Obituary Preview: Alfred L. Morgan, 89, of Salem, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Harrison County on September 20, 1934, a son of the late Willard Morgan and Dorethea Wright Morgan.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Pauline “Polly” Morgan, on May 9, 2013.
He is survived by his companion, Ilene Paugh.
He is survived by his daughter, Janice (Morgan) Fury, and her companion Richard Ahlgrim, of West Union; and a great-grandson, Max (M.J.) Fury. Also surviving are three step-children, Barbara Utter of Morgantown; Regina Gain and her husband Dwight of Salem; Donald Cottrill of Clarksburg; and a step-daughter-in-law, Marsha Cottrill of Salem; seven step-grandchildren, Kimberly Brunett and her husband Sam of Fairmont; Mike Gain of Salem; Sheila Adams and her husband Bobby of Morgantown; Ernie Utter and his wife Shani, Grafton; Kevin Utter of Morgantown; Jennifer Grimes and her husband Matt of Reynoldsville; and Greg Cottrill; and 12 step-great-grandchildren. Three sisters, Roberta Chapman and her husband Greg; Francis Parilac and her husband John; and Doris Ball; and several nieces and nephews complete his family.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki Jo Morgan; granddaughter, Donnah Fury; son-in-law, Willard (Tom) Fury; step-son, Roger Cottrill; step-son-in-law, James Utter; nephew, Steven Chapman; brother, Chester Morgan and his wife Ruth; his mother-in-law, Sylvia Nicholas; and his brother-in-law, Wallace (Buck) Nicholas and his wife Deloris.
Alfred served in the US Army from 1957 – 1959, and served in the Army Reserves from 1959- 1965. He worked with the Harrison County Board of Education starting in 1969 as a bus driver, and retired as a mechanic in 1996.

Obituary Preview: Henry “Hank” Eugene Rainbolt, III, 78, of Clarksburg, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. He was born on June 11, 1945, in Kingsville, TX, a son of the late Henry E. Rainbolt, Jr. and Harlene Ruth (Laws) Rainbolt.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elma Jean “Jeanne” (Lowther) Rainbolt, on May 8, 2013.
He is survived by two sisters, Katherine and her husband Pastor Michael Harris; and Mary and her husband Francisco Caraballo, all of Texas; 2 nieces and 3 nephews; and Jeanne’s nieces and nephews, Karen and Eugene Waugh of Ohio; Joy and Buddy Bell of SC; George Lowther of Bridgeport; and Michael Lowther of Clarksburg.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Harlan Rainbolt.
Hank was a graduate of University of Tulsa, and held various jobs including being a math teacher and working with Valley Supply. He also served in the US Army.
He was a loving husband to Jeanne. He was an avid runner, and kind to all animals, being a member of PETA. He was also a member of the Native American Veterans Assistance Group, and a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of the Church of the Living God, Morgantown.

Obituary Preview: Stephen B. Withers, 81, of Grafton, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 16, 2024, in the United Hospital Center, following a brief illness. He was born in Grafton on July 27, 1942, the only child of the late Stanley B. and Virginia C. (Smith) Withers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Menear) Withers, in 1992.
He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Withers Reed; and Amanda Knotts and her husband Paul; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He also has two close friends, Bob Corio and May Jewell.
Stephen loved to golf, and was a jokester and funny guy. He will be greatly missed.

