A funeral service for Randy will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Community United Methodist Church with Rev. Heidi Farmer officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden, Iowa.
Randy Lee Saunders, son of Harley and Donna (Alexander) Saunders, was born on September 18, 1955, in Boone, Iowa. He graduated from Ogden High School with the class of 1974.
On October 6, 1984, Randy was united in marriage to Tina Wirth at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm southeast of Ogden.
Randy worked as a Conductor at Chicago Northwestern Railroad, later becoming Union Pacific Railroad for almost 40 years until his retirement.
Randy loved fishing, hunting with his son, Christopher, and his other cronies, gardening, mushroom hunting, golfing, and bowling where he had scored a 300 game. He enjoyed his annual fishing trips with his buds to northern Minnesota. Randy’s favorite quote was, “If I can’t fish off of it, I’m not getting on it!!” Randy loved messing around on his John Deere tractor and rooting for the Phillies, the Hawkeyes and the Steelers. He also enjoyed teasing his wife, Tina. But most of all, he enjoyed his family, his son, Christopher, and daughter-in-law, Amelia, and most important to him was his love for his two grandchildren, Riley and Meira.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Survivors include his loving wife, Tina Saunders of Boone; his son, Christopher (Amelia) Saunders of Ogden; grandchildren, Riley and Meira Saunders; two brothers, Neil Saunders and Grant Saunders both of Ogden; two sisters, Brenda Fisher and Teresa (Craig) Davenport both of Ogden; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bonnie Joan Crouch, daughter of Alvin and Loween (Wilson) Crouch, was born on June 9, 1939, in Arion, Iowa. Bonnie received her education thru the eighth grade at Beaver School and graduated from Grand Junction High School with the class of 1957.
On February 16, 1958, Bonnie was united in marriage to Roger Tolsdorf at the Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction, Iowa. To this union two children were born: David and Michele. The couple resided in Beaver and also lived in Scranton for one year before moving to Ogden in 1963 to farm. The couple also owned and operated the Ogden Maid Rite for over 20 years. Bonnie worked for over 30+ years as an office administrator at the Ogden Telephone Company. In her early years, Bonnie operated an in home preschool.
Bonnie was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Ogden where she was active in several church circles including Rachel Circle. She was also a member of Eastern Star. Bonnie enjoyed being outside, camping, her Sunday after church drives with Roger, and working in her garden and flower garden. She also enjoyed wintering in Texas for several years.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Roger; two sisters, Connie Delp and Sandra Carl; and her brother, Lynn Crouch.
Survivors include her son, David (Pamela) Tolsdorf of Ogden; daughter, Michele Tolsdorf also of Ogden; two grandchildren, Joshua and Caitlin Tolsdorf; and four great grandchildren, Evelynn, Paxton, Bryar, and Paisleigh.

Paul (Shorty) Peterson, son of Alfred and Sigrid (Rydman) Peterson was born on February 23, 1927, in Boxholm, Iowa. He received his education in Harcourt and Boxholm, graduating from Boxholm High School in 1945. Shorty served in the U.S. Army during WWII with the Occupation forces in Italy from June 4, 1945 until his honorable discharge on January 31, 1947.
On August 14, 1949, Shorty married Doris LaVonne Ewing in Dayton. The couple resided and farmed south of Boxholm for over 55 years until moving into Boxholm in 2004. Shorty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. He served on the board of directors and was past president of the Westside Apartments and was past president for Boxholm Development. He was involved with the Boone County ASCS and Farmers COOP. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #63 of Boxholm. Shorty volunteered at the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad as a tour guide, announcer for Thomas the Train, and as Santa on the Santa Express. In 2017, Shorty moved to Westhaven Community in Boone.
In addition to his parents, Shorty was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Doris; granddaughter, Olivia; and great grandson, Samuel. He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Clinton, Welden, Fern, and Thelma; parents-in-law, Buryl and Clara; and brothers-in-law, Gayle, Claude, and Harold.
Shorty is survived by his children, Janice and Tim. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Nate, Bethany, and Becca; five great grandchildren, grandson-in-law, Chris and sister-in-law, Marge.

