly accepted. Family assisted by:

She was is laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City, near her. Also, surviving is one grandson, Richard, residing in Pennsylvania. For many years, she served as member of the election board of Chicago. In Warsaw, she studied medicine and just past her second exam when she was arrested by the Nazi’s and her infant son died while in captivity. Vikki Waller always loved her Elizabeth, and remained positive, faithful, and never showed any weakness throughout her long life. He was the youngest of five children; including George and Richard Strausbaugh, and David and Patricia Fishel to Rita and Joseph Fishel. He grew up on a farm and lost his father at a young age. He got his CDL for truck-driving in 1976; he loved truck driving and riding his Harley Davidson and his Norton. He had four children; Jessica, Sara, Joseph, and Andrea. He married Christine Piper in 1977. In 1984 they moved to Chicago. In 1990 he bought his own semi-truck and started his own small business called Christine’s. In 2011 he became a proud Papa to his grandson Anthony Collins V. He worked hard his whole life and sacrificed for his family, the perfect embodiment of the saying; “To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.” He was also a loyal and fun friend to many. His soul had to depart from this earth on Oct. 11th, 2017 in Palos Heights, IL. Now he rests in Heaven with Jesus at last, finally at peace, finally unburdened. As Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). He will be sorely missed by many. Until we meet again, Dad, we love you.