Obituary Preview: Richard “Dick” Moore, also known around Bridgeport as “Coach”, of Golden Street, Bridgeport, passed away April 15, 2024 at United Hospital Center.
He was born April 19, 1936 in Bridgeport, a son of the late Cecil and Nellie Moore. Dick married the love of his life, Ruth Ann Moore, on September 27, 1957. They were married for 51 years. Their love for one another was one of a kind.
He is survived by two sons, Carl Ray Moore of Bridgeport and Robert Weldon Moore of Wytheville, VA. Dick is also survived by one daughter-in-law, Amy Moore, one brother, Jerry Moore, and one sister, Sharon Gillespie; and a sister-in-law, Wilma Moore.
In addition, he is survived by 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren: Kattie Sullivan, her husband Michael, and their daughter Liliana Ruth Sullivan; Amelia Moore and her sons Weston and Hudson Moore; David Moore and his wife Moon; Devon Hager, her husband Roger, and their daughters Graci Hager and Indea Shreves; Audrey Moore; Kearystn Long, her husband Ethan and their daughter Emma Long; Makynzie Richards; Dana Moore; Elijah Moore; Isaiah Moore; and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann Moore, parents Cecil and Nellie Moore, one brother, Nelson “Sonnie” Moore, one sister, Sylvia Wilson, one son, David Paul Moore, and one grandson, Scott Aaron Moore.
Dick graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1954.
Dick spent his early years working for local painter and friend, Dave Pritchard. He then went on to work at Union Carbide for 29 years where he climbed the ranks to foreman until his retirement. He was a hard worker and took much pride in providing for his family.
For many years, Dick and Ruth would travel all over the country to attend square dancing events. They were members of Almost Heaven Squares of Bridgeport, Right Hand Stars and Y-Squares of Fairmont. Many of his favorite memories were made while square dancing with her.
He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting; particularly turkey hunting in which he earned many awards for turkey calling. Above all, he loved Bridgeport sports, especially football. He attended as many games and practices as he could even when his health began to decline. His love for Bridgeport will be remembered.

Captain Mark Steven Quagliotti - November 22, 1957 - April 14, 2024

Obituary Preview: Mark Steven Quagliotti of League City, Texas passed away on April 14, 2024, after a prolonged battle with cancer.
Mark was born on November 22, 1957 to John and Ann Quagliotti in Clarksburg, West Virginia. After graduation from Philip Barbour High School he attended West Virginia University earning his baccalaureate degree in 1980, and subsequently his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the School of Dentistry in 1985.
Mark was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his brothers Al (Jackie), Greg (Marilyn) and sister Monica Nordstrand (Joe). Also surviving are niece Melissa Gervinski (Jason), nephews Leif and Cyrus Nordstrand, great nephew Benjamin and great niece Mckenna Gervinski.
Mark was a true gentleman who will be greatly missed by his extended family, many colleagues and friends. He was a lifelong devout Catholic and during his retirement years in Texas Mark devoted himself to the Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church in Dickinson and area Knights of Columbus Assemblies and Councils. He was a proud member of the Honor Guard and served as faithful Navigator.
Wherever Mark was serving in the world he remained a fan of West Virginia Mountaineer sports and Formula One Racing. He enjoyed sharing his interests and spending time with his family. Mark was always available to volunteer for any worthy cause or person in need.
Mark was a humble man, but his 33-year naval career naval career was far from ordinary. His first assignment was as an Assistant Dental Officer at Naval Dental Clinic, Charleston, South Carolina. His first sea tour followed shortly afterward with his assignment to USS IOWA (BB 61) from 1987 through her decommissioning in 1990. Subsequently assigned to Naval Dental Center Norfolk, his tour included extended concurrent assignments to Fleet Hospital Five, Al Jubayl, Saudi Arabia in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and later, USS FORRESTAL (CV 59) for her final deployment. Returning to Norfolk in 1991, he served as an Assistant Fleet Liaison Officer, and culminated this tour by completing his postgraduate training in the Advanced Clinical Program in General Dentistry there in 1995.
Following his postgraduate dental education, he was assigned as the first Director and Dental Officer of Branch Dental Clinic, St. Mawgan, UK. On his return to CONUS in 1998, he assumed the duties as Dental Officer in USS INCHON (MCS-12).
In 2000, he reported to concurrent duties as the Director of the Fleet Dental Annex clinic and dental Fleet Liaison Officer in Mayport, Florida. His subsequent assignment was as the Dental Officer in USS GEORGE WASHINGTON CVN 73 from 2003 to 2005. His subsequent assignment to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth included duties as Dental Department Head for Naval Healthcare Clinic, NAS Oceana and Oral Diagnosis / Shore Recall Liaison positions at Naval Base Branch Dental Clinic, Norfolk, Virginia.
From July 2008 to July 2010, he served as the first Senior Dental Officer and Dental Department Head in USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH CVN 77. In August 2010 he reported to his current duties as the Fleet Dental Officer assigned to Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet and the Force Dental Officer, Commander, Submarine Force U.S. Pacific Fleet.
In July 2013 to July 2015, he served as the Senior Dental Officer in USS NIMITZ (CVN 68).
From July 2015 to October 2018, he served as the General Dentistry Department Head at the dental clinic at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. Among additional duties during this assignment to Naval Hospital Beaufort (South Carolina), he also served as the dental credentialing officer and Senior Dental Officer / Dental Mentor for the command.
His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (two Gold Stars), Navy Commendation Medal (three Gold Stars), and the Navy Achievement Medal (two Gold Stars), as well as numerous unit commendations and campaign medals.
Following his retirement from the Navy Mark settled in Texas to be near family and the world-class care of MD Anderson. Mark maintained his dental license and volunteered as an adjunct professor of dentistry at the University of Texas Dental School.

