She is survived by her husband Shadoe Drury, her three sons, Wesley Hall and fiance Lauren of Connellsville, Stephen Hall of Dickerson Run, and Nicholas Brink and wife Megan of Litchfield Park, AZ, three grandsons, Eli Hall, Quentin Hall, and Grayson Brink, a special “granddaughter” Sicily McDuffie, and a granddaughter she was very excited about is due late this summer Everly Brink; her siblings, Sue Layton and her husband John of Connellsville, David Hall of Dickerson Run, Timmy Hall and his wife Robin of Leisenring, Debbie Cook of Dawson, and Danny Hall and his wife Regina of Indian Head. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her infant granddaughter Avery Brink, two brothers, Ray and Jimmy Hall and two sisters Barbara Wilson and Glenda Fuller. Obituary Preview: Rev. Paul Allen Sandusky, born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on February 24, 1947 to the late Thomas E. Sandusky and Betty Newell Sandusky, who preceded him in death. Paul died on April 20, 2024 with his devoted wife Janie and other family members by his side, having waged a brief and a valiant battle against squamous cell skin cancer. He was a graduate of Baldwin High School in Pittsburgh, Denison University in Ohio and Duke University, North Carolina where he received his Masters of Divinity in 1972. Paul spent his entire working life in social service work and the ministry, working two jobs for nearly all of those years. From 1991-1994 he had faculty status at the Ohio State University School of Social Work, Columbus State University School of Social Work, Duquesne University, School of Social Work and the University of Pittsburgh, School of Social Work. From 1994-1998 he served as the Executive Director of The Ellen O'Brien Gaiser Addiction Center in Butler, Pa. Beginning in 1998, he served as the Executive Director of The Rankin Christian Center in Rankin, Pa. In his related work experience he served as the Executive Director of Fayette County CSA, The Fayette County Drug and Alcohol Commission. Program Coordinator for St. Francis Addiction Service for Adolescents. Pastoral Counselor for the Pittsburgh Pastoral Institute- Behavioral Health Clients. Paul received numerous awards and achievements during his career including, 2006 H. J. Heinz Community Service Award, 2006 and 2007 Tri- Boro Community Service Award. He also began the first Alcohol Highway Safety Program in Fayette County, Initiated the first Under Age Drinking Rehab Program at the Rankin Christian Center and he was member of the Pennsylvania DUI Association, Pennsylvania Association of County Drug and Alcohol Administrators and the Drug and Alcohol Service Providers of Pennsylvania. Paul began his ordained ministry in the Methodist Church before becoming ordained in the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in 1984 where he served at the Knoxville Christian Church, Brownsville Christian Church and twice in the Connellsville Christian Church from which he retired on June 30, 2023. Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Susan "Janie" Bigham Sandusky, whom he married on June 25, 2004. Paul and Janie joyously shared between them the following children and grandchildren; children, Shawn ( Tony) Travis, Bryn ( Tammy) Sandusky, Andrew ( Stephanie) Culver, Adam Culver and Gregg ( Tanja) Culver; grandchildren, Haden ( Christina) Culver, Cicily Culver and Jesse Riley, Cameron Danos, Joshua Danos, Sadie Culver, Ella Culver, Robin Culver, Lucy Culver and great grandson, Matthew Culver; brother, Stephen Sandusky and wife Patricia of Enterprise, FL; brothers-in-law, Reed ( Sheryl) Bigham, Ken ( Nancy) Bigham, Kevin Bigham and partner Darlene Williams and Frank ( Donna) Bigham; sisters -in law, Virginia Knight and Nancy ( Ron) Culver; numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved to laugh, talk and share ideas; special friends, Georgi and Sonny Swick, his longtime friends in the " Geezers Group", Tom McGuire, Dave Regina, Phil Van Wassen and Walt Kuhns and many special parishioners from the Brownsville and Connellsville Christian Church. Also preceding him in death were his father-in-law, Worth S. Bigham, mother-in-law, Virginia N. Bigham; brothers-in-law, Greg Bigham and Jack Knight and nephew, Philip Culver. Paul loved his beloved Duke " Blue Devils" and was a loyal Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. Family and friends will be received from 2-8 P.M. Additional visitation will take place on Saturday in the Connellsville Christian Church from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M., the hour of services with Rev. He was born on September 12, 1931 in Juniata, PA., son of William A. Kern and Alice (Rhodes) Kern. He graduated with the class of 1951 from Uniontown High School. After graduation he worked for several companies in Akron, OH and Uniontown, PA as a bookkeeper. After retiring he returned to Uniontown to care for his parents. Leroy was predeceased by four brothers: William E., Charles A. (Rella), Ray E. (Faye), Lawrence E. (Anna Mae) and a sister, Louella M. Marchewka (Walter). He is survived by several nieces and nephews and a cousin, John S. Ivey, who served as his caregiver for many years. Obituary Preview: Sadly Randy K. Hensel, age 64 of Connellsville PA, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024, at his home. He was a beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great grandfather, son and brother. Randy was born July 16th, 1959 in Connellsville Hospital. He was the 1st son of Homer and Shirley Hensel of Mill Run, PA. Randy was a graduate of Connellsville High School Class of 1977. He was employed by Leru Storage Inc, working for Heartland Homes. Randy proudly served in the USMC as a Staff Sergeant. We were blessed to have him return home from the Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm. Randy was a devout Christian and is now resting in the arms of our Lord after his battle with Stage 4, Pancreatic cancer. Randy is survived by his wife Laurie, his daughter Rachel (Hensel) King husband Brian King. His twin sons Chuck Hensel wife Sarah (Hamel), Frank Hensel wife Janille (Cartwright), and his stepdaughter Samantha (Sabat) Shultz husband Justin Shultz. Randy was proud to be the grandfather of Olivia, Genevieve, and Owen King, Gage, Andrea, Haundray, Ashley, Alexander, Dixon and Jesse Hensel, as well as Haileigh, Preston, and Remington Shultz. He was a great grandfather to Noah Melendez. Randy was also survived by brothers Rickie Hensel and partner Patti Hull, and Jerry Hensel and his wife Marsie (Welling), as well as sister Jodie (Hall) Hensel. Obituary Preview: It is with very deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gertude Joan Costello, 89 of Connellsville, who passed away at 4:25 a.m., Saturday March 2, 2024 at WVU Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pennsylvania surrounded by her loving family. Joan was born December 2,1934 in Nemacolin, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Joseph Andrew and Ann (Hiscar) Guley. Joan was a graduate of Cumberland Township High School Class of 1952. She was a long-time member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church of Connellsville. Upon graduation Joan moved to Connellsville and worked for Anchor Hocking Glass, Bell Telephone, and for many years at Waltz Grocery store. On June 19, 1954 she married the love of her life Clarence "Bill" Costello and were married for 52 years. Along with her husband, Joan was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Helen Orlosky, Hazel Robinson, Anthony Guley, Albert Guley and Edward Guley. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Joan was a devoted, selfless, and loving mother to her four children. Left to cherish her memory are her son Robert William Costello of Connellsville with whom she resided. Daughters Diana Joan Costello Pastors (Richard) of South Park (deceased), Cynthia Marie Ford (Jeff) of Medina, Ohio, and Kathleen Ann Sapola (Jim) of Connellsville. Grandchildren Michael Pastors, Derek Ford, Cameron Sapola, Justin Ford, and Jonathan Sapola.
