Mel is the son of Melvin V. Renkey and Louise Schwarzkopf of Belle Vernon, PA. He was an fun-loving, honest man who loved his family and friends and would go out of his way to help any and all who knew him. He loved golf and never passed up an opportunity to play whenever and wherever he could. He especially looked forward to the annual JFK Classic and getting together with friends. His work life crossed many paths from steel mill to finance in 5 different states. Retiring too early he joined a small Community Management company in Myrtle Beach and was a Property Manager until his second retirement in 2016. He enjoyed repairing and remodeling and upgraded many homes during his life.

Mel is survived by his wife, Maria of 38 years, son Eric of Pittsburgh, PA, daughter Melanie Wadlow (Greg) of Wexford, PA, their mother, Marilyn Renkey and Granddaughters Josie, Kylie and Maisy Wadlow of Wexford, PA; Sisters Betty Martin (Doi'!) of Hendersonville, NC, Marylou Katz (David) of Pittsburgh, PA and Linda Ringstad of Apex, NC; sister-in-law Elena Perri. He was pre-deceased by his sister Barbara Weston and a baby son, Earl.

The family's thanks the staff, nurses and aides of Amedisys Home Health Care, Agape Care Hospice and especially all the wonderful people at Embrace Hospice House in Myrtle Beach for the tender care and emotional support they provided along our journey.

Alan Francis McAllister - April 28, 1953 - April 22, 2022

Obituary Preview: Alan Francis McAllister, 68,of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina passed away on April 22, 2022,at Grand Strand Medical Center under the care of Agape Hospice due to complications from kidney disease. He was surrounded with love in his final days, supported by his wife, Gretchen McAllister, son, Ryan McAllister, and daughter, Jennifer McAllister.

Alan was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 28, 1953, to the late Miriam Vaughn McAllister and the late Francis Joseph “Mac” McAllister. Alan lived in Astoria, New York until the family moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1955.Alan was a talented athlete and enjoyed spending days playing with his friends in Westview Park. Although he was skilled at baseball, swimming, and soccer, he excelled at basketball .He loved cheering on the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Colts at Memorial Stadium, and treasured an autograph from Alan Ameche, a Colts’ Fullback, carrying it in his wallet for many years. After the Colts left the city in 1984, Alan adopted the Baltimore Ravens as his football team, spending Sundays watching the team while simultaneously wishing the Colts would come back home. Outside of sports, Alan adored spending time with his father at his business, Davis Marine Supplies, Inc, in the Baltimore harbor, restocking supplies on ships and completing lifeboat safety inspections.

Alan attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia from 1971 to 1975, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with minors in Business and History. Alan easily navigated academia and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society. During his freshman year, he was a walk-on to University of South Carolina’s NCAA Division One basketball team. One of his favorite stories to tell was when the coach put him into his one and only game in the final minutes. The coach told him not to touch the ball, so, to ensure he made it into the box score, he fouled the player closest to him.

Following graduation, Alan was offered a position as graduate assistant at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, which he declined. Instead, he started working within the rapidly developing fields of information technology and software development, experimenting with and exploring emerging computer technologies. Although he held numerous different jobs over the years, he always spoke fondly of his time as a Senior Project Manager at McCormick & Company in Baltimore from 1984 to 1997. His final position before retirement was with American Chemical Society in Washington, D.C., where he served as the Assistant Director of Enterprise Application Development from 2005 to 2019.

Although he was a highly accomplished and beloved manager, nothing made Alan prouder than the life and family he built with his wife of 40 years, Gretchen. Alan and Gretchen met in Maryland in 1981 and, according to Alan, he loved her the moment he saw her. After six weeks, he proposed, and they married nine months later on April 3, 1982. They started their journey together in a small duplex in Pasadena, Maryland before moving to Severna Park, Maryland in 1984 to raise their two children, Ryan and Jennifer. Alan was an amazing father, unequivocally supporting both children as they navigated school and their varied interests. His children inherited his athletic prowess, and he never missed one of Ryan’s lacrosse games or Jenn’s dance performances. He also coached Ryan in lacrosse and basketball for years. After Alan retired from work in June 2019, he and Gretchen followed their decades long dream of returning to the warmth of South Carolina. Alan spent his final years relaxing on the beach, basking in the sunshine, and spending Fridays with his beloved Gretchen and dog Maggie watching HGTV.