A visitation for Dorothy will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden, Iowa.
Dorothy Elaine Bovey, daughter of Clarence and Maude (Groom) Thompson was born on March 13, 1925 in Ogden, Iowa. Dorothy graduated from Ogden High School with the class of 1943. Following graduation, Dorothy worked at Ogden Telephone for several years as a telephone operator.
On October 24, 1945, Dorothy was married to Wayne Bovey of Pilot Mound. To this union, two children were born, Lynnea and Brian. The couple resided in rural Pilot Mound, where they farmed until 1958, when they purchased Bovey Grocery and Locker in Pilot Mound. They operated the business until Wayne’s death in 1966. Dorothy then continued to work for Pilot Mound grocery and later worked at the Pilot Mound post office. She attended the Pilot Mound United Methodist Church.
Dorothy enjoyed quilting, reading, and crossword puzzles. She also looked forward to Monday morning coffee get-togethers with her friends until she moved to Boone in 2008. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Lynnea (Dale) Hanke of Ankeny, IA; son, Brian (Denette) Bovey of Boone, IA; three grandchildren, Joe Hanke, Marci (Nic) Fontanini, and Lindsay (Andy) Schaefer; seven great grandchildren, Conner and Hannah Hanke, Luca, Audrey and Miles Fontanini and Gabi and Genson Schaefer; two nieces and one nephew.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne; three brothers, Lester, Clarence, Jr. and Donald; three sisters, Naoma Jay, Verna Steffy, and Gertrude Rapp.
The family would like to thank Dr. Filipiak and PA Malarie Bender, as well as the staff at Eastern Star Assisted Living, Skilled Care and Hearth Stone Memory Care, and Suncrest Hospice for the excellent care she received. Also, many thanks to Gail Rodgers for being such a special friend to her.

Kamryn Faith Brelsford, daughter of Jon and Nikki (Anderson) Brelsford, was born on July 12, 2004 in Ames, Iowa. She received her education from Ogden Community Schools, graduating with the class of 2023. After graduation, she was involved in the STARS Program at Ogden High School.
Kamryn was a very social person who enjoyed being surrounded by others. With the help of her sidekick Kristy, she participated in many activities both in and outside of the special education classroom. She loved music and spending time with her family. Despite her complex medical needs, Kamryn always had a smile on her face and could fill a room with laughter. She truly brought out the best in all of those around her.
Kamryn was preceded in death by her great grandparents, Lloyd and Lila Brelsford, Pat and Dorothy Adamson, Sam and Elaine Chiles, Raymond and Lorraine Anderson, and John Tiffany.
Survivors include her parents, Jon and Nikki Brelsford; sister, Kady Brelsford, all of Rippey; grandparents, Dick and Sue Anderson of Ogden, Craig and Jill Brelsford of Grand Junction; uncles, Ryan (Stacey) Anderson, and Joey (Nicole Strean) Brelsford; and several cousins.

Janice Pauline Hillman, daughter of Shark and Leone (Frantz) Hillman was born on June 17, 1934, at the family home in Grand Junction, Iowa. Janice received her education in Grand Junction, graduating from Grand Junction High School in 1952.
On October 4, 1953, Janice was united in marriage to Gerald R. Anderson at the Grand Junction Methodist Church. The couple resided in Boone before making their home in Ogden for the past 69 years.
Janice was a member of the Community United Methodist Church where she was very active in UMW and various church roles. She was a life member of Eastern Star and was active in 4-H as a volunteer, leader, and judge. She also was a beautiful seamstress, enjoyed all crafts, loved sports, and enjoyed traveling. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and never missed her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
In addition to her parents, Janice was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Wilma Hillman; and an infant great granddaughter.
Survivors include her loving husband of over 70 years, Gerald Anderson of Ogden; son, Tim (Vickie) Anderson of Ogden; three daughters, Shelly (Dan) Schall of Ogden, Heidi (Chris) Schell of Nevada, and Robin (Bob) Fisher of Oronogo, MO; grandchildren, Amanda (Jeremy) Nye, Tonya (Chad) Curry, Megan (Tim) Duncan, Bridgett (Camron) Tolley, Toni Leigh, Kari (Paul) Campbell, Greg (Christina) Schell, and Karla Smith; great grandchildren, Sawyer, Case, Anderson, Blaire, Mason, Ashlynn, CJ, Ryker, Addilyn, and Emilia; sister, Leita (Jerry) Barrick; and many nieces and nephews.

