Mark Stocking - September 14, 1980 - April 10, 2024

Departed: 04/10/2024 (Green Castle )
Obituary Preview: Mark Wesley Stocking a beloved little brother, son and friend passed away on April 10, 2024 in Kirksville Missouri. He was born on September 14, 1980 in Waynesville, Missouri to Richard L. Stocking Sr. and Barbara A. Stocking. Mark was welcomed into our family when he was 3 months old and we were able to adopt him shortly after he turned one. He was a curious child but was not an easy child. He grew up with anxiety and depression and was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He struggled with a lot of things in life that most people take for granted. He was never quite sure of himself or where he fit in but he was ours and we were his. We loved him and fought with him and for him for most of his short life. He was funny and had a quick wit about him. He was smarter than he realized and only had a couple of hours left in getting his Associates Degree in Computer Technology. He liked growing sunflowers for his Mom and gardening. He liked coffee in the mornings with his family. He sometimes was not an easy person to love. We loved him anyway. Mark was a cantankerous individual who would rather burn the bridge instead of fix it and he burned his fair share of them, some he burned multiple times. We loved him anyway. It wasn’t easy but it was worth it. He will be remembered and loved for the rest of our lives. Mark is survived by his best friend Angela Russell of Virginia Beach Virginia, his brother Stephen W. Stocking and his wife Sharon and his sister Rhonda L. Anno and her husband Larry. He was preceded in death by his Father, Richard L. Stocking Sr, his Mother, Barbara A. Stocking, and his older brother, Richard L. Stocking Jr. Services will be held at a later date in Albany Georgia.

Brenda was born on December 4, 1958, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Margaret (Galloway) Austin. Brenda was the youngest of three sisters. She had quite a few adventures with her sisters growing up. She enjoyed riding bikes, fishing, hunting for fresh mushrooms and looking for night crawlers in the Allerton school yard – especially on rainy nights. Brenda faced a great deal of adversity as a child and young adult. She had many struggles that carried into her adulthood. She adored their pets just as if they were her own. Brenda was also close to her sisters and enjoyed spending time with them. Brenda’s friends and sisters brought such joy to each other, no matter what they were doing. Brenda loved Chinese food and enjoyed eating at various Chinese restaurants with family and friends. Hopefully there’s Chinese food in heaven so that Brenda can enjoy it there too.

When Starr didn’t behave, Brenda sent her to her room just like any child needing a time out. Brenda and Starr went on walks, played tug of war, and played fetch. Starr enjoyed being spoiled by Brenda and will greatly miss her.
As Brenda’s illness worsened, her friends and sisters took great care of her – driving her to appointments, running errands and being by her side at her home. Brenda was grateful for the Putnam County hospital nursing staff. They took excellent care of her during her illness.

James "Jim" Jamison - February 19, 1945 - June 28, 2023

Departed: 06/28/2023 (Green Castle )
Obituary Preview: James Ellis Jamison, 78 years old, of rural Winigan, Missouri peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 surrounded by his family after a year-long battle with cancer.
Jim was born in Dayton, Ohio on February 19, 1945 to Norman and Lois (Bauer) Jamison. He was raised in the Pure Air, Missouri community and moved to Green City, Missouri during high school. There, Jim met and fell in love with Carol Lynette Lundstrom, who was his classmate. He became a professing Christian at 17 years old and was baptized at the Winigan Christian Church.
Jim graduated from Green City High School on May 17, 1963 and enlisted in the US Navy on May 29. He returned home from basic training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Illinois to marry Carol on December 22, 1963 at the Winigan Christian Church.
During his 22 years in the Navy, Jim was an Aviation Electronics Command Master Chief. He was stationed in Memphis, Tenessee; Sanford, Florida; Beeville, Texas; Lowery Air Force Base in Colorado; Brunswick, Maine; and Norfolk, Virginia. He completed deployments on Aircraft Carriers USS Saratoga, USS Constellation, USS Forrestal, and the USS Kennedy. Jim spent years traveling the globe during his military career, including crossing the equator and transiting the Suez Canal. But his heart was set on farming. During that time, he also spent 20 years as a mail carrier, servicing the rural routes of Milan, Winigan, New Boston, and Kirksville.
In recent years, Jim has faithfully attended the Winigan Christian Church, where he was an elder emeritus. He has enjoyed retirement, tinkering around on his farm, caring for his cattle, sheep, goats and chickens, attending local Bible study groups, and traveling as a couple with the love of his life. His home feels empty without the ubiquitous shuffling and snapping of his playing cards at the kitchen table.
