He was an avid chess player and loved fishing and skiing. He enjoyed playing all team sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Johanna, and his brother Walter.
Tom is survived by his sisters, Trudy Norton (Fred) and Mary Szczepanski (Tom), numerous nephews and a niece.

Obituary Preview: Mother Gail Nero daughter of the late James Freeman, Sr. and Maryland King was born August 21, 1942 in Salisbury, North Carolina. She relocated to New Jersey around 1963. The Lord called her home on April 24, 2024 with her family by her side.
Gail was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. John A. Gaines and New Destination Worship Center of Bishop James Gaines. Gail was employed with the State of New Jersey at the State House for 30 years as well as Skillman Institute and Standard Roofing for 27 years.
It is no secret that Gail was a jack of all trades. One day you might find her fixing her house, working in her yard, or even taking two people to work at the same time. You might also catch her in some very distinct head scarves, or wholly jeans but those were just a reflection of how hard she continued to work. Her most valuable trades were being an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother. She truly loved all her family the same. She even helped out with everyone’s significant others and didn’t hesitate to help the entire Hanover Street family as well. There was enough of Gail’s love to go around. Gail’s love is a testament to her faith and love of God. Some of the many things Gail loved were going to church, enjoying a movie and dinner with her husband, and uninterrupted TV time while watching her cowboys, and Perry Mason. Gail was very witty and feisty when need be. Some of her favorite sayings were, “now don’t you worry about it”, “now piss on you”, and “now, now, now.” Now, Gail don’t you worry about it we gon be alright down here.
In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by her loving husband and riding buddy, Albert Nero; a son, Scott Cauthen; and one brother, James Freeman, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories three sons and four daughters: Donald Cauthen (Lucy), Douglas Cauthen, Christopher Cauthen (Angela), Barbara Cauthen, Marita Cauthen, Dana Oyola (Irving), and Madeline Cauthen Lloyd (Paul); a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a few great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Rick and Gary; her dearest sister, Annie (Jackie); and other siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

By the early 1970’s, the family moved to Trenton, NJ. In 1996, John met the love of his life, Janice Ford, and they were married on January 16, 1999.
John worked for waste management for over 30 years – only retiring in 2020.
As a young man, he enjoyed playing basketball, lifting weights, working on cars, and racing cars with his family – it was certainly a family event.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Hobbs Sr.; brother, Donald Hobbs; and grandson, Tequan Harris.

On May 19, 1958, Louise was united in holy matrimony to the late James Davis. God blessed them with three children.

Linda Sue married Nathaniel Jackson on January 8, 1983, and there were two children born out of that union, Keyon Jackson and Natisha Bell.
Linda Sue was known for her family gatherings and trips, cooking and spending time with family. She enjoyed going on ski-trips and crab fests, doing scratch-offs and crossword puzzles during her spare time. Linda Sue was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, and her favorite basketball team was the LA Lakers.
She is predeceased by her parents, Eugene and Dorothy Rogers, and her brother, Willie Earl Rogers.
Linda Sue is survived by her two children, Keyon Rayshawn Jackson and Natisha Bell (husband, Shawn); grandchildren, Shawn (Dante) Bell, Jr and Sheyenne Bell; the father of her children, her siblings, godchildren, god-grandson, best friends of many years, special friends and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who she loved dearly.

William was born on July 08, 1949, to the late Lester Crowell and Estelle (Law) Crowell in Trenton, New Jersey. William was educated in the Trenton Public School System and graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1968. William was a very spiritual man and he was a member of the Christian faith known as Jehovah’s Witnesses attending the local Kingdom Hall when possible. It was his favorite thing to do.
William married Mary Crowell (Brown) on August 23, 1978 and from this union he had two children, Shanna Brown and Lester M. Crowell. He also had two elder children from a previous marriage, Chrystal McNeil and William A. Crowell II.
William worked as a draftsman for the New Jersey Department of Transportation and he loved his job. He retired after 43 years of dedicated service.
William enjoyed an occasional chess match, Philadelphia Eagles football game, listening to jazz music and going fishing. William had a great sense of humor even till his last breath.
In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by three brothers, Lester “Sonny”, James and Frederick Crowell; two sisters, Ella Payton and Myrtle Estelle White; three grandchildren, William A. Crowell III, Jasmine A. Crowell and Jordan Crowell.

