Obituary Preview: Edmore- Joseph Paul Stimac, 79, passed away peacefully on March 17th, 2024 at his home in Stanton, Michigan, after a courageous battle with cancer. Joseph was born to the late Joseph William Stimac and Helen Schaaf on January 3, 1945 in Hancock, Michigan.
He graduated from Northern Michigan University with a degree in social work. He had a successful career as a Child Protective Services Investigator with the State of Michigan for over 30 years. He then worked an additional 10 years at Montcalm County Friend of the Court as a mediator. Joe served a total of 7 years military, 4 years reserves, and 3 years active duty for the United States Navy. Joe enjoyed playing darts, pool, bowling, completing jigsaw puzzles and model kits. He loved Saturday poker nights with his friends. He was a lifelong U of M and Detroit Lions fan.
He is survived by his wife Cintia Stimac of 18 and a half years, daughter Carrie (Shawn) Thill, and his two sons Eric and Kyle Stimac. He was preceded in death by his parents. Joseph will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Brigham Funeral Chapel, 413 E Gilson St., Edmore, MI, on Wednesday, March 20th, from 4-7PM. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Thursday, March 21st, 2024 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 530 W Howard City-Edmore Rd., Edmore, MI, with Pastor John Autio officiating. Interment to follow at Vinewood Cemetery. Luncheon will be held at the American Legion at 337 W Day St., Stanton, MI.

Obituary Preview: Edmore- Bonnie Kay McLochlin born October 6, 1956, of Edmore, Michigan passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, March 12 surrounded by her family.
Bonnie was blessed with a large and loving family. She was a strong and determined woman. Bonnie was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her dog, Daisy Mae. An avid lover of all thing’s elephant, she enjoyed watching crime shows on repeat, and spending her warm days searching for yard sales. Bonnie also enjoyed attending the various school activities and sporting events of her grandchildren.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Joy McLochlin, Jill (Brian) Porter and Joey (Annette) McLochlin, her grandchildren; Vianca (David) Lutterloh, Kaylee (Ryan) Bauder, Jessie Cunningham, Justina (Roman) Andrade, Shasta Lunsted, Amber Lash, Joey McLochlin Jr, Jazmyne McLochlin, Josselyn Porter, Brianne Porter, Brooklynn Porter, and Bethany Porter. Her great-grandchildren, Raelynn, Evalynn, and Declan Lutterloh; her brothers, Jack Martin and Jerry (Kathy) Martin. She was cherished and loved by the McLochlin Family and of course her beloved Daisy Mae.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Earl and Verlene Martin; her brother David Martin; her in-laws, Delores and James McLochlin, Janet and William Westphal, and her sweet Pepperann.
A funeral service is scheduled for March 23, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Vestaburg. Family will greet visitors from 11:00am until the time of service.

Obituary Preview: Kathleen Marie (Gyurnek) Roberts, age 78, of Riverdale, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Kathy was born in Alma on May 28, 1945, to Louis and Roseann (Kunkel) Gyurnek. She was raised in Alma until the family eventually moved to Sumner. Kathy graduated from Alma High School with the Class of 1965. She met Douglas Roberts a short time later and the two were married on April 17, 1967, in St. Louis. Together they had two children, Kenneth, and Teresa. Kathy was employed by Coney Island in Alma, Alma Public Schools, and later Soaring Eagle Casino. For many years she was a homemaker as well. In her younger years, Kathy went dancing with her family every weekend. Many nights were spent at the Moose Lodge doing the polka with her daddy. Kathy loved country western music and watching western movies. Doug and Kathy owned horses for years and she enjoyed riding, especially her horse Timmy. She sold Tri Chem paints and enjoyed velvet painting. You might find Kathy watering the flowers, watching hummingbirds, or feeding the birds in the summertime. She also collected Disney and Shirley Temple movies along with many other things. Kathy’s greatest pride and joy were her grandkids, who she spent a lot of time with as they grew up.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Doug; children, Kenneth, and Teresa; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose, Phylis, Carol, and Mary; brother, Frank; several nieces, nephews, and family friends.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Evelyn; and an infant brother.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Pine River Recreation Club with Pastor Steve Roberts officiating.

