Thomas Allen Sudderth - January 07, 1956 - March 24, 2024

Departed: 03/24/2024 (Stockton)
Obituary Preview: March 24, 2024, on Palm Sunday at 1:10pm, Thomas Allen Sudderth passed away in his home peacefully surrounded by love and his daughters. At the tender age of 68 Tom abruptly lost his battle with cancer.
Tom was born at Damien Hospital in Stockton, California to Marvin Joe and Virginia Dora Sudderth. Having 5 older siblings, Tom was the baby of the family. Tom was baptized in the Catholic church when he was 10 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Linden, California.
Tom’s childhood included attending Chartville Elementary and Linden High School before joining the United States Army at the age of 17. He is survived by his two daughters, Monique Seda Smith and Veronika Tannaz Sudderth, as well as his grandson Oliver James Smith.
Tom’s close friends called him Tommy and everyone who knew him knew he was a country boy at heart. Tom grew up on a poultry farm and from a very young age became a very hard worker. The farm is where he grew a love for dogs, livestock, and all animals in general. Tom was always proud of his time in the Army, where he served in the 45th Finance Section in Germany. After his time in the Army and years of hard work including multiple successful stints in sales, he was inspired to start his own business AAA Gutter and Downspouts.
Tom had a deep-rooted passion for travel. He loved taking his daughters on vacations to Disneyland, Hawaii, and New Orleans. He also loved taking big fishing trips in Alaska and the Florida Keys. As well as his annual crab fishing trips in Bodega Bay. But the trips that he gained the most joy from were visits to Apple Hill in the fall, petting the livestock at the California State Fair during the summer, and quick getaways to Napa Valley throughout the year for wine tasting. Tom was always the life of the party and welcomed an adventure wherever he went, but above all else Tom was a proud girl dad and his most prized possessions were his two daughters, whom he loved more than life itself. He will be loved and missed by many.
Services will be held on April 2, 2024 at Farmington Memorial Park at 11am. Contact Family for information regarding the reception.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and remember the deceased, while also providing important information to those who knew them. They can help notify people of the person's passing, share details about their life and accomplishments, and provide information about funeral services or memorial donations.

Who typically writes an obituary?

The task of writing an obituary usually falls to the family members or close friends of the deceased. In some cases, a funeral home or obituary writer may assist with the writing process. The writer should be someone who was close to the deceased and has a good understanding of their life and personality.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. It may also include information about funeral services, memorial donations, or other ways to pay tribute to the deceased.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or website it will be published on. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from 100 to 500 words. Longer obituaries may be more suitable for online publications or personal websites.

Can I include photos in an obituary?
