Jeanne Marie McGraw - September 05, 1946 - March 25, 2021

Departed: 03/25/2021 (Saint Paul)
Obituary Preview: Jeanne Marie McGraw passed away peacefully on March 25 with family by her side.  Jeanne was born to Olga and Alexander “Chick” Madich on September 5, 1946 in Chisholm, MN.  She attended Chisholm schools. Jeannie was always thankful for the wonderful upbringing and education she received.  Jeanne continued her education at Bemidji State University graduating with a BS in Music Education.
Jeannie was united in marriage to Michael McGraw August 31, 1968 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chisholm.  That began a wonderful life that spanned nearly 55 years for the couple.  Jeanne loved life.  Her wonderful smile and pleasant personality always warmed those around her.
Jeannie began her teaching career in Ellendale, MN.  She then moved to the cities teaching the remainder of her career as a music specialist in the Mounds View school system at Pinewood and Island Lake Elementary schools. Jeanne was a caring teacher who believed structure was important in children’s lives.  Jeanne took great pride in seeing their development and their interest in music grow.  She talked to students on many levels as one of her students put it, “She dressed to the nines, she was always so pleasant, she would talk hockey to a kid, how neat was that.  I still have the Anaheim Mighty Ducks puck she gave me.”  Jeannie retired in 2002 and enjoyed the freedom retirement allowed her for family, travel and “shopping”.
She loved the sport of hockey and was very supportive of Michael’s endeavors in the sport be it his professional scouting, analyst for the boy’s state tournament, summer hockey programs or other related activities.  Jeanne loved the time that Mike spent as coach at University of Wisconsin-River Falls.  She enjoyed the players and meeting their parents. Later Jeanne enjoyed the team reunions and was right in the middle of the banter.
Jeannie loved to shop and she made sure that shopping was included in their itinerary when trips were planned.  She had the ability to buy a skirt in St Paul, shoes in Phoenix and a top in LA and the colors always matched perfectly.  Jeannie loved purses and her philosophy was “a woman could never have enough purses.”  And of course, one needed the shoes and outfits to match.
Jeanne is survived by her husband Michael, her brother James Sr. (Carrie) Madich, their two children James Jr. (Bridget) Madich their daughter Marlowe who stole Jeanne’s heart and Molly Madich.  She is also survived by Mike’s brother Tom (Connie) McGraw and sisters Barbara (Chris) McMay and Mary (Jim) Brockman nieces and nephews, Kate, Christy, David, Mary, Susie, Kathy, Margaret, Danny, Timmy, Mona Lisa, Gina, Kim, Guy, Sean, Michelle, John and Treacy.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents Olga and Alexander, Mike’s parents Walter and Ellen McGraw, Mike’s sister Patricia Behar and her son David, and Mike’s brother William McGraw.
As requested by Jeanne there will be a private family service to celebrate her life.

Charles Luc LeBon - January 03, 1957 - October 20, 2020

Departed: 10/20/2020 (Saint Paul)
Obituary Preview: Charles Luc LeBon, better known as "Chuck," died peacefully in his home on October 20, 2020, just after a record breaking early snow storm in Minneapolis. He was born on January 3, 1957. He was 63 years old.
During the final months of his life he was supported by family and friends, near and far, old and new (and of course, the Dallas Stars in the Stanley Cup) who brought him joy, laughter, support and solace.
Chuck was a magnetic man who was both gentle and spirited. He brought compassion and humor to every encounter, especially at Pathways: A Healing Center, where he was the unofficial ambassador. He had a way of making new participants and providers feel welcome and safe.
Chuck graduated from Washburn High School in Minneapolis in 1975, where he was an outstanding athlete in track and field in both the 400 yard race and the relay. He played football, softball, and loved to waterski. He served in the US Army in the late 70's and early 80's in Germany and was honorably discharged. He graduated with an associates degree in business administration from the Minnesota School of Business. He worked at both Advanced Circuits and Reliance Motion Control in Eden Prairie where he built lasting friendships. He was a huge hockey fan and especially of the North Stars. Thanks to a dear friend, he got a visit from three of the former players in his last month of life.
Waywaaziibboonsin, Chuck's Indian name, means Glistening Winter Stones Along the River Bank. He was of Ojibwa/Odawa (Anishinaabe) and European descent and a proud member  of the Sault St. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara Blanchard and Luc LeBon and by his dear Uncle, Eric LeBon. Chuck leaves a hole in the lives of so many who loved him including his family: Carol LeBon, his stepmother, of Waite Park, MN; Sister Christine LeBon and Doug Grapple of Goleta, CA; Patty LeBon Herb and Guntram Herb of Middlebury, VT and their adult children, Henrik of Fremont, California and Natalie of Berlin, Germany;
and Laurie LeBon, his former wife and forever friend of Minneapolis. His extended family:
Maternal side: Bob and Sandy Blanchard, aunt and uncle with their children Rob, Casey and Annie Blanchard. Paternal side:
Aunts and Uncles in Belgium: Lieva, Aline, Marc LeBon; Patrick LeBon and Suzanne Weynants.
Cousins in Belgium: Helga S'Jongers and her daughter Manon Rosseel; Katrin S'Jongers; Anne S'Jongers and Patrick Spegelaere and their son Shen Spegelaere; Muriel LeBon and Dimitrios Lionakis and their son Lucianos Lionakis; Stefanie LeBon and Carlos Salvador and their son Naël Salvador-LeBon; and Robin LeBon.
Chuck delighted his healthcare providers and made a huge impact on his friends, who are too many to list. His spirit and love traveled with each and every one of us, around the halls of Pathways: A Healing Center, through the countryside of Belgium, on the various sports fields, rinks, golf courses and around his beloved Minneapolis lakes. He (and his Dodge Dakotah) will always be remembered.
One of his friends summed him up so well, "He made it easy to be his friend," which was so true.
Chuck connected so deeply with others. As he often said, “Without you, there’s no me," and he meant and modeled that so beautifully. He was an expert at connection.
Within a few weeks, there will be an announcement regarding a remembrance event to be held on Zoom. Please stay connected to www.chucklebon.com where we will continue to add photos and comments and memories.
Peace be your journey, dear friend. Giga-waabamin (I shall see you).
Memorials welcome to the Herb Brooks Foundation, an organization dedicated to growing the game of hockey for kids; Pathways: A Healing Center (Minneapolis Pathways); or Tubman who provides safety, hope, and healing to people who’ve experienced trauma.

