A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd, Leavenworth, KS 66048. Connie passed away from an unexpected heart attack while working in the yard. He did pass doing what he did best, Mr. Fix It. He would do almost anything if asked and had the capability to do so. He is a Vietnam Veteran, PFC 135 INF Division, and was very proud to admit so. He had a rough and tough exterior but, on the inside, he was just a big ole softy!
I hope he was greeted in Heaven with open arms from his Father and Mother. Jeanne was born July 20, 1945 in Hampton, IA to Paul and Ruth Sheehan.  Jeanne grew up in Clarion, Iowa with 7 brothers and sisters and raised her family in Rowan, Iowa. Jeanne loved to meet new people to whom she would ask the same questions: Are you married?  Do you have any children? and do you know Jesus? She loved working with special needs children, sewing, crocheting and making clothes for her grandkids. Jeanne was loved by many and will be sorely missed. She loved Jesus and her Ronnie and is now with them both.
She follows her husband Ronnie Joe Brooks and she leaves behind 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Cameron Jazelle Wolford was born on August 21, 2008 in Overland Park, KS. She enjoyed the outdoors, skateboarding, archery, working on cars with her dad, loved all sorts of music, reading, learning and discussing history, loved the water, spending time with her family and friends, and exploring the unknown, and not to mention getting dressed up and doing her makeup. A true tomboy, princess. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Cameron is survived by her parents, her father Rob Wolford, her mother Mindy Crain and stepfather Travis Crain; her 6 sisters, Ella Wolford, Kyla Wolford, Blakley Crain, Mana Crain, Ebony Crain,and Kamrin Crain; her brother Kilik Crain; her grandparents, Jim Lorenz, Cameron Lorenz, Gerald Wolford and Renee Graham-Wolford; predeceased by her grandmother Patti Wolford; she's also survived by her nephew Dexter and 2 nieces Bleu and Anika. courthouse and picked up by missionaries at the age of three hours. She lived six months in an orphanage with the name AkSul Kim until she was adopted by James and Joan Freeman
of Anaheim, CA. entering via Portland, OR.
As a child she became a naturalized US citizen. She spent her early childhood living in the shadows of Disneyland…
where she spent much time and acquired amazing memories. Later her parents returned to their native Missouri where she spent the rest of her childhood in Gladstone, Missouri
graduating from Winnetonka High School in Kansas City North in 1978. Her early work career was spent at Worlds of Fun as the front gate supervisor. In that same period ,she became a Kansas City TV personality as
spokesperson for Frank Ancona Honda…”Please be kind to Frank Ancona”. Her primary career was in the financial industry with Midland Loan Service … as manager of Portfolio Services
until she became disabled in the early 2000’s. Debbie received two kidney transplants in her lifetime, survived cancer, sepsis, dialysis and numerous surgeries
until she was called heavenly for her new body – as she would say. She was amazing courageous … a model for us all… charm, kindness, beauty, talent and intelligence all came together in one person. She loved photography, art, plants and animals and buying stuff for her husband and family, She is survived by her husband Jay who she married in 2000, three stepchildren … Laura, Jay and Joel … and eight grandchildren
Her parents James and Joan passed away in 1998 and 2016 respectively. Her brother Greg left us in 2018 . She is also survived by a niece
Ashley Moore of Tracy, MO and a brother Robert Freeman of Kansas City. She was much loved !

