Joseph Daley - August 25, 1931 - April 24, 2024

Obituary Preview: Joseph A. Daley, 92, passed away Wednesday, April 24, peacefully at home. Born in Danvers, he was the son of the late Arthur and Praxethea (Kachka) Daley. He was the loving husband of Jean Daley, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage before her passing.
Joseph graduated from Holten High School in Danvers 1949. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 on the USS Columbus. Joseph was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, and Patriots. His favorite activity was his monthly casino visits with his daughter Judy to Encore and Foxwoods and enjoying the company of his family, especially little Aiden, his great-grandson.
Joseph is survived by his loving son, Leonard Doucette; loving daughter, Judy Smith and her husband David; stepdaughter, Mary Sousa; brother, Michael Daley and his wife Andrea; grandchildren, Scott Smith and his wife Randi and Marc Smith and his wife Tricia; adored great grandchild, Aiden Smith and nephews, Michael Daley Jr. and Douglas Daley. Joseph is also survived by his special friends, the Bernardo family. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean Daley, brother, Christie Daley; sister, Violet Daley and stepdaughter, Donna Doucette.
Joseph’s funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, 19 Chestnut St., Peabody, on Thursday, May 2, at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Lawrence C. McNeil - August 02, 1942 - April 23, 2024

Obituary Preview: Lawrence C. McNeil, Jr., 81, passed away Tuesday, April 23, in Lahey Hospice Care at Beverly Hospital. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Lawrence C. and Mary (Kelley) McNeil, the oldest of their 5 children. He was the loving husband of Rebecca (Jones) McNeil for 53 years.
He worked as a lifeguard at various pools while attending the Newman School in Boston, graduating in 1962. In the summers in Scituate, Mass. he earned significant money "mossing", using a deep-water rake to bring the moss up to his little boat. Later, after adding a motor, he charged for towing other boats to the mossing field as well.
After graduating from the Newman School, he earned a B.S.in accounting in 1965 from Boston College; and a M.A. in Anthropology from The Catholic University of America in 1976.
Upon graduating from Boston College, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Infantry School in 1966, then Infantry Officer Candidate School, and Military Intelligence Training. He earned his parachute badge. He served in Military Assistance Command Vietnam (MAC-V), was awarded a Bronze Star medal and other medals and promoted to Captain. When thanked for his service, he always said, "It was my privilege to serve!" His last duty station upon his return was with an Army Intelligence group at the Pentagon.
Upon his Honorable Discharge, Larry enrolled at the Catholic University of America in D.C. to study Anthropology. He was always a "people person"; he liked people, and they liked him.
He and Rebecca enjoyed visiting her parents in Calvert Beach, MD and in Sagaponack, NY. At the latter, he became a pro at replacing the weights in 100-year-old double hung windows.
Larry joined his brother Robert M. McNeil in opening the Ipswich Ford dealership in Ipswich, Mass. Larry's concentration was the sale of commercial trucks.
Larry and Rebecca greatly enjoyed boating, first out of Gloucester Harbor and later even more at Perkins Marine in Essex, Mass. They took their 22' Aquasport across Mass. Bay to tour Cape Cod and the Islands. They joined the U.S. Power Squadron to take boating classes and learn navigation. Their boating was much enhanced with a 27' Boston Whaler, Full cabin with twin outboards.
They liked autumn canoeing on the Ipswich River in Rebecca's antique Morris canoe. When their disabilities precluded boating, they focused on their home and property in Hamilton.
Larry was an Ipswich Rotarian and co-chaired the committee which built Rotary Park at the New YMCA. He was also a life-long member of the Ipswich VFW.
Larry is survived by his wife, Rebecca; brother, Chris; sister, Marilyn; nieces, Rebecca, Joanne and Linda; nephews, Robert, Daniel, James, and Colby; cousins, Dr. Barbara McNeil, Ginny and her husband John Lord, Bob and other Naumes cousins and John Donovan and cousins.. He was predeceased by his aunt, Alice Bundy, cousin, Mary Naumes, younger brothers, Cpl Joseph Daniel McNeil, U.S. Marine Corp who died in Vietnam and Robert M. McNeil.
Larry’s funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Church, 1 Pineswamp Rd., Ipswich, on Friday, May 10, at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly, on Thursday, May 9, from 4:00pm-7:00pm. Burial will be at Hamilton Cemetery.