She was born in Flint, on May 18, 1940, the daughter of Donald and Thelma Allison. Janet was raised in Mt. Morris, where she graduated from Mt. Morris Public Schools. Janet married the love of her life, Raymond L. Becker on July 3, 1964, in Flint MI. Janet was a hard-working woman and homemaker her whole life. She enjoyed gameshows, watching westerns and word search puzzles. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas, but more than anything Janet loved her family.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Gail Ann Becker; grandchildren, Alissa Cassandra Courter (Ken House), Adam Scott Becker (Maddie Daneff), Courtney Alaine Gee (Wyatt Vanwagner); great- grandchildren, Lexi, Landon, Emma and Adalyn; and everyone who was blessed to know her.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lewis Becker; and son, Raymond William Becker.

Obituary Preview: Edmore-Max J. Cook, age 95, of Edmore passed away in Alma, MI, on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. He was born In Edmore on March 5, 1928, to parents George F. and Vadah F. (Rowley) Cook.
Max was a faithful servant at Faith United Methodist Church in Edmore and also a member of the Six Lakes Masonic Lodge. He graduated in 1945 from Blanchard High School and continued his education at Central Michigan University for 2 years, where he pursued his passion for music. Max was a farmer until 1966, after which he was employed by Morbark Industries for 25 years before retiring in 1991. His love for music and Woodworking was evident at a young age. He enjoyed playing the piano, cards, hunting, and traveling, but most of all spending time with his family. Max will be missed by everyone that knew him.
Cherishing his memory is his wife of 22 years, Marie (Hilzey); his 2 children, Danny (Diane) Cook of Blanchard and Brad Cook of Blanchard; grandchildren, Jennifer (Johnothan) Blanshan, D. Stephen (Beth) Cook, Angela (Scott) Costella, A. J. (Jana) Cook; 6 great- grandchildren.

Shirley loved to travel, go to any casino, camp with family, go to horse shows with Bud, and go to garage or auction sales. She also enjoyed “Card Night”.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Nicki Stratton (Pat Miller); son, Doug Johnston; daughter, Vonnie (Calvin) Callison; daughter, Rebecca Johnston (Lisa Santangelo); 8 grandchildren, Cassie (Steve) Davis, Linette Bellingar, Troy (Kathy) Mortensen, Matt Mortensen, Chad (Angie) Mortensen, Ben Johnston, Jenna (Lance) Kluwe, Alyssa (Ryan) Stafford; 13 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister Brenda Kelly; brother, Terry Smith.

She was born in Vestaburg in 1922 at her home where she was raised and attended Vestaburg Schools. Arvilla was employed at Hitachi Magnetics in Edmore, Michigan, but she loved people and was so easy to connect with, which is why she was employed by Maxfield’s Restaurant for over 30 years as a waitress. Arvilla lived life to the fullest, but nothing made her happier than her family. She loved gardening, picking dandelions and loved God and served him at the Church of God in Edmore Michigan.
She is survived by her 4 children, Carolyn and (Allen) Sexton of Six Lakes, Michigan, Ronald Crane and Cherished friend, Christine of New Mexico, Ellen and (John) Bluem of Cedar Lake, Michigan, and Brian (Kim) Crane of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She is also survived by her 2 sisters, Lorna Barnes of Edmore, Michigan and Connie LeFever of Lansing, Michigan. Arvilla also had 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 3 great- great- grandchildren.
Arvilla was preceded in death by her former husband, Glen; her parents, John and Lula (Searls) Keeler; 3 brothers, Bob, Rex, Harry; and 2 sisters, Norma and Kathy. Also preceding her in death was her grandson, Ryan Crane.

