Born on January 19, 1935, in Mifflintown, Juniata County, she is the daughter of the late Edward McLaughlin and Toisie (Shrawder) McLaughlin.
Surviving her are her son, Robert Danner and wife Janet; and two grandsons, Nathan and Brandon Danner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie and Calvin McLaughlin and one sister, Sara Jane McLaughlin.
Ann was a graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown.
She was an Inspector of Garments at Scotty’s Fashions in Lewistown.
Ms. Danner was a member of the Arch Rock Church, Mifflintown and enjoyed attending the Four Seasons Senior Center in Mifflintown where she enjoyed playing cards and getting together with her friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 3, 2024, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Pastor Gerald Miller officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family at Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.

Born on June 17, 1955 in Lewistown, Mifflin County. He is the son of the late Paul and Thelma (Weiand) Geedey.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Roe) Geedey and children, Jennifer Dessin and companion, Jeremy Baney, James Geedey and wife Lynn, Melissa Swab and husband Mike. As well as siblings, Brenda Hosler and companion, Joseph Leach, Zoe Dodson and husband, Donnie, Holly Bearley and husband Mark, Paul Geedey and wife Barbara, half-sister, Deb Berry and husband, Carl and twelve grandchildren.
Mr. Geedey worked at Empire Kosher and ACPI in later years. He liked his cats and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc. 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, PA with Pastor Frank Swartz officiating. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment is private.

David F. Gray - August 19, 1949 - April 18, 2024

Obituary Preview: David F. Gray, 74, of Mifflintown, passed away at home on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
He was born in Derry Township, Mifflin County PA on August 19, 1949, and was the son of the late James Elmer Gray and Lademia Mae (McCulloch) Gray.
On December 18, 1970 he married his surviving wife, Linda (Kilmer) Gray with whom he was blessed to share more than 53 years of marriage.
David is survived by his daughter, Angie Keefer and her husband, Jeff of Mifflintown and a granddaughter, Dr. Brooke Kitting, VMD and her husband, Kelsey Hiaber of Farnsworth, TX. He is also survived by a brother, George Gray and his wife, Cindy and a sister, Linda Bowers. Dave was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Gray Suter and Janet Gray Henry, as well as a brother Max “Bill” Gray, Sr.
Mr. Gray was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served our country in Vietnam. He was employed as a truck driver for Juniata Concrete, later in life he was employed by Regester Chevrolet. David and his wife, Linda attended Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church.
He was an avid Junior Ritchey fan, collecting memorabilia of the 880 car and following his career, as well as anything dirt track related. His greatest joy above all was supporting his granddaughter through her animals, her school and grad school. He also enjoyed supporting his daughter through her 4-H career as well. David enjoyed hunting, mowing his grass, and getting together monthly at Regester Chevrolet to catch up with former co-workers and he also attended a group session for Vietnam veterans. He was proud of everything he had and what he worked for, but above all he was a family man through and through.

Born on March 5, 1937, in St. Louis, MO, she is the daughter of the late Julius Francis and Vernall Annebell (Feldkamp) Zielinski.
On October 26, 1957, she married her surviving husband, Richard K. Baade, with whom she was blessed to share over 66 years of marriage before her passing.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Sherry M. Baade of McAlisterville, Ronald R. Baade and his wife Pamela of Mifflin, and Douglas K. Baade and his wife Heather of York; four grandchildren, Valerie Gordon and her husband Casey, Christa Restifo, Brandon Baade, and Lane Baade; three great grandchildren, Gabriel Gordon, Callum Gordon, and Braxton Baade; two sisters, Gerry Kirchner and her husband Michael of Wayland, MO, and Denise Morris and her husband Randy of New Hartford, MO; and several generations of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Baade was a 1955 graduate of Normandy High School in St. Louis, MO and attended the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY where she studied Retail.
Along with her husband, she owned and operated the NFL Home Center in Shrewsbury, PA until their retirement.
Shirley was a member and attended St. Jude Catholic Church in Mifflintown where she was a former President and Treasurer of the Women’s Guild. In earlier life, she was a member and attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Freedom. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, charity work, and will be remembered as a devoted active Catholic and
a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 26, 2024, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 3918 William Penn Hwy., Mifflintown with the Rev. Richard Groff officiating. Interment will follow at Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 26th at the church.

