Departed: 04/06/2024 (Spring Hill)
Obituary Preview: Edward Wray Stanley age 81 of Spring Hill Florida passed away early Saturday morning April 6, 2024 in a Nursing Home under Hospice Services. He was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky and moved to Spring Hill Florida 5 years ago from Pennsylvania. He is predeceased by his father Edward Stanley, his mother Louise Varga (Stanley), niece Pamela Higginbotham, nephews David and James Moore. He is survived by his son Michael Stanley and daughter Susan March (Shawn March), grandchildren Ella and Andrew Stanley, sister Patricia Rewis and niece Jennifer Collins (Art Collins)
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Our father's childhood dream of becoming a fighter pilot was thwarted by his 6'7 frame, ultimately declaring him "too tall and too blind." However, Wray did serve in the Army during the Vietnam War and enjoyed his travels across Europe with his buddies before eventually settling down and getting married.
One of our Dad's passions was Nascar and IndyCar Racing, Never Missing One Race thanks to the old VCR recordings. One of the highlights of his adult life was participating in the Buck Baker Racing School in Rockingham NC, where he was able to feel the rush of driving over 120 miles an hour down the straightaway of "The Rock." Our father also enjoyed working on old Diesel Mercedes and was a loyal member of the Mercedes Benz Club.
Dad also adored dogs throughout his life. His last two dogs were both rescues named Harley. He loved them dearly and they brought him great joy, comfort and companionship.
In his later years, our Dad took a more serious and dedicated interest in preserving the environment by investing in solar panels and planting trees, wanting "to leave the smallest carbon footprint." In keeping with his wishes for a better environment for future generations, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trees for the Future.

Calvin Daniel Lessard - November 18, 1993 - March 24, 2024

Departed: 03/24/2024 (Spring Hill)
Obituary Preview: Calvin Daniel Lessard was born in Berlin, Vermont on November 18, 1993 to Mandi Sue (Lessard) Moulton and Matthew Paul Wallin. Calvin passed away on March 24, 2024 due to a motorcycle accident in Spring Hill, Florida. Calvin was born six weeks premature and weighed three pounds
14 ounces at birth, but was very healthy and spent no time in a NICU. Calvin is survived by his wife Arianna Lessard and their three children Raymond Nelson Lessard, Tobias Blaine Lessard, and Luna Isabella Lessard. As well as his parents Mandi and Matthew, his four brothers, Dustin Caine Lessard, Austin Wayne Tucker, Holden Wayne Tucker, and Chandler Matthew Wallin, his three sisters Heather Marie (Wallin) Deigo, Summer Melissa Wallin, and Mattie Samantha Wallin, his maternal grandparents Daniel Raynaldo Guy Joseph Lessard and Rose Mary (Flood) Lessard, paternal grandmother Frances Antoinette Rawden, several aunts and uncles, countless cousins, and many close friends that
he thought of as family. When Calvin was about two years old, he was helping his maternal grandmother, Rose Lessard (who he called Mamma), in her garden. They were clearing out the garden because it was the end of the growing season and a large, unripe tomato rolled near him. Calvin picked it up and started
eating it and wouldn’t let it go for anything. Calvin named his brother, Dustin. His mom let him pick his favorite name from three options. He also liked to give people nicknames and later nicknamed Dustin - Dustaniel. When Calvin was a toddler he changed his maternal grandfather’s name to Bampa and started calling his aunt Rocksan - Aunt Sanny Dooder. Later in life, when his mom would scold him by using his full name (Calvin Daniel) he would call her Mommy Daniel or Mother Daniel, and even started adding Daniel to other people’s names (Mamma Daniel, Ari Daniel), which recently rubbed off on his daughter,
Luna, who added Daniel to one of their cat’s names. When Calvin was growing up, he used to randomly pick up things around him in the world (rocks, chunks of wood, potato chips, etc.) that were heart shaped. He found hearts everywhere. His mother and maternal grandparents used to tell him it was evidence of his huge heart. This continued into adulthood, and he would randomly pull heart shaped chips
out of bags and hand them to his wife (just for example). Calvin helped less fortunate neighborhood children when he was a young teen by picking up free bicycles, fixing them, and then giving them away to
