Alfred Chester Derosier - July 29, 1958 - March 02, 2024

Departed: 03/02/2024 (Klamath Falls)
Obituary Preview: Alfred Chester Derosier “Big Al” to many and Dad to many others. Our father left this world and ascended to the heavens; he was reunited with his mother Claire and brother Michael on March 2, 2024 at 5:30 in the evening from multiple health complications. He will be dearly missed and will leave an empty space in the hearts of his family, friends and everyone who was dear to him. Dad always enjoyed being outside camping, fishing or snowmobiling or tinkering in his woodshop building all sorts of beautiful things. He would always be looking for the next priceless artifact at any yard sale he could find, usually random knick-knacks, but he loved to haggle so yard sales suited him. He spent most of his life in sales, one of the few people who could say he actually used to sell door to door. He prided himself on being able to sell anything to anyone. He was a kind, loving person who could connect with people usually with a firm handshake and a welcoming smile along with a joke or two. I think that's why people were drawn to him. He leaves behind his wife Carol, eldest son Alfred, daughter Vannessa and her husband Zack, and his youngest son Joshua and his wife Stephanie, his father Alfred, his older brother Kurth, his wife Denise, his younger sister Donna, and his five grandchildren whom he loved so much, and many others who loved and cared deeply for him.

Departed: 02/15/2024 (Klamath Falls)
Obituary Preview: Klamath Falls resident Bertha Lee Fritz passed away on February 15, 2024, at the age of 87. She was born in Friona, Texas on February 26, 1936, as her parents moved their family of 9 (and then 10) from
Waynoka, Oklahoma, to Ashland, Oregon. At 15, Bert moved to Sparks, Nevada, to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Leta and Ira Ott, and their four daughters, whom she viewed more like daughters than nieces. While enrolled at Sparks High School, Bert met John Leland Fritz. The two fell in love and got married, spending the next 39 years together until John passed. They had four children: Elisa, Scot, Laura, and Amy. The family lived in the
Reno/Sparks, Nevada area until 1972. They then purchased a large family farm in Macdoel, California. This move made them farming neighbors with the Ott family. The Fritz family lived there for 18 years,
running a 1,200 acre farm. They produced grain, alfalfa, and a prized herd of Registered Polled Herefords. Bert was a dedicated mother, housewife, and ranch hand. Despite her busy schedule, she still found time
to pursue her love of flower gardening.
Bert went on to move to Klamath Falls where she purchased her own home near some of her children. She worked for the City of Klamath for several years before retiring in 2006. In retirement, she began volunteering at the local medical center as a member of the Hospital Guild where she established many friendships. She was still passionate about gardening and took great pride in caring for her yard all
summer long. Bert is survived by three of her children (Scot Fritz and his wife Kelley, Laura La Brie, and Amy Fritz) and four grandchildren (Zach, McKenna, Cole, and Kylie). Bert was preceded in death by her parents, seven
siblings, husband John, and daughter Elisa Olson. The family wishes to thank the Pacifica Assisted Living staff for their incredible care over the last 4 years, with special acknowledgment for the compassion shown in her final days with them. They would also
like to express sincere appreciation for Klamath Hospice and their support.
A memorial gathering will take place on March 16, 2024 at Lakeview Cemetary in Macdoel, California.

Jean Olive Lundgren - February 26, 1946 - February 07, 2024

Departed: 02/07/2024 (Klamath Falls)
Obituary Preview: Jean Olive (Longwell) Lundgren, 77, passed away on February 7, 2024, at Marquis Plum Ridge in Klamath Falls, Oregon, after being diagnosed with advanced metastatic cancer in June 2023.
Jean Longwell was born on February 26, 1946, at the Naval Ordnance Test Station (NOTS) at China Lake, in California’s Mojave Desert, to Paul Alan Longwell and Edith Olive Blackley. After the war, her family moved back to the Pasadena area, where she graduated from San Gabriel High School.
Jean always planned to be a doctor. She studied microbiology at the University of California, Riverside, married Alston Lundgren in 1966, and graduated with her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1967. She deferred her med-school dream after her marriage, working instead as a systems engineer for IBM for many years at a variety of locations, ultimately ending up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She studied medicine at the University of Minnesota, graduating with her M.D. in 1980 before completing her family-practice residency at Methodist Hospital in the Twin Cities area. Jean practiced medicine for over 30 years at a variety of clinics, including Eden Prairie Family Physicians, which she founded and operated with then-husband Alston. She moved back to California in the early 2000s to tend her ailing parents and was able to pursue another deferred dream: operating a mobile clinic for undocumented Californians, even when it meant facing down militiamen who accosted her clinic in the California back country. One of her mottos, which she shared with her many medical providers after her surprise cancer diagnosis in 2023, was, “Listen to your patients.”
Jean fully retired in 2010 and moved to Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast, where she lived until her cancer diagnosis brought her to be near her daughter’s family in Klamath Falls. During her retirement, Jean traveled widely, both abroad and domestically. One of her favorite destinations was Yellowstone National Park. She was devoted to her many friends, some lifelong, with whom she enjoyed traveling, corresponding, laughing, and drinking champagne.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Edith, and her brother, James Longwell. She is survived by her children, Poul (Rachel) of Salem and Kari (Jessamyn) of Klamath Falls, along with her grandchildren and stepgrandchild. A celebration of life with family and friends will happen this spring.