Although Alan battled illness throughout his life, he never let that get in the way of his passions and interests. He acquired his scuba certification and encouraged both of his children to do the same. Alan also relished family vacations and spent many summers relaxing in Myrtle Beach, exploring the islands of the Caribbean, and adventuring on cruises, including a spectacular trip to the Mediterranean Sea. He enjoyed reading a good Clive Cussler book, delving into history, and utilizing his superb writing skills to write countless letters to the editor for local papers. Regardless, family was always Alan’s top priority, and he loved spending time with his 18-month-old grandson, Carson. His final trip was to Ryan’s home in Seattle in November 2021, where he was able to create invaluable memories with his whole family celebrating Thanksgiving.

In spite of facing multiple health challenges, Alan was a true warrior until the end. His positive outlook was infectious, his humor unmatched, and his intelligence inspiring. Alan’s legacy will be carried on by his wife, Gretchen; son, Ryan Francis McAllister, daughter-in-law, Nina, and grandson, Carson of Seattle, Washington; and daughter, Jennifer Ann McAllister of Chicago, Illinois. He is also survived by his sister, Catherine M Jarmon of San Angelo, Texas and a brother, Brian J McAllister, of Eldersburg, Maryland.

A memorial service will be held on April 27, 2022 at 10 AM EST at Burroughs Funeral Home (3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576). A link to the live stream will be available at www.burroughs.com approximately 10 minutes before the service time.

He will be laid to rest at a private ceremony in Maryland at a later date.

James Edward Thomas Reed - May 26, 1933 - April 21, 2022

Obituary Preview: James Edward Thomas Reed, 88, better known as “Eddie” was the fourth of six children of Jimmy and Grace Reed and their only son.

Adored and spoiled by his five sisters, he had a charmed life. Born on May 26, 1933 in Jay, Maine, he learned to speak French before English and whizzed through school, skipping two grades. He graduated from Livermore Falls High School in 1950 and then attended college at a Military Academy, Norwich University in Norwich, Vermont. At Norwich he was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity, Alpha Chapter, he played several sports and made many lifelong friends. After graduation from Norwich in 1954, he joined the Army and served as a First Lieutenant. He was stationed at Fort Drum in Watertown, New York where he met his first true love, a petite, shy, little Italian girl, Nancy DeCilles. They were married on September 7, 1959. After getting stuck in the snow one too many times, Eddie said, “That’s it, I’m moving to California!” So they did and the journey began.

Starting in 1960, they had three children in a row, Dannie, Jimmy, and Bobby and then in 1969 Michelle came along to complete the family… all born in California. As he built his career as a business executive, he worked at Fairchild, the first business in what would later become the Silicon Valley. The 70’s would take him back to the East Coast in the great state of Florida where he worked for General Electric and settled in the beautiful town of Keystone Heights. After nearly a decade in Florida and faced with the prospect of having three kids in college at once he took on a new and more prosperous position with The Allen Group as a Vice President of Operations and once again moved the family, this time to Dalton, Ohio in the heart of Amish Country. He was most proud of the fact that all four children were able to graduate from the same high school. In the late 80’s, more changes were to come; A transfer to Connecticut and an early retirement to Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

By this time Dannie, his oldest daughter had moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, married Eric Eiler and was starting her family. In 1988, his first grandchild, Travis Eiler was welcomed into the world. Quickly following were Jim’s marriage to Robin Hagen and Bob’s marriage to Maureen Hogan. By 1993, he and Nancy had five grandchildren, Dannie with 3 boys, Jimmy with their first and only granddaughter and Bobby with the first grandson to carry on the family name. But as life would have it, tragedy struck when Nancy suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. The next four years were tough and lonely until he met Sharron Davis. She brought him back to life and they spent the last 24 years together. It was truly a blessing that he was able to find love again. They spent almost 20 years in Clearwater, Florida until he had a stroke and at that time they made the decision to move back to Myrtle Beach where Michelle had also settled with her husband James Smith. In 2011, his family had another tragedy when his oldest grandchild, Travis was killed while serving as a missionary in Kazakhstan at the young age of 23. Eddie’s last five years in Myrtle Beach were a blessing to all, as many wonderful family get togethers and memories were made.

