Obituary Preview: Kay B. Bigley, 80, formerly of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Masonic Village of Elizabethtown, where she and her husband were residing. She was the loving wife of Richard E. Bigley, and they celebrated 59 years of marriage in August. Born in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Nellie (Brown) Faith. Kay was a 1960 graduate of Scottdale High School. After graduating in 1963 from the Homestead Hospital School of Nursing, she worked as a registered nurse for 30 years at the Frick Community Hospital before retiring in 1998. Kay was a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, and swimming.
Surviving in addition to her husband Richard is a son Paul, husband of Debbie Bigley, Troy, OH; daughter Jill, wife of John Lesniak, Elizabethtown; and three grandchildren Jenna Kay, Jessica, and Matthew. She was also preceded in death by a brother Jerry Faith, and two sisters, Joan Sowansky and Susan Faith.

He is greeted in Heaven by grandparents Kristian Philoon and Dee Dee Null and also many great grandparents. Levi is mourned on Earth by his great grandparents, Robert Ross and Lorraine Ferland of Sparks, MD , grandparents Allen and Marion Schultz (Manion) of Manheim, grandparents Robert and Deborah Lefever (Elliott) of Strasburg, many (great) aunts, (great) uncles, cousins and so many dear friends.

Randie was born April 3rd, 1966, in Lancaster County. He was the son of the late LaVerne Devlin and Nancy Brubaker. He was a hardworking man operating his own landscaping business. In Randie's spare time he enjoyed reconditioning vehicles, especially his truck. He enjoyed being with his children, dog, and family.
Randie is survived by his children, Scott partner of Sarah, Gabrielle, and Ryan; three grandchildren Kayden, Jason, and Greyson; a brother Ronald husband of Linda, a sister Robin wife of Jerald; nieces Hope wife of Carol, Amy wife of Lewis, and Shelly partner of Justin; a nephew Bradlee; two great nieces and five great nephews; his dog Rugar; former spouse Trish and the rest of his family and friends. In addition to his parents Randie is preceded in death by his brother Richard Devlin, and his Aunts.

Gerald E. Kemmerer - November 17, 1931 - August 25, 2022

Obituary Preview: Gerald E. Kemmerer, 90, of Elizabethtown, PA passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, PA where he was a resident for the last 14 years.
Jerry was born on November 17, 1931 in Tatamy, Pennsylvania to the late Earl Kemmerer and Eva Fegley Lowe. He was married to Patricia A. (Remaly) Kemmerer, his high school sweetheart, Easton Area High School Class of 1949, for 69 years. He graduated from the American Institute of Banking, Stonier Graduate School of Banking and the Commercial Lending School, Oklahoma University.
Jerry was a well-known banker in Easton, PA and one of the longest running bankers in the state. He was employed by Easton National Bank for 45 years as a Senior Officer, Chief Lending Officer and Secretary of the Board. After retiring from Merchants\ENBT he served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Lending officer for Twin Rivers Community Bank. The final years of his banking career included being Chief Lender of the Nazareth National Bank in Nazareth, PA, Business Development Officer at both Merchants Bank of Bangor, PA and Commerce Bank of Marlton, New Jersey. In 2007 he retired after 57 years of service.
Jerry passionately served as a volunteer in various capacities for the Easton Suburban Water Authority, Easton Area Industrial Land Developers, Business / Industry Professionals of Palmer Township, Palmer Kiwanis, TRACC, Easton Area Joint School Authority, Children’s Home of Easton, Two Rivers Health Foundation, Northampton County Historical and Genealogical Society, ACBS, Risk Management Association, American Red Cross Chairman and recipient of the Clara Barton Award, Workforce Investment Board Director, Mary Meuser Memorial Library Board of Directors Charter Member, Easton Hospital Board of Trustees, Northampton County Hospital Authority Treasurer, Junior Achievement, and United Way of Easton Area Treasurer. He was a member of Olivet United Presbyterian Church for over 70 years serving as a trustee, deacon and an ordained elder.
Jerry is survived by his two children, Jeffrey and his wife Susan (Haddad) of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina and Laurie Kemmerer Peiffer of West Chester, PA. Four grandsons, Bryan and Justin Kemmerer and Ryan (wife Meredith) and Kyle (wife Courtney) Peiffer. One great grandson, Landon Peiffer.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am in the Sell Chapel, Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, PA on Friday, September 2, 2022. A service of celebration will begin at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow.