Obituary Preview: Robert Scott “Skinny” Darrow, 59, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Scott was born December 15, 1964, in Doylestown, PA to the late William B. and Anne S. (Spadea) Darrow-Combs. On June 30, 2012, he married Jody (Wimer) Darrow, his surviving wife.
In addition to his wife ; he is survived by his children Brittney Darrow, William Darrow and Frank Darrow and foster son, Sam Horning. As well as step- children, Jacob Weaver, Joseph Weaver, Jonathon Weaver and Elizabeth Weaver Ohler, a brother Richard Darrow, half-brothers, Allen Darrow, Rico Darrow and half-sister, Anna Darrow. Skinny was also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Darrow and Jimmy Darrow.
Skinny worked as a self- employed farmer. He also owned and operated Darrow Excavating, and McCoysville Fuels, LLC.
Scott was a member of the South Juniata Baptist Church in Honey Grove, PA. He enjoyed collecting various items. He loved racing, redoing old tractors, especially with his dad, working on cars and flying. Scott was known to play practical jokes on people and enjoyed it. He was a licensed steam locomotive engineer at one time.
The funeral service will be private and held at the family’s convenience, with Pastor Caleb Burd officiating. A public, closed casket visitation, will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, PA 17059. Interment is private with burial taking place on his property. A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.

Obituary Preview: Dianne R. Goshorn, 74, of Mifflintown, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 at Brookline Healthcare and Rehabilitation.
Born on April 21, 1949, at Williams Air Force Base, Arizona. She was the daughter of the late warrant Officer Henry L. Gagne, Sr. and Germaine (Payeur) Gagne of Gulfport, MS.
On November 22, 1975 she married her surviving husband, Samuel N. Goshorn, Jr., with whom they shared forty eight plus years of marriage.
She is survived by two sons, Samuel Henry Goshorn and his wife Bethany, Seth Michael Goshorn and his wife Laura, grandchildren Emily Marie and Henry Michael Goshorn. As well as brothers-in-law, William E. Goshorn, Glenn R. Goshorn and wife Deborah, sister-in-law Constance Gagne and nephew Henry Lewis Gagne III and wife Aaron and great niece Elizabeth (Libby) Gagne.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only brother, Lt. Henry L. Gagne, Jr., who died from a failed ejection from his A-10 aircraft in 1981, and her mother and father-in-law Samuel and Helen Goshorn.
Mrs. Goshorn was a 1967 graduate of St. John’s High School in Gulfport, MS. Dianne also graduated from Gulfport Junior College and University of Southern Mississippi School of Nursing. She was employed in various places as a Registered Nurse. Dianne was a member of the First Baptist Church of Juniata County in Mifflintown for over thirty years but, more recently attended the Free Spring Church of the Brethren.
Dianne was an avid reader, she loved doing needle point and being with family, especially her grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Pastor Terry Smith officiating. Interment will follow at New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Born on June 16, 1944 in Tuscarora, Juniata County he was the son of the late Banks and Alice (Lane) Leister. His wife, Nancy (Hockenberry) Leister preceded him in death on February 6, 2010.
He is survived by his children, Angela Swanger and husband, Craig of Bellefonte and Tara Leister. Donald is also survived by a sister, Connie Dalton, grandchildren Damion Durst, Jessica Shawver and husband Ryan, Dustin Houtz and wife Dani, Kyle Houtz and wife Bree, Christopher Houtz and wife Zoe and Helena Swanger as well as fourteen great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Leister, Jr. and siblings Maxine Leister, Norman Leister, Jim Leister, Glenn Leister, Clifford Leister and Joan Prye.
Donald was a proud member of the Army National Guard and the American Legion Post 298, Mifflintown. He was employed at Marlette Homes, Lewistown.
He enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, watching NASCAR races and the WWE.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, April 5, 2024 at the East Waterford Cemetery, East Waterford with Ryan Shawver officiating, with military honors accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.