He is survived by his four children, Danielle Eiler (Eric) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, James K. Reed (Robin) of Akron, Ohio, Robert Reed (Maureen) of Wallingford, Connecticut and Michelle Smith (James) of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina and his bonus daughter, Terri Smokovich (George) of Ambridge, Pennsylvania. He was known as Pepere (pronounced PePay) which is French for Grandpa and will be greatly missed by his 16 grandchildren, some with spouses, Corbin Eiler (Brandie), Austin Eiler (Renee), Jenna Horner (Adam), Jaclyn Reed (Tyler), & James Edward Reed II, Brendan, Connor, Katie & Keera Reed, Heather Price (Jonathan), Brittany Vaughan (Kat), Kyndell & Kasey Smith, Adam & Noah Smokovich, 5 great grandchildren, Cameron, Cooper & Carson Eiler and Abigail & Makenna Eiler that will all cherish their memories with him. In addition, he is survived by one sister, Jeanine Wilkins (Hersey), of Turner, Maine, and two sisters-in-law Rosetta DeCilles of Dexter, New York, and Sharon DeCilles Van de Wiele (Leon) of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, and numerous nieces and nephews all across the country.

Eddie was very involved in life and he never met a stranger! He was a lifelong Catholic, a Veteran and a diehard Boston Red Sox fan. He traveled the world, became an avid golfer, served on the Petaluma, California Library Board and the Dalton City Council. He coached his boys in baseball, was President of many organizations such as the Petaluma Jaycees, the Keystone Country Club, the VFW, and many other groups. A local service will be held Sunday, April 24th at Burroughs Funeral Home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina at 4:30 pm with Father Ed from St. Michael’s Catholic Church officiating. The service will be live streamed. A link will be available on this website 5 minutes prior to the start of the service. Burial will be in the Dalton Cemetery in Dalton, Ohio on June 4th  with military honors and as requested by Eddie himself, a party to celebrate his life will be held at The Pines Country Club in Orrville Ohio on June 4th at 5 pm. All are invited!

Judy Colgate - October 11, 1952 - April 20, 2022

Obituary Preview: Judy Banks Colgate, 69, affectionately known as “Nana” went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 20, 2022 following a courageous battle with Cancer.

Judy was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all that knew her.  Judy was born October 11th, 1952, in Horry County S.C. Judy married her high school sweetheart and soul mate, James Thomas Colgate on July 9th, 1971. Judy worked as a City Clerk for the city of Lowell NC for 21 years before retiring in 2014.  Judy loved life and spread happiness wherever she went. She had faith that could move mountains and did move several! Judy enjoyed trips to the beach, craft shows, crocheting, cooking and most of all, spending time with her family.

Judy leaves behind her husband of 50 years, James Thomas Colgate, sons James Thomas Colgate II (Amy) Christopher Martin Colgate (Shellie), daughter, Kendal Colgate Bowers (Tanner), Her mother, Dean Sanders, Brothers, Ford Sanders, and Randy Banks. Judy was cherished by her grandchildren, Madison & Caroline Colgate, Payton Neal, Jackson, Weston & Kaelynn Bowers, Megan Smith (Jeremiah) Austin Bowen (Tori), and Great Grandchildren, Wes & Jax Bowen and Everette Smith. Judy also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Judy was proceeded in death by her father, Billy West Banks and Stepfather, Lloyd Ford Sanders, brother, James Russell Banks, sisters, Gloria B. Chiarilli and Terron S. Holliday and In Laws, Samuel and Virginia Colgate.

There will be a graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery, 1000 SC-544, Conway, SC 29526 on Saturday April 23, 2022 at 1:30PM.

She was born on July 7, 1954 in Chincoteague, Maryland to the late Oliver Thomas Beauchamp & Ivadell Ruth Horner Beauchamp.

Along with her parents, Kathy is reunited in passing with her sister, Leslie Potts and brother in-law, Robert Pickering.

Kathy was loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a true animal lover who handled every cat, dog, ferret, fish or bird with respect and compassion. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling and camping with her family. The collector that she was, Kathy enjoyed shopping for unique additions to her collections. Above all else, Kathy loved her family with her whole heart. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her zest for life, love for her family and her daily naps.