Born in Elizabethtown, she was the daughter of the late Clarence N. and Blanche (Smith) Shelly. Mary Ann was a former cashier for 27 years at Weis Markets, Elizabethtown. She was a member of Florin Church of the Brethren, Mount Joy. She enjoyed flower gardening & landscaping, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband Fred is a son Scott, husband of Corie Shoop, West Chester; a daughter Roxann Koser, Mount Joy; four grandchildren Katelyn Koser, Alex husband of Emily Koser, Erin and Cara Shoop; and a sister Dorothy Geib, Mount Joy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Edith Hess.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Lester J. and Jennie A. Shaffer Bradley. Jay was the loving husband of the late Sandra L. Kaylor Bradley who died in October of 2012. Jay and Sandy were married for 48 years and he missed her dearly during the last 10 years. For over 39 years Jay was a faithful employee for National Standard Corporation which later became Mount Joy Wire. Over the years he would occasionally help his relatives at Charles E. Groff & Sons Moving & Storage Company, Mount Joy. Jay was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Elizabethtown. He was a member of the Lancaster Metal Detecting Club and enjoyed watching NASCAR races. His interests included hunting, fishing, and visiting the Mount Joy Diner several times a day to visit with all his local friends. Jay had a deep passion for his family, and cherished the time he could spend with his beloved grandchildren whom he was immensely proud of.
Surviving is a daughter, Angela L. wife of Tim Wachtel of Hendersonville, TN, a son Darren L. husband of Kelly Bradley of Stewartsown, and four grandchildren: Gillian, Alex, Natalie, and Parker. Preceding him in death are three sisters: Betty Jane Reider, Alma May Groff, and Grace Bradley.

Born June 9, 1928 in Johnstown, son of the late Michael ‘Max’ Tondora and Caroline (Bast) Tondora. Preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Nancy (Brown) Tondora and sister Elizabeth Tondora. Survived by daughter Lisa and son-in-law Sekhar Ramaswamy, daughter Marcia Tondora, son Stephen and daughter-in-law Alice, granddaughter Sara Ramaswamy and grandson John D. Tondora.
John was an Army veteran and was retired from Bethlehem Steel. He was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Johnstown, where he served on the Board of Deacons, the Session, and as Treasurer.
Mr. Tondora was a member of Cambria Lodge #278 F&AM in Johnstown, as well as York Rite and Scottish Rite. He was a lifetime member of DeMolay.

Kreider, 83, of Lancaster and formerly of Elizabethtown, passed away into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 12, 2022 at Calvary Fellowship Homes, Lancaster. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late, Jacob Arley and Dorothy Frye Craun. Flora was the loving wife of the late Allen H. Kreider and they were married for 60 years before his passing in 2018. She was a proud 1957 graduate of Elizabethtown High School. Flora was a member of Calvary Bible Church, Mount Joy. Together Flora and her husband Allen, were the owners of the former Mt. Hope Motel and the former Dutch Kountry Kitchen, both of Manheim. She also worked in the kitchen at Mount Calvary Christian School for a number of years. Flora enjoyed spending time with her beloved family, playing games and recently wrote her own book, “The Thorn between the Roses”. She loved to cook, especially for other people.
Surviving are four children: Beverly Kreider, Colorado Springs, CO, Edward (Valerie) Kreider, Landisville, Debra (Michael) Gerdin, Colorado Springs, CO, and Clifford Kreider, Mount Joy; six grandchildren, Rebecca (Mark) Masleh, Shaun (Monica) Kreider, Rachel (Maggie), Matthew, Hannah and Gabrielle Gerdin; two great-grandchildren; Joshua and Abigail Masleh; and a brother, Charles Craun, of Colorado. Preceding her in death were two brothers, Robert and James Craun.
The family would like to thank Hospice and Community Care and the staff at Calvary Fellowship Homes for their kind and loving care of Flora during her recent illness.

(Stehman) Kauffman. They celebrated 69 years of marriage on Valentine’s Day this past February. Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late J. Harold and late Minnie (Holbein) Kauffman.
Bob was a nationally-known dairy farmer for 56 years before retiring and served his community as a former Elizabethtown School Board member and a Supervisor for West Donegal Township. His love for the dairy business was shown through his membership and leadership in the Holstein Associations on county, state and national levels. He was the director of the Dairy Herd Improvement Association and a former 4-H leader. Bob served for 25 years as a board member of the former Commonwealth National Bank of Elizabethtown. He was a member of Community Bible Church, Marietta.
Surviving in addition to his wife Mim are two daughters, Susan A. Kauffman, wife of David Unger, Elizabethtown; Linda K., wife of Michael (Kapp) Brown, Mount Joy; a son, R. Steven, husband of Judy Kauffman, Manheim; seven grandchildren: Justin Howes, Travis Howes, Mitchel Kauffman, Tonya Leadman, Andrew Brown, Jake Kauffman and Danielle Ginder; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Erma H., wife of Titus Stoner, and Anna Mae Kauffman, both of Landisville; and a brother, Richard H., husband of Eleanor Kauffman, Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his brother, J. Harold, Jr., of Landisville.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy for their care of Bob in recent weeks. We especially thank Jonathan Ostalaza of Oak Leaf Manor North in Landisville for his outstanding service to Bob and Mim.