Ruth Kathron Olds - May 24, 1941 - April 13, 2024

Obituary Preview: Ruth Kathron Patterson Olds, 82, of Bridgeport, passed away on April 13, 2024 at her residence. She was born May 24, 1941 to the late John Wesley Patterson and Susie Dolly Ludwick Patterson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Emory Deon “Mickey” Olds on August 21, 1984.
Ruth is survived by a daughter, Betty Jean Olds of Bridgeport; and a son, Emory Deon “Mickey” Olds, Jr. of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Latisha Higgins (Nickolas) of AR; Samantha Wright (Jesse) of AR; Rosalin Wesley Ash (Christopher) of Jane Lew; Willis Edward “Harley” Ash III of Bridgeport; great-grandchildren, Cheza Lantz, Nickolas Higgins, Trinity Bournes, Kayden Travis, all of AR; Shyan McKnight of OH; and Canyonn Ritter of Jane Lew. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Sue Olds; her siblings; John Patterson, Roy Patterson, Jesse Patterson, Harry Patterson, and Larry Patterson, all of Kingwood; and Ada Patterson of OH.
Ruth worked as a caregiver for the elderly up until retirement. She enjoyed coloring adult coloring books, solving jig-saw puzzles, reading historic romance, watching her Days of our Lives and movies. She loved taking walks with her daughter, Betty Jean, and riding along with her son Mickey on his paper route. She also adored her yorkie, Abigail. She was a great cook and a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and she loved having family around. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Bailey, of Claremont, NC; his granddaughter, Kayce; and his little buddy Roscoe.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Elaine Brewer, whom he married on August 25, 1967; his son, Tim Brewer; and his siblings, Warren Brewer, Denver Brewer, Garnet Shaffer, Vivian Brewer, and Pauline Williams.
Joe was a graduate of Smithfield High School, and later served in the United States Army. He retired as Production Field Superintendent from the Petroleum Development Corporation after 40 years of service on January 8, 2010.
The family would like to thank his friends and neighbors for their help in allowing him to stay in his home, and his caregivers for their kindness, love, and support during his illness.

