Obituary Preview: Terry “Taras” Burak, 70, of Fairmount, passed away Thursday at Francis House. Born in New Orleans, LA, he lived most of his life in the Syracuse area. A 1969 graduate of Bishop Ludden High School, Terry earned his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Brockport and his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Le Moyne College. He was the purchasing manager at Carrier Corporation, where he worked for 47 years. Terry enjoyed running, cycling, golfing, and tennis, and was an avid Yankees fan. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
Terry was predeceased by his parents, Iwan and Anastasia; and brother, Wasyl.
Surviving are his fiancée, Ami Longstreet; daughter, Annie Burak Dotzler; son, John (Katie); grandchildren, Jack, Andrew, Charlie and Hannah Dotzler and Alex, Maya and Abby Burak; and brother, Michael.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, July 5 from 10 to 11 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse.

Obituary Preview: James D. “Jim” Dusart Sr., 85, of Camillus, passed away Sunday at Elderwood at Liverpool, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Syracuse, he moved to Camillus in 1945 and was a faithful parishioner and former usher at St. Joseph’s Church. Jim was a self-made man, quitting his job in 1968 to start his own tree nursery named Red Oak Nurseries in Camillus. He made his living doing carpentry work, building his own house and several others until the nursery was established. He was a very good father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Hazel; brothers, Larry, Kenny, who died in Vietnam in 1968, and Robert; and niece, Jessica Lobdell.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, the former June Brady; sons, James Jr. (Jeannine Moore) and Thomas (Rebecca); daughters, Cynthia (Bob Lingyak) and Lorraine (Tom) Artini; brother, Raymond (Irene); sister, Dorothy Lobdell; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; twelve grandchildren and their spouses; and 21 (soon to be 23) great-grandchildren.

James Francis Lynet Jr. - October 23, 1937 - June 22, 2022

Obituary Preview: James F. Lynet Jr., 84, of Liverpool, passed away Wednesday at Matthew House, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Utica, October 23, 1937, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Lynet. He graduated from New Hartford Central School in 1956, followed by Niagara University. He was employed by GMAC as a finance supervisor for over 30 years before working for ADESA in sales. A United States Marine Corps veteran, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
On November 9, 1963, he married the late Eugenia Frances Servello, wife of 57 years, at St. Anthony’s Church in Herkimer. James was a member of Christ the King Church, Liverpool. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his son, James F. (Alaina) Lynet III of Camillus, two daughters, Jill A. (Eric) Smith of Baldwinsville and Amanda C. (Christopher) Marques of Middleton, MA, and ten grandchildren: Gabrielle, Zachary, Alexis and Austin Lynet; Eric Alex, Eva and Nathan Smith; and Isabella, Christopher and Mia Marques.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 28 at 9:30 a.m. at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 927 Park Ave., Syracuse.
James will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.

A graduate of Conneaut High School, Marty received her bachelor’s degree from Mercyhurst University and master’s degree from Niagara University. She was employed as a teacher for many years, finishing her career teaching English as a Second Language at OCM BOCES. A communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, she was also a member of the choir. Marty advocated passionately for others in need by serving and volunteering on many committees, including the Auxiliary Board at Community General Hospital, Catholic Charities, The Cerebral Palsy Center, ARC of Onondaga and United Way. She enjoyed knitting, cross-stitching, gardening, golfing, reading, tennis, camping, and doing many activities with her closest friends. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Marty was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, in 2010, John G. “Jack” Cuddy, Jr.; parents, Charles and Margaret McNulty; and sister, Patricia Kaiser.
Surviving are her sons, Michael (Mary Ann) of Pittsburgh, PA, Daniel of Rochester, and Timothy of Camillus; daughters, Kathleen Taylor of Camillus and Margaret Nothnagle of Rochester; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Upon returning to Syracuse, he was employed by Lord & Taylor as a sales associate for over ten years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Brian was predeceased by his parents, Allan and Ethel Madlin.
Surviving are his sister, Judy (John) Henneberry of Camillus; nephew, Michael (Susan) Petrosillo of Fayetteville; nieces, Kim (Michael) McGraw and Amy (Robert) Anderson of Camillus; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was a communicant of Holy Family Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Caroline was predeceased by her first husband, Jon D. Holtsbery; second husband, Kenneth; sisters, Doris Carhart and Helen Lavigne; and brother, Armand Lavigne.
Surviving are her daughter, Jeanine Ann (Bart) Schibeci of Fairmount; son, Jon D. (Kellie) Holtsbery Jr. of Solvay; sister, Mary Jane (Thomas) Melson of West Virginia; grandchildren, Olivia, Nathan and Brianna; and several nieces and nephews.