Born on May 7, 1931 in Nook, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Stanley Berrier, Sr. and Edna Stong. She was the widow of the late Larry D. Fry.
She is survived by her three sons, Gary L. Fry and wife, Leta of Shermansdale, Steven R. Fry and wife, Dorothy of Honey Grove, Mark D. Fry and wife, Rhonda of North Myrtle Beach. Vivian is also survived by three sisters, Dorie Shearer, Virginia Paden and Mary Seiber as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Allen J. Fry and one brother John Berrier.
Mrs. Fry was a homemaker who was a member of the former Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Pleasant View. Just recently she was re-baptized by Pastor Gary Krabill at Brookline Manor.
First and foremost, her family and friends were the light of her life. In previous years, she enjoyed cooking and baking. Her gift of compassion showed in her care and consideration of others. Vivian always enjoyed time spent with her family and friends, and she had a passion for collecting porcelain dogs, especially Pomeranians that reminded her of her late Toby.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Judy Rowles officiating. Interment will follow at East Waterford Cemetery, East Waterford.

Martha E. Myer - September 18, 1936 - March 25, 2024

Obituary Preview: Martha E. Myer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, age 87, passed peacefully from her home in Cocolamus, PA into the arms of Jesus on March 25, 2024. Martha was born on September 18, 1936, and grew up on a farm in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania during a time when life was much quieter, and simpler. That culture paved the
way for how she lived her life, in a quiet and simple way.
In the challenges that life brought to her, she always chose to trust her savior, Jesus Christ. This was even true of the last challenge that she faced, sickness and death. Her testimony was one of trusting Jesus for his timing, while basking in the love and peace that He was giving her in the transition from this life to being with Him. She was an inspiration to many in her life, not only her children and grandchildren, but that inspiration spilled out to friends, neighbors, and many others. No one ever doubted her love for God, and those she loved, never doubted that her love was genuine. Martha is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Mary (Harnish) Herr, 4 sisters, Mary Catherine Wenger (Merv), Grace Graybill (Paul), Lois Lowe (Elmer), Patricia Eby (Bob), and brother Harold, daughter in law, Betty Myer, and infant grandson, Curtis Gerber. She is survived by her husband, Wilmer, of nearly 68 years, 8 children, Glenn (Dianne) Myer, Judy (Abe) Krahn, Karen (Terry) Gerber, David (Laurie) Myer, Mark (Lois) Myer, Nathan (Sandee) Myer, Mariellen (Brent) Rosenberry, and Jesse (Carol) Myer, 36 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, sister Miriam Kreider, and brothers, Donald Herr, Robert (Bob) Herr, and Jay Miller. Harry A. Geedey - February 07, 1928 - March 18, 2024

Obituary Preview: Harry Alton “Muggs” Geedey passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2024 at William Penn Healthcare in Lewistown. He was 96.
Born February 7, 1928 in Hawstone, he was the son of John Arthur Geedey and Mary Katherine Musser. His wife, Thelma J. Geedey, who he married in 1950 passed away in 2011 after 61 years of marriage.
He is survived by four children, Harry M. Geedey and wife Glenda Geedey of Lewistown, George A. Geedey and husband Dan Schoenman of Jupiter, FL, Daniel A. Geedey of Mifflintown, and Deborah H. Geedey of Mifflintown; two sisters, Jean Aurand and Helen Casner; one brother, Raymond Geedey; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by siblings, Russell Geedey, Boyd Geedey, Thelma Swab, and Hope Elaine Swailes Watts.
Harry graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1946. He was proud to serve in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947 where he earned the World War 2 Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. He mustered out of the Army in 1947 as a Sergeant.
Harry was a carpenter in early life, and he built the house they lived in and raised his family in Denholm. He retired from Standard Steel in 1991. In retirement, Harry enjoyed hunting, golfing, woodworking, camping, and traveling with his wife, Thelma. He especially enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
Memorial Services, where the family has requested a time to share stories and memories in honor of Mr. Geedey, will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 22, 2024 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown. Military honors will be accorded by the Juniata Veterans Council. Interment will be private in Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the memorial services 10:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.

