Obituary Preview: Faye L. Roy, age 76, of Alliance, went to be with her Heavenly Father at 10:04 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2022.
She was born on August 3, 1945 in Hendricks, West Virginia to Ward and Grace (Mason) Tenney.
Faye received her GED from Marlington High School along with her loving sister, Rhoda Miller. She worked at Tucke Community Hospital and Dorman Mills, both in Parsons, West Virginia before becoming a housewife and caregiver to many people.  She loved blindly and always put others needs ahead of her own. Faye was a member of Independent Baptist Church in Alliance.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jessie (Donnie) Maggard; her grandson, Justin (Kelly) Maggard; great granddaughters, Sophia and Elaina Maggard; siblings, Nedra Jean (Eldon) Collins, Jerry (Nina) Tenney, Kay Workman, Linda Reily, Barbara (Ronnie) Collins, Tom (Carla) Tenney, Chuck (Kay) Tenney, Rodney Tenney, Letha Acerni; loving “O” sister, Beverly Price and many “O” daughters and “O” sons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald M. Roy; sister, Rhoda Miller.
Visitation will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Tuesday April 26 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday April 27 at 11a.m. with an hour of visitation prior to the service.  Brothers Jim Owens, Keith Kiser and Mike Middleton will officiate.  Faye will be laid to rest at Alliance City Cemetery.

She was born on November 1, 1945 in Ridley, Tennessee to H.B. and Helen Edwards.
Helen was a retired housekeeper at Mount Union College. She loved bingo, playing cards and cooking; but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was born on May 20, 1947 in Alliance to Delbert and Twila Minger.
Sandra graduated from Alliance High School. She worked as a hair dresser and salon owner for more than 20 years. She also worked as a waitress in the Alliance area. Sandra enjoyed spending time with her family and visiting Las Vegas to spend summers with her grandchildren. She would spend Friday nights at the bowling alley where she made many friends. Sandra also liked to do word puzzles and crochet blankets.
She is survived by her son, David (Shelly) Moore; two grandchildren, Rena and Dartin Moore; sisters, Debbie (Rodney) Hodgekin, Donna (Rick) Anderson, and Christine Harton; her brother Brent (Tammy) Minger; nieces and nephews, Stacy Minger, Jennifer (Ashley) Boulton, Brent (Chris) Minger, Eric Anderson, Chad Harton, Kenny Anderson, Josh (Victoria) Harton and Britteny (Brad) Houck; and many great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, David Jennings Moore; her brother, David Minger; and her sister-in-law, Ellen Minger.

Lorice graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelors and Masters in Education. She taught 6th and 7th grade at Austintown Schools. Lorice was also a certified American Red Cross water safety instructor.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Diane “Tina” Scipione, Kathleen Scipione and Jill (James) Pustorino; her son, Mario Mark (Anna) Scipione; six grandchildren, Annie (Dominic), Judd (Laura), Evan (Alexis), Brynn, Michael and Joseph; nine great-grandchildren, Mario, Lila, Enzo, Silvio, Evan, Emma, Adalee, Carter and Lucy; four sisters, Nancy Lamielle, Patricia Lambert, Rhoda Wurgler and Judy Godsey; two brothers, Marvin and David (Mary Lou) Godsey; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mario Joseph Scipione; her brother, Clyde Godsey; sister, Elsie Mehnert; brothers-in-law, Karl Wurgler, Paul Mehnert, Nelson Lambert, and Ted Lamielle; sister-in-law, Judy Godsey; and son-in-law, Mick Dillinger.
A visitation will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 26th from 12:00-2:00 p.m. The family asks that those attending please wear a mask. Interment will follow at Alliance City Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.

He was born on January 9, 1948 in Alliance to John and Martha (Lare) Salaski.
John graduated from Alliance High School in 1966 and went on to work for Transue & Williams, and later the United States Postal Service where he was employed for 25 years until his retirement. He served honorably in the United States Army and was stationed in Vietnam. John loved collecting baseball cards, comic books, movies, video games and many other things. He also liked to play softball and basketball, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Darrell L. (Trish) Salaski, Cindy L. Salaski, David G. (Kathy) Salaski, and Joanne J. (Brian) Hoffman; nieces, Zana R. (Garrett) Fisher and Chassidy R. Salaski; nephew, Dillon R. Salaski; great-nieces, Hailee Fisher and Addison Ward; great-nephew, Caleb Fisher; and many cousins.