Bill was a graduate of Victory High School, and served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He retired in 1994 after many years of service from CNG Transmission Corp as a service personnel. He enjoyed old cars, gardening, landscaping, the Grand Ole Opry, but most of all he enjoyed his family. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and was a member of the WV Oil and Gas Association. On August 27, 1968, she married James D. “Jim” Gore, who preceded her in death on September 18, 2000. She married Richard “Frank” Harris, on November 10, 2005, who preceded her in death on March 19, 2012.
She is survived by her son, James E. Gore and his wife Denice, of Provo, UT; and her daughter, Dollie Owens and her husband Ron of Gypsy; her grandchildren, Nancy Lynn Williams and her husband Timmy Joe Williams; Ronald James Owens, Jr.; Brian Lee Owens; Jason Andrew Gore; Lekesley Nunez and Noe Nunez; and her great-grandchildren, Brenda Lea Williams and Sophia Rose Williams. Two brothers, Kenneth Stire and his wife Carol of Lumberport; and John Stire of Lumberport, who also passed away Monday, April 1st, shortly after Betty; and two sisters, Lois Markley of Shinnston and Lecia Coen of Bridgeport; and many nieces and nephews complete her family.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Leon Gore; a daughter-in-law, Kellie Gore; and her sisters, Shirley Bunnell, Mary Ellen Stire and Stella Wright; and her brothers; Robert Stire; Donald Stire, Jr.; Thomas Stire; Frank “Zeke” Stire; and Charles Stire.
Betty was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Clarksburg. She loved creating her outside flower bed with beautiful flowers, collecting wind chimes, and nicknacs. She was always willing to assist and help family and friends throughout her life.

Obituary Preview: Joan Ann (Brown) Boyles, 92, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at United Hospital Center after a brief illness. She was born on January 14, 1932, in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Harry St. Clair Brown and Mildred Elizabeth (Braun) Brown.
On December 11, 1951, she married William “Bill” Boyles, who preceded her in death on September 2, 2000.
She is survived by a son, Patrick Boyles and wife Connie; a grandson, Ryan Boyles and wife Caragh; and a great-grandson, Christopher R. Boyles, all of Bridgeport.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Christopher W. Boyles, a brother and sister-in-law, John “Jack” Brown and Wanda (Woofter) Brown; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Elizabeth (Brown) Faherty and Paul Faherty; and a niece, Kimberly (Brown) Toothman.
Joan grew up in Clarksburg, where she was a 1949 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. Before her marriage, she was employed at Watts-Sartor-Lear department store. Joan and her husband Bill moved around the country while Bill served in the US Air Force throughout the 1950s and 1960s, including stops in West Palm Beach, FL; Denver, CO; and Anchorage, AK. They returned to Clarksburg in the early 1960s before moving to the Maple Lake community in Bridgeport in the early 1970s. Joan lived at Maple Lake for 50 years and was an active member of the Maple Lake Woman’s Club with many of her dearest friends. She was a lifelong Mountaineer fan.
Joan was a devout Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Stonewood.

Throughout her career, Nancy worked diligently for various telephone companies, dedicating many years of service before retiring.
Nancy was a devout member of the Somers Baptist Church, where she found solace, community, and purpose. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, bringing her comfort and strength.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Terry Yoho, her son David Yoho and his wife Megan, and her cherished grandchildren Alexander and Molly Yoho. Nancy is also survived by her siblings: Vince Flaherty, Olivia Shuttleworth, and Linda Bethmann, along with several nieces and nephews.

Libby was preceded in death by Brady Joseph "Joe" Moore, her loving husband of 59 ½ years and devoted father to their four children, on July 12, 2009.
She is survived by her children, Dennis "Rod" Moore (Leigh Ann) of Fairmont, Brady "Joey" Moore, Jr. (Lisa) of Fairmont, and Linda K. Moore III (Becki) of Morgantown; great-grandchildren Layla, James, Lincoln, Brady, and Julia; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Lynn Moore; a grandson, Shawn Michael Bosnick; her three brothers, Watson Ford (Maxine); Frank Ford (Ellen); Charles F. Ford, Jr.; and her sister, Alma R. Ford.
Her first job was at the C & P Telephone office, which she loved working at until she quit to start her family. Then she and her husband founded a welding and mine car repair company, “Libby Construction Co.”, which thrived for 42 years. He did the shop work and she did the office work.
Libby and Joe loved to travel internationally to locations as far away as Germany, England, Jerusalem, China, Italy, France, Cuba, Russia, Mongolia, Siberia, Greece and Canada, as well as visiting 25 states in their cross-country adventures.
They purchased a winter home in Palm Bay, Florida, which was enjoyed by them and their children. Libby enjoyed reading books, listening to audio books, playing scrabble, doing crossword puzzles, and making many homemade crafts.
She was a 41-year member of Eldora United Methodist Church, and a 52-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Fairmont Chapter #34.

