He is survived by his wife, Judy; his daughters Pam, Christa (Brian Jobe, son-in-law, Kim, Stephanie and Cindy; his son Michael; brothers Thomas and Dennis; grandchildren Colton, Alex, Rhys, Chad, Jennifer, Jessica, Joslyn, Tara, Cody, Sadie and Zack; and numerous great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, Glen and Alice; his sons Anthony and Rodney; and brother-in-law Garrey Kelley. Ron tended to live his life to the fullest, always keeping active. He was a US Navy veteran and skilled Tool & Die Tradesman and mechanic. He loved cars motorcycles snowmobiles boats, always fine tuning them to make them faster and better. He was a skilled pool and poker player. He loved food and could eat with the best of them without ever gaining any weight! As a father, he was strict but loving. Always trying to teach us how to be better and to do better. He always stressed the importance of doing the right thing, being honest, and only wanted the best for his family.

James served his country in the Marines and was a radio operator. James married Mary Lynne Clark on November 9, 1974 in Lansing and had a reception in Vestaburg. James was employed as a group leader at Hitachi and was employed there for 38 years and retired in 1995. James enjoyed a lot of things trout fishing, golf, and all sports, and spending time at Canadian Lakes.

Arlo was born December 17, 1941 at the Carson City Hospital in Carson City, MI, the son of Arlo B. and Ruth L. (Stroupe) Nickerson. He was raised in Vestaburg and attended Vestaburg schools. Arlo married his wife Cheryl Elain Angell on May 1, 1965 at Grandpa and Grandma Stroupe’s home in Riverdale, Michigan. Arlo was an Army Veteran. Arlo was employed by GM for 25 years. Arlo had many hobbies including racing, racing, and racing. He also loved building automotive things. He once built a golf cart with a car engine. He put a 750 motorcycle engine inside a three-wheeler and yes he was the guy that turned an AMC Gremlin into the first of its kind by adding four wheel drive and replacing its current chassis with a Ford Bronco chassis. But his crowning achievement and what he built the best was his family and the legacy he left behind.
Arlo will be greatly missed by his wife Cheryl, sons; Rick (Bobbi) Nickerson of Edmore, Brian (Collen) Nickerson of Vestaburg, grandchildren; Alexander (Lauren) Nickerson of Alma, Andrea Nickerson of Elwell, Roman and Kiana Nickerson of Edmore, Kristi Hubbard of Vestaburg, great grandchildren; Payton Nickerson, Nora Nickerson, Logan Arntz, Mckenna Wainman, two brothers; Mike (Judy) Nickerson of Vestaburg, Tom (Nila) Nickerson of Vestaburg, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Sally will be missed by eight children Pam (Joseph) Klees, Annette Billings, Thomas (Olivia) Billings, Lucinda Sheltron, Sandra (Jeff) White, Deanna (Brad) Simmet, William (Caroline) Billings, and Heather Lytle; 59 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; two sisters Sandy (Rocky) King, and Susan Grover; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends.

Coral was born April 11, 1928, in Ferris Center, the daughter of Benjamin and Thelma (Barber) Corder. She was raised and lived in the Vestaburg area. Coral attended college at County Normal in Education. She met and married her husband of 55 years, Irah Nelson Chase, on Aug. 20, 1946. Coral was employed for GTE as a Telephone Operator for 20 years until her retirement in 1990. Coral was also employed by Perry Country School for a few years, was a bartender and waitress for Staffens and Steve’s in Edmore, and as a secretary for D&J Refuse for 5 years. The most important job she ever had was watching her grandchildren.
Coral enjoyed playing piano, crossword puzzles, taking care of her Dog “Oscar”, camping, and going out to dinner, and collecting dolls. She was a member of Pine River Church of God.
Coral will be missed by her children Sheila King of Stanton, Jessica (Dean) King of Vestaburg, Roger (Rachel) Chase of Lake City, and Michael “Pete” (Denise) Chase of Lake City; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; one sister Evelyn Snyder of Vestaburg; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Coral was preceded in death by her husband Nelson Chase in Oct. 11, 2001; her parents Benjamin and Thelma Corder; one brother James Corder; sister Mary Guild; and son-in-law Ronald King; two grandchildren Doris Annette, and Gregory Dean King.