Betty L. Lytle - April 23, 1929 - April 17, 2022

Obituary Preview: Betty L. (Thal) Lytle of Sebring passed away at Aultman Alliance Community Hospital on April 17, 2022.  Betty was born in Alliance Ohio, April 23, 1929, the daughter of Transylvanian Saxon immigrants Anna (Schuster) and George Thal; she was proud of her Saxon heritage.
Betty graduated from Alliance High School in 1947 and then attended the University of Akron at City Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1950. Betty was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alliance. She married Richard Lytle in 1951, had three daughters, Sue, Pricilla and Patricia, then divorced in 1969.
Betty always enjoyed the time she spent with her daughters on the farm where she raised them. She was proud of their accomplishments in school and in other activities such as horse 4-H and showing horses, competitive swimming and cheerleading.
Betty was a member of the Alliance Woman’s Club where she enjoyed playing bridge with her friends as well as several bridge clubs in the homes.
She was also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Franklin, OH, Alliance Transylvanian Saxon Ladies’ Lodge, and Alumni Association of her nursing school. Betty was a long-time volunteer with the American Red Cross Bloodmobile and YWCA Well Child Clinics.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William Thal; and a sister, Gertrude Gilgis.
Survivors include her daughters Sue “Leslie” Lytle of Tennessee, Pricilla “Sally” Lytle of Paris OH, and Patricia “Patty” Lytle of Alliance. In addition, Betty leaves behind three grandchildren, Christopher and Abram Morris, both of Tennessee, Madison Lytle of North Carolina and several great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 16495 Lisbon Street NE, Minerva, OH 44657 or Stark County Humane Society, 5100 Peach St., Louisville, OH 44641.  Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

She was born on January 21, 1935 in Youngstown to Martin and Veronica Marie (Kotich) Thellman and lived in Struthers at a young age before the family moved to Alliance.
Joanne was a 1953 graduate of Alliance High School. She began work at B&W Tube in Alliance and retired after 35 years in 1988 from her position in the accounting department as a secretary. Joanne met Gene and they were married for 41 years. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alliance. Joanne liked the outdoors and her walks in Silver Park. She enjoyed car shows and the Cleveland Auto Show. Joanne also enjoyed road trips to Virginia, Myrtle Beach, Nashville, Hershey Park and the bus trip to Disney World. Through the years, she had many friends, but the two she mostly talked to were her good friends Gisela and Marilyn.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gene; her brother, James K. (Jackie) Thellman; Janet and Paul Predagovic; step-daughter, Laura L. Venables; Smith and Bailey; and two great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her niece, Treva.
Per Joanne’s wishes, there will be no services.

He was born on May 31, 1976 in Moreno Valley, California to the late Mary (Jovingo) Luttrell and Steve Phillips.
Brian worked at Ecomm LLC Online. He was a very straight forward man, but could always make you laugh. Brian will always be remembered as a loving son, fiancé, brother and grandfather. He always helped his step-daughter and grandson see what to be thankful for, to think of the happiest moments, to create fun, and to live life to the fullest.
Those left to cherish his memory are his fiancé, Theresa Kedowski; his brothers, Steve Phillips Jr., Anthony Phillips, Chris Dages and Cody Phillips; step-children, Patrick Smith and Cassandra Burns; and grandson, Alan Miller.

He was born May 5, 1941 in Cambridge, Ohio to Joseph C. and M. Marjorie (Flood) Atkinson.
A graduate of Canton McKinley High School, Ken retired after a lengthy career as a Carpenter. He was a member of Carpenter Local Union 69.
Ken and his late wife Carole were members of Grace United Methodist Church. They enjoyed the outdoors and traveling, especially to New England.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, Ken and Carole were avid animal lovers and participated in agility training and shows with their dogs, Sammie and Summer for many years.
Ken and Carole loved watching their sons and grandsons play soccer.
Ken will be missed by his sons, Kolin (Teresa) Atkinson, and Justin (Tiffany) Atkinson; grandsons, Troy and Shane, and sister, Joy (Rick) Monostra.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Carole L. (Saunders), who passed away four days earlier, and his brother, Curt.
Ken and Carole will be laid to rest together in a private graveside service at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, in Rittman, Ohio.