Obituary Preview: Marilyn Kay Heitzman (née Stidham) was called to her heavenly home early Sunday morning, January 7, 2024. She passed away in her home, on the family farm near Eudora, Kansas. Marilyn was born on November 14, 1937, in Catlettsburg, Kentucky. She was 86 years old.
Marilyn graduated from Huntington High School in Huntington, West Virginia, in 1956. She attended Bob Jones University and Marshall College, and she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Denver in 1960. Upon graduation, she was hired as a design artist for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Missouri.
Marilyn married Paul Raymond Heitzman on April 12, 1963. They had three children together and seven grandchildren, and they shared 59 years of love and commitment.  Not long after their marriage, Paul and Marilyn, along with Paul’s parents, purchased their farm near Eudora, Kansas. Soon after the birth of their first child, Marilyn chose to give up her promising career at Hallmark and devoted herself to being a full-time farm wife and mother. However, she never lost her passion for art and continued to draw, paint, and create for the rest of her life.
Once her children were in school, she returned to the workforce as a paraprofessional with the Special Education Cooperative in the Eudora school district. Later, she became the librarian at Nottingham Elementary School, a position she held until her retirement in 1998. Friends and family will remember Marilyn as a kind, gentle, and loving woman who was also a proud and devoted grandmother to her seven grandchildren. She had a great love and empathy for all animals, especially those who had the good fortune to be her pets. No animal ever had a better friend than Marilyn. She was a lifelong Christian and faithful member of Hesper Friends Church near Eudora, Kansas.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents, Robert Bruce Stidham and Ura Tay Stidham (née Lyon); her beloved aunt, Sarah Lotus Lyon; her sister, Shirley Joan Wiseman (née Stidham); her brother, Tallmadge Stidham; and her daughter, Patricia Ann Heitzman.
She is survived by her son, Richard Dalton Heitzman, of Holton, Kansas, his wife, Aimie, and children, Jeffrey, Abigail, Gladys, and Olivia; her daughter, Sally Jo Johnson (née Heitzman) of Eudora, Kansas, her husband, David, and children, Tyler, Haley, and Riley; and her cherished dog, Speedy. A memorial service and celebration of life for Marilyn will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Hesper Friends Church. A visitation with the family will be held prior to the services beginning at 10 a.m. Services at 11:00 AM She will be laid to rest at the Eudora Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers and other gifts may be made to Hesper Friends Church at 2355 N 1100 Rd, Eudora, KS 66025 and may be sent in care of Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, 32665 Lexington Ave, De Soto, KS 66018

Obituary Preview: Dott E. Stephens, 86, of De Soto, KS passed away on December 10, 2023 peacefully at her home.
Private services were held De Soto Cemetery, De Soto, KS. Donations may be made to De Soto Food Pantry
Dott was born November 6, 1937 in Sulphur City, AR to Ottis and Opal (Wood) Price.  Dott was a beautician for many years and she had two different locations on Main St., while owning the beauty shop, she opened De Soto Flowers in 1976 and she was there until 2005. She grew up on the corner of Main St. in De Soto where she also attended school. Dott knew everyone. She married Donald Stephens on June 6, 1953 and moved to Colorado Springs where Don was in the Army.
Dott enjoyed people and was very De Soto minded. She had visions for the town she loved so much and she never let anyone stop her. She organized fundraisers for new Christmas lights for the city and to help restore Abbot Hall for a local museum which they had purchased. She volunteered to help with many other fundraisers. This was a big part of her dreams for De Soto. She made wedding cakes and birthday cakes for many years for many people. She stood up for what she believed in and Don was always there to back her up.  She was a member of the De Soto Baptist Church,
she belonged to the Pleasant Hour Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She was the Grand Marshal and volunteered at the De Soto food pantry.  Dott retired from her loved Main St. De Soto.
She fought many battles with her health. She had a will to live starting from the time she was born until the end. She and our dad had a great life and they gave all of us one too.
She had a lot of passion for people, a good heart and warm soul. She was always our constant.
Predeceased in death by her parents, husband Donald Stephens, sons Michael and Douglas Stephens, sisters Virginia Osburn and Marcelline Mohler and brothers Bob Price and Claude Price.
Survived by daughters Marcia McGoldrick of Glenwood, IA and Deanna Noe-Stephens of De Soto, KS, grandsons Aaron (Lori) McGoldrick of Glenwood, IA,  Donald McGoldrick of Rapid City, SD, Hunter (Ashley) Noe and Huston (Kelsi) Noe both of De Soto, KS, sister Inez Ferrel of Olathe, KS, brother Tib (Pat ) Price of De Soto, KS, great grandchildren Landon, Cooper, Trenton, Olivia, Carson, Reagan, Evie, Dillon, Rae, Reed and baby Rowan due anytime.