Barbara moved to the St. Louis area in 2004. She was employed by General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division, in Grattan, CT, for over 30 years. Upon retiring in 2004, she moved to be near her grandchildren. She then began working at 7-Eleven in St. Louis. She enjoyed her friends in the St. Louis community and loved her family. Her hobbies included spending time with her grandchildren and family, Gardening, and playing Farmville.
She is survived by her son, Ian (Tammie) Windischhofer of Vestaburg, grandchildren Logan and Grace Windischhofer, and 3 sisters, Peggy (Joe) Sardinha of TN, Kay Crider of RI, and Marilyn Overbaugh of FL.
She is preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Cottle and former husband Eric Windischhofer.
Per Barbara’s wishes, a private family service will be held in CT.

He loved to watch the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Pistons. Also enjoyed playing Euchre at family gatherings. Loved his dogs and took them to the woods with him when he cut and loaded firewood for delivery. He had a firewood business and delivered throughout Michigan.

He was a successful business owner until his retirement in 1995. Russell enjoyed being outdoors, traveling, hunting, fishing and horses. He was a leader of the 4-H Horse Club the “Russ’s Raiders”. But most of all he loved spending time with his family and will be dearly missed.

He proudly served in country in the United States Army. Mel went on to marry the former Betty Lance on October 27, 1947 in Angola, IN; she preceded him in death on April 12, 1995.
Mel owned and operated Erskin’s White Rose Gas Station for 12 years. He also drove truck and was a diesel mechanic. Mel enjoyed singing and attending Gospel Jamborees, going to the casino, dancing, fishing and especially spending time with his family. He was a member of the Seville Church of God, Edmore VFW Post 2292 and the Six Lakes American Legion Post 225.
Mel is survived by his children; Connie Cornell, Karen (Vic) Sheets and Chuck Erskin, 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, 2 great=great-grandsons; 2 brothers; Raymond (Betty) Erskin and Royal Erskin Jr., sister; Carol (Mike) Brophy, special friends Emily Bennett and her children; Angie and Laura, and his extended family; Sandy and Patty. He was raised in La Plata, Puerto Rico. He attended Goshen College for two years and was employed as a Social Worker for the State of Michigan for over 30 years until his retirement in 2012. On January 10, 1977, John married Doris Florinda Antunez in San Estaban Olancho, Honduras.
Jonny enjoyed partnering with Doris in the Greenhouse for 35 years. He loved music. He loved his kids, and grandkids, and spending time with them. In his later years, he served as a missionary through Community Bible Study International to Honduras and Central America.
John was a member of the Crystal Lake Church of the Brethren where he led worship and was avidly involved.
John will be deeply missed by his wife Doris Snyder of Vestaburg; mother Ophia Snyder; his children Cherri Bornman of Vestaburg, Ryan Snyder of Harrisburg, PA, and Gina Spiekerman of Vestaburg; grandchildren Abigail, Rebecca, and Jaelle Bornman of Vestaburg, Ryan and Sierra Snyder of Harrisburg, PA, Kenidee and Seth Spiekerman of Vestaburg; siblings Victor Snyder of Puerto Rico, Betsy, Danny, and Diane Snyder of Vestaburg; many friends and church family.
John was preceded in death by his father Royal Snyder, and his son John Roy Snyder.

He was raised and lived in the Edmore, Vestaburg areas much of his life except the years he ministered in Alanson, Mi and Belize (Central America). Al proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of the Sheridan VFW, Pentecostal Church of God Organization and Anchor Bay Church. Al enjoyed working on small engines, gardening, hunting and fishing. Al also enjoyed humorous teasing, playing games such as Checkers, horseshoes and Bible trivia. Al never met a stranger; he enjoyed spreading the word of God. He had a unwavering love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Al was united in marriage to Dorothy Byrnes in 1946 in Goshen, IN; she preceded him in death in 1981. He then was united in marriage to the former Ula Carrick on June 15, 1984 in St. John, Michigan.