After graduating from Siena College John soon married his high school sweetheart, Maura Keenan, to whom he was married for 58 years.  John was a salesman and entrepreneur who started and successfully ran several companies in the consumer products industry.  He enjoyed tennis, boating, travelling, spending time with his family, good food & drink and ‘discussing’ politics and current events.  John was an active member of the Catholic Church, most recently at St. Michael Church in Murrells Inlet, SC. John is survived by his wife Maura, children Katie, John (Christine) & Michael (Christine) and 5 grandchildren Matthew, Kevin, Lydia, Mary & Elana.  He was predeceased by his two sisters Joan Barry and Alice Bealey

Obituary Preview: Charles “Chucky” E. Timmons, Jr., 47, passed away unexpectedly in Myrtle Beach on Wednesday April 20, 2022. He was born on February 18, 1975 in Georgetown, South Carolina.

Chucky proudly served our country in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he went on to become a skilled and dedicated motorcycle mechanic for many years. When Chucky wasn’t enjoying the wind on his face, he could be found meticulously tending to his garden, specifically his roses. Chucky enjoyed working with his hands on his many projects and had a passion for old cars and rat rods. He was an avid Gamecocks fan. Above all else, Chucky loved his family with his whole heart- his children and wife were his entire world. Chucky will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for the love he had for his family, this passion for motorcycles, his infectious laughter and bright smile.

Ted was born to the late Stuart & Blanch Royall on October 8, 1937 in Clinton, NC. As a young man he excelled in many sports and found a deep passion for football at Duke University and in the NFL.

Ted and his wife Linda raised four children. He built a career in Insurance, Real Estate and Construction for four decades. As a founding member of Epworth United Methodist Church, he served faithfully in the church and in the community through public service.

He is survived by his sister Peggy, his children Kelly, Jennifer, Kristy and Stuart; his grandchildren Price, Kathryn, Sarah, Jeremiah, Alex and Sydney; and his great granddaughter Millie. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Linda and brother John Alvin.

Tom was a hardworking man with a heart of gold. He retired from the State of New York and moved with Carol to Surfside Beach, SC, where they had a home for over 25 years. Tom relished time making memories with his family. He will be deeply missed.

Melvin proudly served our country in the United States Air Force for over 21 years and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He graduated from Rutledge Collage with a Bachler’s Degree in Marketing and finance. Following his honorable discharge from the military, Melvin worked as a restaurant manager in Atlanta. In his free time, Melvin loved playing golf and making memories with family and friends. He was a member of Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church, locally. Melvin will be deeply missed.

Donna had a big heart as she had so much love to give and to share with so many. Very socially engaged, she loved reaching out to so many and to her special interests and various ministries. She was a very active member of The Church of the Resurrection, Surfside, where she co-chaired Angel Threads, which assembles layettes for disadvantaged new mothers, for the last 15 years and was Greeter captain. She also was involved in causes to protect our local architectural standards and quality of life. She made her mark in this life and brought joy to many.

Donna was survived by her husband Ron, sons Kevin (Sheila) and Keith (Jeanette), her sister, Sue (Keith), so-much-loved grandchildren Patrick, Kristen, Derrick, Kelly and Keira, nieces Joanne (Rod), Kyra (Dell), Kristen (Myles) and Karla (Grady), and nephew Glenn (Lori).

Greg "Debo" Dean Tarte - May 30, 1969 - April 08, 2022

Obituary Preview: Greg "Debo" Tarte died on Friday April 8, shortly before his 53rd birthday.

A Myrtle Beach native, he graduated from Myrtle Beach High School, attended Lees McRae College on a football scholarship, and went on to a career with R.H. Moore Construction. He was an incredibly outgoing and big-hearted man known as a "gentle giant" who was quick to crack a joke to make people smile. An avid race, Carolina Gamecocks, and Myrtle Beach Seahawks fan. He was also a master chef of chicken bog, he will be deeply mourned (and celebrated) by family and friends, particularly as his death was so unexpected.

Debo was predeceased by his parents, Cliff and Joyce Tarte; his best friend, Robert "Smoke" Rogers and a dog he loved like family, Ryder.