Mary Lou Briggs - April 20, 1936 - March 18, 2024

Born on April 20, 1936, in Huntingdon, Huntingdon County, she is a daughter of the late Miller S. Cunningham and Margaret (Oaks) Cunningham.
On June 2, 1956, she married her late husband, James H. Briggs, with whom she was blessed to share 50 years of marriage before his passing on July 20, 2006.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Steven M. Briggs and wife, Barbara of Spring Hill, Kansas, and Dr. Michael J. Briggs and his wife, Donna of Livingston, Montana. Mary is also survived by six grandsons and two great granddaughters as well as sister Barbara Young of Belleville.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by sister Eleanor Couch and husband, Paul and brother-in-law J. Robert Young all of Belleville.
Mrs. Briggs was a 1954 graduate of Huntingdon High School. She was a homemaker and was a very good baker. Mary was a member of the Port Royal United Presbyterian Church.
She grew up on a dairy farm. Mary Lou raised two successful sons that she was very proud of. She also enjoyed shopping, was an avid soap opera watcher and loved snacks.
Funeral Services will be private from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown. Interment will follow at Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown.

Born on December 5, 1927, in Mifflintown, Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Karl Albert and Anabel (Noss) Fettig. On July 14, 1950, she married her late husband, Lawrence Benjamin “Ben” Towsey, with whom she was blessed to share more than 68 years of marriage before his passing on April 17, 2019.
She is survived by her son, Larry B. Towsey and Missy Huss of Charleston, SC; two grandchildren, Steven R. Towsey (Nicole) and Rachel L. Lewis (Chase), four great grandchildren; Benjamin, Evalynn, Miles, and Colin; and two sisters, Kathryn Wagner and Charlotte Burd.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harvey Fettig and her sister, Anabel Conn.
She was a 1945 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School. Her career included social work which explains her efforts to help others. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Mifflintown and enjoyed traveling and gardening but mostly spending time with family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
There will be no public viewing or visitation.

Born on April 2, 1978 in Chambersburg, PA, she is a daughter of the late Stephen M. Reeder who passed away on November 25, 2010 and Linda K. (Hutchinson) Reeder.
In addition to her mother, she is survived also by two brothers, Jamie S. Reeder (Dara) of Cross Keys and Tyler L. Hutchinson (Amanda) of Honey Grove, two nieces Kyra R. Reeder and Avalyn A. Hutchinson and one nephew Carson M. Hutchinson. Along with many aunts and uncles.
Miss Reeder was a 1996 graduate of Juniata High School and Culinary Arts program of the Mifflin-Juniata Career and Technology Center.
Amy worked in various roles at Empire Kosher Poultry for twenty plus years. She was a member of the Village Lighthouse Chapel for thirty years and most recently Crossroads Church of God Prophecy.
She enjoyed word search and crossword puzzles, attending fairs and carnivals, and being with family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, March 22, 2024 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Rev. Judy Rowles officiating. Interment will follow at McCulloch’s Mills Cemetery, Honey Grove.

Born on June 28, 1935 in Millerstown, Perry County, is a son of the late Alonza W. and Catherine (Holley) Benson.
On June 1, 1953, he married his surviving wife, Dorothy (Howell) Benson with whom he was blessed to share over 70 years of marriage before his passing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Judy L. Shields of Loysville and Mary L. Prosser and her husband James of Newport; one son, Frank Benson and his companion Lisa Michols of Millerstown; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three sisters, Minnie Dietz, Jennie Howell, and Grace Milligan; and many generations of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, David Benson, Lenus Benson, Paul Benson, and Junior Benson; five sisters, Mary Serbieff, Ruth Benson, Myrle Cooper, Mae Jones, and Jeannie Brown.
Mr. Benson was a 1953 graduate of Greenwood Joint High School in Millerstown and a member of the Free Spring Church of the Brethren, Mifflintown where he served as a former Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.
Wayne was formerly employed at Precisionware Cabinet Factory in Thompsontown; worked as a farmer, and was a self employed contractor.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing pinochle, church activities, woodworking and setting up at craft shows, and, in later life, loved to sing along to hymns.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the Free Spring Church of the Brethren, 670 Free Spring Church Road, Mifflintown with Pastor Terry Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown.

