Obituary Preview: Ralph Lee “Rowdy” Simpson was born January 22, 1952 to Fred and Lulabelle Simpson. He joined his brother Dewey and sister Sheila, and was followed by his sister Julia.
The Simpson family moved to Ririe May 1, 1957 where Rowdy attended school. During his school years, he made many lifelong friends including the “Ririe Rat Pack” of Carl Cowan, Kendall Lovell, Kim Ritter, and Dal Nelson. They spent their days and nights roaming the streets of Ririe looking for the next adventure (of which there were many), sleeping out in the back yard and just enjoying being kids. His mom’s favorite story was when Dewey handed Rowdy his kite string and the kite started to drag and lift Rowdy away. She yelled at Dewey to go get his brother. At an early age Rowdy developed a love of music and was a very gifted drummer. He started playing in bands when he was 13, playing at many school dances and, with his parents’ consent playing in bars. Over the years he opened for acts such as Head East, Rick Derringer, and Kip Winger. He loved his many band mates and missed them when he decided to hang his drum sticks up a few years ago. Rowdy was always ready to listen to any good music and enjoyed going to concerts. He loved music so much he talked his sister into naming her daughter after a Beatle’s song!
Rowdy started working in the construction business after high school and continued until he retired in August, 2021. He ran heavy equipment doing ground and utility work for subdivisions and building or rebuilding roads. If there was dirt to move, he was ready to move it.
Since 1996, Rowdy has shared his life adventures with the love of his life, Colleen, going golfing, to concerts, camping, four wheeling, and recently enjoyed a football game in Las Vegas.

Kaye O Baugh - Unknown - December 06, 2021

Departed: 12/06/2021 (Idaho Falls)
Obituary Preview: Kaye Olsen Baugh finally gave up the fight with metastatic kidney cancer and its complications on December 4th, 2021 at 9:30 am.  She always had a strong heart - literally, emotionally, and mentally - which helped her meet and overcome the many difficulties and challenges she faced while battling life’s hardships and finally the cancer that took her life.  Kaye was kind, loving and a good friend.  She loved to read, do crafts, and build Legos.  She was the consummate homemaker, creating a home that was fun, beautiful and peaceful, but she didn’t like to cook and she didn’t like vegetables.  She loved her family above all else. She truly understood and lived the adage that “family is a matter of the heart”. She embraced kids, stepkids and grandkids, semi-adopted family, and close friends-that-are-like-family with equal love and support.  As much as she loved family, she loved the Gospel and going to the Temple. She was thrilled to be able to attend for the final time on September 7th to witness her daughter’s marriage and be sealed to her.  She felt honored to serve a mission at the Idaho Falls Temple Visitor Center with her husband Jim, who predeceased her.
While Kaye will be missed by all who knew and loved her, we are all happy for her to be done with these earthly struggles so she can be whole and joyful again with all her family in heaven.

James Boland - September 27, 1927 - November 10, 2021

Departed: 11/10/2021 (Idaho Falls)
Obituary Preview: James “Jim” Froman Boland, 94, passed away in Idaho Falls November 10, 2021.
Jim was born in Wind River Country in Riverton, Wyoming, on Sept. 27, 1927, to Abraham “Abe” Lincoln Boland and Grace Froman Boland.
Jim attended Riverton High School and graduated in 1945. He enlisted in the Army shortly thereafter and earned the rank of sergeant. After WWII, Jim attended the University of Wyoming where he graduated in 1951 with honors with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He went on to earn a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Idaho in 1961.
He met his wife Henrietta “Hank” Salisbury Harris in Dubois, Wyoming. Her father owned the Wind River Ranch and Hank came out from New Jersey to work the dude ranch in the summers. Everyone in town knew Abe and Grace because they ran the telephone exchange, and that’s how Hank met Jim. They knew each for many years before getting married in 1953. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this summer.
Jim secured a job at Westinghouse and came to Idaho Falls after graduating from college. He worked on the nuclear reactor prototype for the first nuclear submarine Nautilus. He later joined Argonne National Laboratories where he worked on other groundbreaking projects including EBRI, EBRII and TREAT. After 25 years, James retired from Argonne.
Jim was a family man. Nothing was more important to him. He was happiest surrounded by family at reunions, gatherings and special events. Jim was the consummate host. He would welcome you with open arms, take your coat, put you at ease, fix your drink and make sure there was a spot for you at the table.
An avid skier, adventurer and explorer, Jim took many trips across the country and around the region in motorhomes and vans, sharing natural and historical wonders with his traveling companions. He taught at least two generations to hunt, fish and ski, which he especially loved. He and his college friends once hauled a pickup truck up Togwatee Mountain to build a tow rope so they could ski the Continental Divide.
Jim was always ready and willing to help his children and grandchildren learn something new. He taught them how to fix things, how to change oil and, most importantly, how to work. He supported them as they learned life lessons. He made time for one-on-one trips with his grandchildren, which always included unforgettable adventures.
He traveled extensively after retirement. One of the highlights of his many travels was a horse pack trip in the Tibetan Highlands of China.