Michelle was born on September 4, 1978, in Alma, Michigan, the daughter of David Guild and Lynnette Kane. She grew up in Vestaburg, where she attended school before graduating in 1997. Michelle then went on to attend Mid-Michigan Community College. She was employed as a health care manager for McBride Quality Care in Edmore for over 10 years. Michelle met her husband, Brandon, and the two were married on September 30, 2016, in Vestaburg. She found many sources of enjoyment in her life, including animals, music, history, and Halloween. The most important thing to her was spending time with her family.
Michelle will be missed by her daughter, Ava Kristine Snyder (Ellijah S. Buccieri) of Edmore; her Husband, Brandon Moore; her siblings, Erin (Matthew) Halfman of Sumner, David (Abbi Hathaway) Guild; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Donald Guild and Ardene Young Potter. Funeral services for Michelle will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore with Patti Hicks officiating. Interment will follow at Vinewood Cemetery. The family will greet friends for visitation on Friday, December 29, from 4:00-7:00 PM at the funeral chapel and again on Saturday from 12:00 PM until the time of service.

Obituary Preview: William (Bill) B. Johnson Sr., 91, of Riverdale, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023, at MyMichigan Medical Center - Midland. He was born on November 22, 1932, in Ashland, Kentucky, the son of Ina Hutchinson and Huse Johnson.
Bill enjoyed a long, active life and treasured his family and friends. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1955, and the U.S. Air Force from 1958-1975. During his military career, he traveled to many places abroad and within the United States, and served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and was a disabled veteran. He raised three children, Bill Jr., Brenda and Chris, with his wife Betty. Upon retiring from the Air Force, he worked in various maintenance and electrician positions. He could always be called on to help with a friend or neighbor’s home repair. He lived in Arizona for many years and resided in Riverdale for the last several years. He served the community by belonging to the Mason and Shriner organizations and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2292 in Edmore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Johnson; sister, Alice Gerred; son, Robert Louis; and his wives, Betty Gilbert, Joy Johnston and Margurete Bondie.
He is survived by his son, William (Julie) Johnson Jr., two daughters, Brenda (David) Maynard, Christine (Kevin) Culli; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Huse Johnson and Bruce Johnson; his stepfamily members, and many nieces and nephews.

Donald "Duane" Shepardson - March 12, 1929 - November 18, 2023

Obituary Preview: Donald “Duane” Shepardson, age 94, passed away on November 18, 2023, at Arbor Grove Assisted Living in Alma, Michigan. Duane was born March 12, 1929, in Edmore to parents Emery and Violet (Hanson) Shepardson. Duane was raised in Edmore before moving to Big Rapids, where he attended and graduated from Big Rapids Public Schools. He was drafted into the army in 1949, where he served for two years. He then spent 7 years in the reserve before he was honorably discharged from service in 1952. Duane married his wife, Hazel Ann Malone in 1953. They spent 38 years together before she passed away in April of 1991. Duane then met Betty LeFever, whom he married in August of 1992. They then went on to spend 27 years together before Betty passed away in September of 2019. Duane spent 36 years employed as an Instrumentation Technician at Michigan Con-Gas Company before he retired in 1996. Duane enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, bingo, and playing at the casino. He also enjoyed having breakfast at Beardsley’s restaurant and driving the Edmore shuttle van. Duane was also a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.
Duane will be missed by his children, Edward (Jane) Shepardson of Alma, Shelton Norman (Susan) Shepardson of West Branch, Diann Lynn (Michael) Richards of Nashville, Michigan; stepchildren, Larry (Kathy) LeFever of Lakeview, Dan (Deb) LeFever of Stanton, Louise (Mark) Taylor; and by his grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Violet; son, Rudolph Duane Shepardson; and sister, Betty Marie.
A celebration of Duane’s life will be held for his immediate family.
The family asks that any contributions made in Duane’s honor go to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Mid-Michigan Hospice.

