Jeremy Pede - February 20, 1990 - November 09, 2020

Departed: 11/09/2020 (Broken Arrow)
Obituary Preview: Jeremy Pede passed on 11/9/2020. He is survived by his parents, three sisters, brother, and daughter. The family would like to share the below in honor of his memory: “Let me introduce you to Jeremy Pede. He went to be with Jesus on Monday (11/9/20). To say that he was goofy, smart, a practical joker, wonderful cool, has a tremendous voice, loves to worship Jesus, loves people, loves his family, is not enough to do him justice. He is so much more than on this. He was one of my sidekicks. I will miss our debates, discussions of the word, hearing him worship at all different times of the day, and the word playing loudly in his room. One of his biggest desires on this Earth would be that you would come to know Jesus if you don’t already. He loved to minister to all. If you know Jeremy, you know this already. I love you Jeremy and I miss you, but you are in such a fantastic place. Take it all in Goomba and clue me in when I get there.”

Virginia Bears Lamascus - December 09, 2035 - February 08, 2020

Departed: 02/08/2020 (Broken Arrow)
Obituary Preview: Virginia Bears Lamascus (Dec. 9, 1935-Feb. 8, 2020)
An angel was born on Dec. 9, 1935 and earned her wings alongside her beloved Savior and Lord on Saturday, Feb. 8, flying home to be with her loved ones and friends who went before her. She came into this world, delivered at home in Catoosa near Timber Ridge, by her own grandma, a midwife.
As a small child, she and her siblings were driven to California by their parents, in a Model T car, living the Grapes of Wrath story. Virginia once said her Dad, at that time, would hunt for possum and raccoon just to feed the family. Sometimes they lived on water gravy and biscuits for dinner.
Still, Virginia, learned the truths of life from her parents, and passed along the traits to her children that got them through the hardships of their lives – love, kindness, honesty, forgiveness, loyalty and hard work ethics were far more valuable than gold.
She loved Christmas, fried chicken, coney’s and puppy dogs, playing Words with Friends, but mostly loved her Lord and family. She passed away at the home of her beloved daughter Pam, holding her hand as she slipped away on Saturday, Feb. 8 in South Tulsa. Her heart had grown too weak as her lifelong desire to reach Heaven became her strength. It was the exact same day her mother had died 16 years before.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Ophelia Bears of Catoosa; a brother, Frank of Bartlesville, and sister Elsie of Tulsa; and her husband Warren Lamascus.
She is survived by her children, Bill Linihan III and his wife Paula of Visalia, Calif.; Pam Daniel and her husband Pat, Tulsa; Richard Linihan, Oklahoma City, and Brenda Hedges, Broken Arrow; her brother Edward of Cleveland, Okla.; brother Jim Bears and his wife Ree, Orange, Calif.; sister-in-law Barbara Bears of Bartlesville; granddaughters, Beth Linihan, Gretchen Lenart, Amber Bartlett, Ashley Vetter, Autumn Jessup, Whitney Lahita, and grandson Jeremy Behrens, plus many great-grandchildren, and best friend Patty Autry.

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It's usually published in a newspaper, online obituary platform, or funeral home website to inform friends, family, and community members of the person's passing.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased, while also providing important information about the funeral or memorial service. They also help to notify people who may not have been aware of the person's passing, allowing them to pay their respects and offer condolences to the family.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, the family of the deceased or a close friend writes the obituary. In some cases, a funeral home or obituary writer may assist with writing the obituary. The writer should be someone who knew the person well and can provide an accurate and meaningful tribute.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service (if applicable), hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. It may also include information about the funeral or memorial service, charitable donations in lieu of flowers, and any other relevant details.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or platform. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from 100 to 500 words. Online obituaries often have more flexibility in terms of length and content.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many publications and online platforms allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can be a great way to personalize the tribute and make it more engaging for readers.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department directly to ask about their submission process and deadlines. Some newspapers may have online submission forms or email addresses where you can send the obituary. Be sure to follow their guidelines and formatting requirements.

Can I write my own obituary?