In addition to her father, Taiwanna was predeceased by her grandmother, Loretta Tucker, uncles, Zachary Tucker, Andrew Johnson and Tracy Johnson; an aunt, Pamela Johnson and her best friend Kristine (Kandy) Freeney.
Taiwanna is survived by her children, Miquantiel (Quan), Shareik (Reik), Kiaje and Ajahna; . loving mother, Carmella Tucker; her sister, LaToya (Shane) Gainer, Tamara, LaCole and Shannon Johnson; two brothers, Gerald and Brent Johnson; aunts, Greta Tucker, Isabelle Tutt, Catherine White, Barbara Davis and Andrea Spencer; uncles, Derrick Tucker, Ronald Johnson, Darryl Johnson and Cedric Johnson; 12 grandchildren whom she called “Mena Babies” Jaya, Ja’Niyah, Jayelle, Ja’siyon, Shai’myr, Sha’leik, Na’vaeh, Azaria, Armani, Kai’Lyn, Kai’ya and A’Liyah the newest addition; close cousins, Ladeysha White, Bernadette Tutt-Dixon and Tammy Griffin; best friends whom were more like her sisters, Kinea, Kinya, Candy, Aimee and Melani; Taiwanna had a countless number of nephews, nieces, cousins way too many to name.

Melvin, affectionally known as “John” or “Spruill”, was born on September 10, 1951 to his loving parents, William and Doris Spruill in Ahoskie, North Carolina and relocated to Trenton, NJ at a young age. He was educated in the Trenton Public School System, including Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School (“Junior 1”) and Trenton Central High School. After graduating from high school in 1971, he continued his education and earned two Bachelor of Science degrees alongside numerous counseling certifications from New Jersey institutions.
Melvin worked in service for the entirety of his career. He was employed as a New Jersey Correctional Officer from 1975 to 1992. However, his most rewarding role was serving at Delaney Hall in Newark, NJ as the Deputy Director. Melvin took great pride in his role’s responsibilities as his everyday mission was guiding young men towards the right path of having another chance at freedom.
Melvin had an undeniable love for the Rhythm & Blues music genre, including Soul and Funk. Some of his all-time favorites were Billy Ocean, Teena Marie, and Kool & The Gang. He expressed this adoration through DJ’ing while entertaining many friends with laughter and dance. Melvin always discussed politics and was never shy about his disdain for Trump. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and basketball lover. In Melvin’s younger years, he was known as “Squirrel” on the neighborhood basketball courts for his high vertical leap.
He was preceded to heaven by his mother and father, William and Doris Spruill; four brothers, Anthony Jerome, Matthew, William Jr., and Lynwood Spruill; four sisters, Ethel Matthis, Harriet Caldwell, Doris Knight and Cassandra Spruill.

An enthusiastic card player and sports aficionado, Buddy was also renowned locally for his expertise as a tax preparer, serving the community faithfully for many years. He was an avid sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Boston Celtics, and the New York Yankees. Buddy had a charismatic and outgoing personality that endeared him to many, especially to the ladies he met throughout his life.
Buddy was a familiar face in the Trenton community, often seen attending services at different churches. Recently, he had started attending Friendship Baptist Church and shared his intentions of becoming a member of Creech Temple United Holy Church.

She worked as a CNA at Trenton State Hospital, as a Stenographer and Secretary at Trenton Skill Center and as a Secretary to the Superintendent of Trenton Board of Education (Night School). She retired, however, as a Child Care Provider. Jean was an avid reader and researcher of medicinal herbs. She loved to play cards, like 500 Rummy. She also loved to dance, write poetry, crochet and spend time with family and friends
In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her siblings: Betty Wise and Robert Wise (Janet). Jean is survived by her children: Diane Porter (Robert), Susan Swint, Crystal Swint, Robert “CC” Evans Jr.;

She was the fourth of nine children. Hazel and her siblings pride themselves as the Carolina nine because they were a very tight knit family. Hazel received her education in South Carolina, where she excelled in sports. She was a Majorette and a renowned athlete. While attending Loris Training High School and Finklea Community High School, she was named an All-American Point Guard.
Hazel was last employed by the Henry J. Austin Health Center located in Trenton, NJ where she made strides climbing the corporate ladder. Starting out as an IBM Key-Punch Operator, Medical Records Technician, and accomplishing many required studies to earn certifications to keep her job secure. She became a Mental Health Coordinator, which was a job she absolutely loved. She served her community and was respected and loved throughout the city all while being a single mother of six. She was tenacious and never showed signs of exhaustion. She was well known for loudly and proudly giving her voice of concern and support for many community causes.
Mother Hazel Lee Lattimer joined THE CHURCH AT HAMPTON, September 5, 2007, under the leadership of Pastor Michael J. Gray. She faithfully served as the Leader of the Mother’s Board for many years.
In addition to her parents, Mother Lattimer was predeceased by her husband, James C. Lattimer, two brothers, Dr. Leo Richardson and Alonzo Richardson; three sisters, Mary Etta Lewis, Doris Ann Richardson and Wanda Jackson-Hood; two sons-in-law, Russell A. Joyner and Gary L. Parker.
Mother Lattimer leaves to cherish precious memories, six children that she so deeply loved.
