Lidia was known as a “Jack of all trades.” Being self-employed for years, she worked in construction and could fix almost anything. Lidia was a gourmet chef, she loved to travel the world but most of all, she lived for her family.
Wife of the late Ceferino Antonio Martinez; devoted and loving mother of Jose Antonio Seabra Martinez and his wife Rosa, Jeronimo Seabra Martinez, and Ceu Guilhermina Martinez; dear sister of Fernanda Seabra Ramos of Portugal; Lidia is predeceased by 7 siblings; cherished grandmother of Jessica Da Cunha Martinez and her husband Oscar, Stephanie Martinez Ray and her husband Sean and Lidia Martinez Rojas; great-grandmother of Beckam, Khyla, Scarletrose, Charlotte and Logan; also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Teresa's life was a beautiful symphony of passion and culture. Born in Cuba in 1941, she arrived in the United States in 1968, making her home in the Ironbound Section of Newark, NJ, and later in White Plains, NY. Her mastery of classical piano and her love for classic cinema reflected her deep appreciation for the arts, enriching the lives of all who knew her.
Professionally, Teresa excelled as an Assistant to the President at Texaco Oil, where her dedication and competence left an indelible mark. Her impeccable dress, good manners, and insatiable intellectual curiosity endeared her to everyone she encountered. Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Verona Fernandez, and her beloved husband, Anthony Guerra. She leaves behind a cherished legacy embraced by her nieces Mercedes Fernandez, Judy Stern, Barbara Bove Ulness and Verona Crespo, as well as her grandnephews Evan Stern and Kevin Walsh. She was predeceased by her sister Dora Grillo
Cintra. She is survived by her sister, Lia Bove, and brother, Jose Fernandez.
A wake and funeral service for Teresa will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 8:30am - 10am at at the Buyus Funeral Home 426 Lafayette Street., at Wilson Avenue, Newark, NJ 07105. Thence to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church., where at 10:30am, a Christian Burial Mass will be offered.  Teresa will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
Teresa Fernandez Guerra will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Her legacy of elegance, passion, and intellectual curiosity will continue to inspire generations to come.

Jose enjoyed what he did and was always willing to give a helping hand and was known as the “handyman” by all the local Sports Clubs. He enjoyed his cartoons, morning coffee and cooking for family and friends. He will be sorely missed.

Pires Carvalho and the late Manuel De Carvalho; beloved husband of Maria Rosa Dos Santos Carvalho; devoted and loving father of Celeste Carvalho, Nicole Carvalho and Joseph Carvalho; dear brother of Odete Carvalho, Isabel Capriola Rocha, Maria Benedita Ventura and Maria Jose Carvalho; son-in-law of Fernanda Dos Santos and the late Antonio Carvalho; brother-in-law of Joaquim Carvalho; also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Obituary Preview: Maria Graciete (nee Morais) dos Santos, 86, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, in New York. She was born in Portugal, emigrated to North America in the early 1960s and settled in Kearny, N.J.
Daughter of the late Manuel Morais and Idalina Figueiredo; beloved wife of Uranio dos Santos; devoted and loving mother of Grace dos Santos; cherished grandmother of Genevieve Grace; and sister of the late Manuel Antonio Morais and Maria Helena Cruz. Graciete is also survived by her sister-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many other dear family and friends.
Graciete was an extraordinary woman. She was a devoted child of God, a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an aunt, a friend, a devout parishioner, and a community leader and participant. She took all of her roles to heart, and she strove to honor, support, guide, and protect the people she met.
Her devotion to her family was the foundation of her actions and the anchor that defined and shaped her life, as well as her Catholic religion and faith in God.
Graciete loved spending time with people and she devoted herself to serving others and the Church. She attended mass on a daily basis, was a lector at Igreja Nossa Senhora de Fatima and a Eucharistic Minister at Igreja Nossa Senhora de Fatima and St. Cecilia Church in Kearny, including leading parishioners in reciting the rosary. Graciete was a member of the choir at Igreja Nossa Senhora de Fatima and St. Cecilia Church.
Graciete also volunteered for many groups and organizations to raise needed funds for the community, including at St. Cecilia Church where she was a member of Os Filhos de Maria and of the Comissão da Nossa Senhora de Fatima. She also volunteered to cook for and feed the Portuguese senior citizens at the adult daycare center that had been affiliated with Nossa Senhora de Fatima Church.
Graciete loved to dance, travel, and spend time with her family and friends. An excellent cook, one of her favorite things to do was to bring people together for lunch and dinner parties, and enjoy everyone’s company. As a respected citizen and hardworking woman, she led by example, and in that way was an inspiration to all.
The wake for Graciete will be held on Thursday, April 18, from 6-8pm at the Buyus Funeral Home, 426 Lafayette Street, at Wilson Avenue, Newark, NJ 07105.
The Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, April 19, at 10:30am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Newark. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ.