When she was in Arizona for cancer treatment, Tammy would meet up with friends and relatives to visit and vacation. She was always talking to and lifting up other cancer patients while she was there. She took her three adult children on a road trip to California where they grew up and spent a week reminiscing, enjoying great food, sandy beaches and beautiful sunsets. She and David traveled to the Bahamas to watch David’s daughter, Deanna, marry her love, Adam, and later to New Jersey to meet their grandson, Wyatt. Tammy’s smile lit up the world when she talked about all of her grandchildren, especially her great-granddaughter, Nylea. Three years ago she and her sister, Kat Larson, decided it was long overdue to get their brother, Larry Charlesworth, all their kids, cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren together for a family reunion and the annual reunion was born out of love. This legacy will continue on with great food, games, prizes, costume contests, t-shirts, swimming, boating and so much more.
Tammy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Darwin Charlesworth. She is survived by her husband, David Salcedo, children and spouses: Aaron Thomas & Alethea Andreatta; Ashley & Chris Sandoe; Kyle & Tasha Zutter; Caitlin Gray; Deanna & Adam Dayson; grandchildren: Reaha, Kohen and Marley Thomas; Connor Jackson and Dean Sandoe; Zade and Kyron Zutter; Liz Stone; Wyatt Dayson; great granddaughter: Nylea Thomas; siblings and spouses: Larry & Alice Charlesworth; Kat & Stan Larson; nieces and nephews: Holly & Ken Kennedy; Tyler & Marissa Larson; Elyse Charlesworth & Jordan Anderson; Mitchel & Angel Charlesworth; and so many special friends that she loved. Her smile was ever present. Tammy was truly loved by all that knew her; she will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be at 4:00pm on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023 at New Horizon Christian Fellowship, 1909 Homedale Road in Klamath Falls. A reception will follow the service there.

Robert Kandra, Sr. - March 26, 1940 - September 30, 2023

Departed: 09/30/2023 (Klamath Falls)
Obituary Preview: Robert William Kandra Sr. (1940- 2023)
Robert William Kandra, Sr.,83, of Klamath Falls, Oregon, who was cordially known as Bob, to the basin community, passed away peacefully at a quarter to midnight on September 30, 2023. Bob’s full life led him to be a respected leader and organizer in many facets of the small town of Tulelake, California. His spirit to roll up his sleeves and pitch-in took him from a volunteer baseball coach of peewees, minors and major teams to a Kiwanis Club President, an organizer on the Tulelake 4th of July Committee, and a volunteer firefighter for the town. Bob was born in Merrill, Oregon on March 26, 1940, to the second generation of the Tulelake farming family of William Valentine Kandra, his wife Betty Jane (Bagent) Kandra, and a 2-year older sister Carol Ann Kandra. The Kandra’s’ were part of the historic Great Immigration, to America, during (1870-1920), where over one million citizens of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, migrated to the United States, in search of agricultural lands, to replace the ones they were losing in the “Old County.”
Some of Bob’s early years from 1944 to 1946, as a boy of 4 to 6 years old, were pivotal moments in our US History. Bob would talk story of how he would ride along with his father William to Camp Tulelake, where they housed 800 German POWs, that the Tulelake Grower’s Association petitioned the US Government to send, to help with local farming. These German Soldiers were allowed to travel in the area freely, so Bob, with his father, would go to the camp every morning, to pick up the soldiers, to help the Kandra’s during the harvest season.
Bob became a true sportsman as a young teenager and developed his love of hunting and fishing with the help of his mother Betty. Bob would often share how, “back in the day” his father would be so busy farming, that it was his mother that was his hunting partner. When reminiscing, Bob would describe his mother as beautiful, brave, bold and always the life, love and laughter of the Kandra home. There was always a tear in Bob’s eye, with the memory of his mother’s passing, when he was only 18 years of age.
In 1960, at the age of twenty, Bob married Carol Gordon. They shared 15 years together and gave life to 4 children and together they were blessed with 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. It gave Bob great joy to watch his children and grandchildren excel in sports. Bob tried to attend as many games and practices as he could. Bob also was a great athlete himself. He loved baseball, golfing, could cut a rug with his dance moves and was well known for his bowling tournament three hundred game scores, which came with a ring, a jacket, and a great bowling reputation.
Growing up in Tulelake gave Bob the knowledge of agriculture. His employment was always centered around working outdoors and working in supportive farming positions with companies such as Ezell Fuel and LK Produce. Bob’s love for the outdoors and gardening predicated his final maintenance position, with the Klamath Falls Fairgrounds, from which he retired.
