Obituary Preview: Paul D. James, 64, of Lancaster County, died peacefully on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Clarence W. and Esther Murry James. For over 34 years Paul worked for Anderson Pretzel Company, Lancaster. He was a 1977 graduate of Lampeter Strasburg High School. Paul enjoyed hunting and fishing in Tioga County, and playing his guitar.
Surviving are two sons: Paul Jr. husband of Rosanna James of Nesquehoning, Mark James of Marietta, a daughter, Malynda wife of David Haun of Lancaster, eight grandchildren, a sister, Janet Welch-Grebinger wife of Thomas of Lititz, and a brother, Robert husband of Jan James of Harrison Valley. Preceding him in death is a brother, Charles James.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Paul’s funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 216 South Broad Street, Lititz, on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Family will receive friends on Thursday morning from 9:30 AM till time of service. Interment will be in Longeneckers Reformed Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster.

Obituary Preview: Verna M. Habecker, 84, of Lititz, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the United Zion Retirement Community. Born in East Donegal Township, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Ada Hossler Lehman. Verna was the loving wife of the late Chester E. “Chet” Habecker who died in March of 2020, following 60 years of marriage. For many years Verna worked in food preparation for Landis Poultry, Lititz; previously, she was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at United Zion Retirement Community. She was a faithful and active member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill, Lititz, where she taught Sunday school.
For over 40 years she was a member of Baron Stiegel Lions Club where she served as president of both the Lions and Lioness Clubs. Verna was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award from Lions Club International for her dedicated work for the club. She was a member of Brickerville Senior Citizens. Verna enjoyed traveling through 40 states, going on bus trips, visiting “Habecker’s Hideaway” the family cabin in Centre County, playing Bingo, reading, and participating in social activities at United Zion Retirement Community. Verna loved people from all walks of life and made friends easily where ever she went. She had a deep passion for her family and cherished the time she could spend with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters: Melissa “Missy” Woodruff of Boyertown, Geraldine “Gerri” wife of Tim Hollinger of Lititz, three grandchildren: Drew Hollinger, Kyle Hollinger, Keely Woodruff, two brothers: Leroy husband of Nancy Lehman of Penryn, John husband of Elizabeth Lehman of Harrison Valley, and a sister, Betty Gerlach of Lititz. Preceding her in death is a son-in-law Patrick Woodruff, two brothers: Harold and Marlin Lehman, and a sister, Mildred Pott.

Obituary Preview: J. Lloyd Rohrer, 94, of Manheim, and formerly of Lititz, died peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the Mennonite Home, Lancaster. Born in West Lampeter Township, he was the son of the late Jacob H. and Anna Groff Rohrer. Lloyd was the loving husband of the late Lorraine Burkhart Rohrer who died in December of 2004 following 53 years of marriage. Having a passion for working throughout his life; Lloyd was the owner and operator of his own farm in West Lampeter Township, and worked for Roger E. Gerhart Excavating, Lititz; he continued his employment working as a Real Estate Broker for Kingsway Realty, Lancaster, until he fully retired in 2019 at the young age of 91. A faithful and active member of Neffsville Mennonite Church, Lancaster; Lloyd served on church council and as church treasurer. He served as a Warwick Township Supervisor. He was a member of the former Warwick Township Lions Club, and the former Hemlock Haven Hunting Club in Mifflin County. In his early years he was active with Future Farmers of America, and the Pennsylvania State Future Farmers of America Band, and 4-H. He enjoyed going to Pine Lane Retreat in Lycoming County, hunting, and snowmobiling. Lloyd loved his family, and cherished the time he could spend with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons: Larry B. husband of Carol Rohrer of Gordon, TX, Dennis L. Rohrer of Lititz, Dwight E. husband of Jennifer Rohrer of Manheim, a daughter, Beth L. Rohrer of Centreville, VA, nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and a sister, Ruth Nissley of Lititz. Preceding him in death are two sisters: Mary Swarr, Edna Buckwalter, and two brothers: Melvin G. and Harold G. Rohrer.