Jean A. Landrigan - July 25, 1932 - April 23, 2024

Obituary Preview: GLOUCESTER - Jean A. (Drinkwater) Landrigan, 91 of Gloucester, formerly of Wakefield, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday morning, April 23, 2024 at Beverly Hospital. She was the wife of the late Capt. George E. Landrigan. Born in Wakefield, she was the daughter of the late Frank P. and Olga S. (Pasquale) Drinkwater. Jean was raised in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School with the class of 1950. She attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and graduated in 1952.
For twenty-five years, Jean worked in the family business, Elk Spring Bottling Company in Wakefield with her mother Olga managing the business until it was sold in 1978. Jean then went on to work with her husband George at Landrigan Corporation, a marine safety business located in East Boston until the business was sold in 2017. Jean was president of the company at the time of the sale.
Jean’s passion was horses. She was an accomplished rider and national champion in the 3 gated saddle seat division during the l950s. She won numerous ribbons and trophies, competing up and down the east coast with her champion mare Red Sky at Night.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Laura Landrigan-Quill, her husband Mark; two grandchildren, Christopher Quill and his wife Lori, Patrick Quill and his wife Corie; two great grandchildren Benjamin and Samuel, 3 nephews, Mark Drinkwater, his wife Debbie, Jeffrey Drinkwater, Charles McManuis of California, a niece, Karen McManuis of Texas and her sister-in-law Linda Drinkwater. She was predeceased by her husband, George and brother, Frank P. Drinkwater, Jr. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at Visitation Parish, 62 School Street, Manchester-by-the-Sea on Tuesday, May 7th at 11 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly, on Monday, May 6th, from 4pm to 7pm. Burial will be held privately at a later date. Richard L. Morin - October 12, 1938 - April 21, 2024

Obituary Preview: Beverly, MA - Richard Leon “Dick” Morin, 85, of Beverly, passed away April 21, 2024 at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers after a brief illness. Son of the late Joseph C. and Cecile L. (Pelletier) Morin, he was born and raised in Salem, MA. He graduated from Salem High School in 1955.
Dick earned an Associate degree in Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, then continued his education at Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and a Master of Science Degree in Engineering Management.
He led a distinguished career in Northeastern University’s Electrical Engineering Department where he participated in ground-breaking research in the aerospace industry. He received many commendations from the Department of the Air Force for his work on various government sponsored projects, and traveled extensively to launch sites for testing and field support for the equipment that his team had designed. He retired from Northeastern in 1994.
Dick married his late wife Margaret “Marge” (Matte) and moved to Beverly in 1966. He raised his children and spent the next 50+ years in the home that he loved on Sunset Drive, surrounded by many cherished neighbors that were like a second family. After Marge passed unexpectedly in 1982, Dick was blessed with love again when he met and married Margaret (Pilkington) in 1985. He and Margaret enjoyed cruising and traveling to beautiful locations around the world in their retirement.
Throughout his life, Dick was a pillar of strength to his family. His kindness, sense of humor, and wisdom endeared him to all who knew him. He bonded with his son Greg over their shared passion for all things engineering-related. His relationship with his twin granddaughters, Sarah & Rachel was truly special. They adored one another and he loved attending their sporting events and following all of their academic achievements. He was an avid Boston sports fan, and enjoyed telling stories of playing hockey in his youth until handball, and then racquetball became his sports of choice.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Margaret (Pilkington); his son Gregory Morin and wife Patricia of Chicago, IL.; his daughter Cheryl Norris and husband Alan of Stoneham; his sister Sandra Heaphy of Salem; and his granddaughters Sarah and Rachel Norris, as well as many other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Dick on Thursday April 25, 2024 at 11AM at St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish, 24 Conant St. Danvers, MA. Interment will follow at North Beverly Cemetery. Visitation will be held on the same day from 9AM to 10:30AM at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St. Beverly, MA. Obituary Preview: Karen P. Grossman, 81, passed away Saturday, April 20, peacefully. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Ruth (Flekke) Wehmeyer. Karen was the loving wife of Neil Grossman, with whom she shared 12 years of marriage before his passing.
Karen spent most of her life on Cape Cod but was well-travelled and lived in many places, from Mexico to Maine. She graduated from Dartmouth College in 1975 and worked as a social worker and guidance counselor on the Cape for most of her professional life. In her later years, she was a coordinator for CASA and then worked at Hospice of the North Shore, coordinating and training volunteers.
Karen is survived by her sons, Eben Pickells, Joshua Ferguson and Gabriel Hennessey, daughters, Miranda Siemasko and her husband Thad and Samantha Renda and her husband Tom, and her grandchildren, Sarena Pickells, Sadye Ferguson, Logan Ferguson, Sophia Hennessey, Abby Gooding, Lily Gooding, Jack Renda, and Maggie Renda. Services for Karen are private. Thomas Knoke - June 20, 1963 - April 20, 2024

