James J. McCauley - February 13, 1948 - April 29, 2024

Departed: 04/29/2024 (Norwood)
Obituary Preview: James J. McCauley, 76, of Springfield, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024.
Born February 13, 1948 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late James E. and Barbara (Dooley) McCauley.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Gayle (McGinnis) McCauley. Seven children; Scott (Elaine Faro) McCauley, Kristen Harris, Melissa McCauley, Rebecca (Billy) Pullin, Amanda (Shawn) Dawson, Andrew (Sarah) McCauley, Samantha (DJ) McCarthy. 12 grandchildren; Jimmy, Ryley, Bridget, Abigail, Zoey, Charlotte, Jack, Maggie, Owen, Kevin, Grant, Tommy. Brother; Daniel McCauley.
Jim grew up in Philadelphia, PA and attended St. Barnabas Elementary School and graduated from West Catholic High School in 1966. He was a veteran and served in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969 where he earned numerous honors and medals. After his service he worked various jobs and eventually worked for PECO energy as a lineman and later in management roles. He would retire from PECO after 39 years of service. Retired for 16 years he enjoyed every holiday and weekly Sunday dinners spent with his family and above all getting to spend his days with his wife, Gayle.
Jim and Gayle were the perfect pair. They were married almost 54 wonderful years and did everything together. Wherever Gayle went you were sure to find Jim right there with his bucket hat on! And for "people who need children" they had seven children and 12 grandchildren. Jim loved to work with his hands. He built an awesome fort that his seven kids, a handful of grandkids, and countless neighborhood kids would play in year round. You could often find him in his shed at 217 toying around and fixing things! He had a hand in just about every school project and made some fierce marble rolls over the years! His children helped…a little!
He did many remarkable things in his life but he was put here on Earth to be a loving husband, incredible Dad and proud Pop Pop! If he wasn't making all of us laugh (at appropriate and inappropriate times!) he was swimming with us in the pool, attending every sporting event he could, which was just about all of them, or asking mom if there was anything he could do for her. He made sure we learned from our mistakes and appreciated what we had, which was and still is a lot. Jim was above all a good-natured, honest, hardworking man. He was a good friend and even if he didn't always remember your name or get it right, he knew you and he liked you! He would often start a conversation with "it doesn't get any better than this" and for all these years with him he was certainly right! We will miss him forever, remember him in everything we do, and try our best to be as good and as funny as he always was! We promise to take good care of MOAC (Mom) and Mona (the cat) will always get her 100 pets!
Private services will be held for family and a Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a time and date to be announced.
Memorial contributions can be made to The St. Jude Foundation or Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.

Clementine Mottola - November 14, 1988 - April 11, 2024

Departed: 04/11/2024 (Norwood)
Obituary Preview: Clementine Mottola gave up her spirit on April 11th, 2024. Her presence and love is still felt by her three surviving children and the many friends and family who have been blessed to know her in life. Her unique style and energy will not be forgotten. She was especially positive and talented at making new friends by making people feel comfortable and safe in her presence even in the most public or unlikely environments. Her humor and confidence persevered multiple hardships and was precious to those she inspired and supported past their own challenges.
Clementine was known as both Clementine Spillane and her legal name Courtney Mottola. She passed in an instantly fatal collision at 1131 pm in Elkton MD on the way home after her last rideshare customer was dropped off. A conflicting date of April 12th agrees with the official declaration from emergency response at five past midnight. She met David Spillane in April 2014 and was committed to their partnership in raising their three kids together. She enthusiastically declared that she had more love to give than could fit into a single relationship and she maintained her independence and joy in meeting new people during their decade of steady association. They share two daughters, Lucielia Delphine and Lorelei Raine, and their son Loick Morpheus. (Age 9, 8, and 5 respectively). Clementine is also survived by her parents Craig Mottola and Danielle Francke-Mottola.
In 2018 Clementine earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration and Marketing Management from Lansdale School of Business, Lansdale PA. She had a multitude of occupations and interests designed to earn income. Clementine was raised in the family-owned party goods and balloon catering store and was still active in that service as an adult. Her favorite career was as a rideshare driver. Clementine was proud to boast a near-perfect rating of 4.99 out of 5 after more than 10,000 trips over the past seven years. She took great pride in decorating her car with a spooky theme the entire year. She had an aptitude to make her customers immediately at ease and comfortable. She enlivened and counseled many passengers, culminating in friends and contacts she found precious.
Clementine was extraordinarily challenged in changing her health and appearance. She recovered from successive surgeries after a 220 pound weight reduction. Diligence in diet accounted for more weight loss than the surgical complications. She recently invested in professional photographs through a modeling agency. Most of her clothes and possessions were lost in a devastating fire in December of 2023. She put considerable effort into recovering from those losses and building a collection of clothes or accessories she found unique and delightful. She had a special way of shocking strangers and making them smile with her infectious happiness and confident poise.
Memorial services are planned for Monday 29 April 2024, noon to 3 pm at Cavanagh Funeral Home at 301 Chester Pike, Norwood PA 19074. Participants are encouraged to wear tie-dye or otherwise colorful attire. She would often state that she squeezed the marrow out of life. Clementine desired her funeral to be approached as a happy event and a celebration of what she accomplished and experienced. Her life was dedicated to love and adventure.