Born on August 3rd, 1959 in Olean, NY. She was the daughter of Sharon Goodman Hemphill of Shinglehouse, PA and the late William Hemphill. She was the loving wife of Donald E. “Don” Graeff, and they would have celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary this December. She is preceded in death by her first husband, the late Timothy L. Rumsey who passed in 1989. Ann graduated from St. James Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Hornell, NY. She began her nursing journey at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Labor and Delivery, located in Coudersport PA. She then moved to Lancaster with Don, where she worked at Ephrata Community Hospital in the OR, and then retired from UPMC Labor and Delivery, in Lititz. Ann dedicated her life to caring for others, as she was a registered nurse for forty years. Ann attended the Lititz United Methodist Church and was a member of the Lancaster OES. She enjoyed reading and doing sudoku puzzles, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. The light of her life were her children, but her favorite title was "Nana". Her most treasured possession were her 5 grandchildren; Timmy, Sam, Owen, Jaxson & Chinasa.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are four children: Luke Rumsey, Lane wife of Anderson Anaekwe, Timothy husband of Racheal Rumsey and Dana wife of Derek Dejesus, five grandchildren, a sister, Elaine wife of Daniel Austin, two brothers, John Hemphill, Thomas husband of Danielle Hemphill and mother-in-law, Miriam A. Graeff. Along with a large extended family. She was preceded in death by two sons, Adam Thomas Rumsey and Kevin Michael Graeff.

Fox and Mabel Meyers Zeutzius and the step son of the late Edward Zeutzius. Carl was the loving husband of Elizabeth “Betty” Altieri Fox and they would have observed 67 years of marriage this coming September. He graduated from Easton High School in 1949 and later attended Penn State Allentown where he later graduated with an associates degree in Industrial Engineering. A Veteran, Carl proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, 1951 – 1955, during the Korean Conflict, where he was a SSgt with the 1st Recon Battalion. He received the Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He worked for Dixie Cup Co., Easton, before working as a manager of materials and production planning at the former RCA, Lancaster and Scranton. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, boating, bowling, golfing and keeping busy with projects around the house. He was passionate about cooking and grilling and spending time with his beloved family. He always had a lifelong dream of becoming a pilot.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Betty, are two sons, Craig M. husband of Cherie Fox, of Mount Wolf, Kyle M. husband of Lori Fox, of Lancaster and a half-brother, Ken Zeutzius, of Texas. She was born Feb. 25, 1935 to Eugene and Mary (Losensky) McCall and had one brother, the late Kenneth McCall. She grew up in Lancaster County, PA, graduated in 1952 from McCasky High School, married 1955-1973, and lived in Detroit, MI, from 1968-2001 prior to moving back home to Willow Street, Pennsylvania.
Gerry worked at Alcoa Aluminum in Lancaster in the early 50’s. Later she dedicated 28 years working as a ward secretary at Botsford Hospital while in Detroit, Michigan. She was dedicated to providing a warm, safe and loving home for her children. This she over-achieved.
Some of her favorite memories surrounded her childhood living on the Losensky and Cammauf family farms in Millport, PA. Fresh air, plowed fields, home-cooked family meals, plus the comfort of loving relatives all fondly resonated in her stories and from her smile.
She is survived by her 3 children, Kathy McCauley, Curtis Shaub, Steven Shaub, 5 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

Born in Myerstown, he was the son of the late Edwin and Ellen Kercher Sheetz. He was the loving husband of Grace Ulrich Yost and they would have observed their 65th wedding anniversary in November of this year. Russell served in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps during the Korean War. He was a 1953 graduate of Myerstown High School. He helped to design and build his own home. For over 20 years Russell worked at Warner Lambert, Lititz; he continued working as a rural mail carrier for the Lititz Post Office for 22 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Lititz Springs VFW Post 1463, the Lititz American Legion, Garden Spot Post 56, and Camping World. His interests included: camping, bowling, traveling, and rooting for the Phillies, Eagles, and his favorite driver Kyle Busch with NASCAR Racing. Russell and his wife Grace loved traveling and touring in their motor home in all 50 states including Alaska and Hawaii. Russell had a life-long passion for his beloved family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife Grace, are two sons: Russell Lamar husband of Deb Yost of Lancaster, Randell L. husband of Linda Yost of Lititz, a daughter, Kimberly A. wife of Robert Massar of Newmanstown, nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and a sister, Barbara Ann Dennis of Lincoln, CA. Born in Centerville, he was the son of the late Richard and Ruth Witmer Garman. Jim was the loving husband of Rosene Gerlach Garman and they observed their 53rd wedding anniversary in March of this year. He was one of the original founders of Elite Coach, Ephrata, a charter bus and tour company; he later founded with his wife Rosene, Advance Coach Company of Lititz; and they operated the company for ten years. Jim devoted over 35 years in the Motor Coach Industry. Previously he was a driver for Air Products, Lancaster. Jim attended Speedwell Heights Church, Lititz; previously he attended Manor Church, Lancaster. In his early years Jim was licensed in ordained ministry through the Mennonite Church, and served in ministry at South Christian Street Mennonite Church, Lancaster. Jim was involved in music ministry and volunteered his talents with vocal and instrumental groups through the church. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife Rosene, are two daughters: Marchelle wife of Gary Genasevich of Sugarloaf, Jolene R. wife of John Zeigenfuse of Manchester, MD, a son Jay R. Garman life partner of Beverly Fisher of Tucson, Arizona, eleven grandchildren, two brothers: Glenn husband of Cathy Garman of Manheim, Mervin husband of Linda Garman of East Petersburg, and two sisters: Lois Knauff of Mount Pleasant, and Nancy Minear of Ruffs Dale.

