Lawrence "Larry" Martin Angyal - January 29, 1962 - April 11, 2024

Departed: 04/11/2024 (Monett)
Obituary Preview: Lawrence “Larry” Martin Angyal, aka “Bud”, 62, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away April 11, 2024. He was born on January 29, 1962 in Monett, Missouri to Lawrence William Angyal and Edna Mae (Conley) Angyal.
Larry is preceded in death by his father and his grandparents Zoltan and Evelyn Angyal, and Martin and Mary Conley.
Larry is survived by his wife of thirty-five years Kristy (Moore); four children - Lawrence “Tanner” of North Little Rock, Patrick (Connie) of Springdale, Aryn (Wade) of Plano, Texas and Emily of Carbondale, Illinois; mother Edna; sisters Lynn (Dale) Chrisman and Suzanne (Keith) DePriest; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Larry graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Architecture in 1986. It was there he met his loving wife Kristy. His architecture career began in Allentown, Pennsylvania, prior to him practicing in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He was a partner with his wife in the firm Kip A. Moore & Associates Architects. Together they worked on many commercial projects throughout the country. His passion, however, was for residential design. He loved meeting with his clients to understand their needs and design the home of their dreams. There was no project too small that was not worthy of his fullest passion and creativity. For Larry, there were no greater treasures than his family and his faith. He was a stay-at-home dad to his children. By day he cared for his children and by night he supported his family working on his architecture projects. He led by example, teaching honesty, integrity, patience, diligence and appreciation. He also instilled in his children a lifelong curiosity for the world and taught them to seek out knowledge. If anything was worth doing, it was worth doing right. He was very meticulous. Larry also taught them to care for what they have been blessed with and to value choice craftsmanship. To say he adored and cherished his mother and sisters would be an understatement. What a special blessing they were to him!
He loved growing up in Missouri and especially his trips to Grandma and Grandpa Conley’s farm in Wentworth. In his teens, he loved traveling with his dad on his candy and tobacco route, and later routes selling and delivering tires for Friend Tire to various establishments across Oklahoma and Kansas. Many years later in his adulthood, he retraced his father’s delivery routes through these two states, visiting many of those locations, some of which are still in operation. The joy in his eyes and excitement in his voice while sharing these memories with his family was priceless.
Larry was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he volunteered as sacristan for 24 years - 13 of which he served as sole sacristan. He also served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and usher. Larry was dependable. The priests and deacons he served appreciated his attention to detail and his care in preparing for Mass.
Larry was a man of many interests. He was a member of the Two-Cylinder Tractor Club and proudly drove the John Deere tractor his grandfather used on the Conley Farm. Larry coached his daughters’ school soccer team to many victories. He was involved in his sons’ Boy Scout activities and spent many nights camping in the bed of his truck. He had a deep and eclectic appreciation of music and for many years patronized the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Larry himself took banjo lessons and enjoyed developing his own musical talents.
The family of Larry Angyal acknowledges with sincere appreciation the comforting messages and other expressions of kindness during this time of bereavement. Special thanks to the ICU doctors and nurses at Baptist Hospital-Springhill in North Little Rock for their loving care and compassion to the family. May God bless you all.
Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pierce City, MO, with Father Matt Rehrauer officiating. Interment will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Pierce City. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church. James Marvin Johnson - April 10, 1944 - March 14, 2024

Departed: 03/14/2024 (Monett)
Obituary Preview: J.J., James Marvin Johnson passed from this life to God’s eternal presence on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, AR.
He was born April 10, 1944 in Rolla, MO to Elmer Levi Johnson and Alta Edna Plank Johnson. He was raised with four siblings, sister Elner, brother Bud, sisters Mary and Helen. J.J. graduated from Monett High School in 1962 and served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969.
He married Lynda King in 1970, forming a blended family with her two children, daughter Jackie, and son, Shannon. J.J. and Lynda had two sons, Greg who died only days after being born, and Stephen. During their sixteen year marriage, J.J. worked as a salesman for various companies including Friend Tire. J.J.’s passion was always cars. He described himself as a Rat Rodder. J.J. has had more cars than anyone could ever keep track of. They varied from what most people would consider scrap to pristine showroom pieces. He had everything from classic muscle cars to ordinary family sedans. He loved getting something that needed some (or even better, a lot of) restoration, putting it back together and passing it on to a new owner. While he stuck close to Monett in his later years, he traveled around the country earlier in life. Some of his travels were as a truck driver, but he also spent time touring the Western United States on a motorcycle, enjoying many of those miles with his brother Bud. J.J. was a unique individual, never conforming to the expectations of society, and he wasn’t apologetic about it. While he couldn’t tell you why and he might not have even believed it, his presence was appreciated by many when he was around. Jeanette "Janey" (Mermoud) Tull - May 07, 1927 - March 06, 2024