Obituary Preview: Ann Marie Binge, 72, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away unexpectantly on November 17,
2023, in Tampa, Florida.
She was born October 10, 1951, in Olivia, Minnesota to Ed and Mary terSteeg. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Minnesota, where she earned her degree in pharmacy. Afterwords Ann moved to Alma, Michigan where she worked in hospital
and retail pharmacy settings.
On July 16, 1982, Ann married Donald R. Binge of Edmore, MI. They had one son, Donald. Ann was a friendly, hardworking woman, who enjoyed life. Beyond work she had many hobbies and was passionate about family ancestry. Ann’s hobbies included: reading, knitting, quilting, sewing, beading, stained glass, wood working, furniture refinishing, jewelry making, restoraƟon of family documents, antiquing, and several collections. Uncle Kenneth Houdek and Ann spent countless hours tracking Dutch and Bohemian family members in their journey from the “old country,” thru Ellis Island, and finally to their arrival in Minnesota. Ann valued and cared for
family, friends, and family traditions. Frequently, Ann would go on road trips to explore, find points of historical interest, and more importantly, find great places to eat. When she wintered in Florida, she and her friends attended Corvette Rallies, went to Disney World, and found about every notable place to visit and great
places to eat. When her mother passed, Ann inherited the family special recipes and mother’s old Betty Crocker cookbook; liver and onions, potato dumplings with fried chicken and sauerkraut, angel food cake, apple pie, jellyroll, scalloped potatoes, Jaternice sausage…among others were favorites. When
Ann and her brother Leon got together there was some seriously great cooking that happened. Ann Binge is survived by her son, Donald E. Binge, daughter-in-law, Andrea, three brothers: Leon (Kathryn Jane), Edward (Kathryn Elaine), Wallace, Naja her pampered cat, and all her friends in Michigan and Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald R., brother Gregory, and sister-in-law Judi. A private celebration of life will be held. Interment will be at the Vinewood Cemetery in Edmore, Michigan. Memorials in her name may be given to a charity or
organization of your choice.

Lawrence Lee Taylor - June 20, 1930 - November 08, 2023

Obituary Preview: Edmore-Our precious Daddy, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa, Lawrence Lee Taylor, age 93, fell asleep in death on Wednesday afternoon, November 8, 2023, at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Lawrence was born on the old Taylor farm near Lakeview on June 20, 1930, to Rowatt and Hazel (Farrand) Taylor. He was the middle child of 7 siblings. During the depression the family moved frequently, resulting in attendance at many different country schools and later graduating from Blanchard High School in 1949. He farmed with his father and brother after graduation until being drafted by the U.S. Army. During that time, he met his sister Grace’s college roommate, Mildred “Elaine” Buzek. After a whirlwind romance of two months, they were married on July 22, 1952, during his four-week military leave before being sent overseas. They then spent the next 14 months apart as he proudly served his country in the Korean War earning the rank of sergeant. Their marriage was blessed with one child born on his birthday, which was also Father’s Day of 1954. Not one single birthday was ever spent apart between him and his daughter. His life was filled with good times, pitching for men’s softballs teams, bowling, playing horseshoes, touring with an Old Car Club, square dancing, hunting, listening to country music and being a helper to many. He was a proud member of the Six Lakes VFW and never tired of telling his war stories to anyone willing to listen. As a baptized member of the Blanchard Church of God, he served as a Deacon and was a founding member of the United By Faith Christian Church in Wyman, MI. He retired from Hitachi Magnetics after working for 32 years during which time he also worked 12 years as the sexton for the Decker Cemetery (digging all graves by hand). He was a loving companion and caregiver to his wife, a devoted father, and a proud-to-a-fault grandpa and great-grandpa. Attendance at all grandchildren events was a top priority for both he and Elaine, which he continued to the very end at age 93 with the aid of his “rabbit cane”.
Lawrence is survived by his daughter, June (Dan) Bush of Edmore; grandsons, Davie (Kathy) Bush, Jamie (Jelanie) Bush; granddaughter, Bobbi Jo (Brian) Kieff; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Braylie, and Kyler Bush, Kiera, Avery and Lexi Bush, Brady, Brooklyn and Blaine Kieff; sister, Grace; brother, Marion; 2 brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Rowatt and Hazel; wife, Elaine who passed in 2019 after nearly 67 years of marriage; brothers Paul, Mac and Deane; sister, Pauline.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore. Obituary Preview: Edmore-Patricia “Pat” Mae Baldwin, age 91, of Blanchard passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Isabella Medical Care Facility in Mt. Pleasant. She was born in Mt. Pleasant on April 18, 1932, the daughter of Ora and Florence (Chaney) Dargitz. Pat was raised in Blanchard where she attended school, graduating with the Class of 1951. She married the love of her life, Charles Baldwin on August 3, 1952, at the Blanchard Church of God. Together they spent the next 43 years as self-employed farmers and raising their family. She was also employed by DeWitt Lumber for over 30 years. Pat was a lifetime member of the Blanchard Church of God, serving as a youth leader, trustee and deaconess. She enjoyed fishing, watching wildlife and sports. Pat loved spending time with her family and baking, especially molasses cookies.
Pat will forever be missed and is survived by her children, Donna (Denny) Enyart, Terrie (Terry) Rogers, and Randy (Deb) Baldwin all of Blanchard; grandchildren, Denise (Jim) Cramer, Daniel (Lacey) Enyart, Travis (Gwen) Rogers, Trevor (Jamie) Rogers, Trent Rogers, Miranda (Casey) Ross, Branden (Amanda) Baldwin, Ryan Baldwin; great-grandchildren, Micah and Merit Cramer, Elizabeth, Dagny and D.J. A funeral service to celebrate Pat’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Blanchard Church of God, 200 4th St. in Blanchard, with Pastor Richard Eldred officiating. Interment will follow at Vinewood Cemetery in Edmore. Gorsuch (Lyn) of Gwinn, Tracy L. Evans (John) of Six Lakes, and Kevin D. He became a proud father of two daughters: Ashley and Jessie. In 2014 he would meet his life partner, Sherri Jo Busman. Wayne was a Mustang enthusiast and excellent gardener. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, along with high school and Michigan football. Wayne liked to travel, especially visiting Civil War battlefields. He was exceptionally talented at getting varnish off furniture and burning stuff.
Wayne will be missed by his daughters, Ashley Grizzell of Lansing and Jessie (Derek Johnson) Grizzell of Ashley, Indiana; father Harold Grizzell; mother Phyllis Abbott; grand-dogs Chief, Charley, Piper “Lady Satan”, Jaeger “Dude”, and Elmo; grand-cat Ted; siblings David, JL, Alvin, Junior, and Rhonda.