He was born on March 16, 1937 in Edmore, Michigan the son of Ralph “Harold” and Mildred Woodrow. Ivan graduated in 1955 from Edmore High School. He was an active member of Ferris Church of Christ, Edmore, and Vestaburg Seniors where he was president for many years.
After moving to Edmore in 1987 got involved in the Edmore Area Chamber of Commerce, Michigan State Potato Festival where he held various office positions. He was a life member of the Montcalm Heritage Village, where he was the grounds maintenance and also a tour guide. Ivan was a member of the Montcalm Commission of Aging Advisory Board, where he held office positions, Montcalm Senior Fest Committee, Fred Meijer Heartland Trail, Entrican Gleaners, and Central Michigan Area Men’s Fellowship. He was instrumental in starting up the Edmore Area Transportation at no cost to senior events, such as Friendship Meals, Pot Luck Dinners as well as other special events for them. Ivan also enjoyed doing genealogy on his parents ancestors. He was also helpful at the various Jamborees helping set up and running the sound systems both Country and Gospel Jamborees at various places.
Ivan is survived by his brother, Wayne (Nina) Woodrow; nephews, Charles Olson, Garry Woodrow, Larry (Kris) Woodrow and Steven (Lisa) Woodrow; nieces, Cindy Olson and Carla (Tom) Luscher; 11 great-nieces; 5 great-nephews; 3 great-great nieces and 3 great-great-nephews; as well as many cousins. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ralph Woodrow and sister Connie Hollister.

Wendell was united in marriage to the former Linda MacLaren on August 9, 1980 in Stanton, MI.
Wendell worked out on the family farm most of his life until he retired at the age of 68 years. He served as the Home Township Treasurer for several years after his father retired. Wendell enjoyed woodworking, doing puzzles, playing cards, bowling and baseball. He loved to dance to polka music and was a great story teller. Wendell also was a 4-H Leader for a few years when his children were young. He will be missed dearly.

Shaunna was employed as a bartender for multiple companies. On October 12, 2013, Shaunna married Chad Douglas Burke. Her greatest passion was her husband and her children; she loved being a mother. She enjoyed gardening, flower boxes, her cows, and going out for rides.

Suzy was born on June 7, 1953 in Alma, Michigan the daughter of Bert and Henrietta (Christle) Wrisley. Suzy enjoyed hunting, fishing, singing, crocheting and watching the birds and squirrels out in her yard. She also enjoyed pulling pranks with her sister Rose. Suzy had a very kind heart; she would help anyone that was in need, even giving them a place to stay at times. But most of all Suzy loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them especially her grandchildren. She will be missed dearly.
Suzy is survived by her fiancée, William “Bill” Luscher of Vestaburg, a daughter; Kimberly Finch of Vestaburg, 5 grandchildren; Kelly (Luis) Santiago, Kendra Borton, Bryon “Blue” VanHorn Jr. Shelby VanHorn and Shayle VanHorn all of Vestaburg, great-grandchildren; Tito, Rayne and Grayson, brothers and sister; John Wrisley Sr. of Adrian, Michael Wrisley of Vestaburg and Rose Patch of Vestaburg and numerous nieces and nephews. Obituary Preview: Vestaburg – Virginia A. Snyder, age 89, of Vestaburg, MI, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Warwick Living Center in Alma, Michigan. Virginia was born in Ferris Township, Montcalm County, on March 25, 1927 to Abe and Nila (Beach) Snyder.
Virginia attended rural country school in Oak Grove, two miles from home. She graduated from Vestaburg High School in 1945 and from Goshen College, in Goshen Indiana in 1950. She graduated with a B.S. in Education, majoring in Home Economics. Virginia then obtained a vocational certificate by attending summer sessions at Central Michigan University, Michigan State University, and Western Michigan University. She taught homemaking for fourteen years and was advisor to FHA groups at Newaygo, Sheridan, Beaverton and Grant, Michigan.
Virginia then developed an interest in library science, and pursued studies in summer sessions at Central Michigan University earning a M.A. in school librarianship in 1968. She served as high school librarian in Belding, MI for seventeen years, before retiring in 1981.
Following her retirement she audited classes in floriculture at MSU and in 1982 had a single greenhouse constructed on her farm on Crystal Road south of Vestaburg and raised and sold wholesale and retail bedding plants for ten years. “Snyders Greenhouse” was sold to niece Doris Snyder in 1991; and she was pleased to watch the development of a larger operation, specializing in annuals and perennials.
Virginia enjoyed retirement years in her country home, having time for reading, gardening, baking and quilt- making. She was interested in family history and genealogy and enjoyed helping with reunions of her extended families of both her mother and father. Previously, she had traveled in summer or vacation time, retirement permitted more time to travel and visit with friends and relatives. Trips included visits to most of the continental states, including Alaska, Canadian Provinces of Alberta, Ontario and the Maritimes and to Puerto Rico.
Virginia was a lifelong member of Ferris Church of Christ, after moving back to the family farm, where she’d had a new home built next door to the Beach family home, she could take a more active part in the local church. She helped organize and plan activities for the Young at Heart monthly meetings. Always interested in preparation of youth for Christian service, she was supportive of Rock Lake Christian Assembly and Great Lakes Christian College.
She was a lifetime member of Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel and served as Treasurer of County chapter for several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a foster brother Royal Snyder; aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by Royal’s wife Ophia Snyder of Vestaburg and their children: nephews, John and Doris Snyder of Vestaburg, Victor and Soami Snyder of Puerto Rico, Daniel Snyder of Vestaburg; nieces Betsy Snyder and Deane Snyder of Vestaburg; Great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are many cousins of both Beach and Snyder families.
Visitation for Virginia will be held at the Brigham Funeral Chapel in Vestaburg, Michigan on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 6:00-8:00 pm and on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Ferris Church of Christ at 10:00 am to until the start of the funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastors Ray Merritt and Joshua Rude officiating. Burial will be held at Ferris Township Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the church.

