Elizabeth Henrietta Schaub - July 25, 1925 - February 06, 2022

Departed: 02/06/2022 (Appleton)
Obituary Preview: Elizabeth Henrietta “Liz” Schaub
Age 96, of Green Bay, passed away on February 6, 2022, at Aurora Bay Care in Green Bay. She was born on July 25, 1925, on a small farm north of Oconto Falls. The Schaub property bordered the Oconto River for most of a mile, where Liz, her six siblings and friends swam the Oconto every day during the summer months.
Liz graduated from the university of Wisconsin Madison in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospital Ward Management and Teaching. She received her master’s degree in Education in 1972, from Central Michigan University.
She became a Registered Professional Nurse in 1947, at which time she and three classmates took time off from their studies to work in the large Alameda County Hospital in Oakland, California. There, she served as the Charge Nurse on the Orthopedic Unit.
Returning to Madison, Liz worked part time at Wisconsin General Hospital, now the University of Wisconsin Hospital. She gained a wealth of experience during that time, invaluable to her teaching. Liz also had the experience of being in the Military Nurses Corp in 1944 and 1945.
In 1950 she took a position at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay. At that time the Bellin School of Nursing was in the process of discontinuing its school. Liz assumed the position of teaching the remaining Juniors and Seniors so they could finish their program in Green Bay.
She then began work developing a new three-year program, working closely with the Director of the Wisconsin State department of Nursing to establish a new school here in Green Bay. The curriculum for a three-year program was written as the foundation for the new Bellin School of Nursing. The program was approved by the State and accredited. The first class of students was admitted in 1954.
From this date on, Liz taught comprehensive Nursing subjects for many years and contributed her knowledge to the constantly evolving new program and curriculum. She very much enjoyed her bright and eager students; it was always a challenge to keep ahead of them, bringing them up to date on current practices and skills. When her first class of students was prepared to enter the collegiate program; Liz decided she had accomplished her goal and was ready to retire.
She then volunteered her services to many area charitable programs. She renewed her skills as a serious pianist and enjoyed swimming and playing golf. She attended Packer games for years, remaining a loyal fan. She also traveled to various islands and distant countries. In her eighties, she enjoyed the socialization of playing Duplicate Bridge every week, where she made great friends.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents Benson and Mary (Johnson) Schaub; her three brothers: Jim (Ruth) Schaub, David and Art (Delola); and three sisters: Mary Pappenfuss, Daphne Frear and Helen Johnson. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Thank you to Dee, Linda and Marla for all of their loving care.  Also thank you to Oak Park Place.
A Memorial Service for Liz will be held at 11 am, Saturday, May 14, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Green Bay.

Obituary Preview: Jonelle Margaret (Grognet) Rausch, age 82, of Appleton, passed away at her home, on February 6, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.  Jonelle was born on April 24, 1939 to the late Wilton and Florence (Doherty) Grognet in Green Bay.  She married Edward Rausch on June 28, 1958.  Jonelle volunteered at St. Edward Catholic Church in Mackville where she helped with fish fry’s and making bread for the bake sale.   Her Catholic faith and the Blessed Virgin Mary were important to her.  She and Edward were members of the Cursillo in Christianity movement and served meals at the Fox Valley Homeless Shelter.
Being the mother of eight children Jonelle had a sincere passion for equal opportunity for girls.  She was one of the original founders of the GFC girls’ softball league at Plamann Park.  Jonelle demonstrated the value of independence and hard work to her family.  She took the Franciscan Sisters out in her car for driving lessons so they could experience their own sense of independence. She lived The Beatitudes through her ministry of taking those in need under her wing offering rides, pocket money, and friendship.
Jonelle had a playful side and could be the “cool” Mom with her children’s friends.  Everyone wanted to ride in her van for school field trips.  Most of all, she treasured time with her children and grandchildren for they meant the world to her.   They have numerous memories and funny stories to share about time spent with and caring for Grandma. It was a rare visit if you weren’t invited to play a game or two or three of cribbage.   She enjoyed quiet time playing solitaire on her iPad and singing along with Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra.  In her younger years she enjoyed dancing, roller skating, fishing with Rosie and Dad, playing Bingo, canning fruits and vegetables, and family camping trips.  She loved to travel. Her favorite destination was California to visit her beloved siblings.