Born on February 25, 1931, in Danville, Montour County, she is a daughter of the late Robert J. and Kathryn (Hartline) Farnsworth.
On August 30, 1952, she married her late husband, Dr. Samuel D. Zeiders, with whom she was blessed to share more than 58 years of marriage before his passing on December 18, 2010.
She is survived by her children, Donna J. Lauver of Mansfield, Samuel D. Zeiders III and his wife Joanne of Simpsonville, SC, Thomas E. Zeiders and his wife Carol of Sewell, NJ, and Paul R. Zeiders of Mifflintown; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and one brother, Richard Farnsworth of Elysburg.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son in law, Barry Lauver.
Mrs. Zeiders was a 1948 graduate of Danville High School and a 1952 graduate of Temple University where she majored in Nursing.
In earlier life, Dorothy was a Registered Nurse and then as her family began to grow, she became a proud homemaker.
Her memberships included Messiah Lutheran Church in Mifflintown, St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Tarpon Springs, FL, and in earlier life belonged to Lost Creek Golf Course in Oakland Mills where she was very active, Lewistown Country Club, Innisbrook Resort where she was a member and a past president of the Ladies Golf Association, served as a past president of the Women’s Civic Club, was a board member of the American Red Cross, and had belonged to the Mifflin Chapter #260 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She enjoyed playing cards, golfing, and was an avid Penn State fan; however, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 8, 2024, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Samuel J. Leister officiating. Interment will follow at Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.

Born on September 10, 1940 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is a son of the late F. Paul “Doggie” Smith and Kathleen E. “Kate” (Beward) Smith. On June 9, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Wanda L. Beale with whom he shared over 36 years of marriage before her passing on September 25, 1998. On December 18, 1999 Rich married Rita E. (Keister) Smith whom he shared over 11 years of marriage before her passing on May 4, 2011.
Surviving are a son, Douglas S. Smith and wife, Michelle, of Millerstown, sister, Kathleen A. McCoy (William) of Reedsville, brother, Franklin P. Smith, Jr. (Paula) of Mechanicsburg, brother, David L. Smith (Jan), sister, Christie L. Yorks (Ron) all of Mifflintown, sister-in-law, Delores B. Henry (Robert) of Honey Grove, three grandsons, Zachary S. Smith (Michaelli) of Thompsontown, Aaron P. Smith (Mackenzie) of Millerstown, Noah D. Smith of Baltimore, MD and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wives, Rich was preceded in death by sister, Lucinda Kay Smith on August 30, 1940.
Rich was a 1958 graduate of Juniata High School as well as a graduate of Williamsport Area Community College where he obtained a degree in Diesel Mechanics. For nearly 50 years Rich was employed as a diesel mechanic for Zimmerman Truck Repair, Mifflintown.
Rich was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown. He enjoyed spending time with family at their cabin in Reeds Gap, making barbecue chicken and homemade grapenut ice cream, hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, painting, doing puzzles, playing games, spending time with his grandsons, volunteering with Juniata County Food Pantry and in his final weeks, sitting on the porch in the sunshine with his son, Doug.
Memorial Services will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, March 9,2024 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Samuel Leister officiating. Interment will be private in the McCoysville Cemetery, McCoysville.

She is the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Morrison.
She was married to the late Charles E. Barnett who passed away in 2008.
Barbra is survived by one son, John D. Barnett of Mifflintown; one daughter, Donna Blantero of Mechanicsburg; three brothers, David Morrison of Youngsville, PA, Paul Morrison of Tidioutte, PA, and Donald Morrison of Cumberland, MD; one sister, Sandra Morrison of Warren, PA; one sister-in-law, Janet Carol Barnett of West Hickory, PA; one aunt, Ann Barnett and her son Steve Jr. and Marissa Barnett, all of East Hickory, PA; and several nieces.
Mrs. Barnett worked as a cafeteria worker at Fermanagh Mifflintown Elementary, and then worked as a Staff Worker at the Juniata County Library in Mifflintown. She was also a homemaker as well. She volunteered her time with the Order of the Eastern Star, Mifflintown. Barbara was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She loved cooking, planting flowers, and caring for her children. Barbara also enjoyed sewing and playing piano, having learned from Mary Ann Zook. She was involved in the local 4H.
All services will be private and at the convenience of the family with interment taking place at Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery Mifflintown.