Norma Jean was the 7th of nine children born to Leonard and Irene (Johnson) Heard and was born on September 21, 1941, in Brushy Knob, Missouri. At the age of 12, following her mother’s passing, her father married Mary McGinness Nannen.
On May 31, 1961, Jean was united in marriage to Thomas Wayne Boardman at the First Methodist Church in Louisville, Nebraska. They spent their early years in Weeping Water and Ralston, Nebraska, before moving to Ogden in 1978 and finally to Boone in 1996.
Jean may be best remembered as the Ogden High School Secretary from 1979-1995. She loved to read books and was so proud of and loved her four grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Tim (Amanda) Boardman of Huxley, IA; her daughter, Lea (Darin) Snedden of Mount Vernon, IA; grandchildren, Alix, Riley, Cale, and Mollie, all of IA; brother, Don (Mary) Heard of Springfield, MO; and her sisters, Lela Baker of Schertz, TX; Janelle (Joe) Whilden of Nampa, ID; Carol (Allyn) Meyer of Omaha, NE; and Kathy (Al) Cristallino of Collierville, TN.
She is preceded in death by her husband Tom; two brothers, Jim and Clayton; and a sister, Jodi.

Merlyn "Merle" Winterfeld - April 22, 1929 - January 25, 2024

Merlyn Albert Winterfeld, son of Theodor and Edna (Rehder) Winterfeld was born on April 22, 1929, in Sioux County, Iowa. He received his early education in a one room school house, followed by graduation from High School in Sioux Center, Iowa.
On January 14, 1951, Merlyn was united in marriage to Doris Elaine Vipond in Hudson, South Dakota. Shortly after their honeymoon, Merlyn was drafted into The U.S. Army. After completing training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, he was assigned to C Battery of the 90th Field Artillery Battalion, 25th Infantry Division. His battery provided direct fire support to the front lines during the Korean War. He fired nearly 10,000 rounds on his assigned 155 Howitzer. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal in 1953. He returned from Korea to farm the family farm in Northwest Iowa near Sioux Center. Merlyn and Doris had two children, Ruth and Gary. The couple moved to Ogden in 1968 where they owned and operated the Coast to Coast Hardware.
Merlyn previously served as a volunteer on the Ogden Fire Department and was a member of the Ogden Lions Club. He enjoyed square dancing, reading, travelling, gardening, wood working and most of all spending time with family.
In addition to his parents, Merlyn was preceded in death by his wife, Doris in 2022; his grandson, Andrew Peck in 2008; and his four brothers, Julius, Edwin, Carroll, and Duane Winterfeld.
Left to honor his memory are survivors: his daughter, Ruth, and husband Gerald (“Jerry”) Peck of The Colony, TX; son, Gary Winterfeld and his partner Terry Fisher of Ogden; grandchildren, Ben Winterfeld and his son, Solomon; Whitney (Tyler) Vohs and their children, Zachary, Zoey, Zaiden, and Zaylee; Brooke (Tyler) Klotz and their children, Gabe, Rylee, and Grace; and his sister, Marlene Wegner.

Mary Ann Burt, daughter of John V. and Olga (Hanson) Burt was born on January 21, 1936, in Ogden, Iowa. She attended Ogden Schools.
On October 26, 1952, Mary Ann was united in marriage to L. Kenneth Haleen at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden. The couple established their home southwest of Boxholm where they farmed for many years.
Mary was involved with Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden and Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm throughout her life. She especially enjoyed camping and boating with her family for years at Lake of the Ozarks and traveling. Most of all she enjoyed time spent with her family and attending all of her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s activities.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Haleen; four sisters, Betty Elaine Burt in infancy, Phyllis Buckley, Alice Barnett, and Kathryn Miller; and her two brothers, Bill and Bob Burt.
Survivors include her daughter, Gail (Dr. Al) Schergen of St. Louis, MO; their children, Katie (Michael Bertram) Schergen and Kenny Schergen; her daughter, Kim (Rich) Larson of Ogden, IA; their children, Mary (Pete) Bergstrom and their children, Owen, Thomas, and Aaron Bergstrom; Amy (James) Hawcott and their children, Matthew, Ella, and Silas Hawcott; Mandy Larson and her son, Finley Gellerman-Larson; Scott Larson; and many nieces and nephews.