Obituary Preview: Thomas Knoke, 60, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 20, 2024. He was the loving husband of Regine Adam and devoted father of Emily and Shannon Adam.
Thomas grew up in Wenden, Germany, as the oldest of three sons. He earned his Master’s degree of Electronical Engineering and Information Technology at the Technical University of Munich. Thomas founded TK Consulting in 2004 and worked as a project manager and consultant for many years. His consulting included several international banks as well as Frankfurt International Airport. Thomas had a deep passion for the environment and sustainability. As Manager IT Business Solutions at Form Energy in Boston, Thomas was able to find the best place to combine his passion and talents to support their mission of low-cost clean energy.
Thomas loved spending time with his wife of twenty-eight years and his two daughters whether at home or traveling the world together. In 2012, he moved to Manchester-by-the-Sea with his family for its sense of community and beautiful location. He loved photography, riding his bike on Cape Ann as well as walks on Singing Beach. At any family or friends gathering he could be found barbecuing behind the grill; he was a great host.
In addition to his wife and daughters, he will be missed by his brothers, Harald Knoke and Stefan Knoke; their spouses; his nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and close friends.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Cohan. Born in Chelsea, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Elizabeth (Haydock) Haltom. Marilyn attended the Immaculate Conception School in Revere for twelve years, where she was taught by the Sisters to play the piano and the organ.
Marilyn worked for Suburban Gas Company in Revere until her marriage to Robert Cohan in 1951. She was the organist for St. Margaret and St. Alphonsus Churches in Beverly for many years. Over the years, Marilyn enjoyed teaching piano lessons in her home. For many years she taught CCD at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Beverly. In 1979, Marilyn was chosen to represent St. Mary Star of the Sea Church as a member of the Archdiocese Papal Choir who sang at Pope John Paul II historic Mass on Boston Common. Marilyn was a dedicated wife and mother, who adored raising her family.
Surviving her are two sons, Mark Cohan and his wife Susan of Baltimore, MD, Paul Cohan of Beverly; two daughters, Marybeth McPherson and her husband Michael of Beverly and Carolyn Susi of Westbrook, ME; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by one brother, Fredrick Haltom and one sister, Beryl Countie. Marilyn’s funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, 672 Hale Street, Beverly, on Friday, April 26th, at 12 Noon. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Daniel L. Robichau - July 22, 1991 - April 19, 2024