Born on October 22, 1936 on Berry Ridge Road, Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Guy M. and Arlene (Bland) Hockenberry.
She was married on June 28, 1959 to her husband, Carl L. Schlegel, who preceded her in death on February 13, 2000.
She is survived son, Carl Jr. “Sonny” (Anita) Schlegel of Mifflintown; a grandson, Andrew Schlegel and his fiancé Lauren Dieble of Arlington, VA, and a granddaughter, Angela Zearfus (Stephen) of Thompsontown.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary E. Whitsel and stepfather, James H. Hockenberry.
Mrs. Schlegel was a 1953 graduate of Juniata Joint High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the University of Akron, Ohio. She also took graduate courses for permanent Certification at Penn State. In early years she taught in Mifflin County at Juniata Terrace and Granville Elementary Schools. Upon moving back to Juniata County, she taught 31 years at Mifflintown Elementary and Fermanagh -Mifflintown Elementary.
Shirley was member and past president for fifty plus years of Juniata County Business and Professional Women’s Club. She served on several district committees and was awarded “Women of the Year” recognizing community and club service. She was also a member and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma, a women educator’s organization. Shirley was inducted into the PA State Organization’s “Album of Distinction”.
She was a life member of Juniata County Historical Society where she spent many years on the Board of Directors and was a volunteer at the archives helping patrons with their genealogical research. Her memberships also included the Juniata County Chapter of Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. She was chairperson of the Educational Support Committee dealing with grants and scholarships to active teachers and students. She was awarded the PA State “Dielon Award” for her service.
Shirely was married in Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Mifflintown and maintained a life-long membership serving on nearly every church committee, currently as Treasurer of Kitchen Committee.
During her son’s youth she was involved in his activities such as Boy Scouts, Band parents, and Ladies Auxiliary of Mifflintown Hose Company where she served as Treasurer. She was also very much in attendance at all of her grandchildren’s activities.
She loved to travel and had been to 47 states and 6 European Countries. Her other hobbies included reading and solving sudoku.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown with Pastor Mindy Petrovcic officiating. Interment will follow at Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown.

She is survived by her children, Judy Seidel of Chambersburg, Betty Hufford of Enola, Carl Clouser and wife, Lori of Pompano Beach, Florida. She is also survived by grandchildren Valerie Barnhart (Robin), Christina Appleby (Dale), Kimberly Carmello, Brian Ansell (Stacy), Traci Haine (John). Pauline also leaves behind 21 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Brooks Goshorn, William Goshorn and Clair Goshorn also a sister, Dorothy Burdge, grandsons Chirstopher Clouser, Curtis Hufford and granddaughter, Amy Ansell.
Mrs. Clouser was a 1947 graduate of Orbisonia High School and was employed as a factory worker at East Waterford Textiles for 28 years.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in East Waterford. During her stay at Menno Haven she loved to volunteer. Pauline enjoyed crocheting for a very long time.

Born on November 4, 1946 in East Waterford, she is a daughter of the late Merle and Savilla (Hockenberry) Gamble of East Waterford. On February 5,1966 she married her surviving husband, Jerry L. Baker, they were married blissfully for 58 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons Bryan L. Baker of Port Royal and Jeff Baker and wife, Michelle of Plainfield, PA. She is also survived by three grandchildren Austin Baker and wife, Courtney of Mifflin, Tyler Baker of Tyrone, and Zach Baker of Boiling Springs. As well as a brother, Herman Gamble and wife, Janet of Port Royal, sisters, Peggy Feagly of new Bloomfield, Mary Jane Conrad and husband, Rodger of Shermansdale, Nancy Swartz and husband, Carl of Port Royal.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Grace Smith of Ickesburg, PA.
Alice graduated from Tuscarora Valley High School in 1965. She was very well known throughout the area as she was a waitress at Zimmies Diner for over 27 years. Probably her biggest accomplishment was co-owning Trustworthy Travel with her husband, Jerry. They were in business for 27 ½ years. They were always so thankful for everyone’s patronage. Most patrons became like family.
Alice’s entire life always revolved around one thing, FAMILY…. “FAMILY FIRST”. She always put everyone’s needs and concerns above her own. She was the most giving and selfless person that was ever put on this earth. To those who knew her, she always put you above herself. When God recently called her home, the reason was simple: he needed another star in Heaven! May she rest in peace.

