Her professional life was characterized by a remarkable attention to detail and a commitment to excellence that left a lasting impression on her colleagues and those she served.
Beyond her work, Roberta was deeply involved in her community, most notably as the Kentucky State Director of MUFON, where her passion for the unexplained and the wonders of the universe found a welcoming home. Roberta's family was the cornerstone of her world. She was a cherished wife to her husband, Merrill Smith, and a loving mother to her children. Her sister, Susan Darlene Burchell, also preceded her in passing, but the family bonds remain strong through the generations. Roberta's spirit continues to thrive in the lives of her step grandchildren Bethany, and Dakota Brock. Two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Elliott, and her two step grand-kids Blakeleigh, and Bentley, who will carry forward the memories and values she instilled in them.
Those who knew Roberta will remember her as a woman of great intellect, someone who could engage in meaningful conversation on a variety of topics. Her warmth, wisdom, and the twinkle in her eye when she spoke of her passions will be dearly missed.
As we bid farewell to Roberta Faye Smith, we reflect on a life well-lived, a journey marked by love, curiosity, and a profound appreciation for the beauty around us. Obituaries serve as a way to inform friends, family, and community members of a person's passing, allowing them to pay their respects and offer condolences. They also provide a permanent record of a person's life and legacy.

Who typically writes an obituary?

The task of writing an obituary usually falls to the family members or close friends of the deceased. In some cases, a funeral home or mortuary may assist with writing the obituary.