A member of Grace United Methodist Church, Carole loved being outside and traveling with her husband, especially to New England.
Avid animal lovers, Carole and Ken participated in agility training and shows with their dogs, Sammie and Summer for many years. Carole enjoyed listening to Barbra Streisand, but especially loved watching her sons and grandsons play soccer.
Carole will be missed by her family, including her husband of 54 years, Kenneth “Ken” Atkinson; sons, Kolin (Teresa) Atkinson, and Justin (Tiffany) Atkinson; and grandsons, Troy and Shane.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Kerry Saunders.

Charles "Chas" Winner - February 08, 1956 - April 08, 2022

Obituary Preview: Charles E. “Chas” Winner, age 66, of Minerva, passed away at 12:16 a.m. Friday April 8, 2022 at the Cleveland Clinic.
Charlie was born February 8, 1956 in Alliance, Ohio to Edward C. and Ruth Evelyn (Lowmiller) Winner.
A 1974 graduate of Alliance High School, Charlie owned C&W Construction, installing commercial playgrounds for more than 30 years. His passion for the outdoors led him to owning and operating Hedgerow Game Birds where he provided game birds to many throughout the Eastern United States.  He loved hunting, fishing and gardening with his family and friends.
Charlie was a kind and generous person whose personality and work ethic influenced many. He was a firm believer in donating his time completing projects large and small for the Alliance Aviators. He loved supporting the Aviator Sports Boosters by helping maintain sports fields and installing sprinkler systems and drainage systems, to name a few. In 2003, Charlie built the interior wrestling room, which is still considered one of the best in the area today. His devotion to all sports led him to be the recipient of the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s State Award.
Charlie was proud to be able to complete an important bucket list item by building his daughter Hannah’s house with his son-in-law, Chase, and with the help of family and friends. He truly led by example, and his memory will live on through his wife, children, grandchildren and the many others that held him dear.  His infectious smile will never be forgotten.
Charlie leaves his large and loving family who will miss him deeply, including his wife Cindy (Twyman) Winner, whom he married August 8, 1980; sons, Dennis Z. (Allie) Winner, Joshua C. (Shaena R.) Winner, daughter, Hannah R. (Chase) Melaragno; grandchildren, Dennis, Raelyn, Ezabel, Reese, Harper, Quinn, and one on the way; sisters, Patricia A. (D. Stephen) Stone, Ruth Eva (David ) Williams, and Katie (John) Weitzel; and many nieces and nephews.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents.
A time for visitation and sharing memories will be held from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. In honor of Charlie’s dedication to AHS, in lieu of flowers, he would prefer donations be made to Aviator Sports Boosters, 400 Glamorgan St. Alliance, Ohio 44601

Obituary Preview: Zachary “Zakk” Dunn, age 25, a lifelong resident of Alliance, was taken from us by an unknown and undiagnosed heart condition on April 5, 2022.
Zakk was born August 22, 1996 in Alliance. He is survived by his parents Gregg and Karen; his brother, Eric; his wife of   just six month, Caitlin; his grandmother, Kathy; his aunts, uncles and cousins; his best friend, T.J.; and  his special buddies, Teddy and Cooper.
Zakk enjoyed being out in nature. He loved football, especially the Indianapolis Colts and the South Carolina Game Cocks. He really loved his music and sitting on the porch in the summer listening to it. He had a special fascination for the weather and recently started a career path to make it his life’s work.
Zakk was taken from us far too young and we will all miss him greatly. Zakk would tell everyone to live life to the fullest, love deeply, and never give up on your dreams.
A graveside service will be held at Alliance City Cemetery on Wednesday, April 13th at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Timothy Muse officiating.