William N. Bratton - October 31, 1935 - February 01, 2024

Obituary Preview: William N. “Bill” Bratton, Jr., 88, of Mifflintown, passed away peacefully at Locust Grove Retirement Village on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
Bill was born in Mifflintown, PA on October 31, 1935, and was the son of William N. Bratton, Sr., and Eleanor F. (Bender) Bratton. He graduated from Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown in 1953 and then went on to serve in the United States Navy. He was a pipefitter on both the USS Worcester in 1956 and the USS Helena in 1957.
After being discharged from the Navy, he married Alinda L. Kirk of East Waterford in 1960.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Alinda L. Bratton; daughters, Wendy B. Diem (Rich) of Lancaster, Brenda J. Koser (Seth) of Thompsontown, and Karen L. Barnes (Jamie) of Thompsontown. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Bill Barnes (Chelsea) of Newport, Tom Barnes (Hayley) of Thompsontown, Lydia Koser, and Annika Koser both of Thompsontown, and Patrick Diem and Caroline Diem both of Lancaster, along with two great-grandchildren, Rhett Barnes of Newport, and Hadley Barnes, of Thompsontown.
He is also survived by his siblings, Nancy Brothers of Mifflin, Betsy Ramsey of Mifflintown, and Donald Bratton (Esther) of Mifflintown.
He began his 33-year career with PP&L in 1962 as a laborer, then progressed through the company as a lineman, lineman leader, and ended his career as a service dispatcher for the Harrisburg Division.
Bill was a very talented woodworker and painter, always having some sort of project in the works. He was an avid golfer and could be found frequently at Lost Creek Golf Course in Oakland Mills. On May 26, 2006, he had a hole-in-one at Lost Creek Golf Course! Bill was an active amateur radio operator for over 40 years and had the privilege of talking with thousands of people from all over the world. Every November he was excited to spend time deer hunting with his brother in Licking Creek or his brothers-in-laws in East Waterford. During the summer months, Indian River, Delaware was his favorite place to be fishing the day away. He was especially happy to have his family join him and Alinda at the beach. He also loved attending his grandchildren’s various sports activities, dance shows, and birthday parties.
Bill was a member of the Mifflintown Lions Club, PP&L Live Wires, Juniata County Sportsmen’s Association, and the Tuscarora Amateur Radio Association.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown with Pastor Donald Walters officiating. Interment will follow at Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.

(Becky) Murphy, Jr. of Mifflintown. She is also survived by grandchildren Heather R. Yetter, Bryan G. (Hannah) Murphy, Jr., Justin C. (Gracie) Murphy and Ty Murphy, as well as seven great-grandchildren and siblings William J. Hambright, David R. Hambright, Larry Hambright, Pat Hooper, Linda Barton and Carol Fultz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Joseph Murphy, Sr. who passed away on August 15,1998 and a brother, Jerald R. Hambright, Jr.
Mrs. Murphy graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1957. She worked for Fisher Electronics in Milroy, Don’s Fruit Market in Mifflintown and cared for Jean Hougue as well as being a homemaker.
Anne loved spending time with her family and listening to country music. She was also an avid racing fan.

Born on January 24, 1931 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is a son of the late Harry J. Yorks and Rosa (Ebersole) Yorks.
On September 7, 1955, he married his late wife, Shirley A. (Hockenberry) Yorks with whom he was blessed to share over 64 years of marriage before her passing on February 16, 2020.
He is survived by a son, Ronald G. Yorks and his wife Christie of Mifflintown and he leaves behind two granddaughters, Alyssa Davis and her husband Paige of Baltimore, MD and Rebekah Kendall and her husband Scott of Williamsport; four great-grandchildren, Madison Rall, Nolan Rall, Elijah Davis, and Malcolm Davis. Robert is also survived by five siblings, Dorothy Sheaffer, Donald Yorks, Ruth Hall, Marjorie Hall and Rosalie Miller.
Mr. Yorks was a 1950 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, and a member of the Port Royal Lutheran Church. He proudly served our country in the United States Army.
Robert was employed for forty - five years in maintenance at Empire Kosher, Mifflintown.
He enjoyed tinkering and making things out of what he had on hand and could virtually fix anything. Robert had a good sense of humor and enjoyed telling good stories and stories of the past. He maintained his wife’s flower beds meticulously after her passing.
Memorial Services will be held at 12:00 PM, Monday, February 5,2024 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Samuel Leister officiating. Interment will be private in the New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. Juniata County Veterans Council will accord military burial honors at the funeral home.