He is survived by his brother, Cliff "Tiger" (Beverly) Tarte, his sister, Robin (Ray) Causey, and nieces and nephews: Morgan Causey Pierce (Josh Pierce), Jay and Jackson Causey, Justin (Kayla) Reitz and their children, Madelyn and Levi and Joshua Tarte. He is also survived by special friends Kaela Rogers, Brian Walker, Alicen Walker, Stacey Hennis, Anthony "Pye" Lawson, Stacey Marlowe, Kim Martin, Jerry Wiseman, the Danny Kelly family, and a beloved group of friends at Barnacle Bills Rum & Raw Bar in Myrtle Beach.

He loved devotedly and relished being the life of every party. He was often heard quoting the George Strait song, "I'm not here for a long time; I'm just here for a good time." Sadly, his motto has become true.

Obituary Preview: Phillip Henry Sessions was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on February 16, 1954, and left this world, to be with our Lord on April 8, 2022. Henry was surrounded by his loving wife, Johnna, his beautiful daughter, Bailey, and their ever faithful pet, Poncho, as he peacefully entered into the welcoming arms of Jesus.

Henry was not only a faithful, caring husband, and loving father, he was also kindhearted, humble, and a handsome “gentle” giant. He was always joking, had a pleasant smile on his face, and was always ready to help someone in need. He loved music and took pride in playing his guitar. Henry also loved to haul seine fish while spending quality time with his family on 29th Avenue in Myrtle Beach. Henry was a faithful member of the Myrtle Beach Christian Church for 26 years, the same church where he married his wife, Johnna in September of 1996. Henry had a zest for carpentry. He was a self-employed carpenter, and was later employed by Lowes Home Improvements in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for five years. Henry was always eager to share his talents for the Lord whilst helping his church family with any carpentry needs.

Henry is survived by his wife Johnna Sessions, daughter Bailey Sessions, father-in-law Johnny E. Joyce, mother-in-law Joan Joyce, brother-in-law Chad Nelson, sister-in-law Marla Nelson, and niece Salem Nelson. Also, brother Jimmy Sessions and wife Jo, nephew OIin Butler and wife Tracy, great nieces Hallie and Mirah, nephew Johnny Butler and wife Kim, brother-in-law Barry LaFavor and niece Tonya Bellamy. He is preceded in death by his father A.C. Sessions, mother Hallie Flowers Titmus, sister Judy Butler, and sister Joyce LaFavor.

Henry was loved by many and he will truly be missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the Myrtle Beach Christian Church located at 1226 Burcale Road, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579. Gathering of friends and family will be from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A service will be held at 2:00 pm with a graveside service to follow, at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery, Myrtle Beach, SC.

Ray was born in Neptune, NJ on January 27, 1938 to the late Harriet and Chester Davison.

After graduating High School in Freehold, NJ, he joined the Navy and was stationed at Lakehurst, NJ.  After 3 years in the Navy, he left to work with IBM on Project Mercury and Gemini in Bermuda, at Goddard Space Center in Greenbelt, MD and Cape Canaveral, FL.

Ray enjoyed time with family and friends, playing cards with neighbors, and traveling with his family on cruises and several bus tours in Europe.  He was always laughing and smiling and really enjoyed keeping in touch with friends and family across the country.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret “Peggy” Saker (George) of Freehold, NJ and Aunt Ann Sherman Wall of Chestertown, MD.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Margot of 58 years; daughter, Tracey and son Scott (Diana) all residing in Murrells Inlet, SC; nephew, Glenn Saker (Patty) of Manasquan, NJ; niece, Angie Adlington (Gary) of Highland, MD and nephew, Doug Dotson (Nancy) of Watertown, NY; great nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn (Adam), Alex (Jessi), Conner (Kacie), Laurie, Kari, Sarah and Jessica (Keith).

Jack was born on December 9, 1946 to Vincent “Jim” and Lillian Falco, in the Bronx, NY, where he was raised along with his sister, Barbara.

Jack proudly served in the US Army and after his return home he later married his wife, Stella, on July 19, 1975. Jack worked for Verizon for over 35 years until retiring.

After retiring, he and Stella moved to Murrells Inlet, SC with their dog, Guido, where they enjoyed many wonderful years and cherished memories together.