Bill was the loving husband of Lucille Light Dull and they observed their 71st wedding anniversary in September of last year. Bill was the owner and operator of Dull’s Used Parts and Recycling Company, Lititz. He loved racing; watching thoroughbred horses, and NASCAR, and rooting for his favorite driver Dale Earnhardt Sr.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Lucille are two daughters: Wilma L. wife of Lamar “Sonnie” Eberly of Lititz, Debbie L. Schmuck of Lancaster, a son, Larry L. husband of Diane Dull of Lititz, four grandchildren: Chad Eberly, Justin Dull, Leanne Habecker, Heather Gregory, ten great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and a daughter-in-law, Debra Dull of Ephrata. Bill was one of nine children. Preceding him in death is a son, Chester L. Dull, and two grandchildren: Jason Dull and Casey Schmuck.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Gardens of Stevens and Compassus Hospice of Lancaster, for the compassionate care provided to Bill during his illness.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Brunnerville United Methodist Cemetery.

Preston Lawrence Leavitt - September 16, 1931 - May 31, 2022

Obituary Preview: Preston Lawrence Leavitt passed away on May 31. He was 90 years old, born Sept .16, 1931. He grew up in Wayne, PA, and attended Randnor High School where he met the love of his life, Anne Louise Young. They were married for 62 years until Anne’s passing in 2009.
After graduating from St. Lawrence University, Dad was a successful salesman all his life. He worked for Scott Paper, Ingersoll Rand, and finally as a realtor. We will never forget when he won an all-expenses paid trip to Hawaii with Mom as one of 12 top salesmen across the country for IR in 1974. As a realtor in the Lancaster area, he won top sales awards 4 times at his office. The family moved a lot in the early days: Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, finally moving to Lititz, PA, in 1970. Mom and Dad would live in that same house for the next 52 years.
Dad loved summertime family gatherings at the family cottage in Higgins Beach, Maine. Mom and Dad had 4 children: Linda (Dean), Pam (Lee), Betsy (Tom), and Tom (Colleen); 8 grandchildren: Lydia, Heidi, Nathan, Ian, Emmy, Sadie, Kieran, and Maddy; and 3 great-grandchildren: Marie, Jane, and Sophie. Preston loved fly fishing for trout in PA and for stripers on the beach in ME. He was a talented painter and was known for his paintings of scenes around Lititz and Higgins.
In retirement, Dad loved to go for walks in the neighborhood almost every day. He enjoyed visiting with neighbors and feeding the songbirds. He often spent long sessions on his porch listening to the birds. Dad enjoyed golfing with friends, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the Lititz Welcome Center, and was a member of the Warwick Township Lions Club.