Obituary Preview: Daniel L. Robichau, 32, of Danvers, passed away on April 19, 2024, after a tragic motorcycle accident in Danvers, Massachusetts. Known affectionately as Danny to friends and family, he is remembered for his vibrant spirit and endearing presence.
Danny was born in Beverly and grew up there. He spent many summers with his sisters and cousins at his Nana’s camp at Lake Shore Park on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee. He attended NETTS in North Andover where he obtained his CDL license. He has worked for Robert J Deveraux Corp., Equipment North and Classic Structures Contracting. Danny lit up the world with his presence. Friends and family enjoyed Danny’s ability for bringing joy into every room he entered. He was kind, funny, sweet, goofy and he has left a void in the hearts of those he touched. To know him was to love him. A beautiful playful soul gone way too soon.
Daniel was survived by his father Robert Robichau of Beverly and his mother Jeanette Dube and partner Rick Williams of Danvers. He leaves his two beautiful daughters, Juliana Nikole of Lynn and Aurora Danielle of Danvers and her mother, love of Danny’s life, Kenzie Hackett; his sisters, Jennifer Mckenzie and husband Kenneth of Woburn, Michelle Killam and husband Tad of Exeter NH, Shauna Dube of Beverly, Cirinna Robichau of Salem; His grandparents Carolyn Berridge of Barefoot Bay, Florida, James Robichau and wife Karen of Beverly, Roger Babcock of North Conway, NH, Louise Sullivan of Orangeburg, SC; uncles John Robichau of Wenham, Brian Babcock of North Conway NH, James Mayfield of Burlington, NC; and aunts Jill Babcock Drew and husband Fred of Chocorua, NH and Sherry Mayfield of Hulbert, OK ; former brother in law Richard Rodriguez of Salem. Danny was a wonderful Uncle to 9 beloved nephews and 2 nieces; along with being “Uncle” to so many of the children of his friends; He leaves numerous great aunts, uncles, cousins in Massachusetts, Arizona and Oklahoma. He is predeceased by grandmothers Marjorie Davis and Jean Babcock; and uncles Thomas Robichau and Scott Babcock; and the mother of his daughter Juliana, Rachel Lord.

Robert Bruce Oliver - January 18, 1962 - April 18, 2024

Obituary Preview: Robert Bruce Oliver, Jr., 62, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024 at his home. Born in Framingham, he was the son of Robert Bruce, Sr. and the late Sylvia E. (Bell) Oliver of Florida.  He was the brother of Susan Oliver of Florida. He was the former spouse and lifelong friend of the late Joan Donovan-Oliver.
Bruce was a graduate of Milton Academy and retired from Citizens Bank. He loved his dogs, a good book, learning, and spending time with his family.
Bruce is survived by two daughters Jessica (Oliver) Gardner and her husband Peter of Whitman and Kimberly Oliver of Beverly, and his two sons Matthew Oliver and his fiancée Maegan Kiernan of Peabody, and James Oliver and his wife Tarja of Maine. He is also survived by his two granddaughters Evelyn and Charlotte Gardner of Whitman, along with cousins, nephew and nieces.

Louis Peter Walor, Jr. - February 05, 1943 - April 18, 2024

Obituary Preview: Louis Peter Walor, Jr., “Pete,” beloved husband of Sandra E. (Belleau) Walor of Beverly, passed away on April 18, 2024 following a brief illness. Peter was born in Peabody, MA on February 5, 1943 and was the son of the late Louis P. Walor, Sr. and Margaret E. “Peggy” (Davison) Walor. He was raised in Beverly and graduated from St. John’s Prep in Danvers in 1961. He attended Norwich University and served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard from 1967-1973.
Peter worked in the food industry for several companies, most recently with Creative Seasonings in Salem, MA. His most meaningful profession, however, was being the “jack of all trades” for the past twenty years at Mrs. Alexander’s School in Beverly. He was an alumni of the St. Mary’s Cardinals Drum and Bugle Corps. Peter volunteered as a youth baseball and hockey coach for many years in Beverly which he enjoyed immensely. He loved to play golf and was a member of the elusive hole-in-one club. A lifelong Boston sports fan, Pete reveled in all the championships of the past 25 years. Watching his sons play hockey throughout high school and beyond was a true passion for him, but nothing made him more proud than sharing in the accomplishments of his grandchildren; they were his pride and joy. Among his finest accomplishments in life, Peter leaves a long list of people he called friends, and he always made them feel special.
Peter is also survived by two sons, Kevin Walor and wife Laurie Sachs of Hudson, MA, and their son George Sachs-Walor; David Walor of Gloucester, MA and Tara Walor of Beverly, MA, their daughter Paige Walor, and their son Jake Walor. In addition, Peter is survived by his two sisters, Diane (Walor) Spear and her husband Rod Spear of Boothbay, ME and Margaret “Peggy” Walor of Gardnerville, NV. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Elaine Belleau, Judy and Ed Marzerka, David and Nancy Belleau, and several nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Pauline Belleau. He also leaves dear friend Jeanne Mazzola, wife of his best friend, the late Tony Mazzola.