those in need. It gave him great joy to help others. Calvin loved cooking and at one time wanted to be a chef. When he was homeschooled following his brain surgery in 2007, part of his curriculum included watching the Rachel Ray Show every morning, choosing a recipe
each week, shopping for ingredients, and making a meal for his family. Calvin also created some of his own recipes like a Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole, Pineapple Chicken, and Paprika Chicken. Ultimately, he decided working in a commercial kitchen was more stress than he wanted in a job and looked into other career options. First, turning to custom woodworking like his maternal grandfather (who he called Bampa) and
finally settling on a career as an auto mechanic like his father. Calvin loved working on projects with his dad - not just cars. Together they built Legos, models, wood projects, anything they thought of just to enjoy
time with each other. Family meant everything to Calvin. He loved to spend time with his siblings, grandparents, great-grandparents, cousins, etc. Calvin often traveled with his maternal grandparents (Mamma and Bampa) where they visited Washington D.C., Hilton Head, Nova Scotia, Florida, etc. Calvin loved adventures - big and small - even just sitting to watch birds flock on a
beach was a thrill. When Calvin’s maternal great-grandfather (Raymond Flood) passed away, Calvin decided to get a memorial tattoo in his honor; a sepia colored rifle and fishing pole linked together to make a ribbon on his forearm. Later,
Calvin and Ari would name their first son after him. Growing up, Calvin and his brothers (on his mother’s side) often ran around at home in their boxer shorts. It became such a family joke their maternal grandparents (Mamma and Bampa) threatened to buy them pink underwear for Christmas, especially when they wouldn’t say what they wanted for a gift. The last family Christmas together in Vermont (2018) before Mamma and Bampa moved to Spring Hill, Florida, all of the boys
received pink boxer shorts as gifts. Calvin and Ari met at a friend’s birthday party (Kaitlyn Ribera) and bonded over a small dog; a teacup Chihuahua named Chance. They were both going to buy Chance from their friend, but Calvin got him first. Ari had a wardrobe malfunction at the party and Calvin was the only one not drinking
who was available to drive her home. Thus began their inseparable bond. Calvin was going to go pick Ari up and go for a ride to hang out with Chance, this was shortly after they met and before they started officially dating. She wanted to delay because it was that time of the month and she needed to go to the store for feminine products. He pushed her for why she needed to get picked up late, and instead picked her up on time with the feminine hygiene products she needed, fast food, chocolate, the car’s heated seats turned on, and a tank full of gas to take her on an
‘adventure’... and that is when Ari started to fall in love with Calvin. Calvin’s younger cousin, Jadyn, called him ‘The Amazing Calvin,’ and he truly was amazing. He helped everyone - family, friends, and strangers alike. Everyone who knows Calvin has a story of a time where he did something kind for them or helped a stranger and they were with him when
he did. During one of Calvin and Ari’s first dates they were at the tunbridge fair and ari attempted a basketball game to win a large minion toy. Two sunken shots in calvin told her she wouldn’t make anymore and she didn’t. Later he said he needed to go use the restroom but instead he bought the minion and put it in the car to surprise ari later. She was shocked he had and thought it was so sweet he had done that for her when they weren’t even
dating yet. One late night Calvin asked Arianna to take a ride with him. They ended up in the town of Washington, VT in a location that had a baseball field, small park, and a large forest near it. He had shut the car off and told Arianna to get out of the car and like any sane person she began to panic. They ultimately left the vehicle and Calvin led her into the woods. A few moments later they made it to a y intersection and headed right which led them to a clearing with a bench near a river bank. They could hear the water running and Calvin told her to look up. There was a million stars shining in the sky
and as Ari looked back down to tell him how beautiful it was he kissed her.