Ruth Corinne Parks - April 04, 1926 - November 06, 2021

Departed: 11/06/2021 (Idaho Falls)
Obituary Preview: RUTH CORINNE PARKS was born in Billings, OK, to Lovell and Pauline McClanahan on April 4, 1926. She was welcomed into the world by her 8 year old brother Junior and they went on to welcome Berthalene, Geraldine, and Barbara Irene. The four girls were close in age and spirit throughout their entire lives. The family was in Jerome, Idaho, by 1931, and they settled in Idaho Falls about 1941. The 4 girls (Junior now in college) spent their teenage years in the yellow apartment building at Elm and S. Boulevard.
Ruth Corinne became "Corky" as a child and the name stayed with her to this day. Corky was guided lovingly by Pauline, was nurtured by her brother Junior, and grew to become a wonderful person. She was musical as far back as she can remember. Each day was ended with the girls all gathered in the apartment alcove (which also served as a bedroom). Corky playing guitar and singing duet with her sister Bert, (Songs like "Cowboy Jack" and "You Are My Sunshine"), Pauline close by humming along and tapping her hand in rhythm.
Corky went on to study music at Idaho State College in Pocatello. At the age of 20 she met and married Morgan Parks, thus ending her college career but not her love of music. She went on to add playing the dobro guitar and the organ into her 90's. Her musical seeds were planted into her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren and many of those seeds blossom today.
Morgan and Corky, Morgan being 5 years her senior, tied the knot March 31, 1946. Morgan, fresh out of the Navy and a local boy, was able to build a home right away on his boyhood property located at the corner of N. Holmes and Lomax. Morgan's mother, known as Mother Parks, lived on the same property, "over-the fence". Within a few years Pauline and Lovell would relocate to just 3 doors down Lomax street. Corky loved the tight-knit family community as did her sons Steve and Dave, being able to spend time with "grandma over" and "grandma down".
Morgan soon became an Idaho Falls fireman and Corky lovingly talked, even to this day, of the "wonder years" of being able to walk the boys down to the fire station to see their dad. Life was good for a young mother with two sons in a tight-knit family in a small town.
Corky was a stay at home working mom, sewing drapes professionally for Ahlstrom's Furniture when she wasn't baking bread, canning, sewing, greeting her boys after school with a cookie and sometimes a recorded radio drama of Hopalong Cassidy. Nothing fancy but total stay at home mom support which continued until the boys went off to college. Her personal interests were making clothes and especially Duplicate Bridge. Pauline taught bridge and ran the Idaho Falls Bridge Club. Corky had a life-long love of bridge, running the Idaho Falls Bridge Club from the time Pauline retired, until she was 92 years old. Like her mother, she became a "Life Master", and like her mother cherished every bridge playing friend and every opportunity to play.
Her sons went on to start their own families. Steve married Martha McTammany and has a son named Morgan Tyler who married Tara Wiles, all four of them becoming teachers in the Twin Falls area. Steve and Martha live in San Diego, CA. much of the time, and Morgan and Tara live in Morgan's childhood home near Twin Falls.
Dave married Kristina Van Dolzer and they have a son Sean and a daughter Shannon. Sean married Teresa Peters, has two daughters, Courtney and Alaina and live in Maryland. Shannon married Jeffrey Heineman, has a daughter Elyse and two sons, Nicholas and James and lives in Maryland as well.
Corky focused her whole life on interacting with the people she loved. She truly appreciated every minute with every person. She had the rare ability to overlook the negative and focus on the positive. Corky was fortunate enough to be able to live at Lincoln Court for a few months where she grew to love the staff and facility in general. During this stay Dave was on site while I had to rely on daily phone conversations. In each conversation mom made a point to establish that she was fine and she tirelessly inquired about how I was until she was satisfied that I was also fine and being as happy as I could be. This was the essence of Corky. She loved life and she wouldn't rest until she felt that those she loved were also happy with their lives.
No services are planned at this time.
Cremation was performed under the direction of Buck-Murphy Funeral Home.