Pat was born on November 6, 1959, at St. Mary's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. He lived in Roeland Park, KS from 1959-1967, moved to St. Peters, Mo where he resided from 1967-1971, St. Joseph, Mo from 1971-1985 before moving to Johnson County, Kansas where he lived until his death.
He graduated from Central High School in St Joseph in 1978 and Missouri Western. Pat worked at St. Joe Cablevision, KQTV St Joe and retail in Kansas City. He was married to Sue Dilly and had two boys, Adam Cundiff and Nathan Cundiff.
Pat loved sports and specifically the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs. He was always up for games, sports and anything else competitive.
Patrick Cundiff is survived by son Adam Cundiff and Amanda Cundiff and their children, California and Georgia. Also, brothers, Jay E Cundiff III of Gardner, KS Michael J. Cundiff of Lenexa, KS and Cathy Krumme of Faucett, MO.
Pat was an extremely kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Obituary Preview: Glenn Fredrick Malone, age 86, passed away December 1, 2023 at his home in Olathe, KS. Glenn was born May 18, 1937 in Lenape, KS, the son of John Fredrick Malone and Jessie Juanita Moxley.
Glenn grew up in the De Soto area and graduated from De Soto Rural High School in 1956. He ran track and held the record for the mile, he also played football. After high school he joined the Air Force reserves and served for eight years. He was a member of the American Legion in Olathe, KS. Throughout his years of employment, he worked for Sunflower Ammunition Plant, Ford Motor Company and was a painter. He had four children: Melody (Topeka, KS), Mitchael (Garnett, KS), Mickey and wife Traci (Edwardsville, KS), Martina and husband Mauricio (Stillwell, KS). He had eight grandchildren: Kristal, Laura, Shelby, Brandon, Jordan, Rifkin, Savannah, and Jaxon. He also had eight great grandchildren.
Glenn loved sports - his favorite teams were KU Jayhawks, Kansas City Chiefs, St Louis Cardinals and the Denver Nuggets. He never missed a game if he could help it. He coached baseball in De Soto for many years. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and his dog Buddy. He was loved by many and will truly be missed.
Glenn was preceded in death by his mother, father and his brothers, Paul and John.
Glenn is survived by his sisters, Mary and Juanita.
Services, followed by a lunch reception, will be held at the American Legion in Olathe, KS on Sunday January 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM.

Maria loved living in De Soto for over 20 years. Her good heart and soul reaching out to friends and family here and in Mexico. She always had a helping hand. She found it easy to reach out to so many that was less fortunate than her. Her love and kindness showed through everything she did. Maria loved to cook, her specialty was Jello of all types. One way she could express her passion was in the kitchen.
Maria was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Christopher is predeceased by grandparents Melvin and Wynell Pittman along with his brother Ryan Pittman.
He is survived by his ex-wife Tara Wise of Lawrence, Kansas; sons Cameron and Cody Pittman of Kearney, Missouri; father Melvin Pittman of Effingham, Kansas; mother Donna Creason of Leavenworth, Kansas; sister Melinda Henry of Leavenworth, Kansas; grandparents Donald and Jeannene Grape of Lawrence, Kansas; niece Chloe Thakker of Eudora, Kansas; nephews Evan Thakker of Eudora, Kansas and Gage Henry of Lawson, Missouri; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Obituary Preview: Ronald Leon Weber passed away Nov 11, 2023 at Olathe Medical Center. Ronald was born July 5, 1948 in Springfield, Missouri to Archie and Alma F (Newland) Weber. He grew up in the De Soto area graduating from De Soto High School in 1966. He completed technical school,
before entering the US Army. Ronald retired from King Radio/Honeywell in 2010 after 40 years of service. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, snowmobiling, and just enjoying life in retirement. He always had a project going on inside and out in his garden. He had the knack to grow the best tomatoes in
the neighborhood.
Preceded in death by Parents Orville W (Archie) and Alma Weber.
Ronald is survived by his family.
Wife and best friend, Sharon Lust of 25 years. Daughter, Hayley Weber (Osawatomie)
Sons, Ryan Weber (Olathe) and Eric Lust (Kansas City).
He was our "rock", always there for us and will be missed so much. Siblings, Sandy Miller, Gerald Kennon, Debbie Anderson,
and Linda Leatherwood, (Arkansas). He also has one grand-daughter, Kaylee Adams, who he
enjoyed spending time with when she was growing up.