James Augustine Callely - July 23, 1931 - April 14, 2024

Obituary Preview: BEVERLY - James A. Callely, Jr., 92, of Beverly, passed away on Sunday evening, April 14, 2024 at Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Beverly. Born in Beverly, he was the son of the late James A. Callely, Sr. and Agnes (Ordway) Callely. He was the loving husband of 66 years of the late Janice A. (Cavanaugh) Callely. Jim was a graduate of Beverly High School and Northeastern University where he received both his Bachelor's and Masters's Degrees in Electrical Engineering. He also received his teaching certification in Mathematics from Salem State College
Jim worked in the engineering field in the 1960's developing germanium power transistors for Fairchild Electronics and CBS Hytron. Later while working for Sylvania in Salem, he developed a patent and design for panelescent lighting for a NASA contract for the Apollo 11 Saturn V. He retired from Macom in Burlington where he designed semi-conductors. In the late 1970's he was a math teacher at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School.
Jim loved to travel and with Jan had regular trips to Bermuda. In retirement, they saw Europe and he had his dream trip to Alaska. He was an avid skier and he and Jan skied well into their 70s at Bretton Woods, NH. They were 50-year subscriber members of West Beach in Beverly Farms and Jim spent many great days there with the family.
Jim was a communicant of St Mary's Star of the Sea Parish, Beverly.
James is survived by his daughter, Patricia L. Burton and her husband Donald of Concord, NH; two sons, Brian D. Callely and his wife Carol of Beverly; and Christopher J. Obituary Preview: Beverly, MA - Eugene Lister, 89, of Beverly, formerly of Gloucester and Methuen, passed away April 13, 2024 at the Blueberry Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. Son of the late Harry and Reina (Guay) Lister, and widow to the late Margaret (Sawyer) Lister, Eugene was born in Lawrence. He attended Methuen Schools.
In their early life, Eugene and Margaret settled in Gloucester before moving to Beverly in the 1970’s. Eugene served in the United States Coast Guard for an entire career. He went on to work as the head of food service for Beverly Hospital, and later worked as the head of the janitorial staff at Salem State College. He worked and played extensively at Lake View golf course and proudly served as a crossing guard in the Cove. He was a talented artist and made impressive stained-glass creations. One piece he is known for is proudly displayed at the Hannah Elementary School in Beverly.
Eugene is survived by: his son James of Beverly, his granddaughter Sarah Blotcher of Beverly and his son-in-law Alan Blotcher of Beverly. He was predeceased by his daughter Margaret.

Obituary Preview: Manchester, MA - Henry Anthony Taron, 92, of Manchester passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 12, 2024. Son of the late Waclaw and Michalena Tataronis, Henry (Hank) was born in Salem, and raised in Salem and Danvers. He graduated from Holten High School (Danvers) in 1950 and later married his high school sweetheart, Nancy O’Neill.
Henry attended Colby College through an Air Force ROTC scholarship. He majored in business and graduated in 1955. His Air Force service included posts in Pensacola, Florida; Harlingen, Texas; Waco, Texas, and Otis Air Force Base on Cape Cod. Following his military service, he and his growing family settled in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts, and he embarked on his business career with the Travelers Insurance Company, working first in Boston and later in Wakefield and Danvers.
Henry and Nancy shared a love of antiques and ran Tradewinds Antiques, a shop in Essex. As the business evolved, Tradewinds became an exclusive purveyor of fine antique canes and walking sticks. The success of this specialization changed their business into the first auction house entirely dedicated to this collectible. Henry was considered a world-renowned expert on this subject and handled the sale of important pieces from famous makers like Tiffany and Fabergé, pieces owned by US presidents, and many decorative and historical pieces that now reside in museums.
A lifelong sportsman, Henry played football and baseball at Holten High School and baseball at Colby College. He later coached youth baseball in Manchester. As a diehard Red Sox fan, his passion for the game led his friends to call him the “Mayor of Section 32” at Fenway Park, where he held season tickets for many years. He also had a life-long love of tennis and fishing.
Henry also enjoyed travel and spent many weekends with his family visiting Cape Cod, the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and the coast of Maine. Later in life, he and Nancy developed a fondness for international travel, particularly to England. A naturally gregarious man, Henry will be fondly remembered by his many friends, colleagues, and associates around the world.
Henry was preceded in death by Nancy, his wife of 43 years. He is survived by his son Douglas Taron and his husband Leon Halloran of Elgin, Illinois, his daughter Kathleen Taron Kinney and her husband David of Marblehead, his son Christopher Taron and his wife Barbara of Essex, his grandson David Kinney, his granddaughters Abigail and Isabelle Taron, and his sister-in-law Sheila McCarthy of Danvers.