Born in St. Joseph, MI, he was the son of the late Franklin and Frances (Nimitz) Berndt. He was the loving husband of Judith A. Logan, and the late Mildred Berndt (2000). Vernon was a civil engineer who retired as the manager of the materials division after 30 years with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (1967-1997). He was a member, and choir member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lancaster PA. Vernon spent over 30 years in Mahwah, NJ, where he raised his children with his wife Millie and where he was a proud member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He enjoyed landscaping and gardening, and volunteered his expertise to family, neighbors and church. In earlier years on a typical Saturday, he and his son Jon could be found caring for the church grounds in addition to his own. He was an avid golfer, who recorded 2 “holes in one”. He loved spending time with friends and family, but his greatest pleasure was the time with his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife Judy is his daughter Diane Livingston and four grandchildren, Brittany, Ashley, Kyle, and Natalie; and his daughter in-law, Cyndi Berndt. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by his son Jonathan (2021).

Cloy R. Zeller, 83, of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania peacefully transitioned to eternal life on Tuesday May 24, 2022. He was the widower of the late Lois J. (McCormick) Zeller. Born in Mount Joy, he was the son of the late Charles H. Zeller and Dorothy J. (Risser) Charles.
Bob attended the former Mount Joy High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1955-1959 following in the footsteps of his Father who served in the Army Air Corp. Bob also proudly served in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard in Middletown from 1978-1980. He worked at Raybestos-Manhattan, Incorporated in Manheim for 30 years until the plant closed in 1990.
Surviving are three daughters, Vicki, wife of Jim Welch, Texas; Christy, wife of Keith Holland, Florida; and Debra Jackson, Mount Joy; one grandchild, Rebecca Welch who gave him great joy; and two brothers, Charles and Donald (Sylvia) Zeller, Mount Joy; brother-in-laws, Jim (Karen) and Doug (Lois) McCormick reside in Nashville, TN; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. Two sisters preceded him into glory, Jacqueline Brady and Claudette Miller as well as his in-laws Lillie and Vester McCormick, Tom McCormick, Bob McCormick, Jack McCormick, Frances Hopper, and Barbara Rigsby. Services will be private. She was a graduate of McCaskey High School class of 1967. Sharon was a member and former Sunday school teacher at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Mount Joy. She enjoyed reading, watching tennis (Roger Federer her favorite), and was an avid North Carolina Tar Heels fan, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandsons.
Surviving in addition to her husband Mike is a daughter Wendy, wife of Otis Moore, Maytown; two grandsons Kyan Schload, Miles Moore; two sisters Gale wife of Gary Jones, Quakertown, Dolores wife of Richard Pfizenmaier, Waxhaw, NC., and a son in-law Korey Schload, Marietta. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Melissa Schload.

John was an IT software consultant for Select Medical, Mechanicsburg, and Associated Wholesalers, Inc., York. John was a member of Florin Church of the Brethren, Mount Joy.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Pat, is a daughter Christina Martin wife of Eric Junga, Silver Spring, MD; a son Kenton husband of Courtney Martin, Enola; two brothers Mark B. husband of Jean Martin, Sarasota, FL, Fred B. husband of Iris Martin, Elizabethtown; and a sister Orpha B. Martin, Lancaster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Joel B., Richard B., George B. Martin, and a sister Sara Ann Keener.

Harris I. Haffner - November 14, 1925 - May 01, 2022

Obituary Preview: Harris I. Haffner, 96, of Ephrata, formerly of Dresher, PA, died Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy, PA. In 1955 he married Ruth King Allem who preceded him in death on September 1, 2018. Born in Abington, PA, he was the son of the late Paul and Anna (Insinger) Haffner. Harris graduated from Abington High School in June 1943 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army. After attending college with the Army’s ASTP, Harris took infantry basic training at Ft. Benning, GA. He served as a cannoneer in the pack artillery of the U.S. Tenth Mountain Division during WW II. He was particularly proud of his service with this unit as they spearheaded the final drive ousting the German Army from Italy. He graduated from Drexel University in 1949 with a degree in mechanical engineering. After a 35-year career as in instrumentation engineer, he retired and moved to Ephrata.
Surviving is a son Robert H. Haffner (Shelley) of State College, PA; a daughter Nancy Harris (Chuck-deceased) of Reinholds, PA; 7 grandchildren, Amy Goldstein (Ryan), Andrew Gries, Ryan Haffner (Brenna), Eric Haffner (Ester), Megan Ladd (Tyler), Jeffrey Harris (Laura), and Kathryn Seitz (Zane); and 5 great-grandchildren Sara Goldstein, Cora and Garrett Haffner, Charlie Ladd, and Olivia Harris. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his brother Paul, twin sister Elizabeth Palmer, son Ricky Haffner, daughter Judy Gries, and son in-law Chuck Harris.