He was born on March 26, 1952 in Alliance, OH to Donald and Helen (Zimmerman) Bourne.
Mickey graduated from Alliance High School. He worked as an auto mechanic for over 30 years at Broadway Iron and Metal where he retired. His love for fishing on Lake Erie and riding ATV’s was his passion. Most of all, spending time with his family is what he treasured the most.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Debbie Bourne whom he married on January 6, 1973, spending 49 years together; his two sons Chad (Briana) Bourne and Michael Bourne; a sister Diana (Gary) Tschantz; grandsons Elliot and Elias; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Keith Bourne.
On behalf of Mickey’s wishes there will be no services.

Obituary Preview: Mona J. Floor, born July 5, 1931, passed away at home on April 1, 2022, at the age of 90 ¾, surrounded by her loving family.
Born “Monnie” Binion but loved all her life as Mona, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Ross Floor, in 2001; also preceded by her father, Lee Binion; her mother, Mary Bradley Binion; 4 brothers; and 2 sisters.
Mona graduated in 1951 from Wellston High School in Wellston, OH, but lived most of her life in Sebring, OH, moving to Newark, OH in 2016 to be near her sister.
Mona was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Granville, was a member of the Heart of Ohio Quilt Guild, lovingly referred to as “Quilt Cult” by many family members and was active in a Euchre group with many lady friends. Her quilting group has been active in making “Quilts of Valor” for U.S. Service Personnel, sending them all over the world! Her hidden talent was that she was an amazing artist – painting many gifts for family and friends. She was also an awesome baker, making numerous wedding cakes for family and friends over the years and she made a killer coconut cream pie! Throughout her life she loved to travel and took family camping trips all over the USA when her kids were young. Then later in life, in her 70s, she became a world traveler! She visited amazing places including Switzerland, Austria, Central America and many Caribbean Islands. In 2018 at the age of 86 she went on a “Quilting Cruise” with her sisters. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all that knew and loved her. And under the quilts that she lovingly sewed and shared with so many!
Mona is survived by her son, James (Melissa) Floor of Fort Worth Texas and their family, Don, Brandee, William, Tristen, Hunter and Sarah; her daughter, Sharon (Greg) Lewis of Lynchburg, VA; her beloved granddaughter, Amanda O’Neill of Ragersville, OH;  her sisters, Rosa Helfer of Newark, OH and Barbara Witzel of Clover, SC; and “Oodles” of nieces and nephews, great & great-greats spanning five generations, including her niece, Denise Haley of Nashville, TN who cared for her the last few weeks of her life.
A private graveside service will be held.

She was a member of Bethel United Presbyterian Church in Salineville.
Joyce will be missed by her family, including her brother, Frank L. McIntosh II; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth (Meghan) Wilson, John (Jessica) McIntosh, Lisa (Josh) Luli, Erica (Eric) Neiheisel, Emily (Tyler) Leitza, and Abby (Aaron) Burd.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Christine (McIntosh) Koontz; brother and sister in law, Scott and Linda (Crawford) McIntosh; and niece, Amanda Koontz.
Per Joyce’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held, with burial at Bethel United Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Salineville, Ohio.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, including her husband, Wayne Wallace; her mother; daughter, Emily (Brian) Deack; granddaughter, Nora Deack of Beloit; and sister, Diane Johansson of California.
She was preceded in death by her father and her brother, David Magnacca.

She is survived by her two sons, Eric Syme and Kirk (Vickey) Syme of Alliance; her two daughters, Leslie (Steve) Miller of San Antonio, TX and Kristin Broughton of Maple Valley, WA; nine grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Alton “Dewey” Syme in December 2014; her sister Donna Wynn in December 2020; and her daughter-in-law Cyndi Syme in November 2020.

He was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church where he served on session. Richard was also a life member of BPOE #467 in Alliance. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Richard enjoyed doing home improvement projects, working in the yard and walking his beloved dog, Bella.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janet (Damiani) Schuh, whom he married July 2, 1977; his son, Jeremy (Rebecca) Schuh; daughter, Kristen (Amit) Tyagi; granddaughter, Nora; one niece; one nephew; two great-nieces; and one great-nephew.