Obituary Preview: Charles Wayne McDaniel, 88, of Hepzibah, passed away Tuesday morning, March 26, 2024, in the United Hospital Center. He was born in Meadowbrook on September 9, 1935, a son of the late Charles Lewis McDaniel and Mary Elizabeth (McCauley) McDaniel.
On October 25, 1958, he married Mildred Lou (McGlothlin), who preceded him in death on October 6, 2020, after 62 years of marriage.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Sue Moore and her husband Jim of Fairmont; four grandchildren, Charles Ryan McDaniel of Salem; Matthew S. Moore and his wife Brittany of Fairmont; Michael Moore of Mannington; and Aimee K. Moore of Fairmont; Melinda Shaw Kreps, whom he considered a daughter; 7 great-grandchildren, Trenton Moore; Lochlan Moore; Tynlee Moore; Colten Moore; Justin Upton; Brandon Upton; and Trevor Upton. His sisters-in-law, Ruby Maxwell of Salem, VA; Pauline Harrison of Pulaski, VA; and Margaret Ann Cochran and her husband Danny of Pounding Mill, VA; and many nieces and nephews complete his family.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Charles David McDaniel. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by two sisters, Charlene Sisler and Juanita Johnson; and five brothers, Henry, Jim, Richard, Roger and John McDaniel.
Charlie retired from Fisher Auto and Craig Motor Service. He served in the US Army, and was very proud of his service. He enjoyed family get-togethers, including cookouts and family poker games. He was an avid WVU and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also enjoyed watching his grandsons play in sports and attending most of their games.

Obituary Preview: Teddy D. Stull of Bridgeport passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Clarksburg Health Care Center following an extended illness. Ted is the last survivor of his immediate family. He was born August 21, 1944, at Flat Run, Mannington, a son of the late Marjorie Watson Stull and Woodrow Stull.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Glenne Stull, and a sister, Lorene Hayes and brother-in-law Robert Hayes of Mannington.
Teddy graduated from Mannington High School in the Class of 1962. Ted met his loving wife, Linda Cross, on a blind date on his motorcycle and married her on July 18, 1970. They have shared 53 years together and have a son, Brian Stull, of Bridgeport.
Also surviving are his brother-in-law, Ronald Cross of Clarksburg, and a sister-in-law Marilyn Cross of Ashtabula, OH. He has four nephews from Ohio, David, Jason, Timmy, and Mike Cross, and Richard Hayes and his wife Deanna of Mannington; and his only niece Sherri Cross Savisky of Pittsburgh, PA. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Jerry Cross.
Ted had two dogs, Cindy and Buddy, that he loved to take on walks. He loved going fishing on his boat and deer hunting. He also wanted to go to a different beach on the east coast every vacation. And in the fall, he would take his family fishing in Canada to a different resort every year. Every chance he got he loved to go square dancing and go to the clubs and rock and roll dancing on Saturday night.
Ted worked for several years in the ‘60’s and 70’s for the WV Department of Highways as an inspector on the new interstate. He retired from Robinson Run Coal Mines after 37 years as a mechanic and electrician. He is a member of the UMWA Union #31. He is also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Mannington, a Moose club member, and a member of the Elks Club. Ted was Methodist.

