Margaret Jean Petrone - September 23, 1953 - April 09, 2024

Departed: 04/09/2024 (Greenwich)
Obituary Preview: A loving daughter, dedicated wife, supportive stepmother, extraordinary grandmother, and loyal friend to many, Margaret Jean (Kunz) Petrone died on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. She was 70 years old. Margaret, better known as Peggy or Nana Peg to those who loved her, was born in Berlin, Germany on September 23, 1953, to George and Jean (Sinclair) Kunz. As children, Peggy and her brother Tom moved all around Europe thinking they were children of a government ambassador. Little did they know, George Kunz worked for the CIA. After graduating from the International School of Geneva, Switzerland, Peggy moved to the United States to attend college and study French Literature. Right after college, Peggy began working at Xerox Corporation and remained with the company for 34 years. Eventually, she became the administrative assistant to the CEO, coordinating events for top leadership. Peggy loved her time working at Xerox, and the people she spent it with. So much so, she could regularly be found lunching
with her ladies at Zody’s 19 th Hole. They say the third time is the charm, but in 1988, after just missing each other at his birthday party, the rock at Bruce Park, and the Ground Round, Peggy met her one true love, Rick Petrone. They were married on June 12, 1992, in Fairfield, CT. They built their home in the shoreline town of Greenwich, in a little neighborhood called Chickahominy, which is where they hosted those closest to them for their annual holiday lasagna parties. Together they enjoyed traveling, whether it be a visit to Martha’s Vineyard, a jazz cruise through the Caribbean, or just a ferry ride to Island Beach, they loved the sea salt air. Peg also loved watching her husband play the bass and loved listening to his albums. She will always
be his greatest fan. In her free time, Peg was a passionate supporter of many causes. She also loved to garden, bird watch, and enjoy a round of golf. Often, Saturday evenings were spent front row at jazz clubs enjoying their favorite artists. From November until April, Peg could always be found cheering on Geno Auriemma and the UConn Women’s Basketball team. Her granddaughters loved receiving text messages saying “Go UCONN!!!” with a recap of what a great game it was. Being such an avid UConn fan, you may be surprised to find out that Peg actually attended Drew University. Once the majority of her family
graduated from UConn, however, they granted her honorary alumni status. Peg was predeceased by her parents, George and Jean Kunz, as well as her brother Thomas Sinclair. She is survived by her husband, Richard Petrone, her stepdaughter, Lisa Lindsay (William), stepdaughter, Jamie Petrone, and three beautiful granddaughters, Meghan, Erin, and Emma Lindsay. Friends may call at the Castiglione’s Funeral Home, 544 Old Post Road No. 3, Greenwich, CT, on Friday April 26 th , 2024, from 4-7pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Roch’s Church, 10 St. Roch Avenue, Greenwich, CT, on

Salvatore James DeAngelo - July 26, 1923 - March 18, 2024

Departed: 03/18/2024 (Greenwich)
Obituary Preview: Salvatore (Sal / Pops) J. DeAngelo, a lifelong resident of Greenwich, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 18, 2024 at age 100. His family celebrates his beautiful example of a life filled with contentment and his unwavering attention to what mattered most to him – spending time with other people.
Sal was born July 26, 1923, to Frank and Rafaela DeAngelo, Italian immigrants from Rose, Italy. Sal and his seven siblings; Mary, Charles, Bruno, Angie, Rosie, Millie and Edith grew up in the tight-knit Chickahominy neighborhood near St. Roch Church, where his father tended a large garden and the family spent countless hours enjoying the shade of their grape arbor. Sal attended Hamilton Avenue School and Greenwich High School. The Greenwich Boys Club was also a formative part of his youth, for developing a lifelong passion for sports. He earned the nickname “Spike” from being such a good baseball player.
Sal enlisted in the US Army in 1943 serving his country with the 96th Signal Corp Battalion in WWII in the China, Burma, and India theaters. His family received the surprise and thrill of a lifetime when he returned home from war on Christmas Day, 1945.
Sal spent 47 years working in sales / customer service for the Allen Brothers Cadillac - Oldsmobile dealership. Like many of the young men he grew up with, he worked as a waiter at Manero’s Restaurant and loved to tell the story that he waited on Yankee baseball great, Joe DiMaggio.
Sal met the love of his life, Anne, while playing softball at Bruce Park. He took her to the Bruce Park Grill after the game and the rest is history as they married in 1956, raising 3 children: Bob, Don and Dina in a newly built house near Central Junior High School.
Greenwich was Sal’s town; he truly loved living here. A drive in the car with Sal was a traveling history lesson of Greenwich. He and Anne had a fabulous group of life-long friends that were founding members of St. Agnes Church. He stayed active by playing tennis, handball and racquetball at the YMCA.
Sal was a voracious reader and loved crossword puzzles and ice cream. He was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus member. He and Anne loved going to Tod’s Point Beach, and just relaxing on the patio overlooking their pool. With great pride, Sal was a member of the Retired Men’s Association (RMA) and a Red Baron volunteer at Greenwich Hospital amassing 22,000 hours. On his 100th birthday last year, he was presented the “Volunteer of the Century Award” by Greenwich Hospital.
Pop’s great sources of pride and happiness were his wife, children, grandchildren, and many nieces / nephews, cousins and friends. He was a great storyteller. He lived totally in the moment, being happy where and who he was with. He possessed the great gift of making people feel welcome. He wanted to help you with anything and to look out for you. His own words convey the essence of his life, “I have had a truly wonderful life. I was lucky to be raised in Greenwich. I was blessed with a super wife, children and grandchildren and had many friends. I could not ask for anymore.”
Sal was predeceased by his wife, parents, and siblings and is survived by Bob / Jan (Annie, Julia, Scott), Don / Carolyn, and Dina (Bela, Ines). His grandchildren already dearly miss hearing him share stories of his life, from chewing gum tulips to his wish for a red wagon, to pizza fritta for breakfast, and the way his eyes lit up and he expressed himself with gestures. The intergenerational friendship and closeness they enjoyed with him is one of the biggest joys of their lives.
Sal’s ashes were laid to rest next to Anne’s at Saint Mary Cemetery. A celebration of life memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, May 14th at 11am at Saint Michael Church in Greenwich. Castiglione Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
A very special thanks to Doctors Jim Brunetti, Frank Walsh and Chris Howes for their years of care and support. We truly thank Erika as well as the entire staff of the Short-Term Rehabilitation Center / The Nathaniel Witherell for their loving and professional care of Sal.

Lynn was always thought of as loving and caring and took pride in spoiling her dog Webber, bird Willie, grand-dog Sadie, grand-cats Freya and Binx, as well as both of her grandchildren. She always made sure no one left the house with an empty stomach and was known for her spicy chili, stuffed mushrooms and quiche. Whether it was her purple hair or bubbly personality, she lit up a room and will be missed by all.
Lynn is survived by her husband Robert “Bob” Curcio, son BJ (Stephanie), daughters Kelly (Mark) McCabe and Katie, grandchildren Kai and Harley, and brother Barry (Linda) Angeley, along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Eugene Angeley, and Mary Jane (James) Aylward, and brother Eugene “Euge”.
The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Chen and the Doctors and Nurses of Yale New Haven Hospital for their professional and loving care over the last few months.