Eldora Rose Stumpenhorst was born on April 16, 1926, in Blue Hill, Nebraska, the daughter of Edward and Rosa (Siebrass) Stumpenhorst. She was confirmed in 1939, and graduated as salutatorian with the Blue Hill High School class of 1943. She furthered her education at Kearney State Teacher’s College, receiving her normal training teaching certificate, allowing her to teach country school. She taught in Nebraska and Iowa a total of 5 years prior to her marriage.
On June 10, 1948, Eldora was united in marriage to John Heineman Jr. at the old Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. To this union three children were born: Brian, Craig, and Paul. Eldora and John farmed in the Ogden area for many years and Eldora also worked at the ASCS office.
Eldora was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden serving on multiple committees. She was an excellent cook - making hundreds of birthday and wedding cakes, enjoyed playing bridge with friends, and loved time spent with family including many family vacations at Twin Lakes.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 siblings, Charles Stumpenhorst, Marvin Stumpenhorst, and Vera Youngren, as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
Survivors include her husband of 75 years, John Heineman Jr. of Ogden, IA; three sons, Dr. Brian (Nancy) Heineman of Grinnell, IA, Craig (Martha) Heineman of Ogden, IA, and Paul (Mari Lynn) Heineman also of Ogden, IA; nine grandchildren, Dr. Anna Heineman & (Dr. Gary Heil), Dr. Kate Heineman & (Lee Henderson), Dr. John Heineman & (Lauren Seemann), Dr. Thomas Heineman & (Adelaide Subtil), Brett & (Sarah) Heineman, Laura & (Reid) Sorensen, Andrew & (Katy) Heineman, Marcus & (Leslie) Heineman, and Grant & (Emily) Heineman; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, and their families.

Judith Clause Garber - December 27, 1941 - December 17, 2023

Born in Jefferson, Iowa, she graduated with a B.S. degree from Iowa State University where she was the president of the Tri-Delta sorority. She was a member of honors groups and the Iowa State Singers. She later extended her professional education by earning a Master’s in Counseling from Roosevelt University in Chicago.
Judith was an art instructor and guidance counselor for 37 years at Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Flossmoor, Illinois. She was a mainstay in the theatrical productions at HF where she choreographed more than 30 musicals. Judith also chaperoned student trips to Europe during her tenure at HF. She loved travel, visiting art museums, and the opera.
In retirement, Judith returned to her family farm in Iowa, where she restored the north place farmhouse. She was a supporter of Relay for Life, Ogden’s annual fundraiser to support breast cancer research. When she moved to Des Moines, she was active with several volunteer organizations. She enjoyed reading mysteries and doing needlepoint creations. Judith was known for her generosity, bridge-playing skills, sharp wit, and love of beauty.
She is survived by her son Timothy J. Garber, daughter-in-law Angela, grandson Joshua Thomas, granddaughter Gracie Kate, sister Mary Catherine Aldrich, and nieces Jennifer Aldrich and Margret Aldrich.

David Lee Faust Sr. was born on September 2, 1963, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of Wesley and Helen (Jeffers) Faust. He graduated with the Lincoln High School class of 1981, and furthered his education at Southeast Community College in Lincoln, Nebraska, completing his Associates Degree in electronics.
In 1984, David moved to the Medford, Oregon area, and worked at Strellman’s Custom Jewelry in Ashland for the next 21 years. On May 18, 2012, David was united in marriage to Pamela Bryant in Phoenix, Oregon. The couple moved to Ogden in December of 2020, after losing their Oregon home to a forest fire.
David belonged to Waters Edge Church in Ogden. He volunteered with the Civil Air Patrol and the Medford Volunteer Police Department. David was an avid car enthusiast and especially enjoyed racing.
Among the survivors are his wife, Pamela Faust of Ogden, Iowa; son and daughter-in-law, David Lee Faust II & Shana Marie Faust of Ogden, Iowa, and daughter, Danielle Faust of Ogden, Iowa; two grandchildren, Kaelyn Nicole, and Silas Kade; brothers, Brian Faust and Bruce Faust of Lincoln, Nebraska; mother and step-father, Helen and Fred Chrastil of Lincoln, Nebraska: his father, Wesley Faust of Lincoln, Nebraska; as well as several nieces, nephews, and their families.

