Departed: 04/09/2022 (Lubbock)
Obituary Preview: Fabian Alonzo,41, passed away on April 9th, 2022, in his hometown of Lubbock, Texas.
He was born in Lubbock to Joe and Norma Alonzo on January 11, 1981. As a child, Fabian wreaked havoc on the ranch amongst his only brother, cousins, neighbors, and friends.
He was a self-employed mechanic; but better yet known as a jack of all trades because there was nothing that he couldn’t do. He was famous for his charismatic charm and his smooth talkin’ with the ladies. The simplest pleasures in life brought him great joy as he loved showing off his dance moves, making his friends and family laugh, spending time with his kids, and riding his motorcycle. Fabian was blessed with a large and loving family. Although Fabian was only one of two children, he was blessed to have ten children of his own.  He taught his children to live life on the edge, to take risks, and to live each day like it was their last.
Fabian is survived by his parents; Joe and Norma; one brother; Joe Adam (Shaneque); his children, Kaden (Myka), Destini, Brylee, Karsyn, Isaiah, Fabian Jr, Kevin; his dog, Odie.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and remember the deceased, while also providing essential information for those who want to pay their respects. They can also help to notify people of funeral or memorial service arrangements.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, the family of the deceased or a close friend writes the obituary. In some cases, a funeral home or mortuary may assist with writing the obituary.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A standard obituary usually includes the deceased's name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, hobbies, and surviving family members. It may also include details about their life achievements, military service, or charitable work.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary, but it's generally recommended to keep it concise and to the point. Aim for around 150-200 words. Longer obituaries may be published online or in special sections of the newspaper.

Where are obituaries typically published?

Obituaries are commonly published in local newspapers, both in print and online. They may also appear on funeral home websites, social media platforms, and online obituary databases.

Can I publish an obituary online only?

Yes, many funeral homes and online platforms allow you to publish an obituary solely online. This can be a cost-effective option and reach a wider audience.

How much does it cost to publish an obituary?

The cost of publishing an obituary varies depending on the publication, word count, and other factors. Expect to pay anywhere from $50 to several hundred dollars for a traditional newspaper publication.

What is the difference between an obituary and a death notice?

A death notice is a brief announcement of someone's passing, usually including only basic information like name, age, and date of death. An obituary provides more detailed information about the person's life and accomplishments.

Can I write my own obituary?

Yes, some people choose to write their own obituary in advance. This can ensure that their story is told accurately and in their own voice. However, it's not necessary to do so.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department directly to inquire about their submission process and guidelines. You may need to provide written consent from the family or executor of the estate.

In most cases, revisions are difficult or impossible once an obituary has been published. Be sure to proofread carefully before submitting the final version.

What if I want to publish an anonymous obituary?

This is generally not possible, as most publications require verification of the deceased's identity and connection to the submitter.

Can I include humor or anecdotes in an obituary?

Absolutely! Obituaries don't have to be somber or serious. Including personal stories or humorous anecdotes can help celebrate the person's life and personality.

How long does it take for an obituary to be published?

The timeframe varies depending on the publication's schedule and deadlines. Online publications may post immediately, while print newspapers might take several days or weeks.

What if I'm unsure about what information to include in an obituary?

Draft a rough outline and then consult with family members, friends, or a funeral director for guidance. They can help ensure that you're including all relevant details.