She was born in Nova Scotia, May 30,1938 and was raised by her wonderful parents, Pauline and Earle Boswell. She graduated in 1956 from Beverly High School and has remained close with many of her high school friends still today. She met and married her high school sweetheart, Bill, on July 7, 1957, and they began building their family of six, Bill, Dana, John, and Janet. They settled into her childhood home on Appleton Avenue of Beverly, MA and she stayed home to raise her children and gifted them with such wonderful memories of childhood.
Louise was the kindest, sweetest, strongest woman who loved her kids, her grandchildren and friends deeply. You could always see her tooling around in her little car as she was always on the go. She enjoyed always being out and about experiencing new things She worked throughout the years at Gemini Laminating where she was the Office Manager, McDonalds, where she worked in the office, Eastern Bank in Ryal Side where many went to see her friendly face, and finally in retirement at Market Basket in Rowley where customers would wait in her long line just to chat with her.
Mom loved her books, her family, her friends, going to dinner, vacations in Winnipesaukee, NH, trips to Kensington, NH to visit her brother and sister-in-law (Dick and Della) and their family. She loved visiting friends, Elaine, Eileen, Debbie and Scott and getting her hair done at Sally's. She loved to hang out with her children's friends as well. She loved it! She was young at heart. Her other favorite things were the Red Sox, Patriots, Aruba, Florida, shopping, and the occasional trip to the casino and scratch tickets.
Her children, John and his wife Valerie of Rochester, NH and Janet McGinnis and her husband Chuck were her entire world along with her grandchildren, Joshua LeBrun and wife Danielle, Ryan McGinnis and his girlfriend Maddie Berry, Christopher McGinnis, Allison McGinnis, Jonathan Sutherland and his wife, Jessie, Patrick Sutherland and his fiancé, Amy, and many great grandchildren.
Mom leaves behind her brother, Richard Boswell of Kensington, NH, and his wife Della, her sister-in-law Carol Boswell, her children, and several nieces and nephews.
Louise was predeceased by her husband, William, her parents (Pauline and Earle), brother Robert Boswell, sons William and Dana, and grandson, Matthew.
Words cannot express the impact Louise had on others around her. She was a true lady and was loved by many and did for others. She was so much fun. Mom, aka Weezie, Weez, Beeze, may you rest in peace - no more sorrow, no more pain, except for those left behind. We will live on with your whisper in our ears and gentle hugs felt from up above, and with strength and pride you instilled with love. We love you.