Jack loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, woodworking, music and time with family. He will always be remembered as a quiet, kind, humble, hardworking, and silly man, and will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Jack is survived by his wife of 46 years, Stella Falco, his son and son-in-law, Justin and Ralph Bernardo, his daughter and son-in-law, Kerri and Antonio Amato, and his grandchildren, Jillian and Christian Amato, and Lorenzo “Enzo” Bernardo, and his cherished nieces, nephews and longtime friends.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents Jim and Lillian Falco, his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Lyn Sullivan, and his beloved dogs Cleo, Kneesa and Guido.

A memorial service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held at a later date.

He was born on April 19, 1958.  John grew up in Fayetteville, NC, a town he loved and where he graduated from South View Senior High School in 1977. He then moved to Carolina Beach, NC where he was a Firefighter and served with Search and Rescue. John owned his own Construction Company in Wilmington, NC. He enjoyed Nascar and collecting Nascar memorabilia. He also loved to eat Pop Pop's BBQ.  John will be dearly missed and always remembered.

John was predeceased by his father, John J. Sorge and mother Claramae Debbie Sorge, both of Myrtle Beach, SC.  He is survived by his sister Debbie Sorge Flinchum of Myrtle Beach, SC, a brother Greg Sorge of Conway, SC, three nieces he dearly loved, Amanda Faircloth (Dan Miller), Candice Faircloth (Adam Saunier) and Miranda Flinchum. He leaves behind four precious great nieces, Alivia Miller, Haven Flinchum, Alexis Miller and Addison Saunier.

John requested a celebration of life be held in his honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. Albert "Bert" Arthur Snow - March 27, 1947 - April 05, 2022

He was the son of the late Albert "Al" Arthur Snow and Helen Marie Stenstrom. Beloved husband for 54 years of Nancy Snow.  Father of Scott (Tracy) Snow, Michelle (Kevin) Anderson and Bret (Hayley) Snow.  Devoted Grandfather to Arielle, Nathan, Cameron, Sean and Ryan.  Also survived by his mother Jeanette Melberg, brother Dana Melberg, sister Donna Shortall, three nieces and five nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Harold Melberg.

Bert was born in Quincy, and raised in Dorchester, Massachusetts.  He also lived in Brockton and South Easton, Massachusetts, Frederick and Deep Creek, Maryland, and Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.

He was a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology and Northeastern University.  He worked for Boston Edison Company and Bechtel. He was a Civil Engineer and Purchasing Manager.

From a young age, Bert enjoyed fishing.  He spent a good portion of his spare time fishing in any lake, stream, River or ocean he could find.  He enjoyed sailing, relaxing and puttering around at his cottage on Onset Island, Massachusetts.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, and many close family friends that became family.

A celebration of life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on April 23, 2022 at The First Baptist Church, 3891 U.S. 17 Bypass, Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. There will be a small get-together at the church after the service. All friends and family are welcome to arrive as early as 10:00 a.m. to sign the guest book and visit with the family. Following his honorable discharge, George went on to work for Eastern Airlines for 40 years, doing quality control. Upon George’s well-deserved retirement, he was able to enjoy the finer things in life. In his free time, George enjoyed golfing and tinkering with his many wood-working projects. Above all else, George loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed.

Obituary Preview: Kenneth Arthur Briggs, age 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 2, 2022 at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Kenneth was born March 25, 1946 in Framingham, MA., son of the late William J.  and Helen Stevens Briggs.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth was pre-deceased by a son, Paul Joseph “P.J.” Briggs who passed away on October 7, 1993.

Ken proudly served his country in the United States Army. He loved all sports, including the game of golf and played as often as possible. As a young man in Framingham, Ken lived near a lake that froze solid every year.  There, he learned to ice skate, but most importantly, he learned to love ice hockey.  Ken was very passionate about the Washington Capital Ice Hockey Team during his lifetime and proudly worked as their Zamboni driver.  Ken loved to travel; his favorite destinations included Key West, Florida and Maine.  He was a huge Jimmy Buffet fan and saw him in concert over 10 times.  Ken will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

In her free time, and while with Campbell’s, Margaret was a member of their bowling league and was an active member of the Turkey Creek Bridge Club. She also relished time spent making memories with family and friends. Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She will be deeply missed.