Donald Edward Huntley was born on January 14, 1955, in Boone, Iowa, the son of Donald and Delilah “Dee” (Heck) Huntley. He graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1973.
Donnie had previous marriages and had three children.
Donnie was a professional truck driver and drove for D.A. Wilson, Adams Motors, and Land O’ Lakes. He had also worked for Karl Chevrolet, Innovative AG Services, and others, during his life.
He was a race car enthusiast and enjoyed riding his Harleys Davidson motorcycles. He had visited almost every state and enjoyed traveling and being with family.
Survivors include his life partner, Anna Gilley of Hubbard, IA; mother Dee Huntley of Ogden, IA; daughter, Danielle Staudenmaier (Aaron) of Dallas, TX; daughter, Jessie Good (Matt) of Mason City, IA; Lonnie Huntley (Nick) of Ogden, IA; his sister, Debi (Dave) Huffman of Boxholm, IA; brother, David (Kit) Huntley of Ogden, IA; brother Darren (Teresa) Huntley of Ogden, IA; sister, Dustine (Mike) Peterson of Ogden, IA; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Donald Eugene Snedden, son of Lloyd and Mollie (Adams) Snedden, was born on January 17, 1942, in Boone, Iowa. Don attended country school south of Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School with the class of 1960. Following his graduation, he attended Iowa State University where he majored in architecture. In 1962, Don began his architecture career at S.V.P.A. & Associates in Des Moines, eventually becoming a partner. After 40 years, he retired in March 2002. In addition to his career as an architect, Don enjoyed farming and raising livestock with his family.
On April 14, 1963, which was Easter Sunday, Don was united in marriage to Delores Helene Jones at Zion Lutheran Church. The couple resided in Ankeny for one year, until moving to West Des Moines where they lived for several years. Don always put family first, moving the family back to the farm in the Ogden area in 1972 which remains their current home north of Beaver, commuting for the next 30 years for his architecture career.
Don was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, and fishing. He loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s activities, and spending time with family. Don was also considered a Jack of all Trades and enjoyed doing many projects for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Dee Snedden of Ogden, IA; daughter, Danelle (Brett) Stumbo of West Des Moines, IA; sons, Dave (Holly) Snedden of St. Louis, MO, Darin (Lea) Snedden of Mount Vernon, IA, and Dan Snedden of Ogden, IA; 15 grandchildren, Ryan (Jordan), Austin, Tyler, and Kallyn Stumbo, Mackenzie, Brady (Anna), Dalton, Cale, Mollie, Bryce (Tressa), Noah, Ethan, Lane, Ben and Jake Snedden; two great grandchildren, Camden and Millie Stumbo; two brothers, Robert (Sandra) Snedden and Alan (Camille) Snedden; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Elvin Eugene Davenport, son of William Ralph and Irma Maudeline (Toyne) Davenport, was born on November 23, 1937, near Lake City, Iowa. Gene graduated from Arispe Consolidated High School with the class of 1955.
Gene was united in marriage to Cynthia Ann Peters on September 6, 1959, in Ogden, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Craig Eugene, Gina Linae, and CalLee Jay. Gene and Cynthia later divorced. Gene married Beverly Josephine Powers on June 3, 1977. Gene and Beverly later divorced.
Gene helped Charlie Frantum on the farm as well as many others. He then worked for Potter Construction, and then began working at Flynn Dairy while moonlighting at Welder Construction.
He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, and wintering in Florida with Nathalee.  Gene was in the Ogden Jaycees and held all offices in his years of service.  He also was involved in BB gun, shotgun, and rifle training of youngsters.
In addition to his parents, Gene was also preceded in death by his daughter, Gina Linae in 1966; brother, Gail Davenport; and his brother by choice, Daryl Morain.
Those left to cherish Gene’s memory are special friend, Nathalee Suiter of Urbandale; his two sons, Craig (Teresa) Davenport of Boone, and CalLee (Heather Burke) Davenport of Happy Valley, OR; three brothers, Delbert (Marian) of Lorimor, IA, Charles (Pat) of Arispe, IA, and Duane (Pam) of Charles City, IA; sister-in-law, Lynn Davenport of Hooper, NE; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