His accomplishments in painting can be seen in some of the finest homes and establishments in the Syracuse area. Gerry’s interests included the outdoors, gardening, bocce ball, classic cars, and attending his son’s concerts and events. He enjoyed winemaking and curing meats to share. His pride was in his family and grandchildren.
Gerry was predeceased by his parents, Cesare and Pierina Mastronardi.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Laureen Raite; children, Daniel (Morgan) of Syracuse, Matthew (Darnelle Radford) of Philadelphia, PA, Michael (Nicole) of Syracuse and Sarah (Brandon Long) of Syracuse; granddaughters, Stella, Eliza, Ruby and Margo; brothers, Giuseppe (Luciana), Pasqualino (Rosa) and Benedetto (Maria) Mastronardi, all of Torrice, Italy; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted daughter, sister, and cousin.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Bernard and Mary Ella Hayes; and sister, Dr. Margaret Hayes.
Surviving are her many cousins, including Marcia (Frank) Bopp of Syracuse, Frank (Sherry) Bopp of Canastota, and Gail McShane, of Rochester; and goddaughter, Christine (Ken) Schrank of Camillus.

Linda worked as a loan officer for the Federal Bureau of Education for over 30 years. After retiring April 1, 2011, Linda moved to New York. She enjoyed quilting and handstitching for newborn babies and family, but above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, Franklin and Dorothy Williams; and sister, Letitia.

Kevin John Walsh - January 18, 1955 - June 08, 2022

Obituary Preview: Kevin John Walsh, 67, of Hamilton, formerly of Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday in a location near and dear to his heart and childhood home. Kevin was a successful local entrepreneur, real estate businessman and dedicated and loving family man and friend. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he attended Christian Brothers Academy and graduated from West Genesee High School. He attended Cayuga Community College and became an office manager at Bliss Steel. Shortly thereafter, Kevin worked in car sales and became a restauranter, real estate investor and landlord. For the next 25 years, he was the originator and owner of KJ Mechanical in Syracuse, an electrical and gas-line business, specializing in in-ground pools. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a member of the Lake Moraine Association, where he formerly served as a board member for several years.
Kevin was a sport’s enthusiast. Participating in basketball during his childhood years, he later developed a lifetime passion for golf, becoming a member at several courses in CNY. A 30-year Syracuse University ticketholder of football and basketball, Kevin often participated in a popular SU sport blog, under the name “ORRange”. He loved traveling around the country in his RV with his family, relishing each new experience and person he had the pleasure and honor to meet. Any time with his family was precious to Kevin, especially with his two children, who were his world, bragging rights, and sun and moon. His wife of 31 years was the love of his life, best friend, and confidante. The second of four boys, Kevin remained close to his three brothers as well, each a constant source of support, love and encouragement for the others.
Kevin was predeceased by his parents, James and Joan; and sister-in-law, Arla Walsh.
Surviving are his wife, the former Janet Ashmore; son, Alec Walsh of Palm Beach Garden, FL; daughter, Ava Walsh of Syracuse; brothers, Michael of Hudson, FL, Daniel of Camillus, and Paul of Pulaski; his dearest friend and recognized fourth brother, Mark Berger of Solvay; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was a collector of Western memorabilia and enjoyed traveling out west and to Pennsylvania, with her husband, to visit family. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Anna was predeceased by her husband, Martin, in 1987; daughter, Michalina "Mickey" Meaker in 2019; and sister, Mary Katherine Kowalczyk.
Surviving are her grandchildren, Malessa (Patrick) Sweet of Mattydale and Michael (Aimee) Meaker of Skaneateles; great-granddaughters, Sabrina Sweet, Sparrow and Echo Meaker; great-grandson, Logan Meaker; sister, Frances Albarano of Hollidaysburg, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Christopher received an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Onondaga Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from SUNY Cortland. He was employed by Home Depot while in high school until graduating college. Christopher worked as a service advisor for 11 years, most recently at Fayetteville Dodge Ram. He collected watches, was an unbelievable chef, avid motorcyclist and loved his vehicles.
Christopher was predeceased by his father, Frank; and uncles, Bob Latham and Dan Scicchitano.
Surviving are his fiancée, Alison Risser; mother, Jeanette Lannie; aunts, “Auntie” Sharon Latham and Amy Scicchitano; uncle, Ralph (Judy) Scicchitano; and several cousins.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday, June 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