Jandyra had a beautiful smile and an incredibly generous heart. Her quick-witted humor was legendary to all that to all who knew her. Nothing in the world was ever more important to her than her husband, her son and his wife, and her dearly beloved grandchildren.
Her heart was always open to all those in need. She never refused to help friends and those she had just met alike. She will be dearly missed.

Beloved husband of 51 years of Domingas De Oliveira Barbosa Alcada; devoted and loving father of Annabel Barbosa Alcada Figueiredo and her husband Paulo Jorge and their son Alexander, Diane Barbosa Alcada and Natalia Soares Carvalho and her husband Augusto and their children Jason and Justin; dear brother of Fernando Silva Alcada; uncle of Ryan and Rachel Nicole.
Arthur’s passing on the final day of his 71st year of life was the culmination of who he was as a person. He always finished what he started, as leaving something undone was simply not part of his character. He battled cancer for 17 years and during that time he never gave up on life, his loved ones, or his work. A true pillar of inspiration to all who were blessed to witness his life on this Earth. His family had the highest honor of loving and caring for him until his very last breath, completing his final wish to depart from this world surrounded by those who loved him the most. He will undoubtedly continue to protect and guide his family from Heaven. Now that he is free of physical form, his love will be truly limitless as many of us have always known it to be.

Obituary Preview: Jose “Ze Vareiro” Tavares Campos, 77, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Fox Trail Memory Care Living in Green Brook, NJ. He was born in Murtosa, Portugal on June 13, 1946 and emigrated to the US at the age of 20,  settling in the  Ironbound Section of Newark. Joe and his family moved to Kearny in 1976 and then Brick, NJ in 2001, before moving to Palm Coast, FL in 2013 and then returning to NJ in 2020.
Almost immediately after arriving in the United States, Joe began working for J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, where he spent his entire career before retiring as a Superintendent in 2007 after 41 years of service. He was a proud member of the Heavy and General Construction Laborers Local 472 since 1966 and long time member of the Sport Maritimo Murtoense, both of Newark. Joe was an avid Sporting (SCP) soccer and New York Rangers hockey fan. He was a skillful handyman and always enjoyed working on various home improvement projects. Joe and Maria loved to travel and explore, often by cruise ship to places like Hawaii, Alaska and the Panama Canal, but their favorite destination was always on a beach with the family.
Joe and his late wife Maria De Lourdes (De Matos) Campos were married on November 1, 1969. Devoted and loving father of Robert Campos, his wife Addie and their children Krizia and Joshua and granddaughter Lauren, Natalie Tarnacki, her husband George and their children Elly, Grace and RJ, and Joseph Campos, his wife Stephanie and their children Jacob, Olivia, Molly and Caroline; dear brother of Maria Do Carmo Barroqueiro, her late husband Gualter and cherished “Uncle Joe” to Brian, Mark, Suzanne and their families. Joe is also survived by many other dear family and friends.

She was the cherished grandmother of Daniel and Jessica Fazendeiro, and Juliana Burke. She will be missed by her many admiring nieces and nephews.