They officially started dating that night. They spent a lot of time in the car. Calvin would always ask where she wanted to go and she’d always say to narnia so they would have an adventure and after he’d say well it was no narnia but it was fun! If they weren’t working they spent all their time together. They hated to be apart so much so that when Calvin was sent on a work trip to New Hampshire he snuck Ari with him to the hotel so they wouldn’t need to be apart. In the ten year relationship they had they only spent four weeks apart
and any time apart was spent texting or on video calls. Calvin believed in defending woman and one day on the bus a boy made his sister heather cry really bad by bullying her yet again and Calvin had enough. He confronted the kid and ended up punching him in the stomach which was very out of character as Calvin was always a kind, gentle kid. It was the first time he called heather his sister and it was a very important
moment in their relationship. Calvin didn’t talk about feelings or emotions but he cried gorgeous tears of joy every time he and Ari had a baby. He told her once that the best thing he ever did in his life was meet her and have those babies because nothing
mattered more than the family they had built. Calvin and Ari were married on June 19, 2016 which was also Calvin's first father’s day! He made everyone laugh because after the ceremony he changed into jean shorts and a tank top before everyone made their way
inside and wore that for his and Ari’s first dance. These are all stories that we felt we needed to write down and while there are many more and we would love to write them all we just wanted to list some top ones to keep the memory of Calvin alive. He was a kind, strong, funny, hard-working, smart mouthed man who valued his family and friends and loved fiercely. Losing him, especially at the young age of 30, is a devastating tragedy and we hope this obituary will bring joy to people who read it and help keep his memory alive for the generations of his family to come. I hope you have endless vehicles to work on in heaven. Thank you for the best ten years of my life baby and thank you for being mine and the kids guardian angel. I know you will watch over us and keep us safe and I can’t wait to see you on the other side and tell you everything. XOXO your
family.

Donald Bradman Ivan Hood - June 27, 1930 - March 03, 2024

Departed: 03/03/2024 (Spring Hill)
Obituary Preview: Obituary
Donald Bradman Ivan Hood was born in St. George’s, Grenada, on June 27, 1930. He was the third of seven children born to Wilfred Hood and Naomi Hood (nee Winter). He passed away, surrounded by his family, in Spring Hill, Florida, at the age of 93, on March 3, 2024.
Brad attended primary school and the teacher training college in Grenada and then taught Standard One and Two for about two years. His students fondly called him “Teacher Brad.” He was teaching when he met a young nursing student named Nadia Bonaparte. During their courtship he would swim from the Carenage to the nurse’s hostel in St. George’s, wave to Nadia, then swim back to the Carenage. They married on April 22, 1954 and had four children, Dawne, Donald, Kathie, and June. He then worked as a civil servant in a government ministry and in 1962 went to The University of the West Indies (UWI) in Jamaica, for a course in government. After returning to Grenada he worked in the governor’s office. Brad loved singing and was a member of the Presbyterian church choir. In 1957 he was recruited from the choir to perform in the movie, Island in the Sun, starring Harry Belafonte. He sang with a team of fishermen hauling their catch to the beach. His family enjoyed watching and re-watching this film every few years, mostly of course to see Brad and Harry Belafonte. He also enjoyed playing on the “Dauntless” football team, and cricket. He was named after the Australian cricketer, Don Bradman. Brad and Nadia emigrated to the United States with their children on October 5th, 1964 for better educational opportunities for their kids. Brad worked in Manhattan at a compounding facility of Fritzsche Dodge & Olcott (FDO). He was proud of his work there, including his promotion to supervisor of Logistics, and the work ethic he practiced and promoted. Although Brad enjoyed his work, the winter climate was hard, so he was ready to retire and move to Spring Hill, Florida when he and Nadia, who worked as a registered nurse, became eligible in 1990. Brad joined Nadia in gardening, cooking, and baking. He especially liked baking Black Cake for Christmas and a bread recipe he had learned from his father, whose own father was a baker. For several years Brad and Nadia volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Brad actively encouraged Nadia’s interests and he often sang with her while she played the organ. They especially enjoyed being with family and friends, playing Scrabble, dancing and singing. One of Brad’s favorite games was Free Cell. His favorite song was “More.”
Brad leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 70 years, Nadia. Children: Dawne, Donald, Kathie and June. Sons-in-Law: Stefan Goldberg, Thomas Panzone and Luis Maisonet. Grandchildren: Angel, Darlene, Jasmine, Tamrin, Alexis, Sara, Ashley and Andrew. Great grandson: Brandon. Brothers: John, Charlie, and Haydn Ben Hood, Douglas “Bobboy,” George “Porgie,” and Richie “Reds” Cherubin. Sisters: Marcia McKie and Brenda Hood. Many nieces and nephews including: Dave Hood, Jennifer Pigage, Maureen Derrick, Rory Hood,  Dr. Anthony Hood, Michelle Pitts, Dwight Baptiste, Anne Marie Hood, Lucianne, Peter and Desmond Hood, Annette Andrews, Margaret, Celia, Joe, Chester and Anne Marie Palmer, Maria Blackman, and many other nieces, nephews, in-laws, family, and friends.