She is survived by her only child, Robin McGee Shoup and her husband, Todd; five beautiful grandchildren whom she loved deeply, Brooklyn Hughes-Ankrom and her husband Shawn; Hudson Shoup and his wife Casey; Keely Shoup and her husband Shane; Lexi Shoup; and Fallyn Shoup and her fiancé, Justin Witters; and two adorable great-grandchildren, Preston and Lorelai Hughes- Ankrom, all of Washington, PA area.
Other survivors include her sisters, Mary Jo Crites and Sandy Lefever of Shinnston; sister-in-law, Linda Fernandez of Toronto, Canada; her former husband, friend, and father of Robin, Bob McGee of Bridgeport. She also left behind several nieces and nephews and other family members she loved.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck Greathouse; her brother, Fred Fernandez; and brothers-in-law, Jack Crites and Bob Lefever.
After graduating Victory High School she began her career with the Kroger Company and retired there as Assistant Manager at the Eastpointe Store.
She was a life-long Christian and active member of the Stealey United Methodist Church where she organized and hosted the ladies book club.
Doris, a classy, yet humble lady, was known for her gourmet cooking, and her family holiday dinners, a very generous and loving spirit, and a great sense of humor. She enjoyed sports and attending WVU football games with her good friend, Betty Reed.

Obituary Preview: Bernard L. “Bernie” Norman, 81, of Mount Clare, WV, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, 27 February 2024. He was born in Clarksburg, WV on 2 May 1942, the youngest child of the late Bryan Elias and Verna (Fox) Norman. He is survived by his wife, Saundra Rux Norman whom he married on 29 May 2019.
Also surviving are three children, Debra Kay Day, Bridgeport, WV, Kelly (Norman) Jones and her husband Steve, Chambersburg, PA, and Mark L. Norman, Middleboro, MA; Seven grandchildren, Erin Day, Kelsi Day, Joseph Griffin, Bryan Griffin and his wife Lyndsay, Zachary Jones, Andy Norman, and Dan Norman; Three great-grandchildren, Lily Griffin, Brinley Keough, and Joseph “Joe Joe” Keough; Two brothers, James A. Norman and his wife Shelva, St. Augustine, FL, and Bryan J. Norman and his wife Judy, Morehead City, NC, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Saundra (Lewis) Norman, and seven brothers and sisters.
Bernard was a graduate of Roosevelt-Wilson High School and enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1960. He spent four years active duty as a Diesel Engineman, two years in the Coast Guard Reserve, and attained the rank of Engineman 2nd class. After an eight-year break in service, MSgt Norman enlisted in the 119th Engineer Company in 1974 as a truck driver. Two years later, he accepted a full-time position as the Unit Clerk and, in 1979, became the Supply Sergeant. In 1987, he became the Operations Sergeant for C Co. 1092nd Engineer Battalion and served as the First Sergeant there prior to accepting the position of Senior NCO Logistician for the 111th Engineer Group. In 1992, Bernard received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Military Management from the University of Charleston.
MSgt Norman’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Good Conduct Medal with a Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, the Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster, the National Defense Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Service Ribbon, the Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the West Virginia Emergency Service Ribbon with a Silver Oak Leaf Cluster and two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, and the West Virginia State Service Ribbon with a Silver Oak Leaf Cluster. He retired in 2002 from the WV Army National Guard with the rank of Master Seargent.
In addition to his robust military career, Bernie carried forth his passion for woodworking by establishing a custom carpentry business from his home workshop. His beautiful craftsmanship can be seen to this day throughout North Central WV, including in his own home which he built with his own two hands. He served as Secretary / Treasurer for the Norman Family Cemetery Association and dedicated many years of his life to the upkeep and beautification of those hallowed grounds. He was an avid Mountaineer and Steelers fan and enjoyed cheering on his beloved teams. Above all, Bernie cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.