Delores Van Alstine - August 21, 1921 - April 25, 2020

Departed: 04/25/2020 (Saint Paul)
Obituary Preview: Delores Van Alstine was beloved by all her family members, which spanned five generations. On April 25, 2020, she was reunited with all the family members that proceeded her in death. They include her mother, Agnes (Novak) Smisek, father, Edward Smisek, and 11 of her 13 siblings, Milton, Edward, Anna Jefferson, Leo, Mary Schmitt, Agnes Sieberg, Severina Bighley, George, Wilfred, Monica Sheprith, and Alvin. But most importantly of all she has been reunited with the love of her life, her husband, “Jimmy, "her husband of 22 years, with whom she is once again dancing, after 50 long-awaited years. The love they shared ran so deep, that before he was laid to rest. She sought and began to follow his path to heaven. When she looked back and saw the fear and pain in the hearts of her children. As a good mother often does, she put aside her own desires for their sake.
Delores was born August 21, 1921 in Foreston, Minnesota along with her sisters Agnes and Monica. They were a set of triplets which miraculously survived with the insight of their father. He incubated them by placing each of them in a shoe box. And placing the shoe boxes in the warming oven. Monica left us in 2002, and Agnes in 2019.
Delores lived most of her life in her home in Vadnais Heights, Minnesota. A home filled with the love shared between her and her beloved James Van Alstine and their five children, Michael (Sandra), Wayne, Diane Lovell-Thomas (Kenneth), Marilyn Senart (Richard), and Steve (Irene). Her eight grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren. There are many special moments that her children shared with her. All of them regardless of whether good or bad were understood as coming from a place of love. Her oldest son Michael summed up these feelings beautifully with the following words. “No matter what faults I challenged my mother with, she never stopped loving me.”
Mom’s heart was so filled with love it was seen and felt by people near and far. She always provided the time and emotional support that her children needed in their youth, and as adults when they asked for it. She gave it to her community with the thousands of hours she volunteered her time and talents. Her love was felt worldwide through small economic contributions of support she gave to her favorite charities.
Delores had a special bond with her siblings. Even those that were of a much younger age. When they were toddlers and elementary age children, she made many of their clothes. Soon after moving to St. Paul where she had obtained a job and an apartment of her own, Grandpa called her with the news Grandma was very sick. Grandma had been hospitalized and he needed someone to take care of the younger children. She quit her job and went home to care for them. Two of them, Irene Dietz and Ruth Brooks are her remaining surviving siblings. Leaving her long-time family home in Vadnais Heights, Delores moved into New Perspective in Roseville in 2018. The love she had given to others throughout her life was felt by the residents and staff members there. These words were often voiced by them when family members would visit, “Your mother is such a sweetheart.”
Delores became a member of St. John’s the Evangelist parish in Little Canada in 1958. She was a very active member of this community. It would be difficult to find a member of the parish that would not recognize her. She had developed a friendship with every priest that served the parish during that 62 years.
Some of my most cherished moments with Mom were after our relationship became not just mother and daughter, but good friends. Marilyn, Mom, and I would pick a town in Minnesota with a main street that could take us back in time. The three of us would spend hours in antique shops where all of us would reminisce about times past. We would take a break and eat lunch together in a local restaurant. Then we would continue our adventure until the shops closed, or we ran out of new shops to explore. This is the memory that Marilyn wanted to share with you. “My mom was the most unselfish person I have ever met. She always put other people’s needs before her own. She truly cared for others. So many memories—but the one most dear to me. Is when my mom helped me through the grieving when I lost my husband. She had been though the experience herself and comforted me many times. She made me realize that I wasn’t going crazy. I am surely going to miss her positive attitude”
