Theodis Gray - Unknown - September 16, 2021

Departed: 09/16/2021 (Louisville)
Obituary Preview: Deacon Theodis “Sugar Bear” Gray went home to be with Jesus on September 16, 2021 at the age of 68.  He was baptized at an early age and grew up in membership at Zion Chapel Missionary Baptist Church formally known as “Pine Hope” in Louisville, AL.  He remained there until his homegoing, with the exception of a brief period where he served as a member and deacon of the Abundant Life Christian Fellowship, Ozark, AL.
Theodis loved the Lord and was not ashamed to praise and worship Him.  He was one of the sweetest, kindest, loving, god-fearing men you could ever know.  He never complained regardless of how sick he would get.  The nurses always raved about what an excellent patient he was.  He loved everybody, but of course he especially loved his children/ grandchildren/step-grandchildren; his wife Addie, as he affectionately referred to as “Bae”; his family; Pastor and Sister Blakely; and his church family.
Theodis was a Momma’s boy and spent a tremendous amount of time with her and his siblings.   He loved fishing and was a GREAT cook. He spoiled his family every Christmas with his finely chopped collard greens with a hint of hot pepper.  He hated conflict and would avoid it at all cost by walking away or getting in his truck and leaving.
Theodis attended Clio Public School in Clio, AL.  After leaving school, he worked with his father sharecropping and later began working in the cotton mills.  However, the majority of his work was in the logging industry where he was one of very few to become certified. He remained in this line of work until he reluctantly retired with disability.
Theodis was predeceased by his parents James Otis and Eva Mae Gray; his brothers Jesse, Bobby, Donell, Jerry, Bennie, and Robert; two sisters Essie and Brenda.  He is survived by his wife Addie Gray, Louisville, AL; son Theodis Gray Jr. Daleville, AL; daughter Nina Gray, Clio, AL. four grandchildren Demariaon, Akeelah, Xavier, and Takaya; sisters Daisy(Lee)Miles-Ford, Rosa Gray, Bernice Gray, Marilyn Gray, Dorothy(Kennedy)Henry, and Alisha Gray all of Ozark, AL; Mamie Gray, Jeanette(Albert) Grubbs, Louisville, AL; Vela Nelson, Houston, TX; and Lesia (Rodger)Robinson, Montgomery, AL.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Annie Lou Stanford-Stephens - Unknown - August 20, 2021