Funeral services on November 8, 2023 will be at Seneca-Cayuga Nation Community Center at 2:00 PM with graveside at Bassett Grove Cemetery, Grove, Oklahoma. Visitation will be on Nov. 7, 2023, from 6-8:00 PM at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, 32665 Lexington Ave., De Soto, KS.
Glenda was born to Floyd and Jackie (Logan) Birdsong on July 6, 1953 in Kansas City, KS. She was the oldest of 11 children and enjoyed caring for her younger siblings. Glenda was married to Paul Evan Barton for 25 years and together they had four children. As the family matriarch, Glenda also adopted and raised three of her grandchildren. In her retirement, Glenda moved to Northeastern Oklahoma to be closer to her siblings and Tribe.
Even though she left school after the 9th grade to help her family, Glenda completed her GED and attended Haskell Indian Nations University. She worked in several factories, including working as an embroidery operator at Gear for Sports for many years. She loved to embroider, crochet and sew and she passed these skills along to her children and grandchildren. She was a long-time member of Elm Grove Baptist Church in Bonner Springs, KS, and most recently was a member of Faith Builders International Church in De Soto, KS. Glenda is most vividly remembered as a funny, loving, kind and genuine soul who touched many hearts.
Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, sister Karen Birdsong, brother Donald (Donnie) Birdsong, sister Geraldine (Breezy) Tehee, daughter Karla Barton, granddaughter Austina (Boogies) Barton, grandson Melvin Shamblin and one great-grandchild.
Glenda is survived by her sisters, Rhonda (Dude), Sharon (Katie), Katherine (Kathy), and Lisa; brothers Ronald (Ronnie), Thomas (Tom) and Lonnie (Lou); children Paul J. Barton, Kim E. Guyett and Kevin L. Barton; grandchildren John Secone, Desirae Upton, Tracee Barton, Andrea Wiglesworth, Lance Barton, Skyla Barton, Kaitlyn Donell, James Barton, Takoda Walker, Charles Smith, Kaylee Eulitt, Kriz Barton, Gage Delibro, Braiden Barton, Kai Delibro, Alyssa Delibro, Jozlyn Barton, Tyr Guyett, Cole Barton, Ruger Barton, and Cam Barton; 12 great-grandchildren (and more on the way!).

He was born October 22, 1935, in rural Paola, KS to Roy E. and Lalah Blanche Barnes. He grew up and attended public schools in Ottawa, KS, graduating in the OHS class of 1953. Charles received a BS degree from Pittsburg State University and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1957. He was employed with First National Bank of Ottawa, Monsanto Chemical Co., National Homes Co. and founded Lancer USA Inc.
Charles is survived by his wife Diane Barnes, daughters Linda Prostko (David) of Middleville, MI and Valerie McDonough (James) of Gypsum, CO; stepson Brandon Wier (McKinley) of Dallas, TX; stepdaughter Sara Wagner (Jason) of Overland Park, KS; his grandchildren Scott Henricks, Ashley Augustine, Warren Prostko, J.D. Prostko; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother Wilber G Barnes of Lansing, KS and sister Linda Mankiewich of Mackinimaw, IL.