She followed her career working in Grand Rapids as a County Nurse and then went on to work as a plant nurse at Hitachi in Edmore, Michigan until her retirement.
Irene is the last known charter member of the 1st Baptist Church of Vestaburg, Michigan; she was very active in the church her entire life. Irene had a love of music; she played the organ and piano. She enjoyed working on art as well. Irene spent the last 7 months at Schnepp Senior Care Center in St. Louis, Michigan. She will be missed dearly by her family, church family and residents and caregivers of Schnepps.
Irene is survived by her cousins, Gerald (Marlene) Stilson, Mariyln (Stan) Elzinga, Dora Mitchell, Loren Frey and Dale Borton. Irene was preceded in death by her parents.

Winnie was a long-time member of the Vestaburg Church of Christ and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, genealogy, quilting, hunting and fishing. She had such a love of nature, always planting trees, flowers, and of course a vegetable garden. She always had some sort of animals that she was taking care of, always feeding the birds. But most of all she enjoyed taking care and doing for others. In her younger years, Winnie was a waitress, and she worked for a factory in Ithaca. In later years, she owned and operated Vestaburg Marketing for over 20 years. During that time period, she sponsored and supported a winning men’s softball team.
Winnie is survived by her loving husband, of 68 years, Marion; her son, Tim (Dorrine) McCormick; grandchildren, Todd (Traci), Trevor (Michele), Ryan, Corey, Patti (Casey Beglin) McCormick ; great-grandchildren, Travis (Kassie) McCormick, Taylor McCormick, Gavin McCormick, and Ellery Beglin; and sister, Jean McCormick; her special cat “Skeeter”; step-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Winnie was preceded in death by a son, Marion “Robert” McCormick Jr.; brother, Cliff Kelly and a sister, Dorothy McCandless.

Devon just enjoyed spending time with her family and others that were especially close to her; she had a smile that would light up a room. Devon would get an attitude and kick her feet with you when she didn't like something you were doing. Devon will be missed dearly by her family.

Helen lived half of her life in Vestaburg area, she also lived in Edmore, Jamesville, WI and Riverdale. Helen worked about 15 years at the Gratiot Community Hospital in the laundry dept. She was a lifetime member of the Edmore VFW #post 2292 Women’s Auxiliary. Helen enjoyed gardening, quilting and puzzle books. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Helen’s family would like to give a special Thank You to the Masonic Pathways and Great Lakes Hospice for all the wonderful care given to their mother.