Obituary Preview: Ralph W. Drinkwater, affectionately known as "Rip" by those who knew him, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2024, at Beverly Hospital. He was a cherished resident of Beverly, where he left an indelible mark on both the community and the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
Rip's enduring love and devotion to his late wife, Anne L. (Cooper) Drinkwater, was the cornerstone of his life. Together, they shared a remarkable journey of 66 years of marriage, a testament to their unwavering commitment to each other and to their shared values.
Born and raised in Beverly to the late George F. and Anna M. (Lawler) Drinkwater, Rip was a true son of the city. He was a proud graduate of Beverly High School, Class of 1948, and remained dedicated to his hometown throughout his life.
Rip's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish the esteemed R.W. Drinkwater Construction Co. Inc. in 1952, a testament to his vision and tenacity. He also served as president and treasurer of Green Belt Realty.
At the age of 26, Rip was appointed to the City of Beverly Planning Board, where he faithfully served for 16 years, including eight years as chairman. He was appointed to the City of Beverly Appeals Board, where he contributed his expertise for a six-year term. Additionally, he served as President of West Beach Corp. and lent his guidance to the Farms-Prides Fireworks Display, 4th of July Committee, and Horribles Parade.
In matters of faith, Rip was equally devoted, serving as chairman of St. Margaret’s Church and contributing his expertise to the Building Committee of North Shore Community Baptist Church. His generosity knew no bounds, and his readiness to lend a helping hand was a source of comfort and inspiration to all.
Rip's legacy is one of service, integrity, and unwavering dedication to his community. In the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him, his memory will forever be cherished.
He is survived by one sister-in-law, Georgia Drinkwater of Beverly; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Allen and Patricia Drinkwater of Beverly Farms, Paul and Jayne Drinkwater of Beverly Farms, and Judith Drinkwater of Gloucester; one daughter, Nancy Drinkwater of Beverly; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Rip was preceded in death by his beloved son Ralph Drinkwater, Jr. and his four sisters and four brothers.
Rip’s funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, 672 Hale St., Beverly, on Wednesday, April 10, at 11;00am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Obituary Preview: Alfred (Fred) W. DeScenza, 95 of Essex, Owner and former President of DeScenza Diamonds, passed away peacefully April 1, surrounded by his family and his beloved wife of 72 years, Shirley Tyler DeScenza.
Born on June 13, 1928 in Medford, MA to the late Alfred F. DeScenza and Bertha (Silver) DeScenza, Fred grew up spending summers with his family in Winthrop and lobstering with his cousin Vern. After graduating from Medford High School, he traveled out to the Gemological Institute of America in CA to study and become a Graduate Gemologist before joining his father as a diamond buyer and growing DeScenza Diamonds with his brother in law Hugh MacIsaac. He was later joined in the business by many of his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews before retiring in 2010.
Fred was held in highest esteem by his vendors, customers, and friends. He was a gentle giant of a man, whose loyalty, integrity and kindness were legendary. He was a lifetime member of the Gemological Institute of America, and a member of the Diamond Dealers Club of NY, American Gem Trade Association, and DeBeers US Carat Club. He served on the Board of Directors for U.S. Trust, DeScenza Diamonds, Farmsteads of New England, and the Essex Historical Society and Shipbuilding Museum.
In addition to his love of the diamond business, his passions in life were skiing, gardening, boat building, vacationing with his family, stopping anywhere for ice cream, cold water ocean swims year round, travel, dancing with his beautiful wife, driving small convertible cars, and helping to found Farmsteads of New England, his daughter Deborah’s nonprofit organization to enhance the lives of young adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. Additionally, he was one of the first landowners on Leavitt Bay in Ossipee NH, where he built a log cabin at the age of 19 that is still enjoyed by 4 generations of family.
Fred will be missed dearly by his loving wife of 72 years, Shirley Tyler DeScenza, his children Sheryl DeScenza Tacy and her husband Kevin Tacy, Deborah DeScenza, Diane DeScenza Herth and her husband John Herth, Alison DeScenza Hodgman and her husband Lucian Hodgman, A Tyler DeScenza and his wife Suzann DeScenza, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved sisters Ethel M. DeScenza and Doris (DeScenza) MacIsaac.