Departed: 03/06/2024 (Monett)
Obituary Preview: TULL--Jeanette “Janey” (Mermoud) Griffin Tull, 96, of Grandview, Missouri, died Wednesday, March 6, 2024.
Jeanette “Janey” (Mermoud) Griffin Tull was born May 7th, 1927, in Monett, Missouri, to Jules Frederic “Fred” Mermoud and Willa Ophelia (Henbest) Mermoud. She graduated from Monett High School and attended The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Janey had fond memories growing up in Monett on the family’s dairy farm. She always called her father her special “guardian angel.” Her father became successful in his pursuits as a retail dairyman, featuring Guernsey milk products. Janey enjoyed feeding and working with the animals, especially going places with her father to help others in the area with their livestock and crops. The Mermoud family was actively involved in the community, school, and church. Janey would recount stories during World War II when the family would often meet the trains that traveled through Monett with servicemen on their way to basic training, and distribute milk bottles to the soldiers from the family dairy farm. Because gas was rationed during the war years, Janey lived in town during her high school years and supplemented her income by working at the drug store and the shoe store. In 1943, she was selected as “Miss Monett.”
In 1947, she married G. Chandler “Chan” Griffin, who served in the U.S. Army during World War II. They lived in Cassville, Missouri, for five years and forged their careers. Chan was a teacher and elementary school principal; Janey worked in in retail sales and as a bank bookkeeper. They moved to Kansas City in 1953, then to Grandview in 1954. Chan worked as a school principal and Janey worked as a district secretary in the administration offices of Center School District. Chan passed away in 1963. With her deep faith and resiliency, Janey stayed active in her career and the community. In 1964, Janey began working as a clerk in the administration office of the Hickman Mills School District. She served as Building and Grounds Secretary until her retirement in 1991.
A dog lover and fancier, Janey was the owner and breeder of a kennel called “Chandler’s Cockers” for eight years. From her efforts, fine champions were produced. She served as a clerk officer and President of the Heart of America Cocker Spaniel Specialty Club of Kansas City.
In 1967, Janey married David L. Tull, who served in U.S. Navy in World War II. They had a wonderful life together while performing countless hours of community service. Dave served six years as Chief Protocol for the Richards-Gebaur Air Base Community Council. Janey enjoyed assisting him with his duties and together they supported veteran efforts.
Janey held several leadership positions on community boards and committees during her lifetime. In 1984, she served as General Chairman of the Missouri Educational Office Personnel Convention at The Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. Devoted to charitable works and the principles of patriotism, Janey was a life member of BPO of Does (KC Drove #74) and Missouri State BPO of Does. She served as Chairman of the 1982 BPO of Does Grand Lodge Conventions held in Kansas City. She was an active member of Pete Dover VFW and DEARS auxiliary of Elks Lodge 2088; life member of the auxiliary; National Home for children; DAV (chapter 2) Ladies Auxiliary. Janey was a talented pianist, and continued to play the piano into her nineties. She enjoyed playing jazz and would improvise melodies on the keys. When visiting her in recent years, she performed for her nieces and nephews, and ended her performance with a smile and catchy phrase, “That’s all, folks.”
Janey was a lovely lady, always perfectly coiffed and elegantly dressed. She was a friend to many who came into her sphere, offering a listening ear and encouraging words to lift others.
Janey was preceded in death by her husbands, Chandler Griffin (1963) and David Tull (2011); her stepdaughter Patricia Ann Karopchinsky; her parents, Fred and Willa Mermoud; her sister, Edith Callaway, and brother-in-law James Robert Callaway; her sister, Emmeline Mermoud; her brother, Jules Frank Mermoud, and sister-in-law, Marilyn (Hudson) Mermoud; her nieces Lynn Leonhardt and Phyllis Glasby; her nephews Ronald Jay Mermoud, James Robert Callaway, Jr., and Fredric Callaway.
She is survived by her niece Jean (Mermoud) Pickett and nephew Jules Frank Mermoud, Jr.; her godchildren Alicia and Dustin Bigelow; her great nieces and nephews; and her step grandchildren, Ryan and Paul Karopchinsky.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to dear neighbors and friends Jackie and Marshall Bigelow for their compassionate care for Janey, especially over the past few years.
Embodying the philosophy of living life to its fullest, Janey’s parting words on phone calls were always “take care of each other and don’t forget to have some fun.” Janey is now in heaven with her loved ones and undoubtedly sharing her musical talent at the piano by accompanying the celestial choir of angels.
