Jack Joseph Moore Jr. - September 13, 1938 - April 08, 2024

Departed: 04/08/2024 (Clermont)
Obituary Preview: JACK JOSEPH MOORE JR. (1938-2024) Jack Joseph Moore Jr., aged 85, of Clermont, FL, peacefully passed away on April 8 th , 2024, at 12:11PM surrounded by his family. Born in New Haven, Connecticut on September 13 th , 1938,
and was the oldest son of four to the late John (Jack) Moore Sr. & Louise (Caprio) Moore. His memory lives on through his loving wife, Phyllis (Affinito) married for 64 years, his two daughters Theresa (Moore) and her husband Scott McMillan of Clermont, FL, and Sandra (Moore) and her husband Travis Kollman of Clermont, FL. Loving grandfather of Alyssa (Chris Jones), Kayla (Joseph Moss), Scott (Kaitlyn McMillan) and Jenna. Devoted great-grandfather to Noah, Austin, Grayson, Hunter, Harper, Afton & Sawyer. Brother of the late Patricia (Ralph)
Franco of Connecticut, late sister Rachel (Edward Sr.) Gono and late brother Richard Moore.
Also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews. Jack was a very industrious and loving man; He was a family-oriented person who prioritized his family’s needs before his own, especially when it came to making important decisions. At the age of 13, Jack opened and operated a successful Bait & Tackle shop. After Jack graduated from high school he went to work for a board & carton company. From there he was able to open several successful restaurants and gas stations. In 1986, the Moore family left Connecticut
and moved to Boca Raton, FL for quite a few years, finally retiring in Clermont, FL. Jack loved to watch baseball, play Yahtzee, and was obsessed with John Wayne cowboy movies. He loved talking to everyone he met and telling his stories about his childhood and journey through life. He would get to the end of each story and always say “to make a story short” but the story was never actually short. Then looked for our grandmother’s validation in saying, “Am I right, Phyllis?” He was a proud businessperson and loved telling the story about how he almost owned a McDonalds, but thought the idea was not going anywhere. He always took the “backroads,” even though the “back roads” were way longer than the normal route; we knew it was always to just spend more time with his family. He always made sure you were fed upon walking into his house, and even if you said you just ate, he ran to the kitchen to put food up anyway. He made
the best mashed potatoes, meatballs, spinach dip & biscuits and gravy. He was stubborn, relentless, and full of life. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his life and he loved spending time with them. His strength and wisdom have touched
each and everyone one of us and he will be greatly missed.

Robert Haas - September 24, 1930 - March 30, 2024

Departed: 03/30/2024 (Clermont)
Obituary Preview: Robert Stuart Haas September 24, 1930 — March 30, 2024 Clermont, FL
Robert Stuart Haas, age 93, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on March 30th, 2024. He was a dedicated and beloved member of communities in Clermont, FL, and Scotts, MI. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI, in 1930. He was the son of Stuart and Esther (Achtenberg) Haas.
Bob attended and graduated from Climax-Scotts Schools and Michigan State University. After college, he was drafted and proudly served in The United States Army during the Korean War.
After he got out of the service, He married the love of his life, Evelyn Sowers. Although they knew each other in high school, it wasn’t until he was discharged from the Army that he asked Evelyn out for a date. They discovered that they shared many of the same interests. With a desire to spend the rest of their lives together, the sweethearts were married on October 14, 1956, at the Methodist Church in Scotts. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in a love story that would span for 60 years. Their ceremony was packed with guests, and the newlyweds took an amazing honeymoon to the Wisconsin Dells.
Together Evelyn and Bob were blessed to raise six children: LuAnne, Steven, Lisa, Linda, Brian, and Jim. Their family meant everything to Bob and Evelyn. He was very present in the lives of his family members and gave them all someone to model their life after. His legacy is embedded in the hearts of his family.
Bob's life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his family and his passion for farming. He was a fifth-generation farmer and for over 40 years, he ran the family dairy farm in Scotts. This was a testament to his strong work ethic and love for the land. He received quite a few awards including Dairy Man of the Year. Alongside his wife Evelyn, Bob actively participated in Farm Bureau meetings and even opened their home to host these gatherings.
Beyond the farm, Bob found joy in aviation. As a pilot who flew his airplane for over a decade and maintained a grass landing strip at home, he cultivated a deep love for the skies. With time, Bob also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and traveling when the opportunity arose.
Bob's faith in God was central to his life. A dedicated member of various churches, he found peace and joy through his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Bob did his best to live out that faith in how he treated others and allowed the Holy Spirit to guide him when decisions were made. Those who knew Bob will always remember him as a humble man with unwavering integrity. His generosity, humor, faithfulness, and deep love for his family were evident to all who crossed his path. His willingness to make sacrifices for those he held dear left a permanent mark on all who knew him.
In addition to tending to the land and embracing the skies above, Bob proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was trained as a radio operator and stationed in Panama. His commitment to duty and honor reflected the core values by which he lived.
May we celebrate the life of Robert “Bob” Stuart Haas - his love and devotion in all the areas of his life will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bob is survived by his five children: LuAnne (Joe) Hinten; Lisa (Kurt) Tribbett; Linda O’Brien; Brian Haas; and Jim (Kate) Haas; sixteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn in 2017 and son, Steven in 2002.
A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Prairie Baptist Church, 11210 East PQ Ave Scotts, MI. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 11th from 4 to 7 pm in Vicksburg and again one hour before the service at the church. Bob will be interred at the Boughton Cemetery.
While at www.amsfuneralhomes.com please take time to sign Bob’s guestbook and/or share your favorite memory with his family. Those who wish to make a donation, may direct contributions to the Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries.
The Haas family is being cared for by the Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Home, 409 South Main Street, Vicksburg, MI 49097 (269) 649-1697.