She was born on May 3, 1958.  She graduated from De Soto High School in 1976 and graduated college with 2 bachelor's degrees. She was registered in Kansas as a Child Advocate. Testifying in court regarding temporary and permanent placement for many children. Wendy became a foster parent. She enjoyed kids and always worried about them.  She always had a smile and was happy to see and talk to people. Her heart was bigger than life and she had a loving and caring way about her.  She gladly welcomed old and new friends. She grew up in De Soto and was a member of the De Soto Baptist Church for many years, then she moved to Gardner, KS., Topeka, KS and then to Marshall, MO.
Wendy was never married and has no family able to help take care of her final wishes. A classmate has stepped forward and we brought Wendy home to De Soto.
The strong relationships built though friendships from school and beyond. Forging friendships for a lifetime. Showing not only she cared for them, but they cared for her. She touched to many lives.
There will not be any services for Wendy, but she will be laid to rest at Shawnee Memory Gardens with her parents.
Christmas was Wendy's favorite holiday. We ask that you hang a pair of wings or an angel on your tree in remembrance of Wendy. The warm heart and solid soul of our friend. He is watching over his children, Racheal Sanders, Tracy Carr (Dwight), Robert Sanders (Vicki), Vanessa Phalen (Matt) and Payton Sanders; and, of course the light of his life, the grandchildren, Phoenix Carr; Donavan, Bennett & Lewis Sanders and Charli & Mason Phalen; he is also survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Jennifer Sanders; along with his siblings Rodney Sanders (Viola), JoAnn Kearney (Walter), Patricia Sanders-Hall (Steven) and Carole Forte' (Jerome); and many loving nieces and nephews, cousins and his dear aunt Mason Byrd.

Cynthia was born May 2, 1953 in Lawrence, KS to Ralph and Esther (Cook) Cross Jr. Cindy was the youngest of three children. She was raised in De Soto by her mother and graduated in 1971. She moved to Kansas City, KS for most of her adult life. She retired from AT&T Communications as a Customer Service Representative. Shortly before retirement, she moved to Valley Falls, KS where she lived for 22 years. She loved the farm life and was passionate about her animals.
She enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors. When the opportunity came, she loved to travel. She had been all over Europe, Scandinavia, Canada and many places in the US. She went on multiple cruises. Preceded in death by parents Ralph and Esther Cross and daughter LeAnn

Janell was born on March 20, 1966 to Marion and Helen (Walton) Wenger in Oberlin, Kansas. Janell graduated from Faith Academy and attended Christ for the Nations Institute, receiving her associates degree in Biblical Theology. She enjoyed babies & children, family, friends, taking pictures of and with cherished ones, making photo albums, being a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), watching the KC Chiefs, KU Jayhawks and cheering her sons on in sports. Her sons loved her compassion for others, her infectious laugh, her unwavering commitment and support and how any friend of theirs was treated like a part of their family. As at home, her coworkers at Merck Animal Health proclaimed she was the glue that held everything together. Janell was a member of Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Janell was united in marriage to Gary Slater on September 27, 1986 in Oberlin, Kansas and enjoyed raising & teaching their four sons.
Janell was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Helen (Walton) Wenger.

Lori lived numerous places throughout her life, attending school in La Grange, IL and graduating from La Grange High School in 1954. Lori attended Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas for two years, marrying her college sweetheart Richard Terry Scroggins on September 7, 1957. Richard and Lori were blessed with four children, Kimberly Sue (Mark) Price, Stephen Craig (Valerie) Scroggins, Julie Lynn (Paul) Stanley and James Kevin (Lisa) Scroggins.
Lori enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, reading, flowers and being outside on a bright sunny day! While her children were growing up Lori served as a Girls in Action Leader, Girl Scouts Leader and AFS volunteer. Richard and Lori opened their home and hosted one AFS foreign exchange student, “Yupadee “Kyo” Kanjanarungsee.
Lori held several positions in her lifetime. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for Ransom Memorial Hospital Administrator in Ottawa, KS, Ottawa University Alumni Office, Southeast Elementary School in Clinton, MO, First Baptist Church, Cameron, MO, 5th Street Baptist Church, Hannibal, MO, First Baptist Church, Bartlesville, OK and First Baptist Church, Longview, TX and retiring as Administrator of the Wee Learn Center in Longview, TX.
Lori was preceded in death by her brother, Craig Russell Harrison, parents and husband.
Lori is survived by her 8 grandchildren, Shelby (David) McVey, Rachel Stanley, Colby Scroggins, Alec Stanley, Olivia (Issac) Morrill, Logan Stanley, Benjamin Scroggins and Erin Scroggins, 2 great-granddaughters McKenzie and Katlyn McVey, 1 great-grandson Noah James Morrill and one twin sister, Lillian May (Bernie) Myers of Auburn, IN, many nieces, nephews and friends.