Departed: 08/20/2021 (Louisville)
Obituary Preview: "At the request of the family and due to CDC guidelines regarding social distancing, the number of attendees is limited to 25 people maximum"
Annie Lou Stanford was born on March 29, 1944, in Doster, Alabama to Arthur Lee and Rosie Kelly-Stanford. She departed her earthly home for her final journey to be with EL ELYOM on Friday, August 20th:  at 11:09 PM.  She leaves to cherish her memory a blessed and grateful family and many cherished friends which have and will continue to benefit from the values and ethics which she instilled in us.  Mother joined St. Louis Baptist Church as a child:  where her family has attended and served for more than one-hundred twenty years.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who displayed a love like no other for her family.  She was a devoted mother and leaves three sons, John Fitzgerald Stephens of Tampa, Florida, Preston L. (Cherisse) Stephens of Riverdale, GA and Michael A. Stephens of Tampa, Florida to cherish her memory as well as four grandchildren Preston Arthur, Brandon Terryle, Simone Amelia, and Michael Anthony Stephens II.
My brothers and I were blessed to frequently travel to many locations with our parents and visit their siblings and gather with our extended family.  Mother was well-endeared throughout her large family which consisted of seven sisters; Arther Mae Pruitt, Panama City FL (Deceased); Annie Marie, Deceased; Rosie Marie Govan, Chicago, IL (Deceased); Mattie Mae Bryant, Buffalo NY, (Deceased); Annie Dean Brinson, McDonough, GA and Gloria Stanford, Doster, AL.  In addition, she also had eight brothers: John Henry Stanford, Cleveland, OH (Deceased), O.W. Stanford, Cleveland, OH (Deceased), Jay Lee Stanford, Doster, AL (Deceased), OJ Stanford, FL (Deceased), James E. Stanford Buffalo, NY (Deceased), Napoleon Stanford, Chicago, IL (Deceased); Levi Stanford, Doster, AL (Deceased) and Ernest Stanford, Chicago, IL.  As a child Mother was often noted by her parents to be the most rambunctious, toughest and loyal among her siblings and would always be full of energy, joy and laughter even during times of illness and hardships.
Our Mother was both the best and coolest Mom in the neighborhood.  She would ensure that her sons had the sportiest bikes biggest tents and the latest Daisy BB guns.  She allowed us to explore the forest and have campouts with our friends.  While Dad was working, she would take us to the annual Malvern Carnival and to the park to run, swing, slide and play almost every day of summer break.  Mom insisted we attend Sunday School as well as our Cub Scout and Webelos meetings:  that was a blast to us because it meant that we were able to be in the upcoming parades with both our pack and den mates.
Mom frequently took us to the park and would allow us to stay and play for hours on end as she chatted with other moms at the local Dairy Queen where she would enjoy her favorite banana split treat.  We ate ice cream cones and sandwiches:  during times of challenge, Mom would ensure we didn’t lose focus on our goals and that we completed our homework and turned it in on time.  Our Mom was both the cutest, coolest and toughest Mom on Reed Street.  She was always there for us even during times of uncertainty and always knew how to guide us to safety.  More than often Mother sacrificed her time, peace and space for us when we were uncertain or afraid of the outcomes.  She taught us to endure challenges and work to seek the best results.  She was a great cook and would often allow us to help her in the kitchen. Mother would tell us great stories of growing up on her parent’s farm with her brothers and sisters who were as equally close and protective of each other.  We, her sons were blessed to have Mother in our lives, more blessed at times than we’ve probably realized through the years.  She was always concerned more about others than she was herself.  She always had the innate ability to know that she was going to be alright.
Our dear Mother has entered God’s Presence with a new body and no more worries of either pain or loneliness.  She would often tell us “If you don’t see me cry then don’t you cry”.  It has often been said that our mother had a smile that would “light up the room” she never met a stranger, and she loved her family and her friends.  We now look to the sky both day and night to sense that smile as the source of our continued strength.  Mother, we will endeavor to keep your promise “not to cry”.  Mother, you were our biggest fan.  You took care of your three sons.  Rest Our Angel and continue to watch over us.  We your children and grandchildren will Always Love You and honor your memory!!!  Now take your well-deserved eternal rest.

Departed: 08/09/2021 (Louisville)
Obituary Preview: Kim Polland was born on June 12, 1976, to the union of Henry J. Burks and Gladys Coleman-Burks in Ozark Alabama. After graduating from East High School in Rochester, NY, Kim pursued her dreams in becoming a Registered Nurse. She obtained her Bachelors degree as a registered nurse and was on track to finishing her masters with a year left.  While still in high school, Kim worked at Wendy's restaurant where she met her husband (soulmate), Richard Polland of Rochester, NY. Together they raised four beautiful children which they cherish and loved dearly: Jessica, Javon’te, Da’shawn and Essence.
Kim loved spending time with family and was a true believer in helping others. Kim gave her life to Christ at a young age and a firm believer in the power of our Lord. She was a true Evangelist so much that she would go on missionary trips to Guatemala, Haiti, El Salvador, South America, and across the United States in helping spread  the gospel while providing medical aid to those in need. Kim would play various roles in upcoming movies and receiving credits as well as obtaining great connections in the film industry.
Although Kim wore multiple hats of profession, nothing topped her love for spending time with our Heavenly Father and with her family. She would take time off work during the summer months to have her grandchildren come down and stay with her and her husband to help in providing loving and unforgettable times. This year Kim had the privilege in also getting to have one of her nieces come down to stay the summer as well.
Some of Kim’s hobbies and passions were skydiving, traveling, fishing, cooking, swimming, feeding the homeless and of course spreading the gospel. Kim’s favorite verse from the Bible was Philippians 4:13 which reads “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneths me.” This verse was something that was imprinted on her soul and her daily life.