Born in East Hempfield Township, she was the daughter of the late Elmer S. and Sarah Baum Stehman. She was the loving wife of Vernon Melhorn Wolgemuth with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. Arlene was a 1952 graduate of East Hempfield High School. She enjoyed buying and selling collectables and antiques, counted cross stitching, going to auctions, wildlife, flowers and flower gardening. Arlene especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be fondly remembered for her potato salad, toss salad, and hoho cake.
Surviving is a daughter Erin L. wife of Paul “Lefty” Gardner, Marietta; a son Marc W. Mossburg and his spouse Murat Kabacaoglu, Fort Myers, FL; 6 grandchildren, Daniel, Andrew, Bethany, Vincent, Lucas, and Caleb; 4 great-grandchildren, Riley, Abbie, Landon, and Alexander; 2 sisters, Lillian Ritchie, Monongahela and Becky wife of Steve Ostrzycki, Huntsville, AL, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands and parents she was preceded in death by three brothers Robert, Curtis, and Donald.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Celebration of Life service at Calvary Bible church, 990 4th St. ext. Charleroi, on Thursday, April 21 2022 at 11:00 AM. There will be a public viewing at the Hogan-Melenyzer Funeral Home, 226 E. Fallowfield Ave. Charleroi, on Wednesday April 20, 2022 from 4:00 -7:00 PM. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Obituary Preview: Marie Ulmer, 96, of Masonic Villages, Elizabethtown, formerly of Millersville, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2022. Daughter of the late Milton and Mary Beazley, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert G. Ulmer, immediately after WWII; he passed away in 1992.
A 1943 graduate of Manheim Township HS, Marie attended Rider College. She worked briefly and very successfully as an employment search consultant for Availability in the late 1970’s.
Faith and family were her focus throughout life. She liked to travel and especially enjoyed family vacations in Ocean City, NJ, rides through Lancaster County, preparing meals and spending time with her children and their families. Marie was the go-to hostess for large holiday gatherings and reunion picnics and faithfully visited her many friends and relatives, providing transportation, shopping and support.
Marie’s strong relationship with her Lord Jesus sustained her and was an ever-present source of profound joy. A prayer chain captain, she shared her faith openly and always asked friends and acquaintances if she could pray with them and for them. A true giver, Marie supported various Christian ministries, even sacrificially. She was a beloved 4th grade Sunday School teacher at Emmanuel and Redeemer Lutheran Churches in Lancaster for almost 40 years and is remembered for treating each class to her special chocolate layer cake as she hosted “The Ten Commandments” movie.
Marie is survived by three sons, Bob, Jr. (Jean), Elizabethtown; Tom (Barb), Landisville, and John, Washington Boro, and by a daughter, Sue Whiteside, Lancaster, and also by 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters Mildred and Dorothy and brother Russell.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Marshall was an avid reader, news junkie, and a classic rock fan. He was also devoted to helping others through KPets as a volunteer with “Kirby,” his therapy dog.
Surviving in addition to his wife Cindy are two sons, Jason, husband of Sheri Ward, Ephrata, and Kyle Ward, Portage, MI; a daughter Sarah, wife of Mike Hornberger, Lititz; and a brother, Steven Marshall, Indianapolis, IN.

Additionally, he was the piano player for Bob Neff and Youth for Christ. He wrote, composed and published many pieces of music as well. David also taught piano and trumpet lessons for many years.
Surviving are two sons, Charles, husband of Angela Adams, Mountville, John C. Adams, Shomong, NJ; and a grandson Connor Adams. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a brother Nelson Shickley, and two sisters, Eleanor Jackson and Ruth Goodhart.

Kenneth was a 32nd degree Mason at Ephrata Lodge, #665, a member of the Lancaster and Reading Lodge of Perfection, Lancaster Scottish Rite, Reading Rajah Shrine, Lancaster Liederkranz, Garden Club of Lancaster County, National Audubon Society, and the American Legion. Kenneth was also a Certified Golf Course Superintendent for 52 years, Past President of PA Central Golf Course Superintendent Association, and Past President of PA turf grass Council. Loving and devoted husband of Bertha (Good) Dietrich since 1965. Amazing father of Sherry (Mark) Yoder, Brian, and Christina (Eric) Knoedler. Ken was very proud of the accomplishments of his grandchildren, Samantha and Matthew Yoder. He made sure to play an active role in their lives. Ken’s devotion to his family was always a priority. His generous smile jokes, and stories about the good old days will always be remembered. His accountability and selflessness will be kept alive and missed by all who knew him. Our family will miss his gentle soul, intelligence, kindness and thoughtfulness. Ken loved puttering in his workshop and taking care of his property. With his wife, Bertha they traveled to all 50 United States, and also to Canada, Mexico, Europe and the Caribbean
