Devoted to her family and her faithWATERBURY - Liduvina Albizu, 83, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on May 13, 2022 in the comfort of her home in Waterbury, CT. She was born on March 18, 1939 in Cayey , Puerto Rico to the late Gregorio Estien and Juana Flores. In 1959, she married Pedro Albizu. A unique soul, Liduvina was funny and enjoyed baseball, loved cooking, singing,playing music and was devoted to God. Liduvina will be greatly missed by al lwho were blessed to know and love her. Left to cherish her memory and cherish her legacy are her children; Pedro Jr., Carlos Albizu and his wife Magaly, Ana White and her husband, Herbert White,and her sister Ramonita Flores. Liduvina had 7 grandchildren; Peter Albizu, Jonathan Albizu, Andrew Melendez, Carlos Albizu jr., Dominique Albizu, Danzel White, Karla White and Madison Albizu. She also had 2 great grandchildren Grayson Melendez and Leo Albizu. Funeral services for Mrs Albizu will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 10:00 a.m at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St Waterbury CT. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with the Albizu family on Tuesday evening, May 17, 2022 from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial service will be organized by Casey Funeral Home located at 1581 E Main St, Waterbury, CT 06705 on May 17,2022 at 6pm - 8 pm. Burial services will be on Wednesday May 18, 2022 at 10am. Daniel was born October 1, 1966, in Waterbury the son of the late Albert and Jacqueline (Bridschge) Bellemare. The youngest of 7 children, he attended Wolcott schools and went on to become an ironworker and talented carpenter. He was a loving father and brother and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him. Dan had a huge heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. Sadly, he quickly passed from an apparent heart attack. Dan loved cooking, Harley Davidson motorcycles, heavy metal music, animals, bonfires, the outdoors, and being with family and friends. Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy are his children; Lauren Bellemare of NC, Robert (Bobby) Bellemare of Hamden, and Rachael Bellemare of Wolcott. He also leaves his siblings; Ellen Talbot (Michael) of Oxford, Jacqueline Dawiczyk of Wolcott, William Bellemare of NC, Judith Bellemare, Diane Garafola (Dennis) and Lois Bellemare all of Wolcott and many nieces, nephews and so many friends; and best friend, Cheryl Pecha. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Wendy. She was raised in North Carolina and moved to Connecticut in her early 20s, where she attended Mattatuck Community College and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Central Connecticut State University. Rosa spent many years working as an RN at Saint Mary’s Hospital. Rose lived a blessed life and was always there to help her family. She loved to travel and was a long-time member of Zion Baptist Church in Waterbury. Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her children; Jeffrey Haynes of Waterbury and April Valeta Hightower of Waterbury. She also leaves her brothers; Norfleet G. Freeman of San Diego, Thomas E. Freeman of Waterbury, and Richie D. Freeman of Waterbury. Rosa was blessed with seven grandchildren, Shante, Kevin Jr. Kyle, Jannelle, Jada, Savannah, and Alana, as well as five great-grandchildren and also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Jason Haynes and her brothers; Malachi Jr and Ulysses Grant Freeman. Obituary Preview: Honoring and Remembering the life of Susan Lee DiGioia“Paraprofessional for Driggs School” WOLCOTT- Susan Lee DiGioia, age 55, of Wolcott, passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, May 6th, 2022, after a courageous four year battle with cancer. Susan was born September 28th, 1966, in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of Joan (Byron) DiGioia and the late Leo DiGioia. Susan was raised in Wolcott, where she attended local schools. She attended Saint Joseph’s College, where she earned her degree in special education and received her Master’s degree in education from Southern Connecticut State University. Susan was the former supervisor of the latch key program at Wakelee elementary in Wolcott and was currently working for the City of Waterbury, Board of Education Department as a Paraprofessional at Driggs Elementary. Susan loved to read and knit and spend time in her garden. She was a volunteer EMT for Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance and also worked for AMR. During her high school years, Susan was a competitive athlete, lettering in many sporting groups. She was a die-hard, Boston Red Sox fan and UCONN Women’s Basketball fan and enjoyed spending time at the beach but was always happiest while surrounded by her family. Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory, besides her mother, are her son, Matthew DiGioia and his girlfriend, Erica Mota of Bristol, her brother, Peter DiGioia and his wife, Diane of Higganum, her sisters; Diane Belanger and her husband, Thomas of Thomaston, Joyce Konopelski, and her husband, David and Kathleen Downey, all of Wolcott. She also leaves her fur grandbaby, Sasha and several nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and many friends. She was predeceased by her father, Leo and brother, Stephen DiGioia. The family would like to also thank Eva Barstis, for always being there, and offering a helping hand when things got tough. Also a big thank you anyone else who was there to help Ms. DiGioia through her battle with cancer. What Garry loved the most was spending time with his beloved dog, Daisy Duke and their adventures to Hamilton Park every morning. Muriel was an avid reader, loved knitting, never missed a good bingo game, and always looked forward to her many trips to Disneyworld. What was most important to Muriel was her family, especially her three boys. Muriel loved traveling with her friends and family, especially to see her grandchildren. Muriel lived life to the fullest blessed by her faith, family, and friends. Muriel was a retired office administrator and previously served as an assistant religious education director of St. Margaret Mary’s Church in Shelton for many years. Muriel will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her sons, Francis Monahan of Naugatuck, William and his wife Erin of Boston and Quinn and his wife Wendy of Southbury, her three grandchildren Margaret, Meghan, and Cecilia. Muriel is also survived by Robert and Roberta Feiman of Florida along with many cousins. Antonio was born October 7th, 1982 in Waterbury, CT the son of Antonio Marques Sr and Joanne (Snow) Marques. Antonio grew up in Waterbury and was in a near-fatal car accident that left him paralyzed at the age of 20. He spent one year and five months rehabbing at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain where he eventually became an employee of the hospital. Antonio was a spiritual man of God, and attended Evangelistic Caravan Center Ministries of North Main Street, Waterbury, attended evangelistic care ministries on North Main St, in Waterbury, where he has been serving at the church as an ordained elder. Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, beside his parents, are his sister; Melissa Marques-Mediavilla, and her husband Joshua Mediavilla, and their children nephews Roberto, Isaiah, Josh Jr, Gabriel, and Joseph, as well as nieces Sophia and Morgana. He also leaves his former wife Ebony Dunning. Casagrande, 89, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of Saint Mary’s Hospital on Thursday, April 28th, 2022, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after an extended illness. Ray was born on December 7th, 1932, in Chiavari, Italy, the son of the late Antonio and Alice (Cavagnaro) Casagrande. Ray was raised and educated in Italy and proudly served with the Italian Military, and was a member of the Italian Soccer League, where he played division league soccer. Ray emigrated to the United States in his early 30s, settling in Waterbury, where he was proud to be the owner of several area restaurants, including The Court Lunch, Glady’s Kitchen, Greenview Coffee Shop, and Francesca’s Luncheon and Catering. After retiring from the restaurant industry in the mid-’90s, Ray began working for the City of Waterbury as a food service manager and school and faculty event coordinator during which time he catered and facilitated all of the city’s big events. He also served as a City Constable for many years during this time. He did this until the young age of 82, when he finally decided to retire permanently. Ray loved to cook for his family, especially traditional Italian dishes; he was never one to have idle hands. If he wasn’t working, he could always be found around the house, tending to his garden, at the beach, restoring classic Italian cars, and spending time with his grandchildren. Ray was also an avid animal lover and loved to spoil his dogs. Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his children; Raymond Casagrande Jr and his wife, Jennifer of Newtown, CT, Francesca Corona, and her husband, Sebastian of Naugatuck, and his former wife, Donna Hickey and her husband, Wayne of Winsted and their son, Jason. Ray was blessed with six grandchildren who he loved to spend time with and mentor; Stephen, Matthew, Alex, Eric, Evan, and Rachel, as well as his great-grandson Jack. Ray also leaves behind his nephews, Antony Casagrande and Albert Cantito and their families. He leaves behind his sister, Gaby Rossi of Italy and is preceded in death by his brother Joseph Casagrande, his sisters Gladys Cantito and Esther Casagrande. A Memorial Service for Mr. Casagrande will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services 1987 East Main St Waterbury, CT 06705. He was the long-time companion of Mayra Hernandez.Donald was born on May 13th 1968 in Waterbury CT the son of Mamie (Boone) Cardoza and the late Donald J. Cardoza Sr. He was a graduate of Crosby High School and worked as a repair technician for Envipco Manufacturing until his disability. Prior to this, he spent several years working for the city of Waterbury Education Department as a custodian at Bucks Hill School. Donald loved to cook especially for his family and grandchildren and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He also enjoyed music and dancing and was always happiest while spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Donald will be remembered as a fighter and as a man who was always able to beat the odds. Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory beside his long-time companion Mayra Hernandez of 29 years he leaves his sons Donald J. Cardoza III, Javier Hernandez, Alex Hernandez, his daughters Dontia Ladawn Cardoza, Nicole Hernandez, Diomara Hernandez all of Waterbury. He also leaves his twin brother Ronald L. Cardoza, his brother Reginald Boone and his wife Annette, his sister Vanessa Cardoza and her husband Alan, and Cindy Cardoza and her husband Stacey all of Waterbury. Donald was blessed with 10 grandchildren whom he loved dearly as well as a host of nieces and nephews.A celebration of Life for Mr. Cardoza will be held on Friday, May 6th, 2022 at 3:30 pm at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services 1987 East Main St Waterbury, Ct 06705. While John was serving his country during WW II as a naval medic, Eleanor traveled to Los Angeles while he was on leave to marry him. As a young secretarial graduate, she worked at the American Brass Company until John returned home. Shortly after his return they decided to have a family. At that point she stayed home to raise their family. As her two young girls grew, Eleanor rejoined the labor force as an administrative assistant at Tinker School, a position that she held for 30 years. Eleanor kept busy with her “card group”, Ladies Guild and became a Girls Scout leader for many years. She and John were parishioners of Blessed Sacrament Church and were proud Waterburians. Eleanor leaves behind her daughter, Joan McNamara Jannelli, two granddaughters, Erica Jannelli and Elizabeth Bannon Mack along with a great grandson, Jamie Mack. She is pre-deceased by her daughter Judith McNamara Bannon and her two brothers Harold and Richard Coleman.

Dolores enjoyed a long and full life and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her nieces, Susan Ouellette, and Carol Bonenfant of Wolcott, as well as many great nieces and great nephews and cousins Natalie, Ann Marie, Carol, John, and extended family members.