She taught third grade at John Beck Elementary School in Brunnerville; and later, at Rothsville Elementary School, Warwick School District, retiring in 1976. She was an active member of the Lititz Moravian Congregation, sang in the Senior Choir, taught Sunday school, and was a member of Women’s Fellowship.
Surviving is a son, John R., husband of MaryLee Yerger of Lititz; grandchildren: Joy L. Yerger, Jonathan R. Yerger, David J. Reidenbaugh (Lara), Mark R. Reidenbaugh (Jenn); great grandchildren: Zachari C. Walker, Kayla Reidenbaugh, Kyle Reidenbaugh, and Grace Reidenbaugh; nephew: H. Fred Bomberger. Preceding her in death was a brother, Harry R. Born in Elizabeth Township, he was the son of the late Joseph and Annie Bruckhart Garman. Jake was the loving husband of Kathryn Long Garman for 63 years prior to her passing in 2017.
Prior to retirement, Jake was a co-owner of Garman’s Garage, Inc. Lititz; where he was well known for his expert mechanic skills but more importantly for his service and interactions with his customers. He had a quiet peace and strength about him that had a tremendously positive impact on his family and those around him. Surviving are a daughter, Donna J. wife of Donald A. Sherman of Ephrata, a son, Randal D. husband of Holly L. Garman of Lititz, three grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Throughout his life Tim worked as a Warehouse Manager where he retired after many years from Clark Associates, Lancaster. Tim was preceded in death by his loving wife, the late Karen J. (Weachter) Kroeck who died August 17, 2020. He was a 1973 graduate of Warwick High School and was honored to obtain Eagle Scout during his youth. Tim will be lovingly missed by his dog, Wilbur. Tim enjoyed painting, crafts, ceramics, and holiday decorating throughout the year. One of his biggest joys was decorating for the Christmas season, not only his home but his children’s homes as well. Gardening and cooking also sparked Tim’s interests; having the opportunity to cook for and share in family gatherings was one of the things he enjoyed most. Being surrounded by his family was his ultimate joy.
Surviving is a son, Shaun W. husband of Kelly Kroeck of Elizabethtown, a daughter, Laura R. wife of Zachary Haines of East Petersburg, three grandsons: Carter and Connor Kroeck, Jason Haines, twin brother, Theodore husband of Sue Kroeck of Lititz, and a brother, Richard husband of Sue Kroeck of Lititz. Obituary Preview: Richard V. Ross Jr., 66 of Lancaster passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Born in San Diego, CA, he was the son of the late Richard V. Ross Sr. and Patricia Spangler Ross. Richard retired from teaching Automotive Technologies at Lebanon County CTC. He graduated from Warwick High School 1974. Richard obtained a Bachelor's degree from Penn State University in 1979, and furthered his education until he retired.
Richard was preceded in death by two siblings: Teresa “Terri” Ross and James Ross. He has three surviving siblings: Ronald Ross, Robert Ross and Sharon Ross. Richard is survived by his children: Juliana, Richard father of Orion, and Kaitlin married to Alex Surcouf. He is also survived by his former wife and friend Kathy Ross who is the mother to all three children. Dubbed, Pop Pop by his beloved grandson Orion.
Richard was a true renaissance man. A gun, car, and motorcycle enthusiast; a mechanic thinking creatively, he feared no art. He was an excellent marksman particularly when tending ‘the rabbits.’ He was a seasoned shooter at the Elstonville Sportsmen’s Association, volunteering with shoots. His stage performances at Lebanon, Ephrata, Gretna and Fulton Theaters are too numerous to mention, but all his performances will always be remembered. Singing was another passion of Richards, and he found a wonderful group of talented friends within the Lancaster Liederkranz Chorus.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Buch Funeral Home, 216 South Broad Street, Lititz, with a Memorial Service to follow at 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In Richard’s memory contributions can be made to Lancaster Liederkranz Chorus 722 S. Chiques Road, Manheim, PA 17545.

Obituary Preview: Philip E. Norris, 92, of Lititz, died peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Brethren Village. Born in Sweden, he was the son of the late Reverend Glen E. and Lois Detweiler Norris who were serving as missionaries for the Church of the Brethren.
Phil spent the first 10 years in public education in Altoona, then moving to Ambler to finish high school. Between his junior and senior years in high school, he was a “sea-going cowboy”, accompanying a boatload of horses from Newport News, VA to Poland. Following two years of work at a factory in Ambler, Phil attended Juniata College, where he majored in Bible and Philosophy, followed by Bethany Theological Seminary in Chicago.
After serving two years as Assistant Pastor in Hagerstown, MD, he became pastor of the University Park Church of the Brethren, just outside Washington, DC and the Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren, Denver, CO. Following the death of his first wife, Thelma (Mowry) Norris, and marrying his second wife Carilyn (Krehbiel) Norris, PhD, he moved to Fort Collins, CO, where Carilyn taught at Colorado State University.
Phil was involved in the real estate business, including owning his own company, Norris Enterprises, Inc. In 1986 he was called to serve as pastor of the Lacey Community Church, Olympia, WA, until his retirement in 1996. Wherever Phil served, he was deeply involved with ecumenical organizations as well as denominational endeavors, both district and national, including being a Trustee of Bethany Theological Seminary.
Carilyn, Phil’s second wife died in 2002 and in 2003 Phil married Joan Fyock Norris and moved to Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Lititz Church of the Brethren where he taught Sunday school, occasionally led worship and sang in the choir.
Surviving in addition to his wife Joan, a daughter, Helen Marie (Charles) Cowen, of Wellington, CO, a son, Byron Norris of Denver, CO, two grandsons: Dustin (Lindsay) Norris of Auburn, AL, Cameron (Lindsay) Norris of Mount Joy, two great grandsons, three great granddaughters, two brothers: Donald Norris PhD, of Wayland, MA, Wilfred (Lona) Norris, PhD, Huntingdon, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents and his first two wives: is a son, Nathan Glen Norris, and a brother, Arthur Norris, MD.