Clare; three grandsons, Jeremy Hinzman and his wife Cassie of Lost Creek; Steven Griffith-Hinzman and his husband Michael of Nutter Fort; and Dylan Hinzman of Mt. Clare; four great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Emmett Hinzman of Lost Creek, and Kaylee and Bella Griffith of Nutter Fort; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy O’Neil Hinzman and Norman Eugene Hinzman; and two sisters, Sharon Ann Hukill and Maria Hinzman.
Denver was a graduate of Harrisville High School and served in the US Air Force, where he was stationed in Clovis, NM and in Turkey for 6 months. He retired as a mechanic from Union Carbide after 33 years of service on January 1, 1996.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Brushy Fork, and American Legion Post 13. An avid hunter and golfer, he was a member of Tygart Valley Country Club, North Bend Country Club, and Sunny Croft.
Our beloved “Pap” was also known as the “tractor doctor” of Brushy Fork. If you broke it, he could fix it – and not only tractors. You could find Pap in “Denver’s Pout House” or on his lawnmower at any given time. He was also a well-known prankster and storyteller. His “Pap Shakes”, dancing, and antics were always a source of entertainment for his family and friends that will carry on. He will be sorely missed. Margaret was the caregiver of her children and ran the family home while Kenny worked. She loved cooking and cleaning. Family was her life, and she then helped take care of her grandchildren, helping her children build their own lives. She will be missed greatly as the matriarch of the family. Obituary Preview: William “Bill” Gordon MacLean III, 76, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at his home at Maple Lake in Bridgeport, West Virginia, with his wife of 54 years, Eleanor Seitz MacLean, by his side. He was born June 7, 1947, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to the late William G. MacLean, Jr., USMC Ret., and the late Gwendolyn Gilbert MacLean.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his sons, William Carlton MacLean (Emily Hamer) and Matthew Spencer MacLean (Amy), as well as 5 beloved grandchildren, Magdalene Amelia MacLean, Lily Cate MacLean, Annella (Annie) Rose MacLean, Ronan Rembrandt Michael MacLean, and Cameron Rhys Llewellyn MacLean. He is also survived by his sister, Martha MacLean Johnson (Rodger) and brothers, Charles E. MacLean (Marie) and Douglas G. MacLean (Melanie), his step mother, Solange Jacqueline MacLean, and his stepsister, Carinne Binda Cunningham (Ron), and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his stepbrother, Mark Binda.
Because Bill’s father was a career Marine, he doesn’t have one hometown. He was an Eagle Scout. He graduated in 1964 from McLean High School in McLean, Virginia. He graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1969, majoring in accounting. He was in R.O.T.C., Scabbard and Blade Military Honor Society, and Sigma Pi Fraternity. He entered the U.S. Army in November, 1969, as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was stationed at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Aberdeen, Maryland. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant. He was honorably discharged in August 1971.
Bill then moved to Schaumburg, Illinois, where he lived and worked for 25 years. He was active with his sons’ baseball and hockey teams. He worked for National Association of Blue Cross, Touche Ross, and CNA Insurance. He then accepted a position with United Hospital Center and WVU Medicine as vice president of insurance in 1996, and moved to Bridgeport, West Virginia. He retired in 2017. He was an active member of The Scottish Heritage Society of North Central West Virginia, serving as Treasurer, Vice President, and President. He served as Master of Ceremonies for the Robert Burns Dinner for nine years. Bill also participated in the Scottish Games and Celtic Gathering for 12 years. His hobby was genealogy. He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and cats.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family thanks Jessica Daniels, his caregiver for several years, the WVU Hospice, and Dr. Ron Pellegrino, for their care of Bill.

On June 16, 1958, she married James “Jim” Fouse, who preceded her in death on May 21, 2019.
She is survived by her four children, Jeffrey Ryan Fouse and his wife Cathy; Gregrey Brian Fouse and his wife Kathleen; Robert Douglas Fouse and his wife Bridget; and Karilynne Sue Pryor and her husband Randall; 18 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Cheryl Hernandez, and her brother, Charles Hawk.
Carol Ann worked at Montgomery Wards and also at Jo-Ann Fabrics for over 25 years. She enjoyed sewing, baking, being involved in the church, and most of all, her family.