LaVerda Mae Russell, daughter of Truman and Helen (Donner) Russell was born on April 15, 1935, in Afton, Iowa. LaVerda grew up in Greenfield, Iowa, where she received her education and graduated from Greenfield High School with the class of 1955.
On December 29, 1956, LaVerda was united in marriage to Estel LeRoy Prouty in Maryville, Missouri.
LaVerda has lived in the Ogden area since 1964, and after her children were grown she worked for several years as a cook at the Ogden Community Schools until retiring in 1969.
She was a member of the Ogden Baptist Church. She enjoyed bowling, making quilts for her family, embroidery, loved cooking, and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed going to the McGraw Center playing cards and attending lunches.
In addition to her parents, LaVerda was also preceded in death by her husband, Estel Prouty; her daughter, Margaret Malone and two brothers, Harry and Roland Russell.
Survivors include her three sons, Jeff (Patty) Prouty of Ankeny, Randy (Pam) Prouty of Boone, and Marty (Linda) Prouty also of Boone; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; five brothers, Kenneth Russell, John (Ruby) Russell, Oliver (Cathy) Russell, Donald (Donna) Russell, Roger (Barb) Russell; three sisters, Edna (LeRoy) Recker, Marjorie McVay, Diane Kempf; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rozanne Rene Hasstedt, daughter of Kenneth and Rosemary (Pfaff) Hasstedt was born on September 13, 1952, in Jefferson, Iowa. She graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1970. She received her A.S. in Nursing from DMACC, Boone Campus in August of 1981.
On July 23, 1983, Rozanne was united in marriage to Kent Braynard at the Des Moines Botanical Center, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Rozanne worked as Registered Nurse her entire career. Her vocation took her many places including the Woodward State Hospital, Jewish Life Center, St. Jude Hospice and St. Croix Hospice. She won numerous nursing awards including the Mother Theresa Award, and the National Nurse of the Year by the National Association for Home Care and Hospice.
She was an athlete, coach, scholar, caretaker, nurse, mentor, friend, sister, wife and mom. What Rozanne loved the most was the Moody Blues and traveling to New Mexico and Colorado visiting her kids.
In addition to her parents, Rozanne was also preceded in death by her nephew, Erik Lingren.

JoAnn Joyce Luther, the daughter of Emory and Hazel (Ringgenberg) Luther was born on April 26, 1935, in Boone, Iowa. She graduated from Grand Junction High School with the class of 1953.
On December 12, 1954, Jo was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Van Pelt. To this union, three children were born: Steve, David, and Lynn. The couple lived and farmed in Beaver Township. Jo worked at the bank in Grand Junction and then as a homemaker when the children were born. Bob passed away in 1965 and Jo and her children moved to Ogden. She took a bookkeeping job at the Ogden Grain Company where she worked for 25 years.
On January 23, 1971, Jo was united in marriage to Roger Zunkel at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. They enjoyed dancing at Lake Robbins and socializing with friends. In the summer of 1973, the couple moved their family to the farm northeast of Ogden. Jo retired from Ogden Grain in 1998 and helped Roger farm until the couple retired in 2004. They enjoyed taking trips down south during the cold winter months.
Jo was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. She loved farming and attending her grandchildren's sporting events and activities. She also enjoyed fishing, mowing, gardening, and cruising down to the pond in her golf cart. She loved telling stories about her childhood and travel adventures with Roger.
In addition to her parents, Jo was also preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Van Pelt in 1965, Roger Zunkel in 2015; her son, Steve Van Pelt in 2016; brother, Bill Luther and his wife, Sharon; and brother-in-law, Dean Ringgenberg.
Survivors include her son, David (Kris) Van Pelt of Ogden; daughter, Lynn (Dave) Cotton of Gretna, NE; daughter-in-law, Denise Van Pelt of Ogden; seven grandchildren, Amy (Lindsy Reinert) Van Pelt, Nicole (Troy) Showers, Jamie (Nick) Wagner, Aaron Van Pelt, Mandy (Matt) Weinert, Dan and Joey Bellizzi; five great grandchildren, Ayden Downing, Lennon Wagner, Brinley Weinert, Emilia Weinert and Paxton Weinert; sister, LaVon Ringgenberg of Ames; as well as many friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Obituary Preview: Dorothy Mae Reimers passed away on August 18, 2023 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa. She was born at home on December 20, 1928, to Ferdinand Albert Zwald and Prudie Viola Rinehart and raised on the family farm in Boone County, Iowa.
She attended Maple Grove Country School in Amaqua Township through 8th grade and Ogden High School where she played basketball and softball graduating in 1947. After graduating from high school, she attended cosmetology school in Des Moines, Americana School of Beauty.
She was confirmed on April 18, 1943, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert DeVere Reimers on November 30, 1948 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden, Iowa. The couple made their home on a Reimers farm in Amaqua Township just six miles from her birthplace. Here they raised corn, soybeans, cattle, hogs, ponies and four children. After her youngest child was of school age in 1962, she opened a beauty shop in Boxholm, Iowa styling hair for 20 years until her retirement on April 30, 1982. Dorothy and Robert celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on November 30, 1988. Robert passed away from kidney cancer on March 1, 1995. Dorothy lived on the family farm in Amaqua Township for 73 years.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, LWML, William B. Ogden #1247 Questers group and many quilting groups. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed sewing and quilting for family and friends, playing cards, dancing at Lake Robbins, collecting antiques, traveling, camping, flowers and gardening, and spending time with family and grandchildren from Illinois to Colorado.
We were fortunate to celebrate her 80th and her 90th birthday with most all her family members present. She enjoyed traveling to Hawaii to see her brother and sister-in-law and traveled to Europe with her friend Donna Bollenbaugh as well as other travels with Robert. She took annual after Christmas train trips to visit daughter, Roxanne in Colorado.
Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; father and mother-in-law, Edward and Lorine Reimers; sister, Twila Morgan (William); and brother, Donald Zwald (Suzanne).
Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda (Robert) Nelson; son, Randy (Lynne) Reimers; son, Rick (Carol) Reimers; daughter, Roxanne (Mikel) Lewis; nine grandchildren: Ryan Libby) Nelson, Steven (Minda) Nelson, Jessica Nelson, Reese (Carrie) Reimers, Leslie (Josh) LeColst, Lindsey (Ben) Thomas, Lauren (Jared) Lundberg, Katelyn (Travis) Jones, James Lewis and 17 great grandchildren.