Preceding her in death is a brother Claude Bucher.

Henry continued his employment working as an auto mechanic for area garages, and then worked in the maintenance departments for Yearger Brothers and Versatek of Lititz. He was a faithful member of Lititz Church of the Brethren. Henry enjoyed hunting and spending time at the family cabin in Tioga County. He loved going to local sales and auctions, working on cars, and was willing to help anyone in need. He especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. \

Born in White Horse, she was the daughter of the late John W. Robinson, and Rosetta McCartney Robinson Soellner. She graduated from Saxton Liberty High School in Huntingdon County. Kay was the loving wife of the late Marlin H. Mummau who died in August of 2011 after 56 years of marriage. For over 60 years Kay was a faithful and active member of Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim; where she sang in the choir, and on the worship team as well as choreographed many many skits for use in worship services over the years. An accomplished singer, Kay was a founding member of the Joyful Sounds, a local women’s trio that performed at many venues over the years. A highlight was performing several years on the White House lawn for the National Easter Egg Roll. She treasured her time singing with the Sweet Adelines Red Rose City Chorus Chapter. Kay was also a magician assistant for well-known east coast magician Clint Riedel and performed with him in many shows. Kay was also part of the acting cast for several Sight and Sound Productions. Kay also worked for many years as a teacher’s aide at Fairland Elementary School in the Manheim Central School District. She was a member and past president of the Manheim Jaycee Jaynes Service Club. She thoroughly enjoyed the Jersey shore with her family, and wintering with her husband in Naples Florida. Kay was a talented artist working in the mediums of watercolor and oil painting. Each day was a treasure for her to explore. She truly enjoyed performing and she enjoyed sharing her creative talents and love of life where ever she went.
Surviving are three daughters: Tina M. wife of Ed Dagen of Manheim, Tammy K. wife of Ray Sauder of Lancaster, Terri C. wife of Rich Briskie of Manheim, two sons: Tim W. husband of Jill Mummau of East Petersburg, Ted W. husband of Kelli Mummau of Mount Joy, fourteen grandchildren, and twenty-two great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her much loved Aunt Stella and Uncle Lloyd Althouse, a brother Jack Robinson, and a sister, Mary Risbon.

She was an active and faithful member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Lititz, and volunteered at Twin Pine Church Camp. Evelyn was a former member of Salem Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill, where she played the piano and directed the junior choir. She was also a member of the Rabbit Hillers, Rothsville. Her interests included: cooking, playing the piano, decorating, baking, hosting family dinners, and spending time with her family and all the grandchildren.
Surviving is a daughter, Linda K. Fritz (Kent) of Lititz, a daughter-in-law, Sherry O. Ober of Lancaster, four grandchildren: Valerie Kennon (Jon) of Phoenixville, Erik Fritz (Holly) of Sunbury, Keith Ober (Ruth) of Lancaster, Shawn Ober (Erika) of Manheim, seven great grandchildren: Lily, Zahra, Henry, Scott, Lilah, Joseph, Isabella and baby boy on the way. Preceding her in death is a son, Michael R. Ober, and infant daughter, a brother, James Long, and two sisters: Alverta Moore and Kathryn Garman.

Over the years Tom enjoyed his Triumph TR-6, 1972 XKE Jaguar, cruising around Lancaster County, traveling the Caribbean with his wife, boating on the Chesapeake Bay, and family genealogy.
Surviving is a son Steve husband of Julie McGovern, Ewa Beach, HI; a daughter Anne wife of Joseph Sebestyen, Alpharetta, GA; five grandchildren Ryan, Drew, Parker, Lauren, Tommy; two great granddaughters Adelaide, and Ophelia; and a sister Mary Pietsch, Lancaster. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Terry and Mike McGovern; and three sisters Sally Rill, Ginny Hicks, and Pat Limberger.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his celebration of life service at the Buch Funeral Home, 216 S. Broad St., Lititz, on Wednesday April 6, 2022 at 6:00 PM.
