He was born on January 15, 1959, in Oswego to the late Arnold and Rosina (Hotelling) Manwaring. Jeffrey was a high school graduate of Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central Schools, he continued his education at Onondaga Community College, Murray State University, and SUNY Oswego where he received his master’s degree in education. On October 16, 1993, Jeffrey married Kristen Charles in Pulaski, she predeceased him on April 15, 2022. He was an educator of over 35 years, working in many districts including Caruthersville Central Schools, Hamilton Central School, Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School, Pulaski High School, and Sherburne-Earlville Central Schools where he spent 18 years as a music instructor, until his retirement. Jeffrey was large part of the S-E music department, serving as director of the marching band and a Coordinator for the Pageant of Bands for 18 years. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time watching the horse races at Vernon Downs, and was a devoted fan of his alma mater, Murray State University, basketball team. He is survived by his sons, Tyler Manwaring, (Ally Colp) of Whitesboro, Colin Manwaring, (fiancé, Megan Hart) of Syracuse; sisters, Avis (James) Peterson, of Central Square, Cynthia (Keon) Wild, of Pennellville, Dorothy (Richard) Beck, of Mexico; brother, Lyle (Lisa) Manwaring, of Mexico; sister-in-law, Wendy Fisher, of Hamilton; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and canine companions, Reggie and Sadie.Friends and family are invited to call on Saturday, November 25, from 11am - 2 pm at Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St. Hamilton. Judith was born on October 23, 1939, in Binghamton, to the late Anthony and Margaret (Burnett) Manley. She was a graduate of Greene Central Schools and continued her education at St. Joseph’s School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse. She married H. Gene Grabosky, he predeceased her in 2001. She later married Thomas Carlin, of Auburn. Judith worked as a maternity nurse at Community Memorial Hospital, and she also taught childbirth classes. Judith worked alongside Gene for Liberty Services as caregivers for troubled teens and was also employed at the Harriet Tubman House in Auburn supporting troubled youth which was both of their passion. Judy’s favorite pastime was watching Syracuse Football, and she was a lifetime member of the Syracuse University Orange Pack. He was born in Utica on April 19, 1935 a son of the late John D. and Katherine A. (O’Halloran) McGaugh, He graduated from Utica Free Academy and Albany College of Pharmacy, class of 1957. He served for 10 years in the US Army Reserve. He married Rosalyn Pelichowski (‘Ro’) on September 24, 1960, in Herkimer. Bob became proprietor of Crowes Drug Store in Hamilton in 1967 until his retirement in 1999, when he turned the store over to his son Patrick McGaugh.Bob was an active member of the Hamilton community. He served on the Board of Community Memorial Hospital including several years as chairman. He was a great supporter of Colgate University Hockey and served on the Silver Puck Council. In 1991, Bob was the Colgate Silver Puck Award co-recipient. He was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Hamilton Rotary Club.Bob was a proud alumnus of the Albany College of Pharmacy. Obituary Preview: Diane E. Provo, 81, of Lake Moraine Rd., passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the Crouse Community in Morrisville. She was born on April 4, 1942, in Rome, a daughter of the late Ivan and Mary (Freytag) Norton. She was a graduate of Gouverneur Schools, SUNY Morrisville and Utica College where she received her bachelors degree in Medical Record Keeping. In April of 1985, at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Norwich, Diane was united in marriage to John J. Provo, Sr. He predeceased her on January 5, 1998. Diane worked at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich for over 25 years, she started out in the outpatient department before becoming a social worker. Following her retirement, she moved to Mrytle Beach where she would volunteer with Hospice.Diane enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, playing cards and karaoke. She was a devout Catholic whose faith was very important to her. She is survived by a daughter, Charlotte (Michael) Howard of Hamilton, a son, David Storrin (fiancé, Twyla Barton), of Trenton, SC., sisters, Candy Terry of Johnson City, Sherry (Lee) McLaughlin of Watertown, Peggy (John) Jessup of Morrisville, brothers, John (Neta) Norton, of TX., Edward (Sue) Norton, of FL., Michael Norton of Messena, grandchildren; Tyler Jablonski of Newport, KT., Ally Jablonski of Hamilton, Kathleen Morris Storrin of Washington, GA. and a great-grandchild; Clarie Kristine Jablonksi. Obituary Preview: HAMILTON;Sylvia Palermo Roe, of East Lake Road, died Thursday, November 2, 2023. She was born January 20, 1932, in Trenton NJ, daughter of the late Salvatore Palermo and Millie Vasta. She was schooled there in parochial schools, graduating from Cathedral High School. She became a Registered Nurse after training at Helene Fuld Hospital School of Nursing in Trenton. She was a nurse there, then taught at the school. She was a Red Cross Volunteer nurse during her husband's army career, then resumed work as an RN locally, retiring as head nurse at Colgate University Health Service. Long a volunteer with the American Cancer Society, she counseled mastectomy patients. She was active in local affairs, notably the Chenango Water Exercise Group. She learned to swim at sixty, then became both an instructor and an active member of the group. She was a trustee of St Mary's Roman Catholic Church.Once termed "the neighborhood disaster control officer,” she was the person everyone came to for help: cleansing a wound, piercing ears, explaining what the doctor had just said, taking a neighbor's blood pressure, organizing an activity. She knew who to ask to do which work and how to make things happen smoothly. She once organized an event for 300 people from all over the country without holding a single meeting.She married Stanley Hartshorn Roe at Fort Dix NJ, on July 21, 1956. He survives her. She is also survived by two sons; David and Stephen of Hamilton; a daughter, Susan of Atlanta Ga; six grandchildren, and a great grandson; Granddaughters, Aurora Roe and Cora Speck, and Cora’s son Rowan live locally.The family will host guests on Sunday, November 5th at the family home from 2-5 pm. Long a volunteer with the American Cancer Society, she counseled mastectomy patients. She was active in local affairs, notably the Chenango Water Exercise Group. She learned to swim at sixty, then became both an instructor and an active member of the group. She was a trustee of St Mary's Roman Catholic Church.