Marilyn Elaine Reutter, daughter of Donald and Mabel (Hedblom) Reutter was born on May 27, 1936, in Pilot Mound, Iowa. She started her schooling at the Pilot Mound School before attending Boxholm Consolidated High School, where she graduated with the class of 1955. Marilyn excelled at basketball and once scored 40 points in a game.
On May 29, 1955, Marilyn was united in marriage to Jerry Rodger Stumbo at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden. They were blessed with four children: Randy, Bobbi, Brett, and Carla. Marilyn was a homemaker for several years. Then later worked in health care at the Ogden Manor and Boone County Home Care. She was a longtime member of Bethel Church.
Marilyn enjoyed gardening, being a 4-H Leader and was an avid Cubs fan. Her greatest joys were serving the Lord and spending time with her grandchildren/great-grandchildren, along with attending their school activities. She was a very caring person, always thinking about others.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Davidson, Donna Gillis, Darlene Reutter, Rosella Gordon, Roberta Clausen, and Marjorie Peterson; brothers, Ronald Reutter, Robert Reutter, and Gene Reutter; her son-in-law, Larry Wendolek; and two granddaughters, Nicole Wendinger, and Jenny Wendolek.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Jerry Stumbo of Ogden; children, Randy (Teri) Stumbo of Clive, IA, Bobbi Wendolek of Mankato, MN, Brett (Danelle) Stumbo of West Des Moines, IA, and Carla (Travis) Adreon of Ogden, IA; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine (Barry) Martin, and Marlene Rabern; and three brothers, Larry (Jackie) Reutter, Leo Reutter, and Gary (Vicki) Reutter.

He then started his career at the Fareway Warehouse where he was employed for over 37 years before retiring as Warehouse Supervisor.
In 1962, John was united in marriage to Rita Lindgren in Milo, Iowa. The couple resided in Boone and Napier before making their home in Ogden where they raised their sons.
John was a former member of the Ogden Saddle Club. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking, and fishing. He also had a love for all animals, especially horses. John enjoyed his many fishing trips with his friends and family to Minnesota and horse trail riding in Missouri.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son in infancy, Robert Wheeler; and his sister, Linda Cheville.