A longtime resident of Haddonfield, NJ and beloved Associate Professor of Botany, resident of South Hamilton, MA since 2016 he is survived by his wife, Sue, as well as by their son and daughter and their families: Michael and Katherine Evans and granddaughters Noemi and Zora of Williamstown, Massachusetts, and Christine and Nathan Hribar, granddaughter Josephine and grandson Jacob of South Hamilton. He is also survived by his brother Rick. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Bob was his high school’s first American Field Service student and spent a summer in Lyons, France staying with a French family. During college he spent an academic year working for the National Science Foundation in Antarctica. He received his bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Dartmouth College and his master’s and Ph.D. degrees from The Ohio State University. In 1976 he and Sue moved to Haddonfield, NJ, and for 36 years he was employed by Rutgers University-Camden where he was a much loved Associate Professor of Botany and received several teaching awards. He enjoyed coaching his children’s sports teams as well as traveling with his family, and was active in Our Savior Lutheran Church in Haddonfield. He retired in 2011 and moved to Massachusetts to be closer to his four grandchildren. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.

An avid trading card collector, Chuck loved all Boston Sports, but the Red Sox had a special place in his heart. He would often take a trip down to Fort Myers to catch a few spring training games with his late friend Doc. As his sons Chuck and Matt grew up, he coached and umpired games for Salem Youth Sports.
Chuck loved to play golf as he was a member of the Scottish-American Golf League for 40 years, sharing his passion with his sons.
Music was also a big passion for Chuck. Some of his favorite artists were The Dave Matthews Band, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, and Crosby Stills Nash & Young. Beginning in 1985, you would often see him as an event DJ for many local celebrations and parties.
“Papa Chuck” as he was known by his loved ones, loved to cook, hosted the best cookouts and there was always music blaring in the background. When the warmer weather hit, you would often find him sitting on his back deck with his “Love Muffin” Mimi, enjoying a nice drink and listening to music or admiring his garden. He always enjoyed having his grandkids come over to help him pick the tomatoes.
Charles is survived by his wife, Mimi Hughes; two sons, Charles O’Neil and his wife, Jeannine of Gloucester; Matthew O’Neil and his partner, Alessandra Archer of Danvers; two brothers, J. Michael O’Neil and wife Lenore of Swampscott, David Willy O’Neil and wife Anne of Lynn; two sisters, Judy Smith, and her husband Wayne of Raymond, NH, Kathy Hagelbarger and her husband Eddie of Lynn; six grandchildren, Jordyn O’Neil, Matthew O’Neil Jr, Ava Soder, Charles O’Neil, Grace O’Neil, and Iris O’Neil and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one sister, Debbie Santos and her husband, Eddie.
Chuck was the happiest when he was surrounded by people he cared about. He leaves behind many friends from social clubs such as the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Salem, MA, Franco-American Club, Beverly, MA, Lafayette Associates, Salem, MA, and Spear Post, Beverly, MA.

Her love of softball continued through her adult life where she continued to play on many teams throughout the North Shore. She also coached the JV softball team at Beverly High for a time. Jennifer was highly energetic and friendly, she would talk to anyone and made friends everywhere she went. She touched everyone around her and left a lasting impact that will always be cherished by her loved ones.
She loved her job as a recycling supervisor at FW Russell Disposal, where she worked for many years before becoming a caretaker for her recently deceased Nana.
Jennifer is survived by her two brothers, Scott Hyland and his wife, Jenny of Leominster, Jason Hyland of Beverly, nieces: Ivy Hyland and Lyla Hyland and nephew, Dalton Hyland. She also leaves behind her maternal grandmother, Barbara MacDonald. Aunts and uncles: Michael and Janet MacDonald, Vincent and Alice Gaudenzi, Barbara Mercier and Sandra Moses. Jennifer also leaves her beloved dog, Mack.

Kevin was an avid Boston sports fan, particularly favoring the Celtics and Bruins. In his last days, Kevin was still sure to catch whatever game was on and root for his home teams. A hard worker, loving family member and all around kind man, Kevin will be remembered fondly as someone that would give you the shirt off of his back. The memories of his big smile and even bigger laugh will be something his loved ones will hold onto until we meet again.
Kevin is survived by his two children, his daughter, Marianne E. Clark of Salem, and his son, Michael J. Larocque of Beverly, as well as his siblings, Christine Clark of Beverly, Marie Clark of Beverly, James W. Clark and his wife Gerry (Silva) Clark of Beverly, Barbara (Clark) Noyes of Naples, Maine and Ronald Clark of Beverly. As well as many adored nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
