Joseph Lewis Crosby Jr. - January 08, 1938 - February 18, 2022

Departed: 02/18/2022 (Canton)
Obituary Preview: Joseph Lewis Crosby, Jr passed away peacefully in his sleep the night of Feburary 18th, 2022 with his son and daughter-in-law by his side. After being diagnosed with pancreatic and lung cancer several years ago, Lewis fought with courage and passion. He was often seen cutting his grass the day after chemotherapy treatment. Lewis was born on January 8, 1938 in Pahokee, Florida and was a retired salesman.
Lewis was a man of many trades. He could smoke you in cards and any trivia game. He was a master at crossword puzzles, fishing, and grilling. Moreover, he loved the beauty of a sharp gun. He knew every word to every Elvis song and didn’t sound bad when singing it. What he will be mostly remembered by was his love for his family and his wife, Joyce. She loved him big and he loved her deep. They spent the last 23 years happily married. Every time we think of Lewis and Joyce, we think of his sweet rendition of “I Can’t Help Falling in Love” he sang to her at their wedding, or the two of them sipping on iced tea on their patio in the afternoon.
We ache because he is no longer with us. We will miss his laughter, nuggets of trivia, and (maybe) even his sarcasm. We celebrate because he is no longer in pain and is healed of the disease that was taking the life from him. As his granddaughter, I’m thankful for the last couple of years we had with him. Every time we were all together you could tell he was soaking in every moment. He loved the laughter from his granddaughters, even as they were wildly running around him, good conversation between family members, and the daily phone call with his son. He also shared many fun stories about Joyce and her children and their families. We cherish every memory we have with him. And with every Elvis song, we will smile hearing the sound of his voice in our head.