Ruth was united in marriage to Paul Dean Evans on September 24, 1955, at the Church of the Brethren in Beaver. To this union two children were born: Paula and Dennis. The couple lived south of Beaver until moving into town in 1967. Ruth was a homemaker until 1961. She worked at Bourns Inc. as an assembler and later as a supervisor until its closing. She then worked as the Beaver postmaster until starting as the payroll clerk at Osmundson Manufacturing until retiring.
Ruth was a member of the Beaver Church of the Brethren where her activities included Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, and playing piano. She and Paul enjoyed camping, and Bluegrass music. She also loved quilting, gardening, and most of all adventures with her grandchildren and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul on May 23, 2006, three sisters, Donna Mosher, Evelyn Lansing, and Twilia Mackowiak, and her brother, Russell Dale Smalley Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Paula Evans of Beaver, IA; son, Dennis (Marlene Thompson) Evans of Humboldt, IA; four grandchildren, Lindsey (Heath) Curless, Travis Evans, Jennifer (Dillon Heesch) Evans, and Sarah (Zack) Miller; three great-grandchildren, Kipton, Kennedy, and Kerrigan Curless; one brother, Paul LeRoy (Carlene) Smalley of Nebraska City, NE; as well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Cindy Lou Daniels, daughter of Milton and Etta (Allen) Daniels was born on August 6, 1960, in Vancouver, Washington. She graduated from Grand Community High School in Boxholm, Iowa, with the class of 1978. Cindy then attended La’ James International College in Fort Dodge.
Cindy met Robert Cummings while living in Florida and the couple were united in marriage at her mother’s home in Pilot Mound. After several years of marriage, the couple divorced.
Cindy worked for many years at Stratford Telecommunications and became an ordained minister in 2021. She enjoyed rock hunting, painting, collecting things, and loved her dog Reba.
Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Milton Daniels; one sister, Pamela Jo Southworth; two brothers, David LeRoy Daniels and Charles McKinley Daniels; her nephew, Nathan Southworth; five aunts, three uncles, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Survivors include her mother, Etta Daniels of Pilot Mound; two brothers, Larry Daniels also of Pilot Mound, and John Daniels of Boone; one half-brother, Mark Daniels; two half-sisters, Crystal Harris and Kerry Daniels all of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Ron Jome, 86, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.
Visitation for Ron will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the church with Pastor Heidi Farmer and Pastor Sam Mack officiating.
Ronald David Jome, son of Kermit and Esther (Kolstad) Jome was born on June 22, 1937, in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. He graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School with the class of 1955. Ron then attended the University of Wisconsin Madison where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in bacteriology. Ron served in the U.S. Army and was assigned as a laboratory technician at the Army’s Biological Warfare Laboratories at Fort Detrick, Maryland.
On November 30, 1963, Ron was united in marriage to Barbara Bierfeldt. To this union a son Eric was born. Ron earned his Ph.D. in microbiology at the University of Maryland in 1967. He worked as an applied microbiologist in the poultry vaccine industry for nearly 30 years. Following his wife Barbara’s passing in June of 1991, Ron then moved to Gowrie, IA in 1992.
On August 7, 1994, Ron was united in marriage to Janice Reko at the Gowrie Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Ogden. A lifelong student, Ron returned to college in his 60’s, earning a master’s degree in counselor education at Iowa State University. He then worked at Aging Resources of Central Iowa until his retirement.
Ron was an active member in the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden and served on the church’s leadership board and staff-parish relations committee. He had a deep devotion to serving his community and was active in the leadership of numerous organizations. Over the years, he served as secretary of the Older Iowans Legislature, president of the Kiwanis Clubs of Gowrie and Boone, helped to organize the Aktion Klub (Kiwanis) of Boone, was the lieutenant governor of the Iowa-Nebraska district of Kiwanis, served as president of the Lions Club of Ogden, was a member of the Salvation Army board of directors in Boone, and served on the board of directors of Aging Resources of Central Iowa. A tireless volunteer, he could also be found helping with activities including pancake suppers, charity sales, after-prom activities, and calling bingo for residents at Ogden Manor, an activity he led for 20 years.
He was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to his family members, and a counselor and mentor to countless others.
In addition to his parents, Ron was also preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara; sister, Delane Jome; and his brother, Darrell Jome.
He is survived by a large blended family including his loving wife, Jan Jome of Ogden; children, Eric (Sarah) Jome of Bloomington, IL, Tim (Julie) Minnihan of Maple Grove, MN, Julie (Roger) Graden of Ames, Todd (Lori) Minnihan of Scranton, and Jane (Dr. Craig) Clark of Johnston; grandchildren, Bergen Jome, Brian Jome, Angie Otis (Dr. Matt Otis), Brenna Lucas (Jon Lucas), Chrissy Clark, Bailey Clark, Jaret Hagen, Jenni Hagen, Heidi Minnihan (Brandon Fosco), Zach Minnihan, Ben Minnihan (Abby Katt), Kaity Minnihan, Mike Minnihan (Lizzie Minnihan), Nick Minnihan; great-grandchildren, Caydon Tucker, Laine Fosco, Norah Otis, Nolan Otis, Violet Otis, Brooks Minnihan, Beckett Minnihan, Cambree Dudley, Neal Dudley, and Eleanor Lucas; and two brothers, Daniel (Emily) Jome of Appleton, WI, and Wayne (Mary Jo) Jome of Sturgeon Bay, WI.