Once termed "the neighborhood disaster control officer,” she was the person everyone came to for help: cleansing a wound, piercing ears, explaining what the doctor had just said, taking a neighbor's blood pressure, organizing an activity. She knew who to ask to do which work and how to make things happen smoothly. She once organized an event for 300 people from all over the country without holding a single meeting.
She married Stanley Hartshorn Roe at Fort Dix NJ, on July 21, 1956. He survives her. She is also survived by two sons; David and Stephen of Hamilton; a daughter, Susan of Atlanta Ga; six grandchildren, and a great grandson; Granddaughters, Aurora Roe and Cora Speck, and Cora’s son Rowan live locally.
The family will host guests on Sunday, November 5th at the family home from 2-5 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Hamilton on Monday, November 6th, at 10 am.

She was born November 2,1954 in Constableville, NY, a daughter of the late Fay L., Jr. and Marlene L. (Peterson) Ackerman. She graduated from South Lewis Central School in Turin, NY as valedictorian of her class. She attended Alfred University in Alfred, NY and went on to teach middle school mathematics for 30 years in Hamilton, NY until retiring in 2012. She was a long time Sunday School teacher and member of the Living Hope Ministries in Utica, NY. On August 19, 1989, she married Thomas B. Blackford at the First Baptist Church in Hamilton. Valerie enjoyed watching sports and was always faithful to her husbands basketball team, the Hamilton Emerald Knights. She enjoyed several hobbies including gardening, reading, puzzle books as well as her trips to Florida. She also enjoyed traveling, always looking for a new adventure and new roads to explore. Valerie was devoted to her family, friends and her many students over the years.

Obituary Preview: The Rev. Elizabeth Gillett of Hamilton, NY died of cancer on September 20, 2023 at UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY. She was 78. She was born on September 11, 1945 in Sutton, England, and spent her early childhood in Bechuanaland (now Botswana), Canada, and Australia, where her father did medical work before immigrating to the U.S. Her mother, Monica M. Gillett, her father, Dr. James Anthony Gillett, and a brother, Antony W. H. Gillett, predeceased her.
Elizabeth graduated from Columbia University and The General Theological Seminary in New York City. She was ordained as a deacon in the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland in 1983 and as priest in 1984. In 1985, she moved to the Diocese of Central New York to serve as Canon at St. Pauls Episcopal Cathedral in Syracuse. From 1988 to1998 she was rector at St.Thomas Episcopal Church in Hamilton, NY. She returned to Baltimore to serve as the Director of Episcopal Community Services of Maryland until 2004.
She retired from full-time parish ministry in 2010, but continued to minister in various parishes in Central New York. She served as chaplain at St. Margarets Ecumenical and Retreat Center in New Hartford, NY since January 2020, and as a supply priest, at Church of the Epiphany in Sherburne, NY. She was a Friend of Emmaus House in Utica, NY, and an Associate of Holy Cross Monastery in West Park, NY.
Elizabeth will be remembered for her warmth and generosity, and her devotion to parishioners and community members from all walks of life. She reached out to local quilters to make quilts for all the beds at Emmaus house. She was a spiritual friend of deep insight and devotion, and had a sense of fun and adventure that sometimes surprised people. Through her retreats, bible studies, and formal and informal conversations, she challenged individuals to think, question, and put their faith into action. She was a source of strength, inspiration and encouragement to persons going through difficult times or medical procedures. She was greatly loved and is deeply mourned.