She enjoyed reading and spending time with friends and her animals.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her husband of 14 years Franklin Manners, her grandparents Eliza Jean and Kendall Dean, her mother Joanna, her sister Amanda, and stepson Dallas.
She is survived by her stepsons Franklin, Philip, and Shannon; her niece Nikita; her grandchildren Alora, Lizzy, Kira, Tristen, Elizabeth, Alexia, Mathias, and Adrianna; grandpa Mike Antcliff; step-dad Dennis Burns; brothers Bryan, Steven and Anthony; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Nancy was born in Alma on January 23, 1961, the daughter of Bud and Beverly (Deno) VanHorn. She was raised and lived in the Alma area her whole life. Nancy grew up to be a social butterfly who was involved in many programs and activities throughout her life. She was a Special Olympics athlete, worked at Mid-Michigan Industries, participated in the Drop-In Center, and attended Friendship Class along with many other accomplishments. Nancy was a shopper who loved trips to Kmart and the dollar stores. She was often carrying her baby dolls with her as she visited with everyone. Nancy liked sitting on the patio and drinking her coffee where she would watch the birds and feed Cookie, the local squirrel. She liked all food, but cheeseburgers, ice cream, apple pie, and strawberry pie were favorites. Outings were a special thing for Nancy, going to the movies, McDonald’s drive-thru, or watching ducks at the boat launch were simple things she enjoyed. Recently, “Fancy Nancy”, as she was known, got all dressed up and went to an unforgettable prom. She loved to people watch and was known for playing jokes on her staff and friends.
Nancy will be greatly missed by her brother Tom (Cheryl) VanHorn of Elwell; nieces Cassie (Ryan) Ewing of Charlotte, Jennifer (Mike) Klotzer of Mt. Pleasant; great niece MacKenzie Ewing; great nephews Brayden Taylor, Liam Klotzer; many special friends; all the beloved ladies at Krystal House; and her Bay Human Services staff and caregivers.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will take place on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Contributions to Nancy’s memory can be made to the family, who will then contribute to Krystal House.
